Since the city has grown so much I would love to see how it looks during nighttime! (just like in the beginning of an episode, since I totally understand why you'd have it off normally)
There's a set of gateless park entrances on the workshop (by CitizenWMustache) that might be useful for doing areas like the beach! Although I think the way you did it looks pretty bomb too. I LOVE your Lombard St and the view from the top is absolutely stunning. Might be the prettiest thing I've ever seen in CS tbh. Also maybe from the beach over the ridge to the fort (and maybe the sea fortress unique building) could be a good place for the cable cars you were trying to fit in last episode. A continuation of the scenic cable cars (road) to the scenic cable cars (aerial) for a full scenic experience.
As someone who lives in Los Angeles the beach parking and stairs reminds me of Santa Monica. Would be cool if built a "pier" with a rollercoaster and ferris wheel on it!
Please definitely buy more beach things haha. That shore line makes me sad lowkey. AMAZING TRAMS AND SANFRANSISCO AREA! Loved watching you build today!
Why dont you get custom park entrances so you dont need to put those big gates that don't really make sense for a beach? I'm sure there must be some in the workshop :)
The sheer amount of tricks I've picked up from this series (let alone the other CS series you've made) to make my own city look so much more interesting is ridiculous lol. I'm so happy you're playing this again for us. Hopefully it's as fun for you as it is for us :)
Hey flabs, I love the series! Here are my thoughts on the trams. I would suggest splitting the line in two. A normal tram between the downtown and the SF area, and a touristy tram between SF area and the beach. You could extend the normal tram line to Myrtle to alleviate the pink bus and even further towards Coleridge. For the touristy tram I would think extending it to were the mansions are is a good idea and build something there touristy, like a viewpoint. On the other end of the line I think extending it towards the castle is a good idea. Either via a tunnel, or around the mountain and along the sea. Sort of like the dawlish seawall railway line in the UK.
For the part of the hill where you first placed the mansions, could be a pretty cool Vitkov-inspired build. It's a park in Prague on a high hill next to the city-center. On top is a building that now functions as a lookout point, national memorial and museum. There was a large battle in 1420 and after his death in 1953, the body of the Communist president/dictator of Czechoslovakia Klement Gottwald was kept there. Pretty cool place and could be a cool inspiration!
i adore the little hillside district, the San Francisco one! also i'm just gonna put this here even tho James probably won't see it but for me with every city you build, there's always just the right amount of realism and what clearly wouldn't work. i feel kinda sad that there's always someone complaining about realism. always love your cities
What if in the area behind the beach, you do like walking paths and a sorta nature reserve. And they can sightsee down into the fort thing. It's also hilarious when the camera or a prop does something funky and you say, "woah."
actually the SF - Cablacar lines are quiet long too and they do have curves and there is also a crossing between two cablecar lines, so your line is not unrealistic at all. Btw. you wanted to fix the the steep road at the beach
for the disabled parking it would make sense putting closest to the shopping mall these spaces are usually closest to the buildings for easy access edit: the big vanilla hotels could look cool in the dowtown near the beach. Seen alot of ctities building these not so pretty hotel towers right at the beach.
Driving down Lombard once for touristy purposes sounds about right. Then you get to complain about the traffic and all the folks pausing in the road to take social media pictures. :D

The Tram turnaround/parking at the Beach is genius and reminds me of a similar area in Gothenburg, Sweden where you change from tram to ferry to get out to the islands of the archipelago.
Yes! Please find some sort of way to force more traffic down Lombard street! It NEEDS to be filled with constant traffic, it’s the finishing touch that it’s currently missing
I live next to San Francisco so it is so cool to see you build someing inspired by it! Such an amazing place, and I love anything Victorian and San Francisco (and the Bay area around it) has SO MANY Victorian buildings. Most were rebuilt to look Victorian after the massive earthquake, But there are still many that survived. The Painted Ladies are some of the surviving ones and are so famous cause they are all in a row and on a hill with one of the best views in the city. Little can match the beautiful intricate architecture of the Victorian era (which was from around 1825-1901) and of San Francisco....sorry for the long comment haha im very passionate
I definitely think you should add a theatre to the new beach section. Itll really give the area a reason for tourism, and it works being beside the old fort.
super happy about the wheel! i had been wanting it by the downtown beach for a long time. \maybe placing some of the San Fran style houses in other areas could help them stand out a touch less, as their colours are a bit different from other houses and buildings in the rest of the map. and more beach assets!
MAN these new areas are so cool! It’s starting to feel like a video game environment, like somewhere you really wanna explore! I also think it would be neat if, if you still wanted to get a rail line to the cargo harbour down the coast there, you ran the rail line down the back of the mall and nightclubs and then over the road, and have it tunnel under the hills and river mouth either side. It would be pretty realistic, I’d say.
Yes! I'm so happy you went with this look! I wasn't a fan of the big moutain park idea cause there's a big park in the city already so I'm very happy you went with townhouses! Love it! Having a smaller green area looks much neater
I'm so glad you decided to do an SF-inspired area, it and the city is coming along wonderfully. It's good to see you having fun with CS again! :) Also, the beach area looks great so far too!
This area looked even better than ı thought it would thank you for giving my suggestion a try loved the heather beach it looks so cosy ı would definitely prefer heather beach to relax love from turkey
This city just keeps getting better and better. I love the new SF inspired area with the tramline and the new beach. I would suggest getting the parkify mod so your regular parks and plazas can snap to park paths instead of roads. Its really useful to put beach volley on the beach. You can even use the surface painter to get rid of the concrete underneath so it looks like a stand alone thing. Also in find it if you search for parasol you get the really fun randomised colorful parasols you can scatter over the beach. Makes it look a lot more lively as well.
I really love your take on Lombard Street but also the San Fran inspired area around. I think you should continue with the San Fran vibe on the other hill as well. Also, the beach turned out great! Wish I could spend a warm summer day there. This was probably my favorite episode yet.
Loving the series!! The SanFran area is sweet!! What about a cable car that goes from the new beach area to that old fortress? Maybe add some other relating attractions to the area? you could expand the park area to include it.
31:06 I think a tram turnaround and a cable car station would be great, because you could run the cable car up to the fort. You could also check the workshop for the inclined railway mod; that might be really cool to use here to go up to the fort. Edit: I just realized in the next minute there that the fort isn’t actually up on the mountain like I thought it was, there’s just a weird ridge between it and the beach area you’re building. Maybe raise the fort and the land there to make it look like it is sitting up on a plateau/headlands area, since that would really make more sense for a fort guarding the entrance to the river. Also it would then allow you to use the cable car or inclined railway. 36:43 - I think on the right side of this frame, you should’ve left the land sloping up to the edge of the parking lot (like how it is at 35:29) because you could’ve then built a little ramp down from the parking lot to allow for disabled access to the beach since at the moment you’ve only got stairs.
I love the San Fransisco area, it looks amazing. The wavy street especially, I think it really fits in well. The beach is looking a touch sad at the moment, but I think if you can find some beach umbrella/lounge chair assets it'll look more touristy. Also maybe some beach huts? Beaches here in the UK often have a long line of brightly coloured sheds on one side of the road, and they look super cute.
This series really made me fall in love with CS! Thanks for such a fun episodes! Also, The beach area with the key really reminds me of gordon beach in tel aviv, You should check it out for reference!
I'm from SF and that weird long bit when you zoom in on some houses on the hillside is totally a thing. Houses actually look like that on some of the steeper hills.
I am really enjoying this series again! It felt like you were lost yourself a couple of episodes ago but with this district you are definitely back in the game.
Loving this series! Thankyou! Have you placed the floating cafe yet? That might be nice. With some ice cream vans and boats. Also one of the hotel is you placed is backwards. Perhaps consider getting some more plant varieties. Big palms would suit the beach with the hotels. The San Francisco area really bought back great memories!❤
Love this series, and love the San-Fran inspo for the new area! super cool :) I reckon the old fort/ruins would be really cool if you transformed it into a theme park - sorta like how Luna Park in Sydney has older buildings as part of it.
Speed up those trams to at least 30kmh or shorten the line. Someone said it should go from new SF area to the old fort thing on the beach and i totally agree. Love what you have done this episode.
I love the San Francisco district - it's so aesthetic pleasing! 😍 And I suggest renaming Heather Beach to SanD Francisco Beach 🏖😅 Can't wait for more episodes of this!! 😃
As a California resident, it's really cool to see you re-create SF in your city! It would be really cool to have a wharf with an amusement park or aquarium near to or coming out of that beach you just created in this video! Something similar to what San Francisco has with Pier 39 or Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
I just lived nearby SF last semester and now you build that San Francisco area, I am nostalgic now 😭 And yes, the cable car is one of the old ones, it goes to the top of Lombard Street and stops before the intersection.
I love the beach area! It might be good to have only a small cable car area, and the rest of that line is normal tram, like run the cable car from Heather Park to Heather Beach. Could still up the speed a little bit even then.
I was about to leave a comment about turning the small beach into something like Oriental Bay in Wellington NZ (very nice beach near the city but not the main downtown, with steep hills behind and expensive housing) then the randomly generated name was Oriental Park hahaha
i love the SF area! it feels super duper cosy! for future ideas, how about a massive walking track/board walk along the coast line would be really cool! and super realistic to other coastal cities. and maybe a few smaller uni campuses in other areas of the city? like a smaller one in the city that's med/law based, a trade based campus way out past the industries, and a liberal arts focused campus somewhere else urban
The cable cars are good at that speed. The route is good too, although along the road where the big wheel is, I think the cable car line should have its own dedicated tramway beach side. Loving the build though, thanks for the entertainment.
I love the beach area. I think putting the bowling there makes so much sense because normally in seaside towns they have things like amusements and bowling on the seafront. Also maybe a market area if that’s possible? And where the castle is to the right of it, I think that should be some kind of National park too with an access from the beach
Great idea for the festival on that island - there's actually an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay (Treasure Island) that has a festival every year!
that traintrack in the concrete ravine, planning to secure that? I feel next to a park and walkway that might be considered a pretty big danger to both the trains and civilians :D great series, keep it up!
What I did in my city is create an empty park piece with just a hangout marker that doesn't flatten terrain, and then you can place it inside parks so cims hangout there. It's really nice to put over the beaches so that people actually hangout in the water. I swear there was something similar on the workshop in the past but it's really easy to make your own.
53:00 you can use the Commuter Destinations mod to see exactly where people at those bus stops want to go and it helps you see where needs more paths/transport
I like the idea of moving the historic fort to Bedford Island with the festival grounds and outdoor entertainment amenities. Plus adding additional historic sea fort assets.
In Finland we have this zoo names "Korkeasaari" and it's on an island. It would be cool idea to make but donno if the island on here is too small for a zoo.
This series is making me realise UA-cam needs to implement a "stop video at chaper[X]" sort of feature... So I don't sit here all day watching your videos and then I have to savour them 😂😭
You might want to check out the Chicago lakefront for inspiration for the downtown area with the beach. It's all parks and beaches with skyscrapers behind. There is even a football stadium on the lakefront.. The city doesn't have any trams or cable cars. But it does have elevated mass transit trains that run all around the downtown.
Definitely up the speed of those cable cars. To force some vehicles onto the curvy road, you could always ban cars or certain kinds of traffic on the side streets or specific lanes, basically force some vehicles like to turn left or right or whatever to use the curvy road. Also, I think it's time for a first person tour!!
Might I suggest that you turn the castle into a tourist attraction/park? Add a museum by the parking, and paths throughout the area. See if you can get the peeps walking around the castle.
A suggestion for connecting the power is using a Wind Turbine that could be a feature for Heather Beach and you could probably add stuff like beach volley ball and restaurant pier to it too.
Absolutely loving this series. So glad you’re taking your time and really getting to enjoy it as much as we are!
The bus stop at the bottom of Lombard Street looks like a protest.
looks hectic
This is definitely becoming my favorite City Skylines series. Love the SF inspo!
Love Heather Beach. I feel like it needs a skate park and maybe some fishing spots. If you want to add food/shopping I would make it small
A skatepark next to the beach makes a lot of sense. We have that where I live and it’s very popular.
Second this. A large skatepark and more buildings like the "beachfront restaurant/starlight hotel"
As someone who lives in Los Angeles the beach parking and stairs reminds me of Santa Monica. Would be cool if built a "pier" with a rollercoaster and ferris wheel on it!
Yessss I agree
Please definitely buy more beach things haha. That shore line makes me sad lowkey. AMAZING TRAMS AND SANFRANSISCO AREA! Loved watching you build today!
Do the San Francisco Coit Tower monument on one of the hills near your San Francisco District it would look really nice.
I totally thought about it too!!
I was literally thinking the same
Why dont you get custom park entrances so you dont need to put those big gates that don't really make sense for a beach? I'm sure there must be some in the workshop :)
The sheer amount of tricks I've picked up from this series (let alone the other CS series you've made) to make my own city look so much more interesting is ridiculous lol. I'm so happy you're playing this again for us. Hopefully it's as fun for you as it is for us :)

yesssss
Yes
He should do the PCC historic streetcar for the "normal" tram - higher speed and capacity while retaining the SF vibe
@@fake123 personally i think it looks really out of place in the non sf parts of the city
For the part of the hill where you first placed the mansions, could be a pretty cool Vitkov-inspired build. It's a park in Prague on a high hill next to the city-center. On top is a building that now functions as a lookout point, national memorial and museum. Did anyone else start hearing the Full House themesong in your head? You're spoiling us with these quick posts!!
I live near there and that looks great! As far as the houses looking weird because the hills are so steep, that’s how they look in real life 😂
What if in the area behind the beach, you do like walking paths and a sorta nature reserve. And they can sightsee down into the fort thing.
It's also hilarious when the camera or a prop does something funky and you say, "woah."
I absolutely agree with the nature reserve Idea. That was what I was thinking for that area.

Another episode already!!! I’m loving the series keep up the great work😁
i looove the san francisco area!!! it turned out so well!! 😍 also it makes my day everytime i see you've uploaded a new episode :)
One of the first times that I see a city that seems actually enjoyable to live in!
super happy about the wheel! i had been wanting it by the downtown beach for a long time.

this is by far my favorite C:S series on YT. keep it up james !!!
I'm so glad you decided to do an SF-inspired area, it and the city is coming along wonderfully. It's good to see you having fun with CS again! :)
Also, the beach area looks great so far too!
I just love your detail work!!! I could spend hours watching you make the city look pretty! Love this series 💕

As a Bay Area native, seeing you recreate Lombard from mostly memory alone was impressive af! Loving this series, keep up the awesome work James!
51:00 In the UK, the bus lane are for PCV's only. In London TfL will literally fine you if you use one for personal use.
7:05 looks so beautiful! Love what you've done
Loving the series!! The SanFran area is sweet!! What about a cable car that goes from the new beach area to that old fortress? Maybe add some other relating attractions to the area? you could expand the park area to include it.

Love the Town it looks so good with all the Details you`re putting in. Keep spoling us with many more episodes :)
I love the San Fransisco area, it looks amazing. The wavy street especially, I think it really fits in well.

That SF area is beautiful!
there’s a really nice beach asset collection called “build your own beach” or such 👍
I'm from SF and that weird long bit when you zoom in on some houses on the hillside is totally a thing. Houses actually look like that on some of the steeper hills.
Love this series! Glad that you are back with Cities:Skylines
You should consider building an underground metro line parallel to the beach.
I was shocked when I googled this street and saw an above photo... you NAILED IT James!!!!
Woow, the new San Francisco inspired area is so beautiful and lovely! I loooove the key with the little shrubs, it's amazing, you've done good Semaj.
Jams, this Lombard St area looks amazing. I think your best work on this city yet.
Love this series, and love the San-Fran inspo for the new area! super cool :) I reckon the old fort/ruins would be really cool if you transformed it into a theme park - sorta like how Luna Park in Sydney has older buildings as part of it.
As a San Francisco Bay Area native, the random fire was hilarious and suprisingly accuate. We get fires quite often here 😂
Speed up those trams to at least 30kmh or shorten the line. Someone said it should go from new SF area to the old fort thing on the beach and i totally agree. Love what you have done this episode.
I love the San Francisco district - it's so aesthetic pleasing! 😍 And I suggest renaming Heather Beach to SanD Francisco Beach 🏖😅
Can't wait for more episodes of this!! 😃
Looove the new SF area so much, it looks fantastic! Also a big fan of the festival island idea, can't wait to see that

It would be really cool to have a wharf with an amusement park or aquarium near to or coming out of that beach you just created in this video! Something similar to what San Francisco has with Pier 39 or Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
also cable cars are historically slow and driving down Lombard Street is mostly just for tourists lmao
The little beach parking looks so good, you should definitely keep it!
Looks cool, even my mom thinks its cool! 😎
I just lived nearby SF last semester and now you build that San Francisco area, I am nostalgic now 😭 And yes, the cable car is one of the old ones, it goes to the top of Lombard Street and stops before the intersection.
The beach area is fantastic. It has very clearwater beach vibes in Florida with all the shops and hotels.
I love the beach area! It might be good to have only a small cable car area, and the rest of that line is normal tram, like run the cable car from Heather Park to Heather Beach. Could still up the speed a little bit even then.
maybe for the beach you could see if there's any beach assets like umbrellas or sun beds to fill up the beach a bit more, loving the city btw!
I was about to leave a comment about turning the small beach into something like Oriental Bay in Wellington NZ (very nice beach near the city but not the main downtown, with steep hills behind and expensive housing) then the randomly generated name was Oriental Park hahaha
The San Francisco area looks awesome!
When are you planning to release the next episode? Can't wait
Don't forget that nightclubs only properly function when it's actually night in the game.
Really nice work with the San Francisco area! 😀👍 You should definitely have more areas like that! 🤩
I screen capture the Lombart Street aswell, because it’s so cool!! Awesome work!!
i love the SF area! it feels super duper cosy! for future ideas, how about a massive walking track/board walk along the coast line would be really cool! and super realistic to other coastal cities. and maybe a few smaller uni campuses in other areas of the city? like a smaller one in the city that's med/law based, a trade based campus way out past the industries, and a liberal arts focused campus somewhere else urban
The cable cars are good at that speed. The route is good too, although along the road where the big wheel is, I think the cable car line should have its own dedicated tramway beach side.
Loving the build though, thanks for the entertainment.
I love the Lombard street ! You could do an amusement park at the fort and you can extend the cable car / tram there :)
Best cities skylines series right now
I love the beach area.
It looks amazing as always. Getting so much inspiration from watching these videos 🤩
Omg I love the crooked road! I've drove down it before. It was a cool experience.
I'm obsessed with this addition to the city 😍
I mentioned the San Fran design a few episodes back, though I don't think you're referring to my comment I'm so happy to see this implemented
Amazing work flabliki👏

Love the San Fran area
I think the beach would be cool with a surf lifesaving club on the waterfront road, give it a real beachy vibe!
See if you can get the peeps walking around the castle.
in my city we have a radio tower on a similar hill near the low density buildings. loving this series the city looks so amazing!!
Love the new San Francisco and beach sections!! What about some shops/stalls tucked under the key at beach level?
Totally! Do a tour bus and a walking tour route! It would be great!
Love this episode! especially the trams that connect the two beaches. only thing off-putting is the piers on the beach look a lil randomly placed
A suggestion for connecting the power is using a Wind Turbine that could be a feature for Heather Beach and you could probably add stuff like beach volley ball and restaurant pier to it too.
Campfires, tents and public bathrooms could work on the beach. Maybe a boat tour?
you said early on you wanted to do a private beach. That SF area is now perfect for that!
