I really like how the city is coming along. Here are my two cents Beach-it can be a long beach with hotels and park rides like the Ferris wheel. Like a blend of a resort and a boardwalk. Train-can lines not go underground? Usually, the commuting trains that I’ve seen are either underground, suspended above ground to not interrupt traffic, or travel alongside roads and not intersect like that frater line that’s semi visible going through the city. University-maybe you can take the back road and make it go underground so you can expand the campus up till the park. This could also create a link between the two so that, story wise, students can go to the nature park to destress after class. Mall-that area looks like a shopping plaza. These places can be pretty big, usually they have parking in the middle and stores surrounding the parking area. Keep up the good work. I love seeing how the city grows and evolve.
Oh I have a good place for a trade school university or just an university... At 1:16:17 in the top right or northeast of the shopping mall section there's a hill.. That's where I think would a great place for one...
Nah, halfway through I'm always horrified. A lot of other Cities' content I watch are so meticulous and thought out. James just wings it and yet he'll make it look good, in the end.
I love this series so much! One suggestion though, instead of the expo center why not have the aquarium there instead since it backs up onto the water.
How about making a theatre district (Broadway/went end kinda) in the city? I don’t know if it would even be possible or if there’s enough theatre buildings to make it, but it would definitely be a cool addition to the city!
Story of all his series. I hate getting invested in them because of this. He goes balls out to start then slowly just stops. After a month we'll get a "final episode" where the city is forced to be finished, then he'll disappear for months. I really hate that I enjoy his videos so much because of this, but I can't help it.
I'm so happy we have another episode, I was hoping we would get one this week! Love the mall, and the new residential area is looking good too. I think you're right in that it shouldn't get taller, so hopefully you can get the mod that allows you to make whole districts historical.
Love that the train line is exposed! There's so many areas in the US that have train lines running above ground essentially through town but people never notice them. Also looking forward to the tapering off of density ultimately to huge neighborhoods of large homes on large lots and cul-de-sacs that aren't gridded.
Okay James has gone from posting everyday to posting on once a blue moon! Hope everything is well on your end buddy and hoping to see the next video soon
I've been binge watching this series all week as I have COVID and I just wanna say thank you James for being a real source of comfort through some really rough days, I hope you're doing well and looking after yourself - we appreciate you so much 💜
Behind and catching up on the series. I love that as of the beginning, the corpses in the mansion are still rotting, after how many decades now? Lol. So curious to see if they'll still be there by the end of this episode. Placing my bets!
james!! its so good to have you back :) i think the most interesting tram switchback in sf is the beach street and hyde street stop, if you needed something to take inspiration from! you definitely have space for a similar park and such on the coastline :)
Please don’t develop along the riverways too much. I really want to see a bunch of tiny hillbilly communities only accessible by dirt road and ferries.
Ive been binge watching this series, its really been helping me get through the boring days at my internship, I didn't even realize that this was the last episode!!! I hope you're doing well man and I hope you come back soon for more parts! :)
I’ve binged all of these episodes over the last couple weeks and I’m finally caught up. I’ve been dying to say (and yelling at my screen) that the cargo port and cargo train line should go in the same area that James has been planning to put the airport. It makes a lot of sense for them to be near each other and the original industrial area. Plus the little peninsula that sticks out would help hide the port from other parts of the city
26:30 - might I recommend making that whole track section elevated? I think it would make sense for the tracks to stay elevated leaving the central station until they reach the outskirts of the city, and it would keep you from having to do funky slope stuff, anddd it would allow for the districts between the highway and the sea to be continuous (if you use vanilla elevated track styles) as opposed to having the beachfront district, then the rails, then one super skinny district between the rails and the highway. I personally would say the highway should be elevated as well as it leaves the big interchange, such that it would allow for easier connections to the inland areas, but that’s just me. Great to have you back!!
The happiness I felt when seeing you upload a new city skylines video 😍 also for inspo for your shopping mall, please see The Metrocentre in Gateshead, UK!!! I love relaxing episodes like this
had a thought for the new residential area, especially since zoning it builds a lot of the same buildings anyway: what if part of it was like an housing development where all of the buildings were the same on purpose? i'm thinking like stuy town in NYC where the buildings are kind of spaced out and there's lots of greenery around them
idk feels kinda shit to be left hanging like that. I dont mind some waiting but 2 month without hearing anything just feels like city skylines viewers dont matter.
It's kind of shitty to demand something like this. James does this series for fun and right now he seems kind of busy with all the Sims content going on and also the house renovation he and Deli are doing so it's totally understandable. Yes, we all are waiting for a new episode and I'm hoping that he will upload one soon but it's not like he leaves us hanging or anything. James doesn't owe us anything actually.
@@Coronaria32 I didnt demand an episode nor did i use profound language or anything. I guess in this PC cuddly Bubble everyone is expectet to be in asking not to be forgotten is considert shitty.
Welcome back. Hope all is well and you are rested and relaxed. You may want to think about moving the freight station by the oil industry off the main road. You could make a small access road that runs parallel with the main road in front of the station. This could help keep traffic flowing on the main road as the trucks pulling in and out of the station will slow traffic. You might also want to consider more lanes on that main oil industry road so you can have dedicated turning lanes. (Or at least asymmetrical roads)
Always worth the wait for your videos!! Edit: Amusement Park on the beach? I can't remember if you've done it before, or if ConflictNerd did it, but it looks super cool!
Where the street goes down into the parking lots by the expo and museum you could have that also enter into a large boardwalk you could do with like shops and stuff. Similar to what you did with the beach earlier but maybe more with a summer beach vibe like volleyball and surf shops and could do a small amusement park on the boardwalk like in Santa Monica and Ocean City.
Thought of some lore to help with the zoo on that mini mountain by Bedford. I'm thinking the whole area around it was originally intended as a settlement in honour of the Dukes of Bedford. So you'd have the Russell Estate on Mt Bedford surrounded by districts named for their lesser titles: Marquess of Tavistock, Earl of Bedford, Baron Russell, Baron Russell of Thornhaugh, and Baron Howland. Things got started off then the money fell through, land was sold for the railway, then the Government built a highway through part of it cutting off Bedford coast, etc etc, and now it's all part of Bowser Bay City and Russell Estate is now a zoo.
Glad to see you back on! :D I caught up from episode one till 24 in the meantime, haha. Take all the time you need, this series is for your enjoyment too :D
You laughed when you talked about a hotel near a walmart but honestly there are a ton of hotels near the walmart in my town and in a bunch of the towns i've visited around the US
I really love that your videos are always at least an hour long - if not a little longer. I don't mind the wait between episodes because I feel you make it up with longer videos. 🤩
Maybe the tram turnaround at the downtown beach could be a sort of "panorama-turnaround"? So guests coming from the city will get a proper view of the water before being dropped off. Also i feel like a big ugly concrete structure in the middle of the beach is just the right kind of ugly 😁
you could probably reduce the funding youre spending on the university since it is probably already upgraded, and it can start making you money instead of costing you money
For the train station by the mall it could be good to use that station that has access on both sides of the track. As it is right now, the mall has access but any of the high denisty residential and offices on the other side have a much tougher time getting to the station. More access to public transportation is always a good thing.
As someone that lives with trains in their town you usually have them filtering the highway so they don't disturb businesses and traffic... this is giving me anxiety hahaha
I have been looking forward to this episode since the notification the other day and this whole video is so good. Congratulations on your new milestone !! I love the way the train line and highway flows through the city. It doesn't only look good, it works!! Just like the big tram stops downtown, they are awesome. I wonder whether the lack of tourist in your city has something to do with the disconnected intercity train. I feel like the questionable space elevator is a very James-thing to add in, but I'm sure many tourist will also be able to eventually get there once you are able to bring in PLANES!! ♥ How about a runway along the beach? ;)
