    Thanks Dave. Good overview, but as some others have said, to have to pay again to upgrade for a relatively recently released V1(only bought 9 months ago) is annoying. I think they have just made the product what it should have been on first release, and most companies would have released this as a major dot upgrade included in the first year of updates, like Topaz do. Anyway, rant over. I love your TK8 videos and the fresh ideas you bring, so keep up the good work!

    Hi Dave. Thanks for this quick overview. I currently own Topaz Sharpen AI and Denoise AI as well as the original PureRaw version. I purchased PureRaw four months ago. I am not happy that I now have to pay an upgrade fee for PureRaw 2. I may give PureRaw 2 a miss as I find I tend to use Topaz more often anyway as I like the level of control I have with Topaz.

      Sam, I am in the same situation as you as I had purchased Pure Raw not that long ago. Find the new Pure Raw workflow with Lightroom interesting and much better then with version one. I may bite the bullet and purchase version 2. I do have Topaz Denoise but like the new workflow with Pure Raw. Cheers!

      @@samelogio7441 For the time being I doing the 30 day free trial to see if I like it better then Topaz DeNoise. Just did a couple of images today using both programs and so far I really can’t tell much of a difference. But for now I will just use the Free trial and decide the end of 30 days. Still have Pure Raw version 1 installed also. So if you do try version 2 trial it does not overnight version 1. Cheers!

      Sam just another followup as I will not get the update version of Pure Raw 2 as I had some issues. After contacting DXO support I was informed to run Version 2 using Rosetta since I am on an Apple MacBook 16" M1. I want to move forward not backwards. So for now I will not bet getting this updated version. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video, Dave. For those of us who don't use lightroom, PureRAW 2 works in a non-Adobe workflow, too.

    Hi Dave: Thanks so much for bringing this video to your community in such a timely manner. I have been working with this application for a few days and I must say I am very impressed with the results. I have used it on several of my older camera RAW formats and the results have been very encouraging indeed. Cheers, Keith

    I know what the topic this video is about. Yet some videos on your workflow with DxO Photolab Elite is what I am looking for. Thank you, David. Have a nice day. Milan

    Dave, Thanks for posting this review of DXO Pure Raw. I find the new workflow with Lightroom very interesting. Was not that long ago that I purchased version 1. I may bite the bullet and pay the upgrade price of what I believe is $79. Do have Topaz Denoise but like the Raw workflow of Pure Raw better with Lightroom. Cheers!

    Thanks Dave for the review. As I use ACR+Bridge and don't own a Fuji X-Trans camera, this upgrade is probably no use to me so I will stick with v1.5

    I own and use DXO Pure RAW2, although the beginnings of working with it were difficult. First I couldn't see files from older cameras and now I can't send images to this program for processing from Lightroom. ERROR .... is displayed. The company also did not respond to me by reducing noise and correcting lens distortions sensational. It's a fine grain that leaves the image actually helping the image and kind of sharpens it, so I wouldn't consider it a disadvantage. In my opinion, minimal grain is better than noise-free soap photography. But this is just my opinion. Besides DXO Pure Raw2, I also use Topaz Labs to reduce noise in my photos. However, I use Pure RAW2 as a standalone plug, from which, after reducing the noise, I immediately send the photos to the target directory in Lightroom, which is launched in Windows from the Pure RAW2 position. I greet the city of "Fortress Przemyśl" from Poland. Thank you, as always, for good advice and for reminding me of the basics without which I would not develop.

    I have noticed when I use the Lightroom workflow, DxO applies some weird extra sharpening that gives images an oil painting effect. I took the same image manually into DxO with the same settings and did not have that issue. I tested it with 10 images and got the same results. Made sure lens corrections were off too.

    Hi Dave, I have Pure Daw 2 and can’t get it to be a plug in for Lr or Photoshop. I’d like it to be in my workflow and not using it as a standalone program. How did you put it in your export menu?

    Thank you for the good explanation. I thought this would be a good tool for some of my high ISO bird photos. I already have LR/Photoshop and Topaz AI/Denoise/Sharpen. I would like Nic Collection for help in processing B&W photos. I see all three of these programs have a Denoise and sharpening. How would you approach Noise in photo with all these options? Does DXO Pure raw have a way to decrease percentage of noise amount?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 роки тому

      DXO Photolab 5 is really excellent and they have Deep Prime Noise reduction, which is excellent. The added bonus of DXO Photolab 5 is you can run the NIK Collection right from it. Deep Prime is very close in quality to Topaz DeNoise but Topaz has the edge in my opinion.

      @@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks for this added information. I'll check into this. Currently, my workflow is pretty deep in LR and Photoshop for photo organization and editing. I'm always open to any ideas ... there's so many options! And I like the Nic Effects, Topaz and DXO plugins too ..

    Workflow is lacking in that the denoised file and original file are not grouped. This is a biggie for me. It takes considerable time to group them even using some automation. I am usually working with 50 to 200 files in batch mode.

  • @Yalelax

    Hi Dave: For those who do not have a Fuji camera what is the advantage of the new version? Why spend the additional sums? In addition, the file size has increased dramatically which might be an issue for some with less sophisticated computers. Finally, has DxO enabled one to remove the sharpening from the work flow?
    Thanks.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 роки тому

      I think it comes down to the new Lightroom workflow. It has really been improved. I own PhotoLab 5 so I think it would be redundant for me to get it because I already have Deep Prime. However, it would speed up my Lightroom workflow if I only wanted to sharpen and reduce noise. It is also supposed to process files faster and I did notice a speed increase. You do have an option not to apply Global Sharpening and or Lens Corrections.

    • @samelogio7441
      @samelogio7441 2 роки тому

      If you use the DXO PureRaw 2 sharpening and lens correction features then DXO tells Lightroom not to do these again when you are sent to Lightroom there so that these features are not applied twice. Most people used to complain that DXO images were over sharpened. This should correct that issue.

    Hi Dave: I used the link from above and downloaded the trial version of DxO Pure Raw 2 a short while ago. When I try using the Lightroom plug-in to use the trial version, the process runs through; but gives me the following error message: "An internal error occured: ?:0: attempt to index 'rootfile' (a nil value)"
    Can you please tell me what this error coule be telling me?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 роки тому

      I am not sure Susheel what that might be. Other than that, does it work. It might be because it is a trial version that the Lightroom Plugin doesn’t work.

    In my experience, Pureraw2 it's not significant faster at all, just stick to version one and save yourself some money.
