Star Fox 64 is a 3D rail shooter for the Nintendo 64. It was the 2nd officially released game of the Star Fox franchise (not counting the cancelled Star Fox 2 ( tasvideos.org/493G ) on the SNES). The game takes place within the Lylat solar system where Fox, Falco, Slippy, and Peppy all are on a mission to defeat the evil mad scientist Andross.
This TAS by WarHippy ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/W... ) shows the game being played on expert mode (which is only unlocked after having completed the game prior) while also aiming to get as high of a score as possible on all the levels. Sometimes the player has to take a death near the checkpoints to kill a few extra enemies to get a higher score. - Ігри

Never in my childhood had I imagined:
Charged blasts are OP
Losing your wings doesn't actually matter, nor does phasing through most objects by ramming them.
Some background elements are actually enemies
Dying preserves your kill counter
You can spam the torpedos with no self-damage (same with bombs/charged shots)
Also the way slippy falco and the bosses just get aimbotted down was hilarious af.
Yeah this tas was killin me with that aimbot
Add to that not needing to actually lock on with the charge shot or even hit the target
Lose the wings makes the Arwing going down slowly and can't upgrade the laser
I also had no idea that the amount of kills you got apparently determines how much HP your teammates recover. It was wild to see full restores from almost no health
@@MsAmber82 It doesn't mean you can't upgrade it, you just lose what upgrades you have. Getting a Laser Upgrade instantly repairs the broken wings and gives you Twin Lasers. Which means the standalone Wing Repair item is just an emergency you'll only ever see if you keep breaking them.

Beating expert as a kid and earning the on foot model in battle mode… oh geez what an amazing time that was. Watched and love the whole video and can not imagine why they are not making the epic follow up!!!

Autoscroller TASes are weird and TASes of games with aiming are cursed, but this is a particularly special combination of both
Watching this Venom play thru is like watching someone do a no-damage, APC, Lvl 1 fight against Yozora with Kupo Coin Steal and making it look stylish.
Are we sure it's a good ending to have this power-mad fox be rewarded? All he knows how to do is blast things. Including his allies.
I mean I guess it beats having Andross control the solar system, but.... if Fox is stronger than Andross.... did we just create an even bigger monster?
Questions to be answered in the Gamecube games, I suppose.

i think this is all what we thought we looked like while playing this game
i enjoy rewatching classics with different modes, max score was super interesting to watch, the ocean level particularly was of highlight because you really show where all the hidden enemies are.

I'm sad SF hasn't gotten any games (let alone good games) a while now, unpopular opinion I actually really like SF: Assault I think it's a fun game albeit very different than SF64 me and my bro have so many hours in SFA multi from when we were kids, I think it's underappreciated simply BC it has to live in the shadow of SF64

These high score runs always have too much Katt, and not enough Bill (by not enough I mean no screen time at all). RIP Katina.
I think if, in universe, Star Fox had this many kills because of the way this game counts them General Pepper would investigate them for fraud.

11:25 12:45 where do all those hits come from? what enemies are there?
It’s a glitch/exploit. When a clam is destroyed, it does an animation where it opens/folds up all the way. If you shoot a torpedo next to it during this animation, the game still detects it as a live enemy, so he’s using the seaweed to have tons of torpedos explode next to it = tons of extra hits. This same thing happens with the pillars when they’re not destroyed

The aquas level in the N64 version is really hard. You can't see anything. But the 3ds version is better. You can see everything.
