    Going through the video, so the comment will be updating:
    Premise - I love GRFS and I'm also a sucker for the original 2001 game, which was my first tactical shooter.
    1) movement: the movement in console GRAW was stiff and dull, Future Soldier is one of the best TPS cover shooters to have ever existed. I can see your point with it not belonging to the series...(I'd say more to a part of the series, since I'd love to see a GRFS 2 someday, with a more high-octane, intense fighting base rather than ONLY tactical based GRs (even if done well). But that's me, because I love shooters that involve concious movement.
    2- Futuristic gear is a staple of the GR series IMO, you win a 4 on 30 because of the gear (not really realistic, but hell isn't it fun?)
    3- I agree that unfortunately allied AI and mission approach in GRFS was poorly conceptualized when it comes to SP, I've never tried coop campaign tho.
    4- I get the "Russian ultranationalists" part, but hey think it company-wise, not really a smart idea to risk a lawsuit from a state (look at what happened with Wildlands). Plus: to me it felt genuinely good when in the last missions I had to help democratic russian forces which are trying to stand up and fight against RR.
    5- small correction: the missile doesn't hit the tower, it's merely intercepted during flight just above the city by what in the lore was a missile shield defense system.
    Conclusion:
    I get part of your points, don't agree with some, but that's cool man. IMO ubisoft should get the best of both worlds and make both fast paced GRs and (way) more tactical games akin to the original.
    FS as I said is my favourite TPS ever, so I come biased by that, but especially on pad it was fire and controls were well-thought and placed. MP was fantastic and Guerrilla mode too.
    A part that I think you didn't put in the review was Gunsmith. In 2012 it was ahead with MoH Warfighter in this role and caught the right balance between gameplay options and elements at disposal (unlike new CoDs).

      @@Kyanpepper25 GRFS had the superior gameplay, cover mechanics, animations, and while the story was basic, it still felt grounded and realistic. GR:W and BP had a cool open world, but the gameplay was a massive downgrade.

      Tbh, I understand your perspective cause its the same way i feel about the first GR game. I played it a lot as a kid and i really enjoyed it, so future soldier bothers me because it feels way more dumbed down, to me at least, than the original games.

  • @SolidKore
    @SolidKore Місяць тому +1

    Funnily enough this was the most sold Ghost Recon since GRAW, meanwhile Wildlands and Breakpoint are the laughing stock of Ghost Recon history...
    "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was a success for Ubisoft in the first quarter of 2012, with sales increasing 27.2% from the previous year to around $160 million. Console sales were higher than expected, and the game was the best-selling console game in the United States in May and June." (Never heard of GRAW let alone the sad sandbox titles selling a console by reputation alone. And this report comes from Xbox magazine...ya know, the same time Halo 4 released)
    You know what's truly disappointing? The current sandbox style of Ghost Recon and HEAVY lack of a successor to the Splinter Cell series...And you're calling this jewel trash when all people want are the MP days of this and GRAW.

    • @Kyanpepper25
      @Kyanpepper25  Місяць тому +2

      As much as I do dislike the crappy "open worlds" GR games, Hyper linear ones are just as bad.
      It has no creative or tactical freedom. As I stated before, Ghost Recon was all about tactical freedom, and letting you handle objectives however you want, and command your squads to achieve them.
      Call me old school, but i much rather prefer the original Ghost Recon Vs this game, and day of the week.
