Funny thing is most of the stuff in the game does actually exist in some way today including the Robo dog (even armed ones) and the AR helmet, hell the next generation sight for the US Army's Next Generation Weapons Program literally has an irl aimbot built in.
@@Gatorade69 I don't know if any units have had their hands on prototypes of the sight but I know for a fact the 82nd airborne division is playing with the AR goggle things. I'm sure someone in uniform or contractors have been able to use it though, I mean how are they gonna develop it without people testing it?

I really liked the mission where the enemies start fucking with your HUD. They jam it or something and you have no idea what’s real and what’s not. I just wish they fleshed it out a little more since I remember this part going for a solid 5 minutes before soldier army man tells you to turn off the hud.
I actually remember all 4 Ghosts in the campaign, I think "soldier army man" was codenamed Ghost Lead And yeah that mission was in Georgia IIRC, I think it was the bad weather that made their cross comms act up or something
@Omegaforge1 yeah I think it was them and it was overlord who shut down their gear in response to it acting up, forcing you to finish the rest of the mission without the cross comm that always tells you your combat status

I mean the only games to come out after are only the multiplayer game that nobody played and the two open world games that have a story about as interesting as cardboard. I wish they would return to the classic ghost recon 1 and 2 games I grew up with or at least the advanced warfighter type gameplay. Same goes for the classic r6 games too. At least I still have games like arma and squad to help scratch that itch.
It’s a cool game, but for me the original Ghost Recon games are the best in terms of it feeling like it’s based on the real world. Of course their graphics and gameplay is outdated, but they were true Tom Clancy games through and through.
One thing I loved about game was that aiming speed was controlled by all the stuff you tacked on your gun so folks who struggled with aiming speed weren't seriously handicapped while playing online. It also created guys who would build the most chopped up submachine guns to charge people who couldn't turn fast enough
Crazy how most of the stuff that was featured in Future Soldier was still in its prototype phase truly lived up to its name. Portable drone quad copters? Marine Corps and the Army has those down at the squad level. HUD? IVAS existed and its still in its testing phase I believe. Optical camo? Don't worry I believe they're still being researched as of now
Ratchet deadlocked had a bit of that with the 2 robot guards you get aspetto companions. One is a scared recruit and the other wan a veteran. They had good lines but few in general
a rudimentary optical camo is exist, it is just a thin Oled TV that you can place in front of you to hide behind it, like fictionalised in Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, hallway scene.
Honestly the last good GR game made before the franchise fell to Ubisoft's open world sameness and before GR got turned into an unwanted battle royale game, which is thankfully canceled

You should play the advanced warfighter games. Advanced warfighter 2 still has one of the most memorable sequences for me. It also has the best multiplayer in the franchise imo.

For an old game that no one remembers, this looks pretty good and well made. Maybe not all the way through but short clips look pretty nice at least. Even the graphics don't look that dated except for the gray town near the middle.
The game was excellent in terms of technicality. It functions well and its smooth in every aspect. However, the game is boring due to the generic level design.
I actually got to playtest this game with a group of kids way back before it came out. I was in some after school class that was all dudes and we got to go to the "Dev studio", it was called and play the game. It was pretty awesome.

There's also a companion short movie, Ghost Recon: Alpha. Honestly the best thing that came from these "modern" Ghost Recon games.
