I know right! My son fell in love with 80's Billy Cosby stand up. And good lord, Mel Brooks movies from the 70's & 80's are some of his favorites ever. Andrew Dice Clay stand up & movie from the 80's made him laugh so hard his bodily function kinda got weak laughing so hard. All this started around the age 6. He's 18 now, & tries to show it to his friends. A good bit of them can't keep their attention on it long enough to watch it. Others love it, & never heard of any of it. And some just can't get it at all. But younger ppl will really love these comedians. 🇺🇸
Years ago I waited on him in a restaurant. He had about 6 people with him. Everything went well and at the end the bill was handled by someone with him. He gave me a pretty good tip. All of a sudden, Rodney came back in and gave me $50, which in those days was a lot! He said, " Have a good life kid!

Tv was much more strict. Rodney could cuss and be dirty in the clubs. Think Bob Saget or Gilbert Gottfried in their TV vs stand up. It is brilliant that they can kill it both ways though

All of his movies were funny but the absolute best has to be the classic, Caddyshack. Bill Murray was also hilarious in it. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

Comedy is timeless and comedians try not to steal so that’s why you have to go back in time to see some content. I remember listening to Redd Foxx album my dad had and I had never heard anyone talk like that. Also, comedy is subjective. If you’re the only one laughing then that’s funny. I can’t tell you how many times I busted up laughing out loud before realizing I was the only one laughing. Then I’m laughing at that too 🤣🤣🤣
A couple of awesome movies that he's in: Caddyshack (a great comedy, that includes Rodney) and Back To School (that Rodney stars in). Both are classics worth seeing. He also was hilarious as a recurring guest on The Tonight Show w/Johnny Carson. The interviews were always setups for him to unleash his "I get no respect" comedy bit.
Van, I 100% agree with you about how people need to laugh at comedy shows. It's a proven fact that laughing, even when it isn't genuine, raises the good hornome levels in your body and improves stress levels. Thats why we have "laugh therapy" and "laugh yoga" and I believer there are laugh parties too, but don't quote me on it. If you're paying to go see a funny human, you should be healthier when you left - because of all that good laughing you did inside. Don't be a hater, just enjoy the show! 🤪

They weren't self conscious when laughing at the outrageous and ridiculousness of the human condition.The comedian's were equal opportunity offender's of the foibles on both the left and the right political types. This reminded me of Georgetown in Texas. The police would park an empty patrol car across the street from the high school to slow down traffic in the school zone. Every day students would put a "For Sale" sign on the car.

I remember when he appeared. Comedy had changed to monologue. One Line Zinger comedians were dying out like Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Red Buttons, etc. Don Rickles went abrasive & mean, Bill Cosby was stories of childhood. Richard Pryor was stories of everything. Hee Haw had hillbilly one liners but, Rodney was all about quick zingers. He hovered around the No Respect angle & was a King of comedy. Bob Hope was great at that too.
Rodney was the absolute best one liner joke tellers that ever graced the stage. I have seen all of his stuff and never get tired of it. He said his kid brother was so mean he would tape worms to the sidewalk so birds would get a hernia. His movies were off the chain also. I miss him. He was great

Rodney Dangerfield was the funniest guy ever to grace the stage. He introduced us to many comic's we love today. Rodney Dangerfield grew up poor with an abusive mother and and absent father that seen him one time a year. He had a very hard life. If you want to hear it from the man himself then look up the Rodney Dangerfield interview with Howard Stern. RIP Rodney and thank you for all laughter you brought to our lives.
Rodney Dangerfield was a legend. You should definitely check out one of his movies. Back to School was hilarious and he also was on Caddyshack. Oldies but goodies. To me Back to School was hilarious and he absolutely shined as an older rich man going to college. Check it out if you can♥️

I remember when he appeared. Comedy had changed to monologue. One Line Zinger comedians were dying out like Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Red Buttons, etc. Don Rickles went abrasive & mean, Bill Cosby was stories of childhood. Richard Pryor was stories of everything. Hee Haw had hillbilly one liners but, Rodney was all about quick zingers. He hovered around the No Respect angle & was a King of comedy. Bob Hope was great at that too.
Rodney was the absolute best one liner joke tellers that ever graced the stage. I have seen all of his stuff and never get tired of it. He said his kid brother was so mean he would tape worms to the sidewalk so birds would get a hernia. His movies were off the chain also. I miss him. He was great

Loved Rodney since I was very young, in 1970 I was about to begin College, he was around for many years he has a couple of movies where he is funny, too. Back to School and Caddyshack.
