Rodney is a classic. You should really check out some of the older comedians from the 70s and 80s. Just about anything went. Definitely check out Don Rickles. One on the best insult comedians ever. But he said, If I'm not insulting you, that's when you know I don't like you. Classic. Also Andrew Dice Clay. One of the heaviest ever using mannerisms and character. Shocked a lot of people in the day. Would again today also considering the woke PC atmosphere.

"I tell ya I get no respect" and straighten his necktie was his Dangerfield's schtick. Before Eddie Murphy made it big he asked Rodney Dangerfield how he did one night when they both performed at a Comedy Club. Dangerfield told Eddie that nobody wants to pay to hear a guy curse on stage. A year later after Eddie hit the big time and was performing in Vegas, he ran into Dangerfield in the mens room, and Dangerfield looked at Eddie and said "Who knew...". If you want to see some classic Dangerfield, watch the iconic movie "Caddyshack".

Remember it was the 70s and 80s, things were very different then. You could smoke in restaurants, the mall, and even in an airplane... So many old vaudeville comics that were on TV in the early days (1950>) knew how to read an audience pace their timing. These are the people who defined "performer" and "entertainer" and most did it without a word of profanity or obscenity. On stage in smaller clubs, they really let go there. Lenny Bruce, Mort Saul and Carlin took the turn toward politics and lost a lot of the artistry.
