Brilliant! Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve done many BMW engine swaps in the past and now I have to do one again, but don’t want to buy an engine crane to take up more room in the garage and become the perfect tripping hazard. This is perfect and can be easily used for other things with a truck bed. But the best thing is that it can easily be stored out of the way when you’re done with it 👌👏👍
This video gave me an idea to help build me a device to help remove the 200 lb ARE truck cap off my truck by myself. I would attach this to my hitch and facing inward and be able to lift up the cap and rotate it 180° away from the truck. Cone in handy when I need to transport a fridge.
How did you attach the jack to the hitch? Did the jack come with everything or did you have to buy the something else to make the jack attach to the truck. I’m interested in the jack set up. You skipped that part. I’m asking before I buy the jack.
The crane was attached to the hitch using the a hitch step. The hitch step has added support with an added adjustable hitch mounted to a hitch jack. The wench is mounted to the jack with an extra wench plate. 👍
Thanks, so we used the adjustable hitch after the hitch step to mount the trailer jack to. This was to just give the crane a bit more support right under the hitch step. 👍
I might have missed the reasoning. But the bar you cut the notch into to put the cable through is upside down. The one roller on the outside is supposed to be on top.
Reason we had to cut it is because the cable needed to fit through the crane. We added our own electric wench and the wench cable wouldn’t fit through the crane. At least that’s how I think I remember it 😁😁😁
Lol oh no I understood that part. But the end section is shipped upside down. There’s a roller that the cable rides on. Keeps the cable from fraying. No clue why they ship it the wrong way. I stole your idea tho, and used the step. I was gonna get someone to fab me up a plate but seen this video.
@@timbones7659 agree, it needs some more supports directly on the bottom of the step plate. Working in a few ideas for when we drop the new engine in 🙌

@@Itsallaboutthebuild I admit, I did not watch the entire video else the inappropriate music would have made me vomit. The videography is terrible because the videographer thought that the inappropriate background music was more important than clear concise instructions.

Interesting idea. I may have missed something in the video.... Where does the adjustable hitch come in?

@@BelcrossMobileRepair Fantastic, what will you be pulling or hauling with the crane???
It is a good idea but if you do it too often it will mess up the back suspension. Trust me I did a many times with that same idea he had.
