I did. Just think what could be done if he had full access to a large industrial machine shop and the free run of a giant scrapyard. Many of the inventors of 19th century farm machinery and technological innovation migrated to the U.S.A from that region. They turned vast prairie lands into mega grain farms.

Truth, and they will buy a crane from local store with fancy colours and shining covers than crane will brake on half trying to lift 100kg than they will see on inner side of fancy cover text Made in China. They will start appreciate :) home made staff.

Ingenious. I was a little worried that it looked like a winch rather than a hoist (braked v unbraked/gearing only), but it seemed to hold the load without problem. All pickups should have these!

It is not just that you are a GREAT fabricator, but moreso that you are a natural born engineer. Do you do any drawings or CAD models? Because you seem to have an overall picture of the finished product imagined before you start; on this particular one, somehow you envisioned the jack tower fitting behind the cab of the truck and also thought about the support foot function and storage beforehand. It is just so magical to watch you build a project with supreme practicality. Thank you, a proud subscriber.

Absolutely love the Engnerding you have put into this!
Since you have already got the winch. On it a pivot piece with a loop Eye could replace the Jack and eliminate the extra steps to get it prepared for working. Weld a hollow tube on the front side of the down leg support put a plunger in it and a slot to pass a lever into it with 2 clevis pins and a shackle to connect it to the winch pull up the lever the pivot reverses the action and pushes down lifting the foot up and then you can set your stability leg beneath it. You could even index it by several gates, and pin and once up simply twist it into the best level for it to hold there. When done simply remove the clevis pin and slide it up to height for storage !
    Great Work!

The best tools are homemade, that's the truth! No company would ever build something like that for an old truck model, and if custom made would costs more than the truck itself 🤣 but you made it in a fairly simple way (even if he use expensive tools you can actually make the same thing with cheaper tools, but in a longer and difficult way. Just check his earlier videos to see I'm right) and in the most comfortable way to use! Great job as always!

    Awesome.
To help load the truck, you could put a pully + locking cleat (used in sailing) on the far side of the bed to give you a line to pull the load horizontally over the bed. The locking cleat is not needed but it does make it easy to tie off/release the line one handed.
A carabiner on one end of the rope, would allow you to make a quick loop around the object and back to the rope. The loop would tighten under pressure and be easy to release once it is gone.
