Concise, clear, helpful and so beautifully silent! ❤
Worked like a damn charm and fixed both my toilets. The amount of water you've saved with a 4 minute youtube video is incredible
This is actually how I expect DIY videos should be...just simple and to the fix videos!! A million thanks!!
Thanks!
The water coming into my tank would start and stop in short bursts throughout the day. Looks like this may be the solution. Man, I love UA-cam!
The symptom you show in the beginning! Thankyou!.. sometimes Startling, and has even woke me up at night;[ ... had 2 different Plumber companies come to fix it. They both could'nt figure out what it was ..🤨 AND, both said, what looked like needed to be done was "a total tank rebuild" ..which would cost $275. ..... and then I find this blessing of a video.
No way. A good plumber should know right away what the problem is-it’s so obvious. Unless they just wanted to get as much money as possible from you. 🤔🤔🤔
Thank you for posting this. It was exactly what I needed to fix my Kohler. Less than five minutes to complete the repair.
Thank you! I've got a Kohler toilet that sounded like it was refilling every 2-3 minutes. I used a Kohler replacement but it was nice seeing step by step how to change it out! Mine was mostly disintegrated. Thankfully, I got the seal today cause it sounded like it was a continuous flow of water!
Out of the dozen videos covering leaks, your is the only one covering my problem/ fix. Thanks
You’re welcome. I have such hard water in my area that I need to replace this every 2-3 years. I come back to my own video to see how it’s done. 😂
Thanks so much Sir! My plumber is in COVID quarantine and your video showed how to change the one i have in my house! To the point, and great camera angle. MANY THANKS!!!!!!!!!! No more intermittent toilet running all night :-)
Well done bro. not a lot of yammering on. Just to the point and great camera angle. Thx!
I think it's a woman.
Thank you for posting this video. My Kohler toilet just started to do this (5yr old toilet). I pulled the tank cover off and expected to see the old flapper in there. Nope - it had that funky black tube thing in there (just like the one in your video). I thought I was in for a big job. Nope. Thanks again for posting!!
Mine went bad after almost 10 years. They really need to step up and make better quality parts.
Es el primer vídeo de enseñanza de plomería que el maestro no habla pero con los ademanes lo explica todo muy bien! Muchas gracias maestro!
Glad I found this. My toilet has done this off and on randomly. Im not trying to pay the water department for water I'm not using
After pulling out the white water tube on top, I didn't even need to unscrew the top. I found it easier just to release the metal chain, and put in the yellow replacement O-ring from top. Move it down to fit into the bottom. Re-attach the metal chain. Done! (This hack came about because I had a hard time removing the screw on top, and was afraid that I might break it!)
I had that problem too.
Perfect I've been driving myself crazy replacing everything and this is exactly what's going on! you the man
Awesome! Glad it helped!
I'm guessing the 69 dislikes are plumbers?
Good one .lol 🤣
Ah…back when you could actually see dislikes and people weren’t so soft…
Thank you very much for the video! This is exactly what’s happening with mine. Coincidentally, I have the same paint and tiles on my bathroom.
This is exactly the problem I’ve been having! Ordering the parts now! I’m pretty confident this will fix it! Thanks!
Let us know how it goes!
Brilliant. Now to explain to the hotel staff they need to come up here with that valve so I can get to sleep.
🤣🤣
Very helpful video....took me 5 minutes to fix both of my toilets after watching....might have taking me hours otherwise!
Thank you for such an easy to follow video. I fixed my toilet!! 👌
Thank you! Really simple and straightforward!
Ordering part today, will fix tomorrow!! Thanks!!!!
Thanks for posting this. I watched a video of another person explain how to clean it off and get to it but not how to replace it. Just cleaned it off; I’ll use your video if I have to replace it. Thanks!
Thanks you fixed the issue that seal was the problem!
Good video...jus started happening to my toilet..easy fix 👍👍👍
Woman here.( older)
Thank you!
Brought the refill fill kit
Hello
Had a full flapper.
The square peg doesn't fit in the round hole. Saw this and now I know!
Glad it helped!
thanks sooooooooo much for the fix. i love that there is no chatter or music. going to try this tomorrow
How did it come out?
@@chicagohandyman perfect!!
This video is excellent, great job. You showed everything clearly
You’re welcome!!!
Good video you don't blow your horn about your past like these other guys. Ty for a informative good video bro
👍👊👌
Thanks bro, you saved me the expense of a whole replacement kit!
You’re welcome. I hope the video didn’t contain any filler and got straight to the point.
Thank you for posting! This fixed my toilets and my frustration!
You’re welcome. Wasn’t it so simple to do?
It really helped me. Thanks for the instructions. Roger.
Also good to check the floaty part. Mine was overfilling and hitting the overflow just to trigger another refill(a different style flapper than this video). Float was set too high.
Great observation I'm going to home Depot right now thank you
now i can finally flush that big turd that's been sitting in my toilet for 3 weeks!
Wow! Thank you so much because of your video I fix the problem for only six dollars😃
Thanks. Your video and the part featured cost $7 to fix. Who knows how crazy a price a plumber would have charged!!!
It’s scary just thinking about it. 😱🤣
Very helpful and clear illustrations !
I think this may help, will try replacing the gaskets before more extreme measures. Thanks--even though I must add the I absolutely *despise* this tick-tocky "silent demo" style, it might do the trick.
Thanks for your help!!
This solved my problem. Whoever installed it put both of the seals on instead of 1. I took them both off, cleaned one a little, and put back on. All fixed.
Wow. Good job!
What about the water level being too high where the bobble plastic weight is positioned too high, can water leak into the valve, causing the water level to go down and refill?
Thanks for this! I came home from a wo-week vacation and mine was doing exactly that!
Great video, nice angles & it solved my problem.Thank you!!
Best video on this subject.
Awesome guy
Really appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Straight to the point in how to do it. Thanks for pointing out "Made in the USA". Buy American so we all win as a nation.
Hell yeah brother Trump 2024
After viewing your video I have the confidence to attempt to fix my wife's commode. Oh how I hope it works.
You’ll do just fine. Totally worth not being woken up in the middle of the night because the toilet randomly refills. Good luck!
I'd Flush mine.. no, the Wife. Lady go down the Hole..
Except my toilet doesn’t look like this
Question: Does this particular seal fit most toilets? Ours toilet is a Gerber brand. I don't have a manual for it and am not sure about replacement parts. The only marking I see on the toilet is: Gerber 1.28 gpf/4.8lpf 1.6 gpf/6.0 lpf.
No, it will not fit.
I have the same issue with my Kohler toilet but it’s less than 1/2 year old. The circular ring piece is still in perfect condition. Should I still replace it or perhaps it’s another separate issue with the toilet? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Mine has the same issue, but the ring looks brand new - did replacing it anyway solve the issue, or was it something else? Thanks in advance for any help! 😊
Did you ever figure out what the issue was...I think I'm having the same problem...I've replaced the fill valve and rubber flip up thing attached to the chain. Sorry I can't remember what it's called.
Thank you!!’ God bless you for helping others
You’re welcome!
Thank you!
A man of few words...good stuff bro
my exact problem!! thanks.
I had to do the same repair again last week. I had to watch my own video to remember how to do it. 🤣
Looks easy enough... bout to make a home depot run soon. Than you!
Where do I find the part you replace?
Thanks! That was VERY helpful!
Thank you sir, worked like a charm!
Can you do this without taking the bowl off on all toilets?? Mine doesnt have this exacty mechanism
Thanks, I had a same model and worked perfect...
Glad it worked out. Such an easy fix right?
thank you very much for this video! big help!
Helpful video, thanks!
You’re welcome. Hope it helped fixing yours!
Excellent!
Perfect! That totally worked!
Thank you!!
Thank you 👍👍👍
What’s the difference in the two rubber rings? Why that extra tab?
They’re different sizes for different manufactures. I just used the one appropriate for mine. The tab is there to distinguish the 2 rings from each other.
This valve seal would work for all the toilets?
No, only certain toilets. The kit contains 2 gaskets and the label will say which toilets they will fit on.
Most videos say that the flapper is the main cause of internal leaking of water. All videos show how to remove FLEXIBLE RUBBER flappers. My Kohler tank has a very HARD PLASTIC non-flexible flapper which i am unable to remove. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for the succinct video.
Thank you! I didn’t even have to say a word. 🤣
Thanks
Awesome and to the point
Thank you Mr. Rand
Very helpful clip!
Thanks!
Thanks for the vid but my toilet is in an enclosed unit so will have to be a plumber job unfortunately
Thank you good sir!!!
CRITICAL POINT. MADE IN THE USA.
Thanks homie this should fix my issue
Thanks bro straight 2 the point
My toilet makes a hissing flushing noise randomly.. I already flushed, cleaned, and replaced the rubber washer on the filled valve, also cleaned the red O ring of the flushed valve (it does not look worn out). I put some red food coloring in the water tank, it does not look its leaking 30 mins later into the toilet bowl. What else should I try? Must I replace the toilet now?
What about your flapper? Is that in good condition? Is your chain too short? Those are some other possibilities.
@@chicagohandyman .. Thanks, I will check those, I do not have flapper but a cicular flush valve
Thanks!
yep thats just what mine is doing. thanks off to Home Depot
My toilet is 8 years old and the red seal thing wasn’t even dirty. The one in this video is disgusting! For how long did this person go without replacing it?
It wasn’t anything gross. The red material was disintegrating. Probably due to the really hard water in the area.
I have a leaking toilet tank but there's no evidence (i.e., water ANYWHERE outside the tank). I'm guessing my flapper is bad so I replaced it but it is still leaking enough that water runs on again about every two minutes. Any thoughts?
Did you replace the gasket shown in this video?
Thank you, this saved my day :)
You’re welcome!
Thank
You’re welcome!
Bro, my step dad did this to their toilet AND IT HALFED THE BILL! Now I gotta do it on mine, thanks T
No doubt. It’s a $4 part that’s gonna save you a ton of money. Do it!
Why are there two seals? And one with a tab?
The other washer is for a different brand toilet
Saved my life
Men 1st the bed bugs now 2nd toilet , can I have some descent sleep f or egats 3rd
Thanks man
Where is the link to Amazon?
Is this item going to be compatible with my toilet too?
Depends. I did the repair on a Kohler toilet. Even still, you have to check compatibility with the actual parts inside the tank.
mine flushes sporadically every few seconds for about 45 sec but ONLY when I flush it myself manually. It won't flush all at once like before... anyone know why
I have not seen a toilet like this before
It’s very common in my area.
Thank yoooooooouuuuuuuu!!!
You’re welllllllllcome!! 😂
What did you do with the other valve seal?
It’s sitting in my stash of plumbing parts.
Tundra, Tools, and Tech Why does one have the little tab and the other doesn’t?
One fits a Kohler and the other fits an American Standard toilet.
Jennifer, did you fix it yourself?
A few comments would have made this video even better.
This is agonizing how slow he’s moving
Reuse of target bag in trash can. Classic.
