I started playing this song (and others) for my little girl (4 years old) during bath time. For a while, this was one of her favorites. This past summer, we went to a small local air show/vintage plane showing. Many of the planes were WWII vintage. The film is actually footage from the "Battle of Britain". Europe had fallen, the Americans were not yet in World War 2 and Britain stood alone against the Nazis. The pilots in the " Battle of Britain" were outnumbered 3 to 1, yet they prevailed. Bruce Dickinson has a pilot's licence and used it to fly the band to gigs in his customized 747.
Murders in the Rue Morgue and Tailgunner other high energy songs that kick ass from start to finish. Maiden 1984 Powerslave tour about the most fun I've ever had at a concert.
Apart from how awesome the song is, I have great respect for Iron Maiden's respect for history. Speaking as a dumb yank, a song like this has me contemplating the sincere resolve of the English people. For nearly a year they were the only major power to stand up against the axis powers while we in the states were still contemplating whether to get involved at all. Not just the tireless pilots he's singing about, going out again and again on seemingly endless sorties against the Luftwaffe, but the sheer stoic heroism of the citizens to face daily bombings and still carry on. From the fall of France and before to the end of the Battle for Britain and beyond, It is a testament to the strength of a people in the face of insurmountable odds.

I’ve always appreciated Iron Maiden’s efforts to have historical context to their songs, they’ve done a masterful job of it. What is great about this song is to remember the Royal Air Force pilots and the tremendous odds against them during the Battle of Britain in 1940 and to think of what they were able to accomplish when most of them were 19.and 20 or so years old, that is a very big lesson to be learned by today’s youth. Excellent job Preston, you have a passion for good music that is refreshing to watch.

Bruce brings it home! Steve started the band and often orchestrates, then the whole band have the instrumental element firing on all cylinders, but Bruce (literally too) pilots and lands it! Nice one Preston.
Dude, that is a perfect description of Bruce Dickinson's effect - Signature. I hope you consider reacting to "Run to the Hills". Not only is it from the album when he first joined the band (same album as Hallowed Be Thy Name), but this song is his John Hancock of Signatures. People may dog this song for various reasons but likely because they've heard it a zillion times. Truth be told, it's one of the songs that helped launch the band to super stardom. Every band member gets their time to shine in this song, there's a great build up after the solo midway, and Bruce's sign off at the end is even better than the one in Aces High. If you choose "Run to the Hills" for reaction, go with Official Video here on UA-cam for full effect. Best wishes and keep the faith!
Just finished his audio book of his autobiography. Great book. Have been jamming to Maiden since 81, and don't plan on stopping. My Favorite Metal Band Period.

Bruce treats his voice like an instrument. He didn't drink while on tour and didn't do the "drugs and rock and roll" life. He's a commercial pilot and flies Iron Maiden's commercial tour jet during their world tours. The whole band stayed pretty clean and drama free for the most part during their long career.
Love what you said about putting a signature on the song. That's when you know it's real, and alive as a song and as a band. You know they're excited about playing/recording it for people, and they don't hold anything back. The whole band, I love how they explode at the start of a gig, immediately you feel like you need to catch up. Then Bruce bursts out, and at 60, he still comes rushing out leaping over floor monitors, and after throat cancer, singing better than ever, and I mean that. Such good performers!
my favorite band also..... i have seen them 3 times...i wish to see them many more times. met Nico shook his hand the concert that happened at was the day before my 30th.... i am the same age as Bruce.....his voice style is my fav... deep purple was my fav until they came onto the scene in the 1980's . we (a friend and I) were going to get back stage the next day but one of the roadies made an obscene proposal to here and she was such a hot.head that she was going to hitchhike 1000 miles back home and I would not allow that Rolf 4 foot 10 inch girl woman to go alone so I went with her forfeited my front row seats and my Bethpage opportunity to protect my friend on my birthday 30th birthday I'll never forget that what a bummer!
I had the most of the same reactions when I first heard this back in 1985. This album is my favorite Maiden album by far. This band got me into heavy metal. I may not be a huge fan of what they are doing nowadays, but this band along with Rush and Metallica will always have a special place in my heart. I have recommendations, as well (they're all videos too): Iron Maiden - Two Minutes To Midnight Iron Maiden - Running Free (Live After Death) Iron Maiden - Wasted Years Iron Maiden - Stranger in a Strange Land Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great Iron Maiden - Can I Play With Madness Iron Maiden - The Evil That Men Do Iron Maiden - The Clairvoyant Iron Maiden - Tailgunner Iron Maiden - Wasting Love Iron Maiden - From Here To Eternity Iron Maiden - Brighter Than A Thousand Suns Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
The best IM song showcasing Bruce’s operatic vocals and Steve’s thunderous bass lines plus the rhythmic guitar leads makes this a all time classic...truly one of the best in my opinion.
Watching you watch this reminds me of the first time I heard it back in the mid 80’s. I finally saw them live a couple years ago, and when they played this (Aces High) I thought my head was going to explode. They bring that exact energy 30+ years later.
Aaaw this reminds me of when I was a kid. I would always push the rewind button on my CD player over and over whenever I'd hear something extra awsome and be absolutely fascinated.

I just started to watch your channel a few months ago...I really enjoy your channel you are very real and I love your reaction and how u love guitar I love seeing people react to music I have been listening to all my life keep up the great work...one request anthrax and public enemy bring the noise I think u will enjoy.... remember one fist in the air one foot in the gutter
Bruce treats his voice like an instrument. He didn't drink while on tour and didn't do the "drugs and rock and roll" life. He's a commercial pilot and flies Iron Maiden's commercial tour jet during their world tours. The whole band stayed pretty clean and drama free for the most part during their long career.
check WASTED YEARS by Iron Maiden!!! it's my fav
The solo gives me chills everytime
Great track. Adrian's solo is killer
I wish I could choose a favorite 😭
Love what you said about putting a signature on the song. That's when you know it's real, and alive as a song and as a band. You know they're excited about playing/recording it for people, and they don't hold anything back. The whole band, I love how they explode at the start of a gig, immediately you feel like you need to catch up. Then Bruce bursts out, and at 60, he still comes rushing out leaping over floor monitors, and after throat cancer, singing better than ever, and I mean that. Such good performers!
"Phantom Of The Opera" by Iron Maiden
IRON MAIDEN THE BEST BAND NO THE PLANET, FANTASTIC !
BRUCE DICKINSON is one of best vocalists in the world.
Video massa,valeu!
iron maiden - afraid to shoot strangers
Yeah, and two minutes to midnight.
Yes! The melody will break your heart.
YES MY FAVORITE BAND!!! Saw them live 2 weeks before my 18th bday (I'm 23 now)
my favorite band also..... i have seen them 3 times...i wish to see them many more times. met Nico shook his hand the concert that happened at was the day before my 30th.... i am the same age as Bruce.....his voice style is my fav... deep purple was my fav until they came onto the scene in the 1980's . we (a friend and I) were going to get back stage the next day but one of the roadies made an obscene proposal to here and she was such a hot.head that she was going to hitchhike 1000 miles back home and I would not allow that Rolf 4 foot 10 inch girl woman to go alone so I went with her forfeited my front row seats and my Bethpage opportunity to protect my friend on my birthday 30th birthday I'll never forget that what a bummer!
today is a good day - eddie lives
I remember when i heard this song for the first time at my friends place, i had my jaws down and was in delirium. Just lover that band. Perfection
About time KTF!!! needed some Maiden in your channel!!
You can make "react videos" for every iron Maiden song and feels the same every time man!!!! They are the Kings.
I had the most of the same reactions when I first heard this back in 1985. This album is my favorite Maiden album by far. This band got me into heavy metal. I may not be a huge fan of what they are doing nowadays, but this band along with Rush and Metallica will always have a special place in my heart.
I have recommendations, as well (they're all videos too):
Iron Maiden - Two Minutes To Midnight
Iron Maiden - Running Free (Live After Death)
Iron Maiden - Wasted Years
Iron Maiden - Stranger in a Strange Land
Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great
Iron Maiden - Can I Play With Madness
Iron Maiden - The Evil That Men Do
Iron Maiden - The Clairvoyant
Iron Maiden - Tailgunner
Iron Maiden - Wasting Love
Iron Maiden - From Here To Eternity
Iron Maiden - Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
Your enthusiasm makes these songs sound new again to me,I've heard them 1000 times but it's like hearing them for the first time again.
Preston, C'MON bro!
22 ACACIA AVENUE.
Let's do it!
Randy Cramer 👍 Live after death version!
Yes!!!!!
Nice., I completely forgot about that one.
Damn right! the continuing saga of Charlotte the Harlot!
hammersmith version
Maiden got me jacked before my high school and college football games!!!! I'm an 80s teen who was raised on Maiden.
Love your heart brother!!!!
Do Dance of death live version En Vivo, excellent performance, you'll definitely love it
one of my favorite songs of theirs ever! and i LOVED Bruce SO much back in the day....
Nightwish @Tampere the greatest show on earth PLEEEEEEEEEEASE
The best IM song showcasing Bruce’s operatic vocals and Steve’s thunderous bass lines plus the rhythmic guitar leads makes this a all time classic...truly one of the best in my opinion.
Whitesnake- Crying in the Rain. Powerful vocals and an insane guitar solo
Yessss
Watching you watch this reminds me of the first time I heard it back in the mid 80’s. I finally saw them live a couple years ago, and when they played this (Aces High) I thought my head was going to explode. They bring that exact energy 30+ years later.
Do Caught somewhere in time or Alexander the Great
Love Caught Somewhere In Time!
Aaaw this reminds me of when I was a kid. I would always push the rewind button on my CD player over and over whenever I'd hear something extra awsome and be absolutely fascinated.
My dude never disappoints! Peace my brother.
Quelle frappe. !!!! Survoltés après on saute de partout..!
Bruce Dickinson also has his own solo catalog! You should check out his songs "Kill Devil Hill", "Darkside of Aquarius", and "The Book of Thel."
Dissident Rage also Omega, taking the queen, God’s of war, accident of birth, chemical wedding and of course - tears of the dragon :)
Oh...and arc of space
Aquarius is great, though I liked Chemical Wedding more.
I enjoy seeing somebody truly enjoying metal songs such as these. There's so many "reaction" channels on UA-cam, but it's evident that these people are not enjoying it and they're pretending to like metal. I think your reaction videos are awesome cause you're feeling the music, enjoying every second of it. Iron Maiden is definitely one of the best metal bands of all time, top five or so in my opinion. Go see them live, it's an experience! Up the Irons!
Bruce can carry a note like it's got a handle.
Fuck yeah! I don't think I could handle maiden in concert! So many songs that get me reved up and blow my mind! One of the best of all time...
*Powerslave* was Iron Maiden's peak. They still did a lot of great stuff after this, but *this* is them firing on all cylinders and doing it perfectly.
02:33 THAT smile, THAT smile is what Bruce Dickinson is, that smile is what Maiden is. Omg gives me chill af 😍😍😍😭😭😭
Do Paschendale, an epic song!
LAYING LOW IN A BLOOD FILLED TRENCH
@@threadworm437 KILLING TIME 'TIL MY VERY OWN DEATH
Bruce just turned 60 last year and he still has that energy in their shows to this day. I'm going to see them in September when they play in Las Vegas. Will be my 12th time seeing them. They are a "Don't miss" live show. By the way, dig your channel. I think it's cool when you "bring that back" to relisten to a part. I can tell you feel the music. ✌
React to "Be Quick or be Dead" by Iron Maiden. Same energy as "Aces High."
Good song ...but no where near as good as aces high...this was maiden at there peak in every way!!
For sure. Just want him to enjoy another powerful one.
Be quick or be dad
Always have and always will love Maiden. Saw them in US several times and once in Sweden learned guitar playing them
Flight of the Icarus
Wasted Years
Stranger in a Strange Land
Flight Of The Icarus is highly underrated amongst Maiden fans, I believe.
Caught Somewhere in Time, Phantom of the Opera, The Evil That Men Do
Basically whole Somewhere In Time album is a masterpiece. Every damn song there is something else.
My absolute favorite bass line from Iron Maiden!!! Great Videos man! Wish I could hear all their songs for the first all over again
MAIDEN enough said......The Trooper....sick song great for a reaction video...
Hi, Preston. I'm brazilian and a huge fan of iron maiden and yours, of course. I love watching your reactions, specially to the iron maiden performances.
Up the Irons!
Wickerman live at Rock in Rio is an amazing video, great song and they totally killed it!
This is one of my favourite reactions ever. Glad you totally get the song and appreciate the music. Maybe have a word with Lost in Vegas boys. They don’t seem to get Iron Maiden at all.
the talisman live version. Is supreme
i dont usually like these reaction videos, but i love how you really pointed out the little things that are the best about this song
The Rime of the ancient mariner, from flight 666.
Love seeing the younger generation enjoy the same music i did and still do!!! God bless brother
Maidens are GODS, seen them live 4 times, all the shows were 10/10
Please react to Powerslave, a song about the death of an egyptian pharaoh and thoughts he has in his dying hours
I remember going to the store when this came out and buying it on vinyl and taking it home and playing it all day. As a teen they were the Band I loved the most and the very first concert I ever went to was Iron Maiden somewhere on tour
I've been jamming this song since I was six years old
It's been a while since I seriously sat down and listened to Maiden - watching this made me break out in a sweat/ goose pimples just like the old days! Cheers
Please react to Iron Maiden...POWERSLAVE!
Fantastic video, lots of people just react to Maiden but it's easy to see that you're FEELING it! Great stuff.
without a doubt Rime of The Ancient Mariner Live Flight 666!
MAD RESPECT to you man! Maiden has been my fav band since I was a kid. Watching your reaction, it's like I'm reliving my youth vicariously through your eyes. Awesome man, thanks for sharing!
