This is by FAR the best musical reaction channel on Earth. Your reaction to hearing "Hallowed Be Thy Name" for the first time is fucking priceless, and your genuine appreciation of, and enthusiasm for, Iron Maiden is SUCH a pleasure to watch. Far as I'm concerned, Iron Maiden is the best band in history, and Steve Harris is a fucking genius. One day, philharmonic orchestras will be playing Iron Maiden's music, if such is not the case already. Keep up the great work on this channel, and don't ever change dude.
There are several covers of songs like Wasted years done with acoustic instruments and it sound almost better than the original. A great song is not genre dependant, and to me, if you can take a heavy metal song and do it with 1 acoustic guitar and piano and it still comes up great, that means the writing of both the melody and the lyrics was top notch. And in the case of Maiden, pretty much all their songs could make this transition easily.
ive seen metallica, megadeth, slayer, ACDC and Guns and Roses live and by far Maiden has had the best show out of all of them. they are phenomenal live.
Heaven felt that shit!...lo lwhat an honour for Iron Maiden to hear say those poetic words, never heard that saying before but I hope it becomes a classic phrase and you get the credit for it....
Bruce Dickenson is a metal singer, opera singer, history professor, and has an airline pilots license meaning he can fly just about anything from a small twin-engine to a 747 with you and me as his passengers. Check out the plane Maiden tours around in. He is one of the band's pilots too. He is also trained in fencing and speaks a few languages. I'm sure I'm missing a couple things as well. This dude is the definition of "The Shit" and the band he fronts for is one of the best to do it!
@@longshankdrills8799 You may find it funny to know that I'm an individual from the United States. I wish I had a picture of my teenage room. I had Maiden blacklight posters and regular posters everywhere. I fell asleep with Eddy watching over me! Maiden is the only band I have not seen live. I figure that will change someday!
Bruce Dickinson is the singer, he's one of the best in the business. It's not too late to see them live man, they're still playing shows and they're incredible. Check out Fear of the Dark live from the Flight 666 DVD if you want more Maiden. Also, check out In This River live in Paris by Black Label Society, you're going to lose your mind man. Talk about incredible guitar playing.
Hallowed is a perfect song as an introduction to Iron Maiden. You absolutely CAN still go to their concerts. I went to one of their shows last year, and it was phenomenal. They are still kicking ass 30+ years later.
Rock n Role Ribs is right down the street from me in Margate Florida , look up who owns it I think you will be suprised , oh and he also cooks and sometimes waits on people . UP THE IRONS !!!
48 yr old black dude again. I remember getting in trouble for using various pieces of furniture and pots as drums to this and "Run to the Hills".....aaaah good memories lol.
48 yr old black woman here. I used to head bang to iron maiden in my bedroom with my big old afro! Now l just head bang at their gigs! Up the Irons forever!
This song doesn't feel right without his drums. No matter what. I've heard it live 9 or 10 different times in 20 years, it doesn't feel the same as the 82 Hammersmith live (the one on this reaction). Clive's drums are on the fucking spot.
I'd also recommend him checking out "Flash of the Blade", "Where Eagles Dare" and just about anything on the "Number of the Beast" album if he hasn't already.
In rock and metal there are three Exquisite screamers. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and Ronnie James Dio of Dio and Black Sabbath. Absolutely fantastic. Great reaction video.
I don't consider Bruce or Ronnie to be "screamers" though I'd say Rob definitely is. Bruce and Ronnie have very full voices with a lot of range. Love them all but definitely different.
Great reaction to a great band!! The KING can't react to everything that we want, but all be damned if he isn't doing a fantastic job at trying to get to everybody 🤘.... keep it up Bruh!!!
Iron Maiden is still touring. They are coming to the US in 2019 and it's their Legacy tour, going to be all their great songs. Definitely worth trying to go see. I have been listening to them since the 80's and saw them in 2017 with the Book of Souls tour, their latest album, and trust me they still bring it.
Saw them at the Dallas legacy show. Best damn concert I've ever seen, and honestly doubt it'll ever be topped. They absolutely killed it, and the theatrics of the show were like a stage play on top of the concert aspect.
Singers name is Bruce Dickinson !! He fly’s them around on their personal 747 !!! Is an Olympic level fencer !!! Is part owner of the trooper beer !!! And quite literally one of the most interesting men in the world!!!
Hell yes -- it's rare that I like a live version of a track more than the studio cut, and this specific track is probably the best example. So much more epic!
They actually are responsible for creation of a specific genre, with the help of Judas Priest for the most part, called New Wave of British Heavy Metal or NWBHM
I can't believe I am stopping halfway through the reaction to tell you, that you need to listen to Iron Maiden- Rime of the ancient Mariner, but I am so DAMNED excited by your reaction to Iron Maiden, that I REALLY want you to continue with another great song they did. I will warn you though, Rime of the ancient mariner is a musical version of a literary short story classic, that was taught to me in high school back in the mid 90s. So PLEASE listen to Iron Maiden- Rime of the Ancient Mariner after this.
Grew up with Maiden and this is my fav by them. Rime of the Ancient Mariner would be my next suggestion. These aren't just songs, they're performances.
PS. Iron Maiden is the college level band of metal, the songs are often about historical events and great works in literature. No sex drugs and blah blah blah, more often than not it’s serious history and literature. Great battles, historically significant people, “Murders in the Rue Morgue” by Edgar Allen Poe... these guys are brilliant across the board. Lyrics, music, vocals, musicians, entertainers... 🙂
You've easily become my favorite person to watch react to metal. I look forward to your signature moves during every song. HOLD ON, BRUH!! Level this man up!
Oh man dude if you've never heard Iron Maiden before you're in for a treat. Fear of The Dark live is ridiculous, but you can't really go wrong with any of em.
poor guy played the whole concert with broken ribs, They wrapped him up tight at the ER IN LONDON then he went on to play one of the best iron maiden concerts ever recorded!
Preston one day you're going to get a few unexpected visits. I'm sure your popularity has reached a lot of these artist. They're really enjoying your reaction. I promise it's happening. Wish there would be a video of that so we could all say Hold on braaaaaaaaaaa!!!
HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHHHAHAHAHAH I don´t think ANY of the guys in maiden knows what a "reaction video" is... Even more, Im 99.9% sure they don´t even know what a "like" or "dislike" is... Every single time they talk about their music on the internet they all use the word streaming... For everything xDxD "Cause our new album is now for sale, its in every store next week, on the internet on that streaming thing, and all that..." Not even well known guys who are actually in the "internet community", like paul gilbert or guthrie govan, watch these kind of videos... That´s something movie actors and directors do. Yours is one of the most innocent and naive thoughts Ive heard in a long, long time xDxD
the vocalist is Bruce Dickinson....a strong argument can be made to call him the best metal vocalist of all time....He actually sounds better live than on the studio versions......
100% agree. Then Rob Halford shows up to the party. I think if those two were to perform on stage together the universe as we know it would implode into that very stage location.
I just messaged my son and included a link to Run to the Hills, he's like oh yea! I've been listening to Hallowed Be Thy Name over the past couple weeks. I thought to myself, Good boy, good boy lol
I saw Iron Maiden on this tour (World Slavery Tour, Powerslave Album) when I was a long haired, denim jacket wearing teenager. It was unbelievable. I distinctly remember the tolling of the bells in Carolina Coliseum....the build up to the meat of the song, which you seemed to enjoy like the first drop of a giant new roller coaster, was thick in the air as Bruce held that note for 30 seconds. With the blinding flash of strobe lights the 2 guitars wove a tapestry of ability that forces anyone listening, who has a shred of appreciation for that thing that separates the great from the good, blanketed the sea of head bangers. If you would have been there my friend you would have been embraced as a friend. That is the power of great music. It makes those who can recognize it see past our differences, put aside our politics and nurture friendships as opposed to division. I have seen them 8 times over the years. The most recently was last summer in Charlotte. They never disappoint. This song is one of my favorites and just added back to the rotation now that some legal issues have been resolved. Iron Maiden's lineup in this video consists of Bruce Dickenson, the lead singer, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray on guitar, Nicko McBrain on drums and the best bass player ever, Steve Harris. The power and influence of Iron Maiden's music is evident by your reaction. What a joy it is to share the appreciation and love that I have for their art with new people all these years later. I loved watching your face just light up when you first began to watch. I can relate. I felt the exact same way the first time I listened to one of their albums. Music is one of the most powerful agents of peace that we can all embrace and employ to find common ground and in the end a better place for us all.
Johnny White, ben to 5 conserts from 2006-2017. Wish i could be born 15 years earlier. But nonetheless, ben to alot of conserts and festivals with alot of bands. Iron Maiden will be with me till i go to the grave. Funny tho how many of the ppl born in the 50s and 60s saw this music as devils music. Just like Elvis when he started to dance and rocknroll. They were so conservative. Also i tried to tell my father for years and years that iron maiden is not the devil. Listen to their lyrics, thats the barrier btw generations. The music the riffs are brilliant. But how many did actually pay attention to the lyrics back in those days? How many outside the uk knew the lyrics that well back in those days? They made up their mind about Maiden beeing all about 666 the devil and shit. Just talking about what kinda discussions ive had with my own father and ppl of that generation. I get upset by their reactions, but hey, i was born with english subtitles and movies. Noone can argue about the music. But the message are equally important to me. UP THE IRONS
@@philobeddoe8342 Yeah this is at the Hammersmith I believe. Nicko Mcbrain is at World Slavery Tour in 1984. He replaced Clive Burr and started as drummer for Maiden on Piece of Mind Album in 1983 if I'm right. Also Nicko appears as the devil at The Number of the Beast video clip
@@philobeddoe8342 I was JUST thinking that as I read the comment; "I'm pretty sure that's Clive back there, but he wasn't visible much in the video. I was about to rewind to verify but checked replies first as I figured SOMEONE would have pointed it out, if true. Good deal. I've only seen Maiden once, but it was my FIRST heavy metal/rock concert, during the Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour (if I recall the tour name properly). Maiden was the band that took me from being just a bass-lovin' Beastie Boy kinda kid to loving metal etc. Don't get me wrong, still love my Beasties and old school rap (and some newer stuff too) but because of Maiden (and others) all things guitar-oriented became my mainstay musical preference.
Your reaction was the same as mine when I first heard them in 1981.I was awestruck by the intensity and by Bruce Dickenson's vocal range. They are still playing to sold out venues all over Europe and South America.
The states too, I've seen them the last 3 times they've been to florida, against the rails every time, I wouldn't trade those experiences and emotions they evoke for anything in the world
One of the top 5 rock songs ever created. It has everything,..perfect vocals, amazing lyrics, perfect guitaring, great transissions, impeccable drums, amazing tempo....everything a great rock song needs !!!
Glad you are discovering Iron Maiden now, they are massively respected in the Metal community. I would recommend Powerslave, Fear of the Dark, The Clairvoyant, or Dance of Death next. You can always go with live or studio for any of their songs. Both are equally as impressive.
Iron Maiden is the standard for melodic metal songs, and it really isn't even close. For example, this, Fear of the Dark, Paschendale, Infinite Dreams, When the Wild Wind Blows, and many more. You'll like them for sure Edit: had to add in the Clansman, but it's a different singer unless you do a live version, which I recommend
The Singer Bruce Dickinson was a pro Pilot for some Airlines, he was in the pre olympic Team for Fencing and he is one of the best Metal Singers in the World.... He flys the 747 Number of the Beast
“Hallowed Be Thy Name” is my favorite Iron Maiden song. It’s what got me hooked on them in 1982, and remains my favorite song in their extensive and fantastic catalog. It’s the one I tell others to listen to when they haven’t heard Iron Maiden. It’s a great introductory song. They’re still making new music and still touring. They’re coming to the United States later this summer (2019). Maybe (hopefully) I’ll see you at a show!
Thank you for this reaction. I'm a huge fan of Pantera, Sabbath, Lamb of God, all the hard core rockers, but how I missed Iron Maiden, I'll never know. At 51 you've opened up a new door for me to explore and appreciate. I'm psyched, gonna soak up these guys while cooking for Thanksgiving all dam day!
I'm an old and white and full respect for this man right here for coming to my old forgotten culture and seeing it for what it really is. Beautiful, misunderstood and never ending. Love and peace to all. Jason
King, I'll date myself bro, but I saw these guys in 84. All these old metal bands, seen em all. they were great. When Number of the Beast came out, Maiden was at the top of stardom. They got a lot of radio play and packed whatever arena they booked. They were among the best sounding bands live and loud and put on a hell of a show. I blame this period of time on my not hearing as good as I used to haha! After a rock concert you walked around for 3 days convinced you had cotton balls in your ears LOL! Imagine a 40000 seat arena with the entire place in a cloud of weed smoke, the ground vibrating, imagining your shirt was moving from every base kick you felt in your chest while screaming at your buddy beside you and can't hear a word the other one says it's so loud~ And that's the way it was, yea, kind of had to be there. Bruce D. had some pipes, that guy could sing, ultimate rock god vocalist. Also Steve Harris is one of the best bass players of all time. He's on anyone's' top 10 Metal bassist list. I truly got a kick out of watching your reactions. I know what's coming in the song and I imagined that we looked just like you when we pealed the plastic off the album (yes, vinyl antique shit) and laid it on the Pioneer turntable and cranked that amp to max and had our minds blown. I think a lot of what is lost is the magic of those days compared to now. Consider, all we had were album covers, Rock mags, radio and live concerts. We learned about our music at the record stores checking out covers, rags on the mag rack and talking to people who knew anything about who. Our Wikipedia was the DJ's on the radio and everything else we made up and imagined. Then, you finally snagged tickets to see whatever band live! It was the biggest thing going on for the moment, it was a big deal. I think a lot of the magic and mystery is lost in our connected and information rich lifestyle these days. Back then, there was so much we didn't know. That old saying comes to mind "ignorance is bliss" LOLOLO!!!... Rock on man!
Leonardo Willi I totally agree! Almost 50 & highlight of the week as a kid was riding my bike to the record store to check out what was new. First time I heard Metallica Whiplash was at Mellody Music in Brandon, FL. Best times of my life!
Well discribed, well said, that's exactly how it was in all arena heavy Metal shows in the 1980s, 40k stadium down to 15k they are all exactly what you said they were. Amazing times my friend wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, was so lucky to have been born & raised in the time of Heavy Metals not so humble beginnings. I would have hated being a kid in this day and age, security it's Locked down and meet and greets cost a fortune!! I was blessed to have lived it all, for just the price of admission into the arena!! Been there, done that, everyone A to Z, from Areosmith to ZZ top!! And I mean all of them!! If there was a Rock concert in any direction within a 100 mile radius, I was on my way down the road to be there, to experience the rush of excitement & energy that came from being inside all of those concert arenas! It was my main addiction and what a good one it was.
I saw Iron Maiden for the first time in 1984 when they toured for their Number of the Beast album. I remember spending all of my babysitting money on concert tickets that summer. I saw some great shows that year. Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Scorpions etc. Best times ever. At that time, I wanted to be a concert critic. Go to all the concerts & write about how good the shows were.
I heard Maiden for the first time in 82. And you are right. I didnt have a preview when I got my first Sabbath album or Holy Diver or even Judas Priest screaming for vengance. I was just amazed an ROCKED by the sound I was hearing for the first time. 70s 80s metal was the bar. Anything after has struggled to reach that pinnacle.
YES FINALLY! :D So glad you decided to check it out, and I loved your reaction to it :D Kinda looked like me when I was 14 and heard this song for the first time, been a huge Maiden fan since.
Singer is Bruce Dickenson, one of the best for sure. He also is a pilot, he flies the jumbo plane that they use on tour, imagine that, not only being the singer but the pilot flying them city to city. He takes it seriously too, puts on the official pilot uniform and everything. You are in luck, they still perform, they just wrapped up a European tour, should be back in the states in the near future.
I'm 53 years old. I've been to countless concerts since I was in high school. I've seen, not everybody, but practically everybody and almost everybody from the old school hair band generation. There is nothing like being at a live hard Rock concert. I'm sorry you missed it my brother
I'm so jealous you get to hear these songs for the first time! Your enjoyment is infectious and I hope you continue listening to great stuff like maiden and priest!
Love your reactions bro. As a long time metalhead ( over 30 yrs UK ) I've probably seen more bands live than you've listened to so far. it's great to see you sharing and appreciating the best genre from the best time Imo late 80s to mid noughties. Metal sees no colour or religion or culture or Creed, it's a community bro. Carry on band enjoy your journey and keep the faith my friend.
Hey dude! I love your reaction to this video! Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since ever. I discovered them at the age of 15 going at the library for books and just before leaving there was a display with albums available to borrow with the album Fear of the Dark. The cover caught my attention and I was like "WOW, what a great cover!!" I had never seen anything like it before so I decided to take it home. Once at home I did put the CD in my father radio and upon pressing play and hearing the debut of the first song named "Be quick or be dead" I knew I had discovered a group of music that would changed my life forever!! I must have listened that album a few hundred times within the month I was allowed to keep it before bringing it back. Then I asked if there was any more album that could be borrowed through the library and they were able to obtain "No prayer for the dying" on cassette from a different library. Again I was stomp by another amazing album. The best way to discover Iron Maiden in my opinion is by getting 1 album at a time. At first listening to the whole album you will have a favorite song, but then the more you listen to it, another song will become your favorite and then another until the whole album is your favorite and every songs are your favorites or close to, making it very hard to tell which one you really prefer. Once you fully appreciate and truly know the album, then you are ready to discover a new one, which if you're like me will become again your favorite doing the same pattern as I just described. After 22 years of listening to Iron Maiden and having all their albums, I can't hardly tell which one I do prefer the most as they all are magnificent and all have a different story to tell. Funny fact is that my father could appreciate Iron Maiden as he was way more opened to music than my mother even if he was older than her and was usually listening to even older music like Jethro Tull. My mother was always complaining that Bruce Dickinson was just screaming and not singing and that listening to that music would never bring me anywhere. But life proved her wrong. In 2010, i went to see Iron Maiden on "Les Plaines D'abraham" in Quebec, for like the 6th time back then. In the marshpit i bumped into a girl and we grabbed each other by the shoulder in the frenzy of the event and said to each other "Let's walk to the front row at the gate together!" From there we watch the whole concert together. The only time we spoken is when she asked me from where I was from, to which I reply "from far away" (I had driven 3 hours from New-Brunswick to Quebec). After the concert I walked her to the entrance from there we exchanged our facebook to find a few days after that we had almost 10yrs of age difference, she was 19 and I was 28, but we still decided to neglect that fact and decided to meet up in Quebec again one week later for the Rammstein concert. that night we kissed for the first time and made it official. 2 years later we got engaged after an Iron Maiden concert. And 9 years later we are still together. We now own 5 houses together that we rent apartments for a total of 11 doors. But more importantly we now have 2 sons! The oldest is named: Maiden and we named the second William, but his middle name is Eddie (Iron Maiden mascott's name) So think again just how much I was right to believe that discovering Iron Maiden back then would be so important in my life and would change the course of it, if it wasn't from that I wouldn't know my wife and have 2 sons named likewise! Iron Maiden will be forever my favorite band. And they are still touring and still just as good as ever been! We're going to see them in august are will be bringing our 2 sons. My son Maiden will be seeing them for his second time! Last tour they did we brought him and he was 9 months old and had a great time! Of course we preventively install earplugs in his ears and earmuffs on top of it. My wife and I pretested them at a Megadeth concert to see how much sound attenuation there was and though it was alright. The kid even if that young truly enjoyed the show as it is one of the greatest band to see in concert. I would recommend to you or anyone that never seen Iron Maiden to go see them in concert, you just can't go wrong if you like music! Continue your great work, your channel is awesome and you are bound to discover a lot of great music! Cheers!
I've just stumbled onto your channel and I'm really enjoying seeing your reaction to songs I've loved since my childhood. I started following Maiden when I was still at school 37 odd years ago and for me they are one of if not the quintessential English metal band. They're still doing it now and if anything have gotten even better with a bigger lineup. Having listen to them and other bands such as Pink Floyd for so long, your reactions are reminding me just how damn good this music is so many thanks for that!
This version, this time, i mean. This one of the greatest masterpieces made ever in music history. UP THE IRONS. ben to Maidens consert 5 times. One of the best live bands ever.!
I first saw Iron Maiden in concert in 1988, I still get chills when I hear their songs, especially the live versions as it takes me right back to that night in The Edinburgh Playhouse. It was the Seventh Son tour.
Born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, Dickinson began his career in music fronting small pub bands in the 1970s while attending school in Sheffield and university in London. In 1979, he joined the new wave of British heavy metal band Samson, with whom he gained some popularity under the stage name "Bruce Bruce" and performed on two studio records. He left Samson in 1981 to join Iron Maiden, replacing Paul Di'Anno, and debuted on their 1982 album The Number of the Beast. During his first tenure in the band, they issued a series of US and UK platinum and gold albums in the 1980s. Dickinson quit Iron Maiden in 1993 (being replaced by Blaze Bayley) to pursue his solo career, which saw him experiment with a wide variety of heavy metal and rock styles. He rejoined the band in 1999, along with guitarist Adrian Smith, with whom he has released five subsequent studio albums. Since his return to Iron Maiden, he issued one further solo record in 2005, Tyranny of Souls. His younger cousin, Rob Dickinson, is the former lead singer of British alternative rock band Catherine Wheel, while his son, Austin, fronted the metalcore band Rise to Remain. Outside his career in music, Dickinson is well known for his wide variety of other pursuits. Most notably, he undertook a career as a commercial pilot for Astraeus Airlines, which led to a number of media-reported ventures such as captaining Iron Maiden's converted charter aeroplane, Ed Force One, during their world tours. Following Astraeus' closure, he created his own aircraft maintenance and pilot training company in 2012, Cardiff Aviation. Dickinson presented his own radio show on BBC Radio 6 Music from 2002-2010, and has also hosted television documentaries, authored novels and film scripts, created a successful beer with Robinsons Brewery and competed at fencing internationally. Early life
God damn that dude can blow. All Iron Maiden fans feel like you. They wanna be there for the experience. Some of the most loyal fans in the industry. There aren't any musical entertainers like this anymore.
It doesn't matter if it's your first time or your millionth time listening to this song, it will forever give you goosebumps. Loved your reaction. Up the Maidens
Isn't it funny how music no matter what kind you're into does that certain thing to you where it's like holyshit and you get goosebumps? There's something to that that connects us I'm sure of it!
awesome reaction my friend!!! this is an AMAZING band !!! they are what musicianship is all about... great song you should also react to "wasted Years" , "revelations", "2 minutes to midnight" , "the rhyme of the ancient mariner", "somewhere in time", "fear of the dark" , etc all great songs. \ another band u should try out is DEATH an amazing band with out of this world talent try "The flesh and the power it holds" , "symbolic" , "suicide machine" , "lack of comprehension" , "spirit crusher" , "in human form" , "overactive imagination"... all fgreat songs and they also have this instrumental "Voice of the soul " thaty will leave you speachless.
Dude I love seeing your reactions. I grew up with all these bands you react to, listening to them and watching them live and I always loved them but watching you react makes me think I took it all for granted and actually reconnects me even more to these songs again. Class
Great reactions like this one earn so much of my respect. You took it beyond the typical shallow listening I see all too much, and felt it, absorbed it and most importantly, APPRECIATED it. Iron maiden (and metal in general) for me is so much more than music. Its an emotion!! Subscribed 🤘
Don't worry, you're not alone, I don't think many people can listen to Hallowed Be Thy Name and not get goosebumps! Strangely Maiden seemed quite subdued in this live performance, the music was perfect as always but they're usually running around all over the stage, I saw them a few months ago and Bruce (the singer) never stopped and they're in their late 50's now! Some other classics to try would be Fear of the Dark (live Death on the Road ua-cam.com/video/dyR5SVN-46o/v-deo.html the crowd in this are amazing to hear) and Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Then go back and do Blackbird by Alter Bridge please!
I dunno how I stumbled on this video, but....I hung out the entire time time the video was playing, and it reminded me of the time my older brother introduced me to Iron Maiden. We used to hang out a lot and just listen to music, and this brought that all back to me. Thanks man, much love.
King I have to say this was my first time watching a reaction by you I find it awesome to see such a genuine appreciation for metal. Iron Maiden is my all time favorite metal band & they are the greatest band alive today. This is my favorite song by them & it's the greatest metal song ever & watching your reaction gave me a greater appreciation of it. Keep stepping outside of your zone my friend & appreciate the beauty of everything Iron Maiden and beyond.
Preston, whats up man... Welcome to the wonderful world of Iron Maiden, if at all possible, I would Highly, highly recommend listenin to the WHOLE, "Number of the Beast" Album, in one sitting, for a review, it will be worth it man, and believe me, you will be a changed man, and Upping the Irons after it... If you want a live album, try "Live after death" from 1985, for a first live album from them, specifically "Phantom of the Opera & Wrath child" from that album, before moving on to their other live shows from the 2000s'... And as always man... Up the Irons... \m/
Bruce Dickinson is the singer. If you want to experience them live you'll have a chance next year (I think), the dates haven't been announced yet.. They're all 60+ now, but the energy is still the same, even if the voice isn't quite what it used to be, (though still amazing for a 60 year old who just had throat cancer). Speaking of Bruce, nobody ever does his solo material, which is better than what Iron Maiden was doing when he was out of the band in the 90's. Try "Darkside of Aquarius", or "Book of Thel".
Bro! I have been waiting months for you to react to Maiden.Thank you! Unfortunately you listened to the wrong version of this song. You have to listen to the studio version for the clean ambient version of this song. That will really give you goosebumps.Songs by Maiden that you need to react to are Rime of the ancient mariner,Children of the damned,Dance of death and Empire of the clouds
I agree bro, the studio version is perfection. I never really got to hear the song during my first 18 years of listening to metal, which seems very odd now, but hey, I guess you miss a great song here and there. Anyway, it gave me legit goosebumps and the song was in my head for weeks afterward. It's that great of a song.
yearginclarke thanks for sharing that bro! I’ve been a Maiden fan for 40 years and I love hearing the effects Maiden have on people.I first heard this song when it came out and aside from War Pigs it was the first song to not only give me goosebumps but I felt like I literally left my realm and was the man Bruce is singing about here.Man I hope he reacts to more Maiden. It’s definitely what he likes in music. He just don’t know it yet..lol. Up the Irons!
No problem man, I like hearing how people react to great songs too...I would have loved to have heard this when it was brand new, but I was born in 1985, and my first time checking Maiden out was in 2000 listening to the Piece of Mind album on cassette. There are SO many great Maiden songs to choose from. I would like him to react to The Ides of March/Wrathchild. But those songs are probably mostly for us more hardcore fans.
You also mentioned War Pigs, and I also would like to mention that one of the first early/vintage metal songs I heard was War Pigs, back in 2000. I first bought the old best of album "We Sold Our Souls For Rock n Roll", and the song was on it. The self titled Black Sabbath song was also on it, and that blew my mind, I wasn't expecting something that old to be THAT heavy. Still one of my all time favorite songs/riffs. The live version of War Pigs in Paris ,1970 is fucking awesome also, Bill Ward's drumming is off the hook. I remember buying a DVD back in 2007 that showed NIB and War Pigs from that Paris concert, and after watching it, Bill Ward became one of my favorite drummers instantly.
I wouldn't argue with any maiden fan and I'm not now really lol :-) but if your going to listen to Hallowed I would recommend this to version to any first time listener. :-) but by all means check out the album version too...in fact buy the album and be blown away :-) lol
They came to Sydney in 2016, and it was beyond incredible. It was like watching theatre, it was beautiful. This is my favourite song by them, and boy did i cry when they played it... I'm glad you liked it too :D
It's September 2021 and right now Iron Maiden's new album "Senjutsu" is fighting for the top spot on the charts. Crazy! I am 51 years old and looking back over my life Maiden is one of the few things that stayed true. Friends, women, bands, all changed, sold out, and even betrayed, but never Maiden.
Hey man love the videos! I rarely subscribe to anything on UA-cam but you got yourself a new subscriber. I love the fact that you appreciate Iron Maiden as much as you seem to do, and you really need to react to Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera (LIVE at Ullevi). Phantom of the Opera was the song that made the lead singer Bruce Dickinson join Iron Maiden, cause he loved the song so much. Peace and greetings from Sweden!
Great Reaction videos! I've watched about 10 since I discovered your channel yesterday. Watching you react to many of my favorite tunes brings me back to spinning these LPs with friends when I was 15. Awesome to see someone's mind getting blown 35 years later. Cheers from Canada!
The singer's name is Bruce Dickinson. The only other singer that could ever hold a candle to this man was the late great Ronnie James Dio, though now deceased (may 2010), his work still lives in us today. Iron maiden however is still performing 40+ years later. In fact, I just seen them here on there best of the beast tour. You owe it to yourself to catch one of their shows before you leave this planet bro. Dickinson is not only a singer m he is also an actor, writer, professional fenceman and an airplane pilot. He released a book called....what does this button do. In it he explains his entire career to include his recent battle with tongue cancer. This man is the real deal. You HAVE TO SEE THEM. Thanks and God bless.
Shannon Young Well said Shannon! I liked Dio ( in fact think he did the best Sabbath albums ) but he is nowhere close to Bruce and HALFORD!! A close 3rd would have to be Geoff Tate if Queensryche had made a few more METAL albums and not sold out to radio music. I also think Freddie Mercury was great live! Only saw him once...1979...but it was before THEY started make overplayed radio gaga type songs!
Priceless reaction bro 👊🏼💯 My first time seeing them live, 1983 World Piece Tour, Steve, Bruce, Adrian, Dave and Nicko (not the original line up. Add Janick current line up) are arguably the best live metal performance band ever! Saw the next four tours and was never disappointed 👍🏼 My brother just saw them a few months ago and said they still got it, after almost 45 years man 🤪🤯😳
I grew up on maiden. My favorite band. The energy the passion. Bruce has total control of his vocals. Brother i absolutely love watching discover a band from my childhood with such joy and happiness in your heart. Thank you. Your newest subscriber
Had the pleasure to see them at their prime. Saw them in the 80's, 90's and just a couple years ago. My favorite band without a doubt. I'm glad you like them. Metalhead since the 80's \m/ \m/
+Arnold Greenberg
Hi Arnold. Look at this: ua-cam.com/video/fa5cIhscNlk/v-deo.html

yep and tickets for the USA are on sale now, i'm going next august
ive seen metallica, megadeth, slayer, ACDC and Guns and Roses live and by far Maiden has had the best show out of all of them. they are phenomenal live.
Yep, im going to rock in rio in october to see them for the first time!! Im so fucking excited for it.
Yes, saw them June 2017...I LOVE Bruce dickisnon...
I went to see maiden 3 year ago and they played this song... I can die peaceful
There will never be another Iron Maiden.

Oohh but Judas Priest though. 🤔

That's awesome to know, thanks.

He's not an opera singer.
Tyler yeah that live version with the whole audience singing is ultra :)
Rumor is the same show they are doing this summer in Europe is coming to North America next spring
That whole documentary is incredible. Seeing Bruce at the helm of a 747 with Eddie painted on the side is kick ass.
Lol just said the same thing! Haha
Iron maiden rime of the ancient mariner.
Hallowed is a perfect song as an introduction to Iron Maiden. You absolutely CAN still go to their concerts. I went to one of their shows last year, and it was phenomenal. They are still kicking ass 30+ years later.
Yeah their shows are still amazing. I've seen Irom Maiden 4 times, last time was just a year ago. and they're still incredible live!

Clive Burr on Drums RIP
This song doesn't feel right without his drums. No matter what. I've heard it live 9 or 10 different times in 20 years, it doesn't feel the same as the 82 Hammersmith live (the one on this reaction). Clive's drums are on the fucking spot.
I've always found Clive Burr to be the better drummer. Just raw emotion.
@Ragnar in Rock in Rio 2001, for me, is the only time he play incredible this song
The trooper and run for the hills are awesome.
Indeed they are.
Yes, The Trooper is a badass one. And on another note Diamonds and Rust by Judas Priest is a nice one too
dance of death is my favorite
Never got that run to the hills hysteria. I mean I like the song but I wouldn't put it in the top 10 Iron Maiden songs
And don't forget Dio started in Rainbow.
Wait...dont forget Blackie Lawless.
+Kelly Regalis love Blackie's vocals
I don't consider Bruce or Ronnie to be "screamers" though I'd say Rob definitely is. Bruce and Ronnie have very full voices with a lot of range. Love them all but definitely different.
I'm not a fan of screamers myself but surly Ian Gillian must be in the top three. If you doubt me have a quick listen to child in time.
Great reaction to a great band!! The KING can't react to everything that we want, but all be damned if he isn't doing a fantastic job at trying to get to everybody 🤘.... keep it up Bruh!!!

Very true
Iron Maiden is still touring. They are coming to the US in 2019 and it's their Legacy tour, going to be all their great songs. Definitely worth trying to go see. I have been listening to them since the 80's and saw them in 2017 with the Book of Souls tour, their latest album, and trust me they still bring it.
Jason Evans I got my ticket to the legacy tour, how you did too. Can’t wait, I get too see them in a few weeks!
Saw them at the Dallas legacy show. Best damn concert I've ever seen, and honestly doubt it'll ever be topped. They absolutely killed it, and the theatrics of the show were like a stage play on top of the concert aspect.
Yup I already got tickets for 10-20-22 Greensboro, NC. Already counting down the days!🤘
Singers name is Bruce Dickinson !! He fly’s them around on their personal 747 !!! Is an Olympic level fencer !!! Is part owner of the trooper beer !!! And quite literally one of the most interesting men in the world!!!
Bruce Dickinson is the singer's name. Fear of the Dark live from Rock in Rio should be the next Maiden reaction🤘 another fire reaction bro🔥💯
I second this
KTF, listen to this man. He is very wise.
Hell yes -- it's rare that I like a live version of a track more than the studio cut, and this specific track is probably the best example. So much more epic!
Yes! Definitely react to Fear of the Dark live! Either from Live in Rio or Flight 666! Both are equally epic!
I prefer Fear Of The Dark-Live At Donnington 22.8.1992
Maiden are the melodic metal standard bearers. You chose wisely, sir! This song is a burner!
Rime of the Ancient Mariner or The Trooper next!!!
Powerslave or Rime Of The Ancient Mariner from Live After Death
The whole Powerslave album is fantastic.
Grew up with Maiden and this is my fav by them. Rime of the Ancient Mariner would be my next suggestion. These aren't just songs, they're performances.
Children of the Dammned. Wtf you people share the same brain?
one of the legendary metal bands in history.
they are sucessful still to this day.and they deserved every bit of it.
Next Iron Maiden should be Fear of the Dark👍,,,,or Alexander the Great.

And you know for fact that artists dont "watch these kind of videos" ? or just your opinion ?
the vocalist is Bruce Dickinson....a strong argument can be made to call him the best metal vocalist of all time....He actually sounds better live than on the studio versions......
100% agree. Then Rob Halford shows up to the party. I think if those two were to perform on stage together the universe as we know it would implode into that very stage location.

Up the irons
Johnny, you didn't see this tour. That's Clive Burr playing the drums......this is 1982 the The World Slavery Tour was 1984+
@@philobeddoe8342 Yeah this is at the Hammersmith I believe.
ME TOO! I've LOVED maiden SINCE 1982! i WAS IN THE 11TH GRADE LOL
The states too, I've seen them the last 3 times they've been to florida, against the rails every time, I wouldn't trade those experiences and emotions they evoke for anything in the world
In '81 I was struck by the intensity of that Steve Harris bass, and made it and Getty Lee's of Rush playing my targets in my own.
Also sold out arenas all over THE U.S.A.
They are inspiracion for Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer... And more

Iron Maiden is the standard for melodic metal songs, and it really isn't even close. For example, this, Fear of the Dark, Paschendale, Infinite Dreams, When the Wild Wind Blows, and many more. You'll like them for sure

I couldn't off said that better long live rock music
I heard Maiden for the first time in 82. And you are right. I didnt have a preview when I got my first Sabbath album or Holy Diver or even Judas Priest screaming for vengance. I was just amazed an ROCKED by the sound I was hearing for the first time.

The lead singer in this video is a commercial airplane pilot, cancer survivor and father. He also is a successful solo vocal metal artist.
Also has been rank 7 in Great British in fencing. He's all over the place :)
He also flies for Lufthansa I think in his spare time.
Bruce is so bas ass he beat cancer and continues to tour
They don't use the touring plane anymore.

Love this. Great reaction. If you don’t like this, you don’t have a pulse
In the marshpit i bumped into a girl and we grabbed each other by the shoulder in the frenzy of the event and said to each other "Let's walk to the front row at the gate together!"
From there we watch the whole concert together.
The oldest is named: Maiden and we named the second William, but his middle name is Eddie (Iron Maiden mascott's name)
So think again just how much I was right to believe that discovering Iron Maiden back then would be so important in my life and would change the course of it, if it wasn't from that I wouldn't know my wife and have 2 sons named likewise!
I have been listening this song from my teenage, I am 43 now, and it still makes my hairs stand on.
You definitely have time to go to a Maiden concert. Don't miss out, dude.

Dio- Dickinson - Halford all have 4-5 octive range!🔥🔥🔥
Up The Irons!

Flight 666! Iron Maiden! 🔥🔥🔥 They toured around the world! In a 727 plane flown by Bruce Dickinson the singer ✈️
747
Flight 666 was an earlier tour some years ago. As mentioned above, it's now Ed Force One. And I believe that the earlier flight 666 was a 737.
You’re right , Heaven felt that shit bro 🙌🏻🙌🏻Always a Maiden fan .Damnn
awesome reaction my friend!!!
this is an AMAZING band !!! they are what musicianship is all about... great song
you should also react to "wasted Years" , "revelations", "2 minutes to midnight" , "the rhyme of the ancient mariner", "somewhere in time", "fear of the dark" , etc all great songs.
\
another band u should try out is DEATH an amazing band with out of this world talent
try "The flesh and the power it holds" , "symbolic" , "suicide machine" , "lack of comprehension" , "spirit crusher" , "in human form" , "overactive imagination"... all fgreat songs and they also have this instrumental "Voice of the soul " thaty will leave you speachless.
P.S. Queensrhyche is another band to check out.
"Queen of the Reich"
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death
Are you high?
He'll definitely lose it if he hears that
I dunno how I stumbled on this video, but....I hung out the entire time time the video was playing, and it reminded me of the time my older brother introduced me to Iron Maiden.
Just get all his solo album's, he's my hero
JayTor2112 Dude I want to kick you in the skull for that avatar.
That was a first for me too.
Awesome music.
I adore you reactions to metal, you have such joy!😉
Behold, the power of Metal.
And that ladies and gentlemen is the greatest metal song ever.
Rob Halford is every bit the musical equal to Bruce, if not better. However both are truly the best of the genre.
When you know that your time is close at hand, maybe then you'll begin to understand, life down there is just a strange illusion
