KTF, if nobody has told you, Iron Maiden is touring in the US this year. You need to go brother, they are amazing in concert. The playlist features many of the songs you've said were your favorites. Make it happen!
My first concert was Iron Maiden in 1999 when I was 5 years old. That concert changed my life and I fell in love with metal and Maiden forever. Thank you KTF for letting me relive seeing someone with the same enthusiasm for them as I have all these years, and actually trying to understand their lyrics.
FLIGHT OF ICARUS! Yo pres, it's a mythological story of a father and son escaping imprisonment. The father was an inventor and he put together wings so him and his son can fly away but the father warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun or it will melt the bees wax on the wings and he didn't listen. Great song!!!!
I’m glad you finally got to this one. Iron Maiden has so many songs that are extremely deep. Seldom do they just write BS lyrics. Being 50+ now, and listening to them since the early 80’s, this song definitely holds true. It definitely stands the test of time.

When this song came out I was on tour with a band. And I realized I had no one back home. I then realized I had family in my band and road crew and songs like this. Almost 30 years later..... This song means so much to me. Thanks KTF
This song was written to show how life on the road really was for the guys, especially with all their loved ones so far away. This was when the boys started growing up.
Thanks for the respect, I grew up on that stuff, now nearly 50 and still going to concerts, this is my treasure!
