Iron Maiden's bassist, Steve Harris, is a monster. He's the main reason a lot of maiden songs have that galloping sound.
Yeee
That would be "Thundering" Steve Harris, King of triples. 😀
Don't forget that signature slap bass with Gallop
Plus Steve is the Main writer for the band.
Such a legend, trooper is still one of my all time favorite bass lines!
Same album, do "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"
a true classic
This man speaks the truth.
That song is a MUST! Greatest song ever written
Live! Flight 666 live version pleaseeee
The best of iron Maiden
“It’s like the song is crying “ Perfect comment. That is one of the best Dave Murray’s solo ever.
Power of stratocaster. Dave is an underrated legend.
All Dave’s solos are amazing.
Powerslave is my favorite album, and 'Powerslave' and 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' are the reasons why.
And Aces High! 2 minutes to minutes!
Yes! Lately he has been reacting songs from this album. My favorite too!
Somewhere in Time and Piece of Mind is where it's at.
It's a perfect album
I really like 'Flash of the Blade', 'The Duelists' and 'Back in the Villiage' too!
Great song. As always Maiden tells a tale - a story based in historical context. This one is about an Egyptian pharaoh who dies and is mummified. Song takes the listener along a tortured existence and death and onto the afterlife. Maiden are masterful storytellers as well as some of the most talented musicians ever to walk the globe. Super album is Powerslave. Definitely listen to Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. You can pick out the great musicianship from the lead guitars harmonizing, to the gallop rhythm of the bass guitar to the thumping drum fills from Nicko and punctuated by the air raid siren vocals of Dickenson. Maiden are unstoppable!
This is why I am a big fan of the Maiden guitarists, and especially Smith. Those guys understand the art of telling a story when they play a solo. Their phrasing is ON POINT.
I think it's more along the lines of a pharaoh, on his deathbed, realizes he is indeed mortal and will die. Even as he's been told that he's a living god and has the power of life and death, he's still a prisoner to death like a commoner.
Once he dies, he's forced to haunt a stone statue of himself, impotent and unable to interact with life. He's bitter and angry at the lie he was told when he ascended the throne.
Yeah, brother your dead right on that. The first album I became obsessed with was 'Live After Death' what do think of that?
Stargazer by rainbow man, MOST EPIC SONG EVER MADE
Dio in general ! can't wait for the first time he'll hear his voice !
@@thomass3773 As good as every other band is, Dio's voice is just 11/10
@@thomass3773 muda muda muda
Iron Maiden's best song is "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" imo, the next song on this album. It has incredible lyrics too.
The live Flight 666 version though
Studio version is the best.
@@darkscorpion-donzaloog Absolutely not. Maiden is one of those bands where the live performances are pretty much always better for many reasons.
Imo
Hallowed be thy name them ROTAM

ONE OF MY FAVS!!!!!!!.From Iron Maiden.MY FAVORITE BAND EVER !!!!!
\..I'm an electrician, in Chicago...my company is POWERSLAVE ELECTRIC!!!!!
Could also be called Freezing My Ass Off Electric last week. ;-) Cool name, bro! Nice town to visit during the summer.
I grew up on these 3 iron maiden albums. Number of the beast, piece of mind, and powerslave. Each album from beging to end is a masterpiece. Piece of mind has always been my personal favorite. Still thinking about getting that eddie album cover for a tattoo. And yes rime of the ancient mariner is a must. Plus anything from piece of mind. Revelations, flight of icarus, to tame a land, and still life
Damn you got so close to Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It's the next song on the album
Devil Sephiroth I love Rime, it’s definitely in their top 10 Greatest Hits
Fuck yeah! 🔥🔥🔥
Devil Sephiroth The solo in Rime is like an orgasm.
@@Chris_Clark1MaidenFan -- dude, Rime IS their signature song. There are no peers to equate on that level.
Dude, that's funny.
06:26 I absolutely love the backing guitar starting right there!
Edit: and the bass too, of course!
Ok Preston my man! You're now ready for the other masterpiece on this album; Rime of the Ancient Mariner! Go live this time. And don't forget, they'll be at Tinley Park in August. Don't miss it bro!
Sign of the Cross from Rock in Rio is amazing.
Preston is from chicago.... Nice. I'll be at the Tinley concert too..🤘🤘🤘
I'll be at Tinley Park, too!
I'll be at the Tinley venue for their concert in August also!!😁😆👍
I'm going to the Portland Oregon show.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REACT TO RHIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER WITH LYRICS DISCUSSION.

Wasted Years - Iron Maiden would be your new favorite trust me.
Yes! Excellent song.
It really would, too. It definitely checks all Preston's boxes.
Yep, one of their best ever
Such an incredible song! Always helps me through any shitty times!
With Iron Madiens standards I would rate it above average, but it kills 99,9% of all other song ever made.
Preston my man one more iron Maiden
Alexander the great
Its pure hystory in a perfect music

Steve Harris had the mind, Bruce Dickinson the voice, Adrian Smith the timing, Nico Mc Brain the joy and Dave Murray the feeling. What a lineup.
RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! YOU'RE KILLING ME!!!!
Iron Maiden - The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Very motivational song
That is probably my favorite song from them. The solo still brings tears to my eyes. No joke.
I think he's ready
I blasted into my backyard decades ago to the ire of all within earshot !!!!! Those unsuspecting gave me a wide berth afterwards. I loved the shock and awe of all of Maidens epic cuts !!!!! British Metal is unflinching and not for the squimish !!!!! Maiden LIVE is a SPECTACLE !!!!!!!
Steve Harris: my all time favorite bass player.. simply the best
"Alexander the great " and "The Rhyme of the ancient mariner" are masterpieces along with the entire Seventh son album
Along with Powerslave and Somewhere in Time albums
@@maxotto9877 not in this case
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, written in 1797-98 and published in 1798 in the first edition of Lyrical Ballads. Some modern editions use a revised version printed in 1817 that featured a gloss
@@somefukndorkbadassasskicki7501 Yeah it is 'Rime'
@@ryan-uf9er ha I guess im old
In the context of poetry, rime was historically correct, but has fallen out of favor in modern times. You should choose rhyme instead, except in specified historical contexts. Since rime is spelled with and I and used infrequently, you can remember to choose rhyme instead.
You were right i just like to argue trivial things
After 9 months of watching reactions...you are top dude. Very honest, smart, open and fun. Difficult for me to explain, but you rock and teach me about rap stuff. I'm metal head, and love you're ability to appreciate metal. Thanks brother!
Loved playing bass to this back in the day Steve was my idol.
I may be old, but I've seen Iron Maiden six times. The first time was in 1981 when they opened for Judas Priest. It was a great time to be a teenager, bro! I have tickets to see them again in September in San Antonio.
There is a great instrumental on the Powerslave album. It's called, "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)". No need to do a reaction, but seriously... listen and enjoy!
I love the version of that from Live after death! It wasn’t part of the official release but was on one of the singles
I heard you're from Chicago. Iron Maiden will be in Tinley Park this August. I hope you can make it to their show, it's definitely worth it.
You've got to love those reactions by the King man! Awsome! Keep on rockin.
Greeting from a metalhead in Sweden. :)
Stumbled across this in my feed and I’m glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reactions and hearing your thoughts. I have loved this album and this song from the day it was released, but you’ve given me the blessing of enjoying it on another level. Thanks!
The Live after Death version is so much heavier. If he does Rime, I hope Preston chooses the live version from this disk.
Infinite dreams
This dude gets it.He understands what great musicianship is and he recognized the feeling of the guitar solo. i always loved that solo.He reminds of me when i was a kid discovering this music that enthralled me. I was at long beach arena the Friday night they filmed Live After Death with my Eddie shirt with the queen Mary and Vincent Thomas bridge on it. I left that concert a changed kid. It was like seeing magic and feeling the power of the music resonating with the core of my being. The kids at school were going on a special trip to magic mountain after school but i was going to Maiden that night and i felt sorry for them. There was no place in the world that id rather be at that night. I cant believe where the time went. Almost 35 years to the month now. I thought id always be 14 but at least i have these memories to look back on.
Holy shit, that was cool to watch. I love seeing people react to the music I've been listening to for 20 years, for the first time. It's like watching myself reacting for the first time LOL!
I recommend "Alexander Great" Iron Maiden.
Absolutely..... What a tune!
I definitely agree!
i agree, Rivetheads...the buildup of this classic is epic...have they ever performed it live,
You forgot the THE :P
Hell yeah love Maiden 🤘🏻
I very recently discovered these reaction type videos by absolute chance and find them damn near addictive. But out of all the different people’s ones I’ve watched I find yours to be the best and most entertaining.
ha ha amazing man ,i had this cd in my car going full noise on the way home from work, sit down had 2 beers ,put youtube on,and now im here, love maiden,im 53 years old, been lovin maiden songs since i was 14 ,maiden forever.iv'e seen them live, sure is awsome.
Dude you gotta do Seventh Son of a Seventh Son or Caught Somewhere in Time. Get your tickets now before they’re all gone!
You have got to check out the Flight 666 version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner! One of Iron Maiden's best!!
My favorite band for 30 years, I loved watching you listen! What a great video! Awesome. man. Going to see them in Philly this summer, tell me when to pick you up! Ha ha.
Going to see them in a few months. Nice to see you rocking out brotha!
This album is a masterpiece this along seventh son of a seventh son are two of the most complete albums when it comes to lyrics, music production etc I love maiden and their older albums are also great but these two albums specially powerslave hold a special place in my hear I’m seeing maiden in August I’ve seen them before they are a must
I grew up with Number Of Thr Beast, im biased towards that album. Hallowed Be Thy Name is a classic!
Piece Of Mind and the self-titled debut are the most consistent all around albums for me.
My favorite album, though non-studio, is Live After Death.
Bruh all of their albums are master peices

That song contains a display of virtuosity by Dickinson.
I have 3 favorite reaction channels and you are one fo sho ….. keep it up brruuuuuuhhh
Been watching your vids for a while. Seen others biting your style but have no appreciation/substance to comment. You're mature and open enough to know when quality deserves a thumbs up
Kyuss - El Rodeo
You need to try some STONER METAL
Metallica- Hit The Lights , Fight Fire With Fire, The Thing That Should Not Be, and Creeping Death
Got a new sub for this. And that was before I noticed you paid attention to the comments and did rime. Good stuff dude \m/
It's about time! I've been waiting for you to do this one forever!
Maiden rules!!!! Check out Queensryche's "Operation Mind Crime" album. The whole album is excellent!!
2 years ago for you, but I also have that special place for and grew up with Mindcrime. My uncle brought me to and from football practice one year and always had this cassette in his car. By the end of the summer I knew every word of the entire album. To this day, Eyes of A Stranger puts me into an extraordinary state of mind that I just love.
Oh yeah....the rhyme of the ancient mariner....another maiden song.
Happily surprised to see that your comments are always on point man... This song is a masterpiece but maan this solo! If i may suggest one song for your next reaction video this should be infinite dreams!ride on cheers and respect from greece
I remember clearly the day they played this song live here in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) when I was 18... chills, literally chills

There's a reason they call Bruce Dickinson a human air raid siren.
His voice is perfect for The Irons, and so strong.
UP THE IRONS!!
Woo! This is one of my favorite Maiden songs!
That section in the middle where it goes bass lead/guitar lead/bass lead/guitar lead is always a joy to listen to
You should react to Moonchild, youll totally freak out with this one xd
Must agree with the majority of the comments, Rime of the Ancient Mariner live! You will be happy you did!
I agree!
September 21st Dallas at the Dos Equis Pavilion I'm trying my damndest to get there bruh!!
Keep the videos coming. You're doing a great job man!
I am 48 years old and finally starting to open my eyes to the emotions that come through from the music in songs that accompany lyrics... It is still hit and miss with me though, haha!! Watching your reaction and your thinking behind what you observed brought it out to me in a song I have been listening to for 33 years!!! After you mentioned how you were seeing it/hearing it, I really payed attention to the emotion that came across in the series of ups and downs throughout the guitar/bass solo's and I am seeing this song on a new level!!!! It seemed to me as if it went from the sad emotion that you mentioned (that got me thinking) and then went on to like a "angry/rebellious feel" and then some more deep emotion and back to like a "Eff you death"!! kind of thing by the end of the solo(s)...
Thanks for sharing your reaction, man!!!
Everyone else is saying it, so I might as well join: RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER!!!!
Next do "Caught somewhere in time"
Great review and commentary. I enjoyed it and your reactions/review. Been a Maiden fan since 1982 myself. Good job!
I wish I found this channel earlier. I had an extra floor ticket to their Brooklyn show last month that I couldn’t even give away. I was 4th row center stage. That looks like a picture of the Williamsburg Bridge that you have hanging up so maybe you were local. I would have given you the ticket so you could experience them live. I’ve seen them 13 times on 10 tours over the last 20 years and this was the best one yet.
Peter Frampton Do you feel like we do from Frampton comes alive
Dammit, I'mma keep asking for a reaction to Flash Of The Blade until I get one! I'll hold my breath until I pass out! I'll feed veggie burgers to homeless people! I'll take up two parking spots every time I go shopping! Don't make me go there, man, do the reaction! It's on this same album and everything. Also, if it matters, literally NOBODY on youtube has done a reaction to that song yet. You'd be first.
Ill see your Flash of the Blade and raise you a Caught Somewhere in Time.
There is someone if you're interested, it's a guy who did a full album reaction. Don't remember his name though, James something I think. Personally, I think the songs that destroys everything else in the album is The Duellists. And it's fairly unknown too. Even though Powerslave is a very famous album, most people only know the "big hits". Aces High, 2 Minutes, Powerslave and Rime. Which is a shame since I think it's Maiden's most consistent album but half of the songs get overlooked.
Yup! Saw this concert in Philadelphia PA in the 1980's.. our seats were taken by the soundboard. Got moved up to the 10th row, one of those memorable moments!!! Great Song !! Thx for the Reaction....
Gonna see Maiden in Portland on September 6th--first time for me too. 2nd row, front balcony, directly facing them.
Iron maiden : seventh son of a seventh son, children of the damned, afraid to shoot strangers, bring your daughter to the slaughter, run silent run deep, sea of madness, rime of the ancient mariner and many more 😉
