Watched this video last week . I work at a body shop and am new to the paint side .I really locked in once I seen you using the same paint gun I have. I have had no streaks or blotchy jobs all week after following your steps. Thanks man
Awesome video Brian!! I'm an occasional car painter who used to dread painting and blending silver metallics, but not anymore!!! I'm now looking forward to my next silver paint job. Thanks a million for making this video!!!
Brian this may be one of your best videos. I know it's old, but it's SUPER helpful when you talk through your technique and break it out with subtitles for key concepts. really makes a difference. i don't really care about the noise reduction, but this approach here is GOLD.

At least now I finally know that I'm not crazy. Most all of the coworkers think fast thinners and hardners and hot booth temperatures is quicker. I noticed with a high metallic color, if you hang your paint gun up between coats for 10 minutes etc, the metallic will settle in the gun and if you don’t give it a little shake when starting to use it, you will use up the metallic in a few seconds
*Brian, that’s prolly the best vid when comes to blending base coat.* 🥇🏆 Thank you so much for your time and effort to educate us. 🙏 edit: *And remember: don't overthink it it's just paint.* LoL

Keeping the gun parallel to the panel, higher temp reducer, and orientation coat is key. I will always turn the lights off in the booth, and check the base before clear with a sun gun. If you need to do another orientation coat while you are looking at the base with the sun gun, and the booth lights off. Great video!
When I first started painting , when I had doubts about something in the middle of having to spray the gun, my finger fizzled a bit leaving weird awful extra strips of paints, how you paint with your hands is like a well maintained piano.

This is very helpful. I’m about to do a full silver paint job on an 85 Silverado. I haven’t done a full silver job yet but I am worried about tiger stripes. This helps give me the technique I need to avoid it.
Brother i say to myself when I’m painting laying down the clear it’s only paint don’t over think it ....just like magic everything turns out sweet dude ...abs west oxford bodyshop 💓
Slow reducer is the trick! First thing i learned from my dad, i remember seeing a kandy paint job with tiger stripes on the hood and trunk, and first thing my pops said was " thats what happens when u dont use slow reducer" 😂
That was awesome Brian. Metallic can be tricky. I found out it's difficult to try to blend part of a panel without doing the whole thing. I see you like to make a complete pass, that's a good point.
These are excellent and as I go step by step in my project it is helping. I want to clear up something that was confusing: In the Spraying Clearcoat vid you described Overlap as moving UP that much (i.e a 75% is moving up 75%). In this video you describe it as having "25% new area." Which is it and thanks in advance. I get the concept.
I'm retired and can attest that you know your stuff. Back in my day shooting enamel metallics you just reduced out your color and shot a nice drop coat. No streaks ever. Took half the time as you but not near as nice finished job. I like watching confidence in motion.
thank you for your tips, the big one for me was mixing 50/50 base with clear base at the end, man this solved my problem, i;ve ben recoating and recoating, and no luck, but then desided to watch you, and got your tip, THANK YOU!!!!!, NISSAN K23, REALY KIKED MY ASS, but your help, after 2 50/50 mix recoats problem was solved.
Now I know what I did wrong when I Zebra striped all them cars back in the day🥴.. I was fanning out a fogged out figured 8 to get rid of them.. man I wish I had youtube , a smart phone and master painters like u that do killer videos in 15 minutes . Nice to see someone prep right to .. this is a great vid for Those learning and even for good painters , we can always learn more. Outstanding video! Your knowledge and skill are just awesome. By far one of my favorite channels. Great work.
Planing on spraying 2018 Tacoma silver on scratched hood and door frames (original owner caused). I never would have figured this technique out. Thanks.
You are a artist you know as good as me it takes certain skill to paint. Very
Empressed with all your vidios. Your good at what you do keep up the great work and vidios
Thanks a lot for these videos brian.I learned a lot from you .blessings from jamaica 🇯🇲
my paint teacher . thanks Mr. Brian. now i can set my spray correctly and have a good result.
Excellent video..great teaching. like you say, wish I had someone like you to teach when I younger. Love it and thanks
Glad you are using the phrase!!
Slow reducer is the trick! First thing i learned from my dad, i remember seeing a kandy paint job with tiger stripes on the hood and trunk, and first thing my pops said was " thats what happens when u dont use slow reducer" 😂
Yup. Pops is always right !!
Great Great job. I am spraying silver on my car this week thanks.
Absolutely beautiful paint work Brian. I appreciate the effort you put into these videos.
I work on yacht and I painted a lot.. your videos are great help
very well Brother excellent work greetings from Honduras 🇭🇳👍
That was awesome Brian. Metallic can be tricky. I found out it's difficult to try to blend part of a panel without doing the whole thing. I see you like to make a complete pass, that's a good point.
You are simply a beast! Thank you for being our mentor 🙏🏽
Great video! Great technique to solve the streaking that is soooo easy to do with silvers.
Thanks man and thanks for your service in this industry
thank you for your tips, the big one for me was mixing 50/50 base with clear base at the end, man this solved my problem, i;ve ben recoating and recoating, and no luck, but then desided to watch you, and got your tip, THANK YOU!!!!!, NISSAN K23, REALY KIKED MY ASS, but your help, after 2 50/50 mix recoats problem was solved.
Yes that really helps make the color transparent. You can even add more reducer to thin it out
Another lovely cracking job there mate
I really appreciate your content Brian
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Nice I’m preparing to paint this weekend
Opened my own bodyshop recently... I'm still learning loads of tips from you 👌🏼👌🏼
Beautiful paint 🎨 the silver finish was 🔥
Now I know what I did wrong when I Zebra striped all them cars back in the day🥴.. I was fanning out a fogged out figured 8 to get rid of them.. man I wish I had youtube , a smart phone and master painters like u that do killer videos in 15 minutes . Nice to see someone prep right to .. this is a great vid for Those learning and even for good painters , we can always learn more. I don’t know how many times I walked out of the spray booth and said I won’t do that again. 🙀
We are only as good as our last job!
thanks again brian for all the cool tips, i have learned a lot so far, i am very impressed with your teaching techniques cheers nick

hey man love your vids i have been painting since i was 15 now im 21 but working at body shops and at a dealership you see a big difference and the way you explain things its basically what i had to kinda learn on my own with help of my dad. but keep it up awesome content and hey you should come do a video at my shop lol
Glad the videos help!!!
