Yesss!!! I've been wanting this for so long! Thank you so much for putting this together! I've been putting off my next playthrough of DAI in anticipation of this list, so thank you again!
I think I use all the "utility" mods that you do, and would regard every one of them as essential. They just get rid of all the annoying little pop ups, messages, glowing things, and add so much more to the immersion of the game and are great QoL mods. Good recommendations!
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I was like damn they aint no mods for this fr. thanks for proving me wrong, and I hope the community can come back to it, and work on it again. There's such a great game buried under some questionable design decisions.
This is a very nice mod complilation video, nice stuff ^^ One thing that really annoyed me about DAI was the fact that there was no longer any healing spells, that was just a silly change i felt, running out of potions and not being able to finish a quest having to run all the way back to get potions back from an outpost was.. Dumb.. So one of my favorite mods out there was one where you could change the Barrier spell, i balanced it in a way so that i would not be OP, while it would heal while protecting me character, it did not have a lot of health and would still degenerate while also take the normal amount of damage it would ofc disappear like normal. A simple but nice way of getting at least some sort of healing back in the game. You could still die with the barrier changed like this, especially on higher difficulty, it was simply so that potions would now be more of a, emergency resource rather than the single source of healing.
I think you should also mention for those new to modding dai at least for me is to disable all mod prior to going to skyhold the first time. You'll get an infinite white screen. Another one is those bed mods which affects when you go to servants quarter and it just crashes.
There is another fix for the white screen. Change it to windowed mode, then make the window really small. This will stop you from getting the white screen. Just change it back afterwards.
@ Ah it’s ok, i only use DAI Mm only for those mods i will probably nor change anyway. The rest runs with Frosty for me. Thanks again for your Mod recommendations and instruction videos. Still very helpful, since I’m replaying DAI currently :)
Hi, thank you for the modlist, you are the only one out there still dedicated to it! I just wanted to say that I personally had some issues with some of the mods, but it was nice, because the game wouldn’t load otherwise, so I could do the 50/50 and root them all out before starting. But one in particular I want to warn everyone about which is “Improved Dorian in Black”, this mod does NOT work whatsoever and starts issues after you meet Dorian. Everything worked perfectly until after I had met Dorian and then when I tried to enter the war council the war council/table never loads and instead glitches out, in the mods page everyone is experiencing somewhat similar things. I just want to warn anyone who doesn’t know and has to go through 50+ mods mid-game and stress, because SUDDENLY out of nowhere the game doesn’t work. Well with this modlist this is the reason.
I'm sorry to hear that mod doesn't work for you! I've been using it for years and never had an issue before. I wonder if it's when installed with another set of mods if that causes the issue potentially. Or if one of the other mods I'm using is causing it to work fine for me. Modding is and always will be such a mystery sometimes 😂
I love this video, helped me a lot and also the one where you explain how to install DAI mods and Frosty mods together. I learned a lot fom them, you do a great job. :) Speaking of charcter creation. I inedde found a newer mod for eye textures. If you still play, there is a mod that makes eye colors more vivid and improves the textures. Which also improved the grey eyes issue, that some companions and NPCs have. It's a Frosty mod, so you don't have to repeat the whole DAIMM merging and folder copying process. So i can highly recommend the Fade Touched Eyes mod. I also have the Solas Hair Mod. Yes, just search for that on Nexus and it works. For those who like the egg, but want it a bit less eggy. ;D As for Cullen, yes. Forst playthough, but i feel my elven Inquisitor would keep Solas at bay and go for Cullen. There's a bucnh of Mods for Cullen out there. Sadly the Cullen No Shine mods is DAIMM only. So i just use a 4k texture mod for him. But there's many outfit mods for Skyhold etx.. I always found it starnge in videos, that he mostly sits in his office and if rarely on the acrualy battlefield, but always runs around in armor. So why not let him wear something more formal for example. I also use Cullen's Tarot Card, which looks more similar to him. I even granted the Mabari a remake with the Improved Mabari Mod. Because he seems to love dogs :D
Great list! You mentioned that you mostly played EF, so I figured I'd mention that there are also a ton of great mods for my favourite race to play, Qunari. The first one being bigger horns! No longer do we have to look inadequate next to Iron Bull or other Qunari NPCs. There are also lots of great hair mods to replace the lacklustre vanilla options. More recently there have also been new immersive outfits added such as the Saarebas gear from Trespasser and some of the multiplayer armours to give your character a more diverse gear choice than just Arishok or Antaam Saar. I don't think I could play Qunari characters without all these mods so my eternal thanks to all the modders in the community!
I LOVE this game! And I love to create new characters and imagine new storylines for them. Do you know any game similar to Dragon Age that is as fun and creative? Cheers
Mass Effect Series, SWTOR, Baldur's Gate 3, Skyrim, and if you don't mind CRPGs - DOS2, Pathfinder Wrath of Righteous are all my favorite RPGs! For everything accept for Baldur's Gate 3 I have let's plays on the channel so you can preview the game before hand to see if it's a good fit for you!
Extended dialogue wheel overhaul suddenly stopped working for me, completely out of nowhere. Tried pretty much everything to get it to work again but no dice. Every other mod works fine. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
It could be a compatibility thing with frosty. I feel like a little while ago there was some mods that had to be used on specific versions of frosty. So maybe you updated and that did it?
My mods wont load either utilizing frosty. And in the launch section, ive selected Steam and EA. When i select steam its stays in “Waiting for platform”. Steam doesnt appear in the FrostyFix app. Daimod mods work fine.
If you get the waiting for platform -- that's a weird bug that exists. Either keep force quitting and trying again OR have a mod you don't care about that you can keep either installing or uninstalling in order to force the mod manager to apply mods. 95% of the time that I do that it gets it out of that weird holding pattern. I'm personally using Speed Launch as that mod as it doesn't matter to me if I see the BioWare logo! Also I have heard from most steam users that setting it to EA app fixes it so if that trick gets you in game but you don't see your frosty mods try switching it!
Anyone having a issue where the game launches from Frosty fine and game loads but frosty gets stuck on waiting for game even know the game is launched and I’m playing ?
That's a common bug with EA App -- and then from restarting EA App when it thinks it should be loading DAI but it doesn't so it auto does after. If the mods aren't showing and it's still stuck on waiting for game my main trick to fix that is force quit out of frosty and EA App, load into frosty, add in a mod you can easily enable/disable -- I like quick launch for that. Then either enable or disable it. That should force the frosty to update your mods and then load everything like normal after!
does anyone know how to fix my custom hawkes hair!! i have modded hair for my inquisitor so because of the the hair for my hawke is glitchy and she’s bald 😭 idk how to fix it
Some hair styles do glitch out -- the mod page normally tells you which ones. Are you using the same one for both? If not replace your Hawk's hairstyle with another modded one to see if that will fix it!
@@FoodThenGames I’m using a HF hair mod for hawke that way it doesn’t cancel out my EF inquisitor hair mod the hair shows up but my hawke still looks bald. I’m using the frosty hair mods for both (also i appreciate you replying back!! thank you for any help you can give 😭)
@@FoodThenGames I've come to the solution that it's because i need mods thatll replace certain hairs in the cc but i cannot for the life of me find any that'll replace the hairs i need to get the hair to work for my custom hawke
You might need to load back up a save prior to remaking your hawke and pick a hairstyle that you can replace. But honestly if you haven't dug through the .daimods yet I'd suggest doing that as I think almost every hair has been replaced for humans at this point! Also checking the big hair packs might help as that usually has something.
Do you have a Load Order to recommend? I'm doing my annual playthrough of DAI again, and this video has been a huge help. It's really nice to see what Modders have been doing over the years. It will be a while before Dread Wolf releases, but I still love DAI.
Honestly not at all -- None of my mods really overlap in that way where I'd be worried about load order. The only time I focus on it for this is if the outfit is a replacer to an armour and the armour needs something else to work or something else make it jammies, etc. Then I'll always put the replacer under all of those!
so im trying to use the reaver armor from elven pjs but for some reason the armor textures are bad like really bad its suppost to replace the arishock armor meshes and textures but its just the arishock armor with bad textures
I can not for the life of me get mods to work after they jus took away Origin last week. I'm up to date on Frosty yet I launch it with EA desktop and or steam selected and it just doesn't activate the mods after launching.
@@FoodThenGames They're just not showing in game. I can get it to launch, but itll usually restart steam and EA then make me sign into EA again, then starts the game. The game just has no mods. Its only been a problem since they completely took away the ability to use origin.
That sounds like frosty isn't launching the game but more it's launching after the restart without it. To confirm have you changed the launch platform option? Most people have luck setting it to EA App instead of steam so that might fix it!
So question, regarding the Open All Halla Doors, is there a mod that also disables losing party favor or whatever it was called? I tend to forget where the Halla are and like to explore so I tend to either use a guide just to get them, or just lose all of the favor (or whatever).
@@FoodThenGames Found one though idk if it works, wont know until I actually get there. There was also a Halla door mod that says it has it included but again, wont know until actually getting there. So a question regarding the Enhanced Character Creation mod then. For just the color wheels do you need any of the main files or other mods that it says those main files need? Was wanting just the wheel for hair color, but not all the other stuff, and still kind new to the whole modding of Dragon Age, modded Skyrim, Fallout, and Fable before, though usually unsuccessfully.
I had the problem with my Frosty Mods not showing. I changed the launch platform and even installed and uninstalled a mod but even though it launches the game crashes in the loading screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?
That sounds like either a mod conflict or a mod just not working with that version of frosty as some mods do and don't work on different versions. If you have multiple frosty mods, try installing one at a time. If it's only one then maybe try one that's an easy install/works with everything like the skip the BioWare splash screen one!
@FoodThenGames Yeah I managed to single out the mod that was causing it. Took a while lol. Now I gotta figure out why one of the eyebrows looks weird😆 Thanks for the reply though
I am playing a necro and built a walking bomb build. Sadly I had to find out that the imbued material is only farmably from the elves...but I can't return to this region. Is there a mod that opens those regions again? Or does one of the supply mods give me access to the imbued vestment?
I'd probably just look through the material/supply mods available and see if one gives it as I've never heard of a mod that will open up limited time areas to re-farm!
I wanted to mod my game so badly but I literally have no clue how to do it. When I go to files and see 20 different ones I don't know what to do and then I click download and it says it needs me to install 15 other things. It's such a pain, screw this engine.
It’s a shame that we can’t have the npc hairstyles in the base game cause I wanted to have Cullen’s hairstyle for my character but all that was available was the what I like to call the Peter pevensie hair, the hairstyle before it and that hairstyle that’s shaved all over except for the top which I hate that hairstyle
i have a bit of a problem with this kind of thing, i got same list as you (did download all of them) and installed all of those same mods, and removed others that i had, and when making new game save my game crashes before CC comes up after the loading screen with the 3 info cards.
I'd highly suggest uninstalling them, making sure all the .daimods work first and if not removing some of them to see which is the problem. If those all work move onto frosty, rinse and repeat!
@@FoodThenGames i did have .daimods working and got frosty ones to run once, then i went outside for couple hours, shut down the PC and came back had it running and started the game, and on 2nd and any other try after that my problems started :S
do just .daimods work? If so then it's frosty being frosty which honestly can happen from time to time. If even just the .daimods don't work then you might need to repair your game and start over!
@@FoodThenGames yea the .daimods work without any hitches every time i play the game, but when trying frosty ones same time and removing those .daimods that i know would cause problems the game gets F'cked but ill see later today about 1 frosty mod at a time and see how it goes :D if not then ill just stick with .daimods and be done with trying to frosty mod :D
Absolutely amazing and detailed video, loved it!!! I watched your video on how to use both .DAI and Frosty mods but unfortunately, I am facing issues with loading game and mods through frosty mod manager. Can you please make an easy to follow video on changing frosty mods to .DAI mods? I really need Morrigan's outfit for my inquisitor!! Thanks
Thank you! And as in converting them from frosty to .dai? You can't -- they're two very different modding types and the only reason certain mods can exist is because of Frosty and how much more you can do with it versus the .dai mods.
They're on my patreon page for patrons only! I have mod lists and monthly updates available to everyone, but weekly updates & CC information are for Patrons only! www.patreon.com/foodthengames
I wanted to play Inquisition with mods so bad. I followed the steps on modding with Dai mod manager and Frosty, but regardless of how much i tried the game always had one issue or another. So i had to give up sadly..
Hey! Would you be able to help me? I wanted to use the Enhanced Character Creation specifically for .DAI modding, but I can’t find it anywhere. Frosty doesn’t work for me, so I always only use .DAI mods. Any idea on where I can find that?
Thank you for making dai content, quick question though. Are dai mod manager and dai tools suite loader the same thing. I see a few mods require it but its labled as abandoned. Is it still usuable/required? Tia
They're the same thing! Tool suite loader is what it was called originally as you had the option in the same program to load either the tools to make a mod or the Mod Manager! If you haven't checked out my how to mod for .daimods video (the newer one) it has a direct link to I believe just the mod manager if you need it!
I haven't run into any issues with the ones made for an "older patch version"! I just install them as usual -- you just have to ignore Frosty yelling at you 😂
Hey, the “Enhanced Character Creation” mod just makes my hair disappear, along with my brows, and I get a neck seam, I am using the DAIMOD version if that helps, the mod does this even when it’s the only mod loaded.
Disappeared as in when you go into the CC for the first time? When you go to the mirror in the emporium? Or just when you load into the game on a save after installing? If it's one of the first two that's normal (except for the neck seam I think, but honestly that might be just sliders needing to be adjusted). ECC moves all the sliders around so everyone looks a little different than what they should for presets and it will 100% reset your character in the Emporium if they weren't built with ECC as the sliders aren't the same anymore. So you have to start from scratch either way. However if it's the third issue or sliders are missing so you can't even give them hair or eyebrows then that's a weird issue I haven't run into. I'd double check what version of the .daimods one you're running and see if there's a different version to try to see if that fixes it!
@@FoodThenGames first time, hair just isn’t there, brows aren’t there, neck seam, two of those things are normal and fixable? I can give them hair, idk about brows
If you can give them hair, eyebrows under the eye section then it's working as intended! Neck seams you might just need to switch out the complexion to fix but otherwise like I said ECC re-arranges sliders to give you more sliders so it won't ever look the same as vanilla CC and the presets will never look the same as vanilla CC.
@@FoodThenGames I was able to add hair and brows, the neck seam is still a problem but most outfits cover the neck anyways so it’s fine, thank you for taking the time to help me 😄
Frosty mods are specifically for games that use the frostbite engine -- DAI mods started with daimm which only allowed for very specific mods, Frosty has been developed since which allows for more complex modding which is why things like new armours or assets can be added into the game!
Not that I know of -- there are some that changes things like a few flora overhauls but no full texture updates. To be honest the game still holds up really, really well and I don't think many people feel a need for one currently!
I have an older top 7 mods vid and others similar to that you could take a look at but otherwise this is list for me is what I'd consider essential because I'm just that extra 😂
@@FoodThenGames Ok thanks, but Ive ran into loads of headaches using this Frosty mod with both the EA app and Steam , think Ill just go vanilla. Cheers
DAI or Frosty Mods? DAI Mods: Remerge them to have them show again Frosty Mods: Set your Launch Platform, my newest how to mod Frosty explained how to do it in the tip section!
@@FoodThenGames Frosty Mods. I downloaded the EA app because I figured “why not?” So after the download, I booted the game up through Frosty like normal…then nothing. Just vanilla. The mods are still in the mod manager and active, it’s just that the don’t get applied to the game.
@@Nubii0_23 There's no need to do that! If you look through my newest how to mod frosty video, in the tips and tricks section I showed how to change the launch platform and that should fix your problem hopefully!
Honestly the dirt buildup thing is not immersive at all 😂. I'm looking at the cutscene where my inquisitor is walking by Cass and a few others, and the only person with brown pants is me. As if the Herald has shat their Andrastian pants.
I would but it's honestly person dependent -- each load order, game, save file is different so what works for me might not work for you at all sadly. It's just a process of elimination/testing. I will say companion mods are usually a problem for 90% of the people playing so when you get to the DLCs I'd remove them if you're having any issues!
My CC presets are available to patrons! My let’s play character and one other character are available currently. It actually might be that character or someone a little similar!

so im trying to use the reaver armor from elven pjs but for some reason the armor textures are bad like really bad its suppost to replace the arishock armor meshes and textures but its just the arishock armor with bad textures
I can not for the life of me get mods to work after they jus took away Origin last week. I'm up to date on Frosty yet I launch it with EA desktop and or steam selected and it just doesn't activate the mods after launching.
Are the mods not showing in game or is frosty not launching/stuck in that "waiting for game" limbo?
@@FoodThenGames They're just not showing in game. I can get it to launch, but itll usually restart steam and EA then make me sign into EA again, then starts the game. The game just has no mods. Its only been a problem since they completely took away the ability to use origin.
That sounds like frosty isn't launching the game but more it's launching after the restart without it. To confirm have you changed the launch platform option? Most people have luck setting it to EA App instead of steam so that might fix it!
@@FoodThenGames Got it working, thanks!
So question, regarding the Open All Halla Doors, is there a mod that also disables losing party favor or whatever it was called? I tend to forget where the Halla are and like to explore so I tend to either use a guide just to get them, or just lose all of the favor (or whatever).
As far as I know there isn’t. I’d just suggest heading back to the room every so many minutes so you don’t lose favor!
How can I check mod compatibility? My game starts crashing on start up
The best way is to uninstall all your mods one by one until you find the one causing issues!
I am using the Same Morrigans Hair mod what mod is it called to wear morrigans armor?
it's mentioned in the vid and the link for it is in the blog post but it's called Elf Pajamas!
@@FoodThenGames Ah crap...okay thanks a lot. Good videos :)
Question, is there any recommended Mods that add new Story/Quest elements or new Enemies?
There aren't any mods for DAI like that -- the best you can do is mods that bring in a new combat class or a multiplayer class!
@FoodThenGames Thank you for the fast and helpful response!
out of curiosity, what is your accent? Sounds like american, canadian and australian all mixed together
The mods are working in w11? Last time i tried mods in w11 arent working
sadly the quest tracker hider mod is no longer available
If you check around on nexus there might be another version of the mod floating around.
Can you please help me
The first translation line is at the top
Ok, i couldn'T find the character creation on your website. Where exactly is it?
They're on my patreon page for patrons only! I have mod lists and monthly updates available to everyone, but weekly updates & CC information are for Patrons only!

@@FoodThenGames Ah right, can't havbe all that talesa money. But thanks for the great helpful videos
Is there a mod where all companions can come with you I think that would be fun
So, this is your Mood Mod List.
I wanted to play Inquisition with mods so bad. I followed the steps on modding with Dai mod manager and Frosty, but regardless of how much i tried the game always had one issue or another.
So i had to give up sadly..
Can you make a tutorial on how to make mods for DAI?
I don't make mods for DAI so I can't help there I'm sorry!
Hey! Would you be able to help me? I wanted to use the Enhanced Character Creation specifically for .DAI modding, but I can’t find it anywhere. Frosty doesn’t work for me, so I always only use .DAI mods. Any idea on where I can find that?
If you go to the ECC page and look at the older downloads on the download page it should be in there! I believe there’s a few options for it in there!
@@FoodThenGamesThank you so much! 💕🫶
To mod, can we do the steam version?
you can!
@@FoodThenGames thank you! I thought as much. I already have the modmanager, just got a little confused is all.
Is there a way to add these mods to the Playstation 😢
How did you get these old mods to work after the latest patches? All mine in Frosty show "Mod made for different version of the game"
I haven't run into any issues with the ones made for an "older patch version"! I just install them as usual -- you just have to ignore Frosty yelling at you 😂
which version of the freckles mod do you use?
For Koric's Freckles? Just the normal freckles edit under "other"!
@@FoodThenGames I was able to add hair and brows, the neck seam is still a problem but most outfits cover the neck anyways so it’s fine, thank you for taking the time to help me 😄
Quick question can someone tell me what frosty mods are
Frosty mods are specifically for games that use the frostbite engine -- DAI mods started with daimm which only allowed for very specific mods, Frosty has been developed since which allows for more complex modding which is why things like new armours or assets can be added into the game!
Hi! Are there any mods that enchance textures and meshes of the overall game? (just bought it, was a fan of origins way back, cheers)
Not that I know of -- there are some that changes things like a few flora overhauls but no full texture updates. To be honest the game still holds up really, really well and I don't think many people feel a need for one currently!
@@FoodThenGames Okay, cheers. Do you have a list of mods you think are essential that I should start with?
I have an older top 7 mods vid and others similar to that you could take a look at but otherwise this is list for me is what I'd consider essential because I'm just that extra 😂
@@FoodThenGames Ok thanks, but Ive ran into loads of headaches using this Frosty mod with both the EA app and Steam , think Ill just go vanilla. Cheers
thats bg3's shadowheart in DA ?
Please make a folder patch available with mods
What are your PC and monitor specs?
After I downloaded the EA app, my mods disappeared from the game. Has this happened to u before?
DAI or Frosty Mods?
DAI Mods: Remerge them to have them show again
Frosty Mods: Set your Launch Platform, my newest how to mod Frosty explained how to do it in the tip section!
@@FoodThenGames Frosty Mods. I downloaded the EA app because I figured “why not?” So after the download, I booted the game up through Frosty like normal…then nothing. Just vanilla. The mods are still in the mod manager and active, it’s just that the don’t get applied to the game.
sounds like changing the launch platform should fix it!
@@FoodThenGames sooo go back to origin?
@@Nubii0_23 There's no need to do that! If you look through my newest how to mod frosty video, in the tips and tricks section I showed how to change the launch platform and that should fix your problem hopefully!
your accent sounds like a mix of American Irish Scottish and Aussie
Who's here after it became free on Epic games
YESSSSSS
are these mods trespasser dlc aprove last time i tried to play that trespasser burned my game to the ground lol
Not all of them, DLCs in general are hard to mod because some mods do and don't work -- I actually have a DLC modding tips video coming out next week!
Honestly the dirt buildup thing is not immersive at all 😂. I'm looking at the cutscene where my inquisitor is walking by Cass and a few others, and the only person with brown pants is me. As if the Herald has shat their Andrastian pants.
PC or ps3?
PC. BioWare modding is currently only available for pc!
Make video which of them works with all DLC😅
I would but it's honestly person dependent -- each load order, game, save file is different so what works for me might not work for you at all sadly. It's just a process of elimination/testing. I will say companion mods are usually a problem for 90% of the people playing so when you get to the DLCs I'd remove them if you're having any issues!
Would you care to make a character creation video of that Character, please? ❤
My CC presets are available to patrons! My let’s play character and one other character are available currently. It actually might be that character or someone a little similar!
@@FoodThenGames ok, partrons as in, if i have subcribed to your channel?
Patrons as in on my Patreon! There should be a link for it in all my vid descriptions.
Yessssssss Elf women 😛 💯🔥🔥💥💯
Am I the only one who thinks that women in this game have weird shoulders?
Now here i am trying to get frosty to work on the linux steam deck 🤣 my god such a hassle, i managed to install a bunch of overrides mod on dao and da2 but none of the mod managers seems to be working, they run just fine but apparently they can't install shit

I used this tutorial to install fluffy5000 to mod mh rise and it works like a charm, reframework mods don't work however (at least as far as i tried)
Haven't tried that method on frosty tho, but if you guys have a way to make it work, please let us know :")
we steam deck user are dying to replay the whole dragon age games but now with mods🤣
why you acting like a watch mojo intro staring
ahh yes lots of cheat mods
Why list the bisual mods? How is this changing overall game experience. Fail
