Whitney Houston is the reason I'm performing today. Growing up biracial and raised by a primarily white family, Whitney was really the first introduction to Black excellence that I had. I saw myself in her as a glorious person of color who could create such beautiful art and so I began my journey of singing and now I'm in my third year of college getting my degree in Musical Theatre. I owe all the inspiration for my craft to her. Gone way too soon. Glad you both find the magic in her voice too!
Whitney rehearsed only for the musical arrangements. But vocally most of the notes just came out depending on how she she felt at this precise moment. Matter of fact, her rehearsals (there are a few of them on UA-cam) are vocally very different from the actual performances. That's why the band always follow her lead. She continuously directing them with her hand gestures. Whitney is still underrated if you ask me💯
She’s a true genius at her craft tbh, an underrated live performer and storyteller
Whitney: "I believe."
Audience: 👏👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿
Exactly 👏🏽
As they should!!!! 💖❤️💚💙💜
‼️‼️‼️‼️
My lord. Just the best singer (dead or alive) in the world EVER - Love Mariah and Celine but really got no patch on Whitney...:)It is just unbelievable.
Right
I have so many live versions of her songs in my library. Even towards her decline her tone was still great.
All of her facial expression and hands and gestures are very special and unique, too. She does this just naturally not planned. Some plan all the movements and gestures and adlibs. But WH does it naturally. Her rehearsal are totally different from the real stage.
I love watching you guys react, but you really have to stop talking while the performance is going on, maybe you can pause if you have something to say. I feel the same as you do about Whitney, and when you two are talking while she’s singing, we can’t hear her so please don’t take offense, it’s just that I really like you guys, and I want to keep watching.
You can never have this kind voice by training, you have to GOD DAMN born with it.😮
That performance of ihn, and I'm telling u is from the first night she sold out the radio city music hall in NY for the bodyguard tour, she sold the whole week out this is right after she had Bobbi Kris that's why she's a lil thick and her voice was at its pinnacle as you can hear! Before the tour which was like8 legs. That's why after that tour she didn't sound the same as she does here!
I love Whitney. She always gives me chills when I hear her sing
Sing
Do more Whitney reactions!! One Moment In Time -Grammy Awards and You Give Good Love -Soul Train Awards
Truly The Voice. The greatest. 1985-1995 she was unstoppable, but even after that she was still unfuckwithable
periodt…. shes queennnn💁🏾
Whitney has always been one of my favorite vocalists of all time. I will always be angry that she was taken from us too soon
Whitney is the one! No one else will ever
Cissy was conducting the whole band not just the pianist lol
Great Reaction! I am a big Whitney Houston Fan Rollingstone listed the 200 Greatest Singers of ALL TIME and Whitney is #2 greatest of all time and Aretha Franklin #1. Mariah is #5 on that list.
Ricky Minor Whitney's musical director in the 80's had a lot to with some of her live arrangements including this song. I just love the way the ballads creciendos from a whisper to a booming theatrical ending. It really allowed
Whitney room to work her magic.
Nice channel! But you guys talk a little too much during the performances, so people can’t hear what Whitney was saying/singing. I’m sure you aren’t able to hear her sing as well. Maybe you should think about pausing the video during your commentary.
I love that somebody our age still appreciates people like Whitney and Kelly Clarkson with such powerhouse voices!!
You should check out Greatest Love of All Madison Square Gardens 1988. It’s ver slow but so amazing
I personally think the Welcome Home Heroes performance is her best of that song! Its just effortlessly amazing
Palmer - on the Whitney music video DVD she talks about the “Home” debut. The conductor started the song too slow (it was a mistake) but she was going with it. Cissy came in (took over) and starts to speed up the tempo. It’s prob somewhere on YT.
I'm only 2:25 minutes in and I'm already hype asf. Matt on the right is preaching 🙌🏾
I'm so gay I love this
To have her mother training her and on top that having natural talent, she was set for greatness!
you guys talk alot.
I love Whitney. She is missed.
I highly recommend listening to her live performance of “I am Changing” from Dreamgirls. If you thought “And I am Telling You” was amazing, you will be absolutely FLOORED. She blew the roof off the place.
Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on that horrendous Rolling Stones list!
Whitney's version was impeccable, but I still think Stephanie Mills has the young Dorothy feel + the power chops that the song demands and that still gives me chills. And Whitney's label was "AIR ista," not "uh RISTA." ❤
Her duets with Natalie Cole on a 1990 show called Big Break ("Say A Little Prayer," "Bridge Over Troubled Waters") are life-altering. Never seen WH happier singing with someone else and they both crush these songs.
I’m such a fan of your reviews (both movies & music) BUT always wondered if you would pay tribute to some of the gems & legends from my era (I’m a GenXer)…I have experienced the full arc of these music legends and can testify that the latter generations are truly missing out…NO shade!!😎
Hoping that you both bless us with more old school reviews like this…starting with the LEGENDARY Luther Vandross!! On behalf of my generation…Thank you for this wonderful trip down memory lane!!🙏🏽❤️
It literally made my day to see how excited you were about these versions! I am blessed to share this planet with you, best friends
No one can ever disrespect Whitney houston it so unfair to compare her to other artist😂😂 not even beyonce or adele van top this performance of Nippy 😂😂
Can you react to Patti LaBelle we are the world?
Cissy went behind the curtain to lead the band because they were playing the wrong tempo.
Great video, guys!
What I don’t like about you guys reaction. Is that you guys don’t let the people hear the music because you guys talk at the same time and so much
Agree
It’s too much at times
You guys should react to Whitney sings home in Africa.
You all talk too much during a performance seriously
The lyrics from home are really beautiful and her performance from 1994 of this song is totally emotional
94 home is One of my favorite performances of WH.
Body guard era lasted from 1992 to 1994.
The funnest thing is people who can't come for her always bring up she didn't write, the Amy of albums she sold she didn't need to and if people look up the history of singers and writers when this all started writers were not singers and singers were not writers. The fact that someone can write and sing came later in radio music. That's why you had a lot of older songs from the 40s 40s and 60s sung by many different artist! The one who made it the biggest hit was the one the song was associated with and 9ties out of 10 the writer was not the singer!
Oh my, you guys are so gay.
Change of subject. If you have not seen Kevin Costner's eulogy at Whitney"s funeral, it's a must-see. It was perfect, and a measure of love.
You Guys Are Amazing so true a Once in a Lifetime Voice👏🏾💪🏾👍🏽👏🏾🙏🏾
Can I cry? Thank for this! 🤩
This made my life! Not sure if you two have ever reacted to Dimash. He is the best male singer I’ve ever heard in my life.
Have you ever done a deep dive on Luther Vandross? Curious
lol he is so overrated and there's no such thing as best male singer EVEN IF HE IS THE BEST YOU'VE HEARD SO FAR
I loved this so much. Living for it!! And please get that Cinderella sorted, we’ve waited long enough
Way too much talking over the singing
The service that you do for the gays. ❤
Yes, you just have to Watch!!! Exactly 😢
❤
otherworldly
💕😘 🍀 Nippy 🎶 ♥ 👑
❤❤❤❤
You guys should check out Glenys Grace, as a forever Whitney super fan, I swear she is the closest to Whitney that ANYONE ELSE has ever come, if you close your eyes on some songs you think it’s Whitney!!!
@@TheSensationalOne oh yes, I too can tell the difference, and I agree with everything you said, I’m just saying that she comes close, but of course there will never be another to recreate the vocal GENIUS of the one and only Whitney Houston!!
No… shes copying Whitneys tone….
Her star sign LEO has alot to do with who she is which makes her voice so so vibrant and resonance and beautiful.
Nope. "Home" is Stephanie's. Whitney's cover is good, but it doesn't move me the way Stephanie's singing of it does.
I love Whitney's voice and her live performances were stellar. I think no one can touch her live performances.
But not on "Home" Matt (...IMO).
Lol What stephanie sounds like jlo compared to Whitney keep it cute.
Please react to Louis Tomlinson new album faith in the future thanks
