Do you pivot on the lead hook?

  • The most common question-
    Why are you being taught to pivot when you are NOT going to use it in a fight?
    This video is my own opinion on pivoting on the lead hook & the answer for me would still be “it depends” on how you use it and how natural it comes to you as you gain more fighting experience.
    It gets too much when you start exaggerating the motion and losing the whole purpose of pivoting on the lead hook. I guess it comes down to preference too. If it works for you, it works but don’t use it fundamentally wrong!

    No. Low benefit. Terrible in a street fight

      For me personally, it just sacrifices a lot of balance and makes me lose a lot of my footing if I were to combine/link more than 3 punches…in a street fight (or in a boxing match) it might be all good if you land a solid punch but if you miss…not efficient at all

      In a gym, perhaps. It's not going to generate enough power to overcome the lack of good footing.
