Long form, hour long videos are the best for those that want to learn. That short stuff youtube algorithms keep pushing is destroying attention spans and how we consume information. When you teach I sit down and listen no matter how long it is for a simple reason, you provide VALUE and aren’t trying to sell a personality to brands and corporations. I still go back and watch the early videos just to make sure its engrained in my head forever
Dude, Socrates said literacy was destroying attention spans: "For this invention will produce forgetfulness in the minds of those who learn to use it, because they will not practice their memory. Their trust in writing, produced by external characters which are no part of themselves, will discourage the use of their own memory within them. You have invented an elixir not of memory, but of reminding; and you offer your pupils the appearance of wisdom, not true wisdom, for they will read many things without instruction and will therefore seem [275b] to know many things, when they are for the most part ignorant and hard to get along with, since they are not wise, but only appear wise." short form or long form, in the forum or on a phone's screen, "Jack and Jill" or "War and Peace", "Thug Notes" or "Masterpiece Theater", learning is still learning, and it is ALL beneficial to those who choose to learn. It is not that the short form is destroying attention spans, it is more suited to those who cannot focus on the long form- whether it is from ADHD making concentration difficult for the child, a busy family life that draws the young adult away, or the daily aches and pains of waking up distracting the thoughts of those getting their first grey hair... what matters is not the form that the education takes, but that it can reach the right ears, for what good is a long form video, no matter the quality, to a person with a neurological condition that will not permit him watch it? what good is a short form video, no matter the quality, to a person with an ego that will not permit him to watch it? neither do anyone any good, for they fall on the wrong ears... that which is limited by nature, and that which is limited by choice. ...and the same can be said for the reverse, as well.
@@IAmValenwind They both have their place but platforms built around addicting consumers to short-form videos are destroying attention spans. This is just a fact. Look up the neuroscience on this. Context-switching constantly over and over and over and over and over is training the brain to become addicted to the dopamine spike and to seek it out endlessly. This is no where near the effect that books have. Books draw you in deeply and engage deeper activity in the brain compared to internet browsing or social media like tiktok/instagram/twitter etc.
@@IAmValenwind i would argue that the shorter videos are made more so for entertainment and have very little if anything at all you can learn from it. Conversely, the videos you learn something from tend to be longer and more in depth. Lastly shorter videos (mainly shorts) do lower your attention span, its been proven.
Man the way you broke down Letting your body catch up to your arm in the technique was flawless I instantly felt a snappier hook as soon as I did just that. By far the best tutorial video I’ve watched on any subject through my years on UA-cam you’re clearly a master of your craft and a great coach respect and thank you 🙏💪‼️✅
I could just cry with relief. I had so much pain in my shoulder and simultaneously no snap in my hook at all. I listened carefully to your explanation, especially the part about that stretch in the shoulder and after one day of working with it my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore and I can see a path to improvement. Thank you so much for this video! Love the boxing home workouts too.
Mate Ive said it before and Imma say it again , I dont think there’s a boxing channel that teaches people as good as urs. U made me start boxing (kickboxing) and even tho I went to the gym and all that it wasnt it for me but Ive developed smth special with boxing and its cause of u. Thanks again bro
This is so helpful. Love the examples and details. I’m practicing for the VR game Thrill of the Fight 2 coming next week and this is super useful for me. 🎉
Thank! You! I'm just a guy who uses UA-cam as my coach to hit a heavy bag and I had no idea there was that kind of shoulder rotation. Just practiced it again today and it makes a world of difference. EVERYTHING feels more solid. Much appreciated!
What I love about you Coach is that, you not just teach us the techniques but also educate us on the dynamics of boxing and the psychology in detail. Keep making long videos 🔥🔥🔥
I just started learning the hook yesterday and now this morning there's a detailed video on it by the guy I follow. I'm starting to think these happenings aren't just coincidence.
Thank you for this content! Sometimes people try and give me pointers on my hook but it's hard to really get into mechanics during the little gaps between padwork and drilling. I know shorter stuff is probably more attractive in terms of viewership, but the long format is really what I am looking for personally. Thanks again!
Great video. I’ve been boxing for just under a year and I’ve noticed my shoulders are hurting more now because I’m hitting with proper technique and a lot more power. They were hurting when I first started but i got used to that. Like you say it takes a while for your body to adjust. I do the power drill you mentioned (George Foreman) I stand at close range head almost touching the bag with a more squared stance and rip the shots in. Its helped me to remove whipping the arms to deliver the punch.
I've been coaching a buddy of mine who's a beginner. He has a decent right hook, but absolutely struggles with the left hook. This makes so much more sense to me now. Thanks a lot! I'm so gonna steal this. 😄
Many people think that the boxing is all about fist; infact it's all about the body. Great instructions coach. ✌️I got lot of things to learn... always the beginner and always humble. Thanks Mr coach.
Thank you so much for this very clear instruction video! I started going to a high intensity interval training workout that combines heavy bag with floor exercises, which is great fun and rather tough, but it doesn't allow for much time to get the technique right, so I've kind of been swinging all over the place. Thanks to you I hope I can soon go back to those water bags and show them who's the boss!
Great video, i been boxing for some years and i still learned something i didn't know. I like these kind of videos. I don't care how long a video is , the point is to learn something and i liked how you explain it on detail piece by piece. I hope to see more from you like this. Thank you and God bless you and yours
I love to watch all boxing! My wife recently bought an Everlast heavy bag and speed bag, several sets of new hand wraps, and nice 16oz gloves. I’m 48 and looking to get in shape! I’m 215 pounds and I’m starting to develop a dad body due to a lack of working out and working a lot of extra hours at my job. Do you think you could get me back in shape? I boxed as a teenager but haven’t even wrapped my hands in years. I’d be starting at square 1. Tell me what you think please. If you think that you could help me I’d be willing to join your channel without a doubt.
Thank you, Jason! As always, great insight, straight to the point, no-nonsense / no-B/S coaching that is great for beginners and intermediate boxers alike (I can't speak for the advanced ones because I ain't one :). Peace and cheers from Bangkok, Thailand!
Crazy. I was just playing boxing video games with my kid this morning. Tommy Morrison. Hell of a left hook. Was running some drills with this just a few mins ago. The matrix man.
I had trouble with my lead hook, and my coach finally had me do a 1, 2, 3 combo with just my body (arms hugging my chest), and I did the body rotation perfectly. Once I knew how it was supposed to feel it only took a little while to get it perfect with my hands.
Great tutorial. The hook is one of my favourite punches personally. Will defo be implementing your tips to refining my technique. Appreciate this tutorial. Have a good one Coach :)
Great job . I like the contest.Could you make similar one for technique - duck .especially how to connect it with hooks in the most effective way.Thank you
I used to have the deadliest left hook 😢. Its crazy how rusty you can get just being out of practice. Thank you for the in depth breakdown it was much needed
Great tutorial, started MMA one month back and somehow was not able to grasp the technique of hook. Even while hitting and practising this, knew something was off. You broke it down perfectly, thanks for this coach!
I wish this video came out when I started boxing 3 years ago. I started noticing everything you mention now so my hooks look less atrocious. Going to practice more of the pivot and make sure my body moves first before the arm.
Been watching you for the last two years of my career coach, I’m 21, started late and I’ve been told by a few pros that I might have insane potential, I’m gonna be the next Big thing you’ll see🙏🏽💯
Coach u have a wonderful way of making sense I am lucky to have randomly come across your videos. You and your cohorts are like internet gold bless be and cheers.. americanswifty...
the explanation is top notch as usual coach. On your second point about whip i just wanted to say for anyone struggling notice how JT's shoulders change position. That's important. I continue to forget about it and wonder where my power went. i need to get one of your shirts soon bro💯
Best video for the lead hook outhere in youtube, thank you for the great content Coach! I have a question about the rear hooks, can this drills help us with the rear hook as well?
Thank you, yes it can because it all comes down to body rotation. The rear hook is a bit different in that body rotation and foot pivot is a bit more pronounced
Thank you very much for that great video ! 🙏🙏 IMHO, you are the best for understanding and finding the best way to teach those things to people, so that they DO understand where the efficiency of the movement is.
my hooks is really awkward when during the spar. glad i searched this before sleeping so i could try this tomorrow cause tonight my body is still in pain
One of the best tips to get that shoulder snap in left hook is 2 things 1_pull your punch back to first place as fast as possible 2_just grab a ball and throw it over and over you will get that shoulder snap
