Today I share 5 kickboxing combos I find very effective. But I also explain my thoughts on thinking you must use a certain combo at any moment during a fight. Practice combos but don't overcommit to throwing them.

If you need new shinpads head over to www.xmartial.com/?ref=GVARGA
I really like the pair I've been using recently. It took a few sessions for them to mold to my shin but after that they feel great.

I can see the crescent 🌙 or the axe 🪓 just waiting to get rocking 🎸 at the end of the jab, lead hook, cross instead of the round kick and the front kick, front leg knee combo is perfect for it as well depending on where the opponent ends up. I also think that after that lead shovel hook to the body you could question mark ❓ to the head with a low kick feint into a head kick and likely catch someone off guard. I love the 1, 2 3-4 timing on the cross round kick as well and if you get the mechanics down to do any high mid or low kick off of that combo you will have more options off that one combo then most people could learn to deal with. Good luck with the axe 🪓 and crescent 🌙 training I believe in you man, I trust I will see an axe or a crescent knock your opponent out very soon.

    1. combo - jab - cross - hook - rear low kick
    2. jab - cross - left low kick - cross - left high kick
    3. faint jab - cross - left uppercut - cross - switch kick - inside low kick
    4. jab - left hook - faint like cross -> rear head kick
    5. faint like 1-2-1 - front teep - jab while switching - knee boom
Thank you Gabriel for this precious combos.

Sounds like good general practice: Dont practice combos over 5 cuz you are not a fortune teller. And make sure your 1's and 2's and 3's are at least half of your practice.

For just general practice for sure but you can develop combos like that when preparing for a fight. If you have a good coach they will create a specific sequence that takes advantage of their specific tendencies.

Yea those super long combos are mainly for cardio kickboxing, martial artists who don’t fight and may be into acting/film, or those rare experienced fighters who’ve mastered fundamentals after plenty of years and have developed their own style. Generally if you’re a fighter you wanna master the basic combos until it’s pitch perfect

Knees are AMAZING against people that like to keep lunging in for extra punch distance (especially hopping knees) but can be hard to guess when they are going to zoom in.

So basically it seems that the strategy here is to start combos until you see an opening, and then attack that opening: normally it will be where you expect it based on the combo, but sometimes not.

no 1 no 2 and no 4 are fantastic i really like them and simple to drill on the bag they flow together really well and you can switch it up depending on the reaction from the opponent so once learned you can adjust on the fly...
il admit my favorite combo is the one two low kick to mid simple to learn simple to drill and most people go super high guard so plowing the shin in is perfect if you throw it straight after the one two combo with that timing like you spoke of in number 4

Dear Gabriel Varga, you and Jeff Chan from MMA Shredded are my favorite Martial Arts YT instructors along with Kwonkicker. What do do you think about combos that end with kicks on the same side as the last punch you threw? (I.e. a right cross followed by a right RH kick of some sort? Would you mind doing a video on combos that end with kicks on the same side?

6:53 You gotta watch out with doing too many shin checks vs kicks as this can happen too. You block like 4 or 5 kicks and get cocky and the 6th time they pretend they are aiming for your lead leg and as you are raising to check they actually aim for your standing leg ankle and chop your non checking leg down.

Incorporate vertical jabs , lead uppercuts and footwork to get into the T position
The T position gives us the openings we want
Throwing a Cross while slightly ducked down is the most defensive strike available
Train southpaw, especially if you aren't a southpaw because it's easier to switch back to natural stance than the other way around
I like Rob Kaman and Ramon Dekkers style of Kickboxing and they are who I emulate when kickboxing
But in the street I use less Kickboxing because it's riskier
    But I do
I don't really kick for the head often for the same reason
    Just my 2 cents
