I'm 65 and 16 in my mind and heart but my body...not so good these days. I just wanted to thank ya'll for this wonderful trip you so graciously shared with the nature lovers. I used to camp and explore quite a bit. I watch these vlogs and just leave my body and join your experience. It is just heaven to me. Thank ya'll soooo much!!! Xoxo
That”s really good to hear that we could take you with us on the trip! Helping people get away without actually going was one of our goals.
Likewise but aged 70... RAPTURE October 8-9
Weekly obsession with Mark in the Park - looking forward to it.
I'm actually Deborah Parnell...signed in under my husband..the one who shared the outdoors with me and sparked my love for nature. We used to have a primitive houseboat on Cedar creek that you had to take a boat to get to it. That's where I learned about fishing and wildlife. We love learning about medicinal herbs and culinary herbs also. We're in the Mobile, Alabama delta area. Thanks again.
Good to know! Thanks for tuning in Deborah!
Thank you for showing how to properly put out a fire. In season 1 Mark mentioned root fires under fire pits, and low and behold, last summer we had a campsite on Fassett Lake. It actually happened twice. Thankfully we were actually sitting fireside when the burns erupted close by, but imagine if we had gone to bed or gone on a day trip! It seriously drove home how important it is to make sure your fire is COMPLETELY out before you leave it unattended. None of this 'oh it'll burn itself out' or 'it's just a few coals'. We reported the problem to the office at Kiosk and heard some sobering stories about root fires in AP.
Couldn't agree more!
Thanks again guys. Can’t wait till the next one
Great episode guys. Love the footage of the park plane. It looked like a DHC Beaver.
Another great episode!
I wanted to watch all your episodes I ended up missing the second one because I was interested in all the history as well thank you for sharing this type of information to us
Thanks for watching!
Hopefully everyone has been keeping healthy and keeping the mind busy. For now, sit back, relax and disconnect from the current world situation. Check out Mark's website www.markinthepark.com for trip logs and his own guiding service. Special thanks to Algonquin Outfitters, Ontario Parks and Unlostify Maps for their support!
Double-crested cormorant is a native bird to Ontario, it is not an invasive species as noted in this episode (also incorrectly stated in S1).
Whoops! Guess my research back in the day was wrong. Thanks for correcting me!
Matt, Matt how about an Advanced viewing for yours truly 😃
Haha I wish I could! You're going to have to wait until tonight though.
Super miss the intro song from Season 1!
Great video! What knife is Iain using?
It’s an older Buck brand knife. Not sure on what it’s called though. Most likely a hunting knife.
@@MattHaughn thanks! Subscribed, very relaxing to watch these in the city during lockdown :)
Thank you! Great to hear!
We once found 2 full-sized camp chairs and 2 bath SHEETS (the biggest towels I have ever seen!) on a site in Misty Lake. We couldn’t carry them out (we had a broken canoe yoke, 4 kids, blistered feet, and pouring rain on our exit), so I hope someone else has been able to get them out since then. Why did someone bring these IN, let alone leave them?
Wow that’s crazy! Brocken yoke sounds not fun. They bring stuff in because it’s always a good idea at the time
Great show guys! Mark referred to it as *The Park Plane*. Is there only 1?
Good question at which I don't know the answer to. They might have two, one for north and one for south.
@@MattHaughn During camping season, a plane flies over the Park every day looking for fires and/or anyone in trouble.
True!
And any interior tripper should know the universal distress signal as not everyone, including me, takes in one of those in-reach thingy things. Besides taking survival courses, which I have, the universal distress signal in a Park environment would be a large smokey fire along a beach (which would give a plane the wind direction). If hunting, 3 shots in the air. Even 3 blasts of a whistle would do if you become lost.
What do you mean by thunder box
The place you go to the bathroom!
@@MattHaughn after you mentioned thunder box in your clip. I ended up finding another site that actually explained it and showed what it was so I got my answer before you but thank you and how did it become the name thunder box do you know
That’s good! I think it’s either because of the sound the lid makes when it gets closed or where you make thunder noises yourself.
@@MattHaughn yeah I can see that making the sound yourself in a wooden box yeah the whole camp would hear you LOL I'm not sure if I want the whole camp to hear my farts in that box LOL LOL LOL
