  • It's day 4 of the Dexcom G7 week here. Today, I am discussing delay first high. Small feature with huge impact. Let me know what you think in the comments.
    You can learn more about Dexcom G7 here: dexcomevent.com
    Disclosure: I was given 3 sensors as part of UK's limited launch followed by another 3 sensors by Dexcom’s marketing team at their blogger's event in London. Dexcom paid for my train fare and hotel for 1 night to attend their London event in May. I was not paid to make this video.

    Wow, that is neat! Sadly, Abbott seems to be completely ignoring the software side of the Freestyle Libre sensors; the app hasn't received any updates in ages. 😞

      Same here. I hear my husband daily about how dumb the app is for the libre 3. He measures his glucose.... forty seconds later... high or low alarm....and he's like, I JUST measured...can't this thing KNOW that?!
      Seems such a simple thing, doesn't it? Same with the delayed alarms. It should not be that hard.

  • @SwissPGO
    @SwissPGO 2 роки тому +5

    Not enough... if I could write my own software, it would not even launch an alarm if the glucose level is going down and would reach a decent level in 30 minutes or so. Especially when sleeping. Please medtech companies... let us write our own software and interface it with activity monitors, smart watches !!!! Just provide us the data and API interfaces to control the pump, and we'll deal with the rest.

      That one is a good idea as well because sometimes (often actually) the sensor is not giving me proper gucose results and keeps me up the whole night…

      Or xdrip is also open source, there’s a huge wearenotwaiting community who’s writing their own software! G7 hasn’t been fully cracked yet, but G6 yes, and some of the popular pumps like Omnipod Dash, Dana, Medtronic some old ones

    Thanks fo sharing it. It's a great feature. There is no doubt about it. For those who find it helpful. I personally don't think I will use it much my goal is to be in range both before and after meal (regardless what I eat) and when I go out of range I want to know about it ASAP as I probably did not bolus correctly.

    • @albargain77

    • @TypeOneTalks
      @TypeOneTalks 2 роки тому +1

      @@albargain77 I get it. Don’t party too much anymore though:) I think for me it would only make sense in a situation when I can’t prebolus or I don’t manage to wait long enough (eat too early after I bolus) which I try not to do but sometimes life happens. I’d just be careful with overusing this feature as it might cause damage in the long run.

    • @shestopalovasvetlana880
      @shestopalovasvetlana880 2 роки тому

      Agree! But it depends where you put your ‘range’. Spike over 100 is absolutely healthy, but over 200 is not and can be controlled with right pre-bolusing. But maybe if your upper alarm is 130 - it’s fine to be over it after 50 minutes, but after 90 minutes you want it down. And with hybrid Loop you don’t need any high alarms - it’ll correct them automatically (unless it broke/leaked).

    It's not normal if it skyrockets! Insulin and food should be selected for very gentle and small rises for optimum health.

    They should do the same for lows too...i get pré low alarm so i can take some glucose but then i still get the low alarms where i'm just waiting for my stomach to do his job...

    It's a BIG disappointment that wear time is still only 10 days and also no direct to iWatch. I also bet there is no way to restart a device unlike the G6 so the effective pricing has actually gone up. Yes there are rumors that will be improved but the same rumors were there for the G6 and yet we never saw it. I am a long time Dexcom user but the longer wear time and smaller size of the Libre 3 is going to make the decision even harder on which one to choose...

    This is clearly a software feature. They should be able to bring this to G6 as well. My guess is it will stay a G7-only feature.

    This is great !
    What would be perfect for me is to have 2 alarms : one with a lower limit that only sets of after a certain amount of time and a higher one that sets of immediately

    Good feature! Makes it very personal for users.
    Question though, or 2 😅
    1. I Assume it does requires you to enter a meal in the g7 phone app for it to understand that you have actually eaten?
    2. What freaking hcl system are you currently using in combination with the G7? 👀

    Just ordered my G7, but pretty disappointed already. The all new G7 still doesn’t give me the feature to see blood glucose on my Samsung watch 5 (or even on an Apple Watch), even though it’s on the promo videos. They have been promising this for years. How hard can it be ?

    I love the idea of this delayed 1st high alarm’! I have an absolutely unavoidable post-meal spike, and so really ‘get’ what you’re saying about the relief of not getting the pointless alarm, but then knowing that if there’s a second one, you do have to do something about it. I read the other day that people with T1 make 180 more decisions a day than people without T1!
