Ive been diabetic 2 since 1976 and i found to dish up your food on a smaller plate ny slowly downsizing every month little by little. I go out to eat and i eat entres not full meals. Ive lost over 40 kilos and now on smaller quantities of diabetes medicines and off insulin injections for past 6 years. My motto less is best. Drink lots of water because often you think your hungry but you are actually just thirsty.
Eggs are amazing.... Cholesterol is not the issue you have been led to beleive...... Glad you have done research and now realize eggs are good. Good fat is not an issue but transfats is.
Cholesterol is not the problem. Carnivores and Ketovore eat high cholesterol and are very healthy. My dad reversed his diabetes on meat based keto and I reversed my prediabetes on carnivore/Ketovore. It's not the cholesterol that is the problem. It's the sugar and processed foods.
One of my favorite foods is eggs. I recently read that the protein in eggs has a bioavailability rate of over 49%, whereas other sources of protein have between 17 and 33%. Also, eggs have so many nutrients. And I just like them.
Glad I found your channel, thank you. I have been diagnosed with ischaemic heart disease and the early stages of heart failure, post bypass surgery. Recent blood test showed my cholesterol spiked at three times the level it was a year ago very likely to be stress related. I'm seeking a test for triglycerides and cortisol (a deadly combination with high LDL cholesterol). In the same test I showed one point above the pre diabetes threshold. I could feel something wrong with both legs feeling like they were burning when resting. Walking vigorously for 8-10 miles a day has helped with this and now I am researching how to keep blood sugar levels as low as possible to prevent future problems arising. Stay well and thanks for reading ✌️
Hello, my diabetes (type 1) was detected for the first time two months ago (in age of 32). First weeks was difficult, but your channel and many videos helped me a lot (with food, technologies etc.). Thank you for your great work and keep going. Wish you all the best! Greetings from Czech republic. :-)
@@LemonsCure Yeah, I was really thirsty and drank more than 5l every day. And of course, I was constantly going to the to the toilet. I had a huge craving for anything sweet. At the beginning I thought it was caused by stress, because last weeks was extremely hard at work, but after two weeks I went to blood tests and the day after the results came, I was hospitalized because my blood sugar values was so high, it was almost a certainty that I had diabetes.
Several of these fruits and veggies are high in Anti-nutrients, specifically:. Lectins, Alkaloids, and Oxylates. Individuals with Autoimmune conditions and diseases have to calculate with those factors in mind, also. (The plant kingdom is plagued with problems.)
In Australia we call bell peppers, capsicum,….. also does it matter if you use black or white chia seeds ? …… I love all of these foods especially berries, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, zucchini, avocado and berries
Wonderful video … now I’m hungry for Picco and avocado. …. I had a Labrador retriever… I made her overweight , fed her kibble (all trash ). I did wise up and. Tested her 3 times every 24 hours . Garbonzo beans (chickpeas) cooked /only whole regulated her reading , miracle . Daily sardines got her iSight back in 3 months (no surgery needed) , sweet potatoes did not mess her reading up . .. . Pumpkin and sweet potato should be in larger chunks and in stews … if “baked” is will be double the spike … still not bad though . I don’t have diabetes and I’ll be sure to follow this video’s recommendations. Important video
Thanks for the video. One thing you might look into is rice. Rice with lentils is a very common dish in many cultures and it has an amino acid profile similar to meat. Some types of rice, like Basmati, have a lower glycemic index compared to other types of rice and you can take that one step further by getting brown basmati. A small amount of rice added to lentils will also make you feel full and satisfied after eating. Grapefruit, raspberries/blackberries, goji berries, coconut, guava, avocado, pumpkin, zucchini, bell pepper, potatoes, brocolli, garlic, black beans (and lentils in general), spinach, maca root, and chia seeds.
Potatoes and rice are a "no go" food for diabetic type 2 and people suffering from obesity. I dropped the weight and addiction to food and I lowered my blood sugar by quitting them.
I have learned more from you than my own doctors. Im a type 1 diabetic myself and i also eat plant based whole foods and lean meats. All of the items you have mentioned are foods i like and have tried. Thank you for being a good source for diabetics. I find that diabetics can help diabetics better than doctors who learn about it Nd it all comes down to personal experience. Ciao 😏👍
The article "25 SuperfoodsThe article "25 Superfoods That Fixed My Diabetes" is absolutely inspiring! It's amazing to see how incorporating nutrient-dense foods can have such a positive impact on managing and even reversing diabetes. The list of superfoods is both informative and practical, offering a wide range of options for anyone looking to improve their health through diet. I appreciate the personal touch and real-life experience shared in the article-it makes it even more relatable and motivating. This is a great resource for anyone looking to take control of their health in a natural and holistic way. Thank you for sharing these valuable tips!
Also Beter by far then almond milk is coconut milk, these are very easily made at home rather then the highly processed ones which can be bought. I use only Coconut Milk for many years now and find that I enjoy making is myself. Far far better then the heavily processed.
Awesome video on diabetes and pre diabetes. I’m dealing with pre diabetes and always looking for advice on how to improve and manage. Thanks for sharing.
I would love for you to investigate Indian, bitter melon. It is an amazing fruit loaded with folate. It actually helps to control and balance. The sugar levels keeps the kidneys in the liver clean. It is bitter so it’s best to make it with a smoothie some strawberries, almond milk, and a couple packets of Stevia drink it every night or twice a day. Look into this you’ll love it. Also, thank you for all the information I love watching your videos.
Is Calling "Berries" a fruit something which is a Cultural Difference? I have never thought of berries and a "fruit,." I only eat berries as most every fruit has been Genetically altered to contain a much higher glucose level. I have found that every fruit produces a glucose spike which takes me complexly above my max glucose levels. I can get greater amount of antioxidants and vitamin "C" from Rooibos tea or just sprinkled on many different food. There are many other berries and additives such a Pine Needles (without the sap" which contain far greater amounts of these substances. In short after 70 years Type One Diabetic, I no longer ear fruits at all. (Goji berries are FANTASTIC) Great overall suggestion for all people. I love your presentations and really support every suggestion you make. Thank you so very much for your hard work and truthful content.
Berries are fruit, tomatoes are fruit, cucumber is fruit, I mean pineapples are berries and that’s a fruit. (We have been lied to most of our lives). Watermelon is ok with diabetes I’ve heard…
If you eat low carb higher fat your body will not be very insulin sensitive so fruit & carbs will spike your blood sugar. I was ‘afraid’ of fruit for a long time, however, Low Carb Keto eventually drove my insulin resistance into orbit (& not even heaps of insulin could get it down - it was scary). & my digestion refused to deal with animal protein any longer so I had no option but to go whole food plant based (WFPB). Whilst my BG stayed high for the first month as my body cleared out the ectopic fat, around the end of the month my blood sugar dropped, my insulin sensitivity returned & I had to cut my insulin intake by more than half (50+ units to 20 or less per day). For me, it’s the fats that drive my IR. The less fat/oil I consume, the more sensitive my body is.
Thanks for your videos!😊 Sometimes it’s good to get this kind of information from someone who understands from experience like their audience. You’re great at explaining which makes this information user friendly.
I love your videos even I am not diabetic but I am 64 and not bad health, food I am counting what to eat that’s why I benefit a lot from your advices. God bless you .🙏🙏🙏🙏from Amal , uk
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this video. Diabetes affects a lot of things about a person including his or her libido. Again, all that you have elaborated on I really appreciated.
I love guava eat it in season. But didn't help me with my Diabetic type 2 . well actually I did tried a lot of things to help my diabetes and exercise eat brown rice not much, and take medicine. Thanks for information!

I speak Spanish but you speak so slow and good that i can understand almost all that you said. My favorite fruit is GUAVA. Guayaba de Cuba. ❤ I don't eat the seed. I don't like it because is too sweet for me i like when are a little green.
I enjoy all types of berries, and eating them plain has helped my health improve. You didn’t mention blueberries and strawberries. We can enjoy both with portion control.

Thank you so much for going through each of the food groups, fruits, vegetables, breads, etc and breaking down the various properties of each. The graphs of how each affected your blood sugar was also helpful as was putting them in the three best/good/not so good categories. This is exactly what I have been looking for as other sites can be very wordy and confusing. Kudos to you!
Zucchini/courgettes can be ground and made into a rice alternative or a porridge/oatmeal when cooked with ground flaxseed, ground chia, hemp hearts and psyllium husk
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONESTY regarding eggs. And I am proud I figured you were Swiss in spite of your perfect English. Ich werden Swizterdeutch lernen! Bayerisch ist gaudi aber Swiss Deutch is REALLY fun. I am just starting with high blood sugar and your site was so informative! Thank you. Vielen Dank! Grazi mille.
I just found your channel, so grateful ♡. According to the numbers I don't have any (pre) diabetes, but my body still feels and reacts like it does, so frustrating. It's also getting worse as I am entering perimenopause. But what I actually wanted to say is that surprisingly my body has shown to be naturally happiest with your list of foods on your channel. It took me a lot of years of trials and errors to find what works best with my body. I wonder if I am (pre) diabetic anyway, even though the numbers don't show. Thank you again for your channel ❤
I really like all of your content. I recently realized after typical symptoms and using a glucose meter that I am pre-diabetic. Following your advice on which foods to eat I have seen remarkable improvement in just a few days. I can't thank you enough for helping me with my health and avoiding more serious issues. I always thought of myself as a relatively healthy eater but I was eating the wrong fruits and veggies. All of your advice is 100% spot on and uses a ton of common sense which makes it easy to follow.
you are super gifted and it's a pleasure just hearing you and seeing your amazing foods ❤...thank you for sharing loads of useful information not just for diabetics:)
What an excellent and eye-opening point you bring up about the caffeine in my coffee and it's connection to blood sugar spikes when I had had nothing but black coffee prior to testing my blood sugar and yet my blood sugar had spiked. Mystery solved! My endocrinologist didn't even think of that, and I had made my confusion about the no carb ingested spike in my blood sugar known! She responded with saying there was a " no reason known, as yet", lol! She is an excellent doctor, and the way our conversation had been going, it was an instance of she just didn't really think on it in that moment. I can guarantee she was slappin' her forehead later as she mulled over our conversation! Anyway, thank you again for the enlightenment.
I still eat eggs. The fat is okay in eggs, eggs, have lecithin, which help to keep the fats in solution, and remember with cholesterol. If you eat more, your body will make less.
Many diabetics are also taking statins: you need to limit grapefruit when on certain statins - they inhibit the enzyme (CYP3A) required to metabolize the statins
Thank you for this one! It is extremely helpful. I’d love you to talk about eggplants. For some crazy reason it seems to drop my sugars incredibly fast. I usually do not take a meal bolus when eating it (aubergine=eggplant).
BTW, there’s a lot more information out there regarding protein such as what is in grass fed beef. And also about cholesterol. Really good to catch up on these things. There are actually some doctors on UA-cam who are Nephrologist, and cardiologist who do discuss this. It’s very interesting. Quality of your food and the amount. It does make a difference. Huge difference. I’m not a fan of steak or red meat much. So I can’t address it with complete personal knowledge.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and increasing insulin sensitivity was a game changer for me. Suddenly managing stable glucose levels during the day became super easy, almost no effort at all. Insulin sensitivity can be increased by paying attention to following: - get enough sleep, - exercise - active muscles can improve the insulin sensitivity a lot, - get in shape - being overweight increases insulin resistance, - chronic inflammation - you need to treat the rootcause, - diet: limit the saturated fat intake as it has been proved to increase the insulin resistance more than unsaturated fats. Just be mindful about it. - diet: never eat high carb and high fat within the same meal (or do it on occassions only). Choose the meal to be either high carb and low fat OR low carb and high fat - and just rotate as you wish during the day/week. - diet: eat whole foods - fiber makes a lot of difference, avoid bad processed foods to minimum once you get insulin sensitive, you will be able to decrease the insulin doses and enjoy the carbohydrates without stressing about how high it will spike your glucose levels. Also staying active during the day - you won't have to worry about rapid hypoglycemia. I was shocked about the difference it makes, and also that most of the doctors have no idea about that.
Do you have a recipe link for the special salad you mentioned please? Or can you list the ingredients in grams in the description box below the video please 🙏
I make beans in my crock with dry oats and oregano with mint leaves. Every night before I sleep, I ad raw garlic and coconut in it even though I cooked the beans in olive oil.

Pomegranate is good for Diabetics also Scallions or Spring Onions . Beetroots too.
Garlic is awesome too but beetroot has a lot of sugar
Oh my God !!!! How can you even forget OKRA ??? I have been eating it for 2 days it does wonders .

I figured it just recently! It is a wonder!

Eggs are amazing.... Cholesterol is not the issue you have been led to beleive...... Glad you have done research and now realize eggs are good. Good fat is not an issue but transfats is.
I eat eggs, only the white part
no yoke, the yolk cause carolestorol issues for me.
Yes everyone is different
Cholesterol is not the problem. Carnivores and Ketovore eat high cholesterol and are very healthy. My dad reversed his diabetes on meat based keto and I reversed my prediabetes on carnivore/Ketovore. It's not the cholesterol that is the problem. It's the sugar and processed foods.
you are better than most doctors
True facts.
Certainly better than my endo!
One of my favorite foods is eggs. I recently read that the protein in eggs has a bioavailability rate of over 49%, whereas other sources of protein have between 17 and 33%. Also, eggs have so many nutrients. And I just like them.
I am prediabetic, but your insights are very helpful!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Wishing you all the best!
Did you have any symptoms or was it a regular/random blood test?
@@LemonsCure Yeah, I was really thirsty and drank more than 5l every day. And of course, I was constantly going to the to the toilet. I had a huge craving for anything sweet. At the beginning I thought it was caused by stress, because last weeks was extremely hard at work, but after two weeks I went to blood tests and the day after the results came, I was hospitalized because my blood sugar values was so high, it was almost a certainty that I had diabetes.
It’s called LADA. I was misdiagnosed for 5 years.

Several of these fruits and veggies are high in Anti-nutrients, specifically:. Lectins, Alkaloids, and Oxylates.
Individuals with Autoimmune conditions and diseases have to calculate with those factors in mind, also.
(The plant kingdom is plagued with problems.)
Which ones? Can you elaborate please?

It's scary how little we know about the food we eat.

In Australia we call bell peppers, capsicum,….. also does it matter if you use black or white chia seeds ? …… I love all of these foods especially berries, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, zucchini, avocado and berries
Wendy, same here!
Blueberries?
Potatoes and rice are a "no go" food for diabetic type 2 and people suffering from obesity. I dropped the weight and addiction to food and I lowered my blood sugar by quitting them.
@@isabellegiorgis2975 It's not the potatoes bit what ppl put on them, butter, sour cream, etc.
Looking at the labels in a bulk food store I read, basmati is brown rice.

I love grapefruit as soon as I am done my Tamoxifen drug regiment. I am doing this! I love it sour, no sugar needed BUT I can do the berries now
I would love for you to investigate Indian, bitter melon.
Try this amazing salad: red grapefruit segments, prawns or crab, avocado, mayonnaise!! Thanks for your tips !
Thanks for your videos!😊
Sometimes it’s good to get this kind of information from someone who understands from experience like their audience. You’re great at explaining which makes this information user friendly.

Coffee with creamer spikes my sugar only 2 points in Switzerland in Afrika/Kenya not at all.
30 grams of carbs is what I measure daily for coffee with cream.
Yes it does lower blood sugar spike. It also can be called a superfood.

I'm a type 1 diabetic and increasing insulin sensitivity was a game changer for me. Suddenly managing stable glucose levels during the day became super easy, almost no effort at all.
Insulin sensitivity can be increased by paying attention to following:
- get enough sleep,
- exercise - active muscles can improve the insulin sensitivity a lot,
- get in shape - being overweight increases insulin resistance,
- chronic inflammation - you need to treat the rootcause,
- diet: limit the saturated fat intake as it has been proved to increase the insulin resistance more than unsaturated fats. Just be mindful about it.
- diet: never eat high carb and high fat within the same meal (or do it on occassions only). Choose the meal to be either high carb and low fat OR low carb and high fat - and just rotate as you wish during the day/week.
- diet: eat whole foods - fiber makes a lot of difference, avoid bad processed foods to minimum
once you get insulin sensitive, you will be able to decrease the insulin doses and enjoy the carbohydrates without stressing about how high it will spike your glucose levels.
