    Completely agree about the pump redesign. I remember with my 530G, I’d just grab it on my waistline without actually taking it off. Because it was horizontal it was easy enough to see from the side. With the 670G, I hear so many people complain because it’s “upside down” whilst on your body with the clip. It’s also just bulky in my opinion. I also loved the “bolus” button on the 530G. Not exactly sure if they have that on the new ones, but it made bolusing pretty quick! I think Medtronic thought they had the design locked in and perfect with their 600 series, when, in reality a lot of people liked the previous designs better!

      Thanks Maddie! Very good point about the horizon orientation. Thanks for sharing that

      Agreed, upside down is ridiculous - how did this design flaw pass?! I don't need people looking at me to be able to read it, I NEED TO!! LOL. And of course, too many button clicks for everything.

    Hi' looking at this video here in France, I glance at my Samsung S3 Watch linked to my last year's Note mobile, BS 7.7 up 0.2, bpm 58 & only 1058 steps since it was wet here! Using Dex G6 & G-Watch app. Extra 1.75 iu of Fiasp using Omnipod PDO. Nothing here to tempt me to change anything yet. Ditched iPhone some years ago when there was then no Libre app although there is now of course. Rumours of new Samsung Watches with glucose monitors-believe it when I see it! Thank you again for your tech updates & love the developments that make my diabetes the easiest it has been in 56 years. Apologies if TMI.

    I am hoping Medtronic doesn't go full touch screen. Yes it looks shiny and sleek but like all touch screen devices they break easily. My pump does occasionally fall out of my PJs and hit the floor. The medtronnic one never breaks. The Tandem one I cannot promise that.

    • @Nerdabetic
      @Nerdabetic  2 роки тому +1

      That’s actually a very valid point! But don’t you think touchscreens in 2021 are using advanced glass which protects this? Really curious to hear your thoughts

    • @dynomite1988
      @dynomite1988 2 роки тому

      @@Nerdabetic you would think so but unfortunately no. Try to drop your phone a few times on hardwood floor. Not carpet. See how many times it takes to break. Tandem uses the same glass as smartphones. (Gorilla glass). I have had smartphones with that glass break.
      I was talking to a nurse who said a 4 year old had the tandem pump. 4 days later the glass broke. If Medtronic does this I would like to see a durable case like an otter box.

    Another reminder is a new feature they are proud of? I am pretty desensitized from all of my pump alerts already, so that's a little underwhelming but OK Medtronic. Haha I am excited to see how/if they will integrate food (other macros like protein and fat perhaps) and exercise tracking from that app though.

    Omnipod 5 is now with the FDA. ETA when being released? Are there any issues with insulin absorption with Omnipod? Some people are complaining on UA-cam about the Cannula.

    I use a tandem, I was used two previous Medtronic pumps, I started to use Dexcom liked there CGMs better then Medtronic so with new ones the are coming from Medtronic will be similar to Dexcom which is, u are right I like recharging my Tandem then buying batteries all the time and like having touch screen on Tandem. U didn’t go in detail with the 10 day infusion sets, but that’s something I might switch back to Medtronic for, hopefully Tandem can work out an agreement with Medtronic or working on their own version of longer use infusion sets

      I preferred batteries. U can carry a spare where ever you go and no worries about the cable or charger causing errors - you might not know of this if it hasn't happened to you. Travelling is also easier. Patents in the medical industry should be abolished

    what I don't see in the "pipe", is to connect to google fit/health data to get heartrate and steps live info, which seems to me priority to know when basal needs to be lowered. I agree with you that the pump design should be upgraded too. I don't need such a big and heavy device, no need for AA battery 🔋 , a 1/3 size would be enough, with external magnetic charging like the miaomaio would be enough, also i only consume 130u in 3 days, so I would rather continue changing my tube and reservoir every 3 days, but get a slimmer & lighter pump !!!
    what s missing too, is the timeline (and approval delays)... it could be in 6 months or 6 years, and as some already say : wearenotwaiting !!!
    thanks for your great work :)

  • @SwissPGO

    They are really improving, but the pipe-line is too slow - this is due to regulatory requirements (my spouse works in medical device regAffairs). If they would provide open API's (Application Programming Interfaces) any programmer could develop location based and activity based insulin control systems and tweek his own parameters. It's sad this now restricted to big commercial companies.

    Yes their guardian sensor 3 is crap the amount of sleep I have lost because the stupid thing wants another calibration and its such a bother to get on doing it one handed because you decide to wear it on your arm.
    An update to the pump is desperately need. Chargeable would be awesome.....smaller!! But I actually prefer no touch screen. They don't break as easily, don't burn through charge nearly as fast and I think are way more reliable. Besides if they interact with your phone anyone who wants the touch screen experience can just use their phone. I like the reliability of something that rarely needs to be charged and u can buy rechargeable batteries probably something I should do.
    It's just way to bulky and I miss being able to wear dresses!! I don't know where to put that chunky thing. I'm sick of seeing it to be honest and even with all the improvements coming I agree it's the pump itself that will stop me from getting it again.

    OMG! Finally Medtronic is joining the modern world?! 🙈🙈
    Way, way, way overdue!!!!
    Finally their CGM is much more streamlined. I feel like the Libre has revolutionised CGMS as we now see that both Dexcom and Medtronic are following lead.
    I also agree, the Medtronic pumps need a new design (so do many others to be fair!).
    I understand that they are medical devices, but us diabetics require more! Better designs, more in line with today’s needs. Yes to touchscreen, yes to recharging instead of wasting batteries upon batteries and the terror if you run out of them and you don’t have any! You have more chances of plugging your charger in almost anywhere nowadays rather than finding a good battery!
    Also, I would love a less bulky design. These pumps are THICK and very inconvenient if you want to “hide” them they bulge through your clothing and look all weird!
    Anyways.. exciting times… Thank you Kamil

    It is so frustrating that with all new features it takes so long before they are
    lounched. This video is a year old and still no news about the possibility to bolus with your phone. I hate it to look for the pump in my underwear everytime. Would like to know when they expect to have that function life.

  • @LarryMartin1956

    I know I am old as hell but you have the pump on you all of the time. Why do you need your phone to do anything with your pump? Make the pump work better and use your phone for what phones are used for currently, updating your Facebook/Instagram status!! When the pump keeps us all 95%+ in range, then think about phones doing the same thing the pump already does.
