Should you Buy A Toyota Supra

- The Toyota Supra is an incredible car that definitely made waves when it came by with its 5th generation. Now sure, it's not a 2JZ, and you may need to handle some BMW jokes BUT, does that mean it's not a fantastic tuner car? Let's talk about it...

I do what I can with what I know :p
PS sub so I can make more people uncomfy with my analogies.

Yeah that intro got us stuck 🤣🤣🤣 like wait what TF is this guy about to say 🤣 it's gotta be good 😂
It’s Also kinda kiddish idk
I’m glad a lot of people don’t like it made it a lot easier to order mine 😅
Right?! Like thank you for not making them marked up to the moon. I enjoy my 600hp bolt on car
Nice BMW guys

95% of the people who hate on it will never get near a 50k car in their lives. Not sure why people wouldnt rather toyota work with other companies than not put out the car at all (which is the only other way it would go.) much rather the car exist and be a bmw than not exist at all, and this is from a toyota lover and bmw hater
@@UA-camduude Not a bmw hater here but definitely havent been a big fan in the past (except for older models). I dont get why people are so upset about it. Its a really good engine in a really well designed car. It would just be absolutely stupid from toyota to invest all the cost into a new engine rather than partnering with bmw and taking a really well designed engine and powertrain (ofc there are more bmw parts)
I seriously don't understand how a car that everyone talks shit about (despite being an amazing looking and performing car imo) is still 25% over msrp with like 15k miles on it
Free money will do that to an industry hahaha
I just bought a used 2022 3.0 premium with low miles for $53k
People who seriously hate these cars for being bmws are typically under 16 and ride a bike
@@Dragon228833 i dont like it because its like taking a beautiful concept and shitting on it, its bullshit as it pretty much showed how lazy Toyota are and little they car about the supra (you know a halo being outdone by the same company that made it, no manual, sub 500hp, and a god awful design), it doesn’t help that bmw made a beautiful I6 and made sure that the germans where the only ones to get it, bad wind reduction and a meh engine
@@tiashadrows3469 sounds like you want an rcf. Toyota partnered with the company that makes the best inline 6 on the market right now and made an amazing sports car. 380 horsepower is more than enough and the b58 can handle 800hp on an unopened engine. If Toyota manufactured the b58 under a different name with the exact same design no one would be complaining
I've driven manuals for over 20 years, and I've got to say that automatics have improved by a lot. Automatics used to be boring back in 2010 because there were delays on shifts when you hit the paddle shifters. Now they are fast to the point where there's almost no delays in shifting.
It's not worth buying
- The guy with $250 in his bank account
Send over that 250 young blood
Wait aren’t these like $35-40k MSRP
@@Fee.1 lol no
@@gatorplaymaker4280 what was the launch MSRP
They want 75k for a manual Supra 😢
I’ve seen a couple for 60k
Just come to Hawaii my guy. They’re at MSRP
Why manual is more expensive?
@@astkh4381 because something like 96% of Americans cant drive manual anymore, and automatics come standard. Manuals are the option.
@@beezowdoodoozoppitybopbopb9488 Very true indeed. 96% of American’s also don’t posses the discipline, common sense, or skill level to drive a manual. America is a microwave society that also seek the easy way out unfortunately. Hence why the US is a joke to most people around the world. This is coming from an American who thinks outside the box.
In my area GR supras are going for exactly 50k rn considering I paid 25k for a used ford fusion sport a few years back it’s definitely a good deal, definitely going to cop one when I graduate college.
I hate the fusion, but everyone sleeps on the sport
@@edg5312 it’s definitely a fun car for the aspects of surprise, most people don’t know about it, even “car guys” would try and tell me that fusion never made a twin turbo V6. My favorite part is when people try to teach me lessons on the street but won’t roll down their window to talk when they finally catches up to me at a light 😂
2020s around my area with les than 20k miles go for 48k-50k so not that bad here in florida
Just saw one today a 2022 with 8k miles going for $47,500
I wonder why most modern cars aren't flex fuel
As Mr. Crabs said. "Money."
Ethanol taxes the Fuel pump, your gas mileage gets cut in Half and you shouldn't run it in winter.
Because the average driver doesn't want 25 - 30% worse fuel economy. Companies that offered flex fuel compatible vehicles found that a very small percentage of customers were actually using E85 or ethanol blends, so most just scrapped the feature. Added costs to make the vehicle ethanol compatible wasn't justified
@@vxsr33 I gotta wonder did flex fuel help auto manufactures with CAFE standards. The whole reason the Mach E exists is because Ford needed environmental credits.
Because the US is every other countries bitch and we need to keep buying fuel, even tho we grow enough corn to fuel every single Americans car and still export corn while also still feeding every American. Politics is the short answer
Rather buy the Supra than a 400z
I rather buy a sienna😂
I love the mk5. From the looks to the bmw interior. Especially that b58. That things a cheat code
Just picked up my MT a week ago, the best car for the money hands down.
Wish I could afford one lol. But my GR86 will suffice
@@vcrazy_diamond wanna know a little secret? get a 2017 BMW m240i manual or if you fancy an LCI model (usually more expensive but worth it) get the 2018, same power plant, less moola, you can find them in the low 30's.
@@vcrazy_diamond you’ll get there! Hard work and patience. GR86 is no joke, I’d still argue my ‘93 NA Miata is more fun than the Supie. If you’re about the sensation of driving more than speed that’s a fantastic car.
What? You can get a zl1 1le and gap tf outta this car and still have money left over lol
@@Ezvy if I cared about being the fastest in a straight line I wouldn’t have bought this or a ZL1. Even if I cared about being the fastest around the track I wouldn’t have bought the supra. I don’t equate my ego to my 1/4 mile trap speed or lap time. As an experience, the 6MT Supra is far superior car to most.
so worth it!!
had a bad experience understeering into a corner a long time ago in a bmw 3 series so I was never really comfortable on the entrance. well the mkv has given me my confidence back. the feedback you get is incredible . u can really feel what the car is doing and how much the front end can handle. thank you toyota and bmw.
6 speed transmission available this year in my country for around 70k
i cant believe somebody actually got my keycap set. its the first time i see it in the wild. its awesome
I got the a91 mt edition in November last year. Some car to drive with the manual
I enjoy my auto a91 edition, I think 8speed is done well
People be hatin to much imo! If it wasnt a Toyota x bmw collab it wouldnt exist. So be happy there is a mk5 and make the most of it because there most probably wont be another one after this.
Why does the supra get so much flack but the gr/gt86 doesn’t aswell?
Also 60k isnt that bad when i see old supras going for 40-50k lightly modified
It's also worth noting, that Toyota and BMW had equal share in creating platform for both A90 and new Z4, so to claim A90 is "Supra badged BMW" is really fuckin' stupid. But haters gotta hate
@@motor_craft That's false. Except for the body shell design and some suspension tuning, Toyota wasn't involved with the Supra. The chassis, underpinnings, powertrain, everything else is BMW. It's literally built by Magna Steyr in Austria alongside the Z4.
GR86 doesnt get any flak because the car was a genuine design cooperation between Toyota and Subaru.
The Mk 5 Supra is just a rebadged BMW with BMW bin parts with new body panels. If I wanted to buy a BMW I would buy one, I don't want a fake Toyota.
I like both cars, but it did take me a while to warm up to the Supra. The new 86 was actually a collaboration. Toyota's direct+port injection was added to the engine and you can even see Toyota's cruise control stick on the 1st gen. For the Supra, Toyota basically built a car with BMW parts bin with even the infotainment to the seat controls all being BMW, but that's not a bad thing. You're getting a dedicated sports car with a great B58 engine for an attainable cost. Would be nice to see some more Toyota touches, but if you ignore the branding and who did what, it's an incredible value
@@sonydominates it's was the reasons you mentioned that changed my opinion on the car, and the new 6 speed MT has me sold, of course, that is if I could afford one rn.
One of my homies has one of these beauties kitted out. Dudes taken it from Cali to Canada and back and surprisingly he's tempted to fo even harder with the mods
Bought mine mid pandemic for msrp I can’t wait to get my k&w 4LS system in so I can throw this varis kit and carbon fiber roof on this season is going to be a fun one 😊
I'm already seeing a couple of used Zupras for under 60k. Damn, the economy is even keeping the kids who love high interest rates from buying it unless they're willing to stay at their parents house.
The GR versions are approx 35k in the UK currently, manual boxes too…seriously tempted, that B58 engine can take some punishment.
I love how you can add a 3rd pedal to this automatic to do clutch kicks and stuff. (LZ is doing it right now)
rented a 2021 and it was fun to driveand felt special, was really odd though that it didnt have wireless android auto/carplay when my wifes 2017 chevy already had wired android auto/carplay...
Actually there are manuals on the market now. I know somebody that paid 10k over for one 🤦♂️
great reaction and insight man , u seem very intelligent and aware and i feel like that might hav a significant correlation to ur depression , 2 real for this world is actually a perfect way to put it

The main problem with the car is that it’s a BMW
Get a 21- (2021 or older if applicable) get a B58 to ur favorite manual transmission bell housing adapter(that can handle the power you need to make to go however fast u want) have someone installate the manualizer.
22+ have locked ECUs.

Damn 60 k you could get a really clean c7
This ^^^ 1,000 times over
I bought a C7 Z06 for 60k, which is proooobably a bit faster than the supra AND comes with a tremec manual
Not a single new sports car has ever been "worth it". There will ALWAYS be a used car especially vettes that are "more worth" than a new car.
But people buy new because they want the reliability, predictability, etc.
You can get a 6inline now for under MSRP 👍🏼
toyoda's interiors are pretty cool if u ask me
Why not get a m340i for that price. Pretty much the same car except one is a seden. Or even the m240i for a coupe model
I think the Supra looks a bit better; different chassis that's more tuned for track, and probably the lineage of the name. WHy would you pick the M340 instead?
@@AlexMartini. because he just wants to hate on the supra, some ppl are bias
I hate when ppl say that smh it’s a good car with an amazing motor (b58🔥)
60k is way too much money. You could damn near buy a Z06 for that money and already have 600+hp off rip
Ill get a BMW M2 same engine and you get manual.
Honestly having a Toyota Supra is worth everything 4 or 6 cylinder they are fun a great cars I have a 3.0 it’s stock and it’s fun not super fast but fun and quick and I have a friend that has a 2.0 he has a downpipe,E30 blend, intake, and tune and he can gap me pretty good on a 40-100 roll the 4 cylinder is a lot lighter too so that’s what helps ! Soon I will get a jb4 and downpipe and you can easy get 100 more hp out of just those mods ! Ethanol and a pure 800 turbo easy get to 500+whp up to 600hp even
Not sure why everyone hates the new model of supra if they released a Supra MK6 and it was just the MK4 in a more modern and sharper panel style people would call it lazy
Auto only… You can keep it Toyobeemerota
Bro 4 cylinder Supras cost about 200.000 usd in my country 60.000 is a steal here
Does the automatic have paddle shifters at least?
I’ll just wait for the m2
The new one? What do you think of the styling?
@@AlexMartini. don’t even mention it lol

Ima probably buy a US 2023 manual one in like 5 years 💀👍🏼
If u just buying a Supra in automatic is fun not fast but perfect modern JDM car 👍
Am not gonna force u to buy a Supra Mk5 bc is ur choose opinion 😁
Get a 440i or 340i same engine n looks better🤷
Mk4 supra for 80k - ah perfect 20 yr old car
75k for a80 - ewww a better, 20 year newer supra is 75k? That's bad.
60k used? No thanks, I’m getting a 2023 Elantra hybrid and saving for a 911 😂
I like Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati and Jaguar, not a BMW Z4 lol
Thats my dream car
they had a manual supra at a Toyota dealership inside a mall, I asked to sit in it but someone had already bought it, so I couldn't, whoever bought it is one lucky guy
3.0 Supras in Washington are mid 40s rn
60k, is c7 zo6, Gt500, c8 and even some Porsches. If I want BmW at that price, I would just an M5 or m3 CS
There are a lot of gr Supras with the inline 6 for under 50k on Autotrader
They make 4 cylinder Supra’s? Oh boy…
What Do You @AlexMartini Thing Is Mk5 Better than Mk4
Manual transmission or skip. Currently in the market for a 992 or 991.2 Porsche. Every time I find one that’s in my price range it’s an automatic so I skip.
This is your dream car make it count
I was gonna get one but after hearing about these issues i instead purchased a 2010 v6 chrysler 300 with noisy suspension and a ticking noise in the engine
I’d rather have a 5.0 for that money gawd dayum
not everyone likes ugly american muscle cars
They’re are some in my area going for 40k after highschool with a trade in and a downpayment would it be worth buying on of these cash?
careful with >some< of the 2021 and 2022s... they burn oil BADLY
Do they know why? Haven't heard anything too out of pocked with it.
@@AlexMartini. oil slipping past valve seals, something with the 2021+ piston design changes. not sure if its the seal themselves, but the few fixes I read on the forums were pretty expensive (esp if cylinder scoring results). part of the problem is theres no dipstick on the car, just the ECU reading oil. even if you manually run the oil level scan, it'll show full every day until the next day it says add 1 quart (it doesnt actually give you an incremental reading- basically 0/1 output). mine was burning a full quart in 700-1000 miles before i got rid of it. Toyota released the TSB about a year after I reported it and was fighting with corporate about it (3 dealers wouldnt do anything about it and didn't want to touch it because its a BMW)
@@AlexMartini. oh they're just picking up their bmw heritage is all.
@@sly9263 You mean piston rings? Because I don't know what you mean by "valve seals" and oil doesn't reach the valves.
GR86 x Subaru vs supra x bmw
Is it worth it reliability wise? Also I am of 1,87cm and 100kg would I fit with easy?
Real good question is if you’re in my position where you live in California…should you get a supra here where you can’t do any of those illegal mods that will bring it to 500 or should you go with a BMW M2, which is in the same price bracket and will destroy this car with a whopping 460hp to the wheels (dyno tested) stock without having to do any of those non compliant mods and still have warranty 🙄🤔 I hate California strict laws.
It's a good looking and fast car, but I wouldn't want one because of all the incoming repair costs when those BMW parts start failing at around 75k to 100k miles in typical German fashion.
If manuals are going for 75k at that point get a BMW or a Mk4
Maybe even an R8
Just get an m240i
Intakes don’t increase HP on this platform. It’s been proven time and time again. All that is needed is a Flex tune with downpipe and your seeing 500 at the wheels or really close to it.
Had to replay that beginning to make sure I wasn’t tweaking. What the fuck does that even mean? “The sun shines on a dogs ass sometimes”
If could buy. Id buy the mk3 with 1jz. Its much like boxy(er) like much more retro looking
I got mine at 52k + tax. So far I've put tint and a borla exhaust. Black is by far the best color unless you wanna pay 80k for the a91
Didn’t they produce the manual after 2023????
Yes get it
Manual supras are out now
I ended up getting a used LC500 for the same price I couldve gotten a supra… naturally aspirated japanese V8

i want a manual mk5 but them shits too damn much soooo guess imma get a mustang
After years of me showing hate to this car on the internet seems like I’m going to buy it 😅 forget about the old Supra, think is this car as a ride of a unique name, best engine ever built by bmw in a very sporty design made by Toyota this car I would call it the most reliable sport car ever, even more than the 340 or any M car has the same b58 engine due to it’s simplicity and reliability Toyota is known for combined with the greatest engine made from bmw, what else would you need!?
I want one so bad but they are just out of my reach in terms of price.
Personally I don't care about the manual
---TO ME--- Autos are more chill and flexible to drive and I just prefer them
Manual can be fun sometimes but i wouldn't want one as a daily.
Brand new the gt supra is $94,000 and the gts is $104,000 and u can choose whether or not it’s a manual or an automatic (with no extra cost) where I live atleast
