T.50S Niki LAUDA HANDS DOWN. It reminds me *EXACTLY* F1 cars during the 80’-90´s, the best era of racing cars that I lived and watched in real life. The Pagani sounds so good but really the GMA is on another planet to me.
I personally think the T.50 V12 engine is more impressive because it’s much smaller and also higher revving than the Pagani. Both sound incredible but the T.50 takes it for me.
03:01 still can‘t believe how they could make the Huayra R sound that high pitched even though it „only“ reaches 9000 RPM. They do both sound marvellous.
In Maisteer's video, he discovered that stepped engine headers are how you get that high pitched sound. Thats why there's such a drastic difference in pitch between these and other engines, despite the RPM. I don't know if the T50s has them - I imagine it does because you can hear that scream at the same octave as the pagani, but its much more subtle. Maybe it has less steps? 🤔
A combination of an even firing order (which the T50 doesn't have due to its 65 degree v-angle) and stepped headers. Either one would be even better with a triple exit, but that's pretty much why the pitch isn't too radically different despite the displacement and rpm delta.
I know you didn't specify but according to the official Pagani's website, the Huayra R exhaust is made from Inconel 625/718 alloy. No idea about the T.50 tho
The high-pitched sound comes from the equal-length headers and the merge of both sides (x-pipe). Titanium just makes the sounds more raspy and metallic (lighter metal, thinner walls).
Great video NM2255! I love them both. They’re brutal and explosively brisant. The Pagani has an edge of furious urgency, like it’s about to go supercritical just before redline
The T50s sounds more pure and raw screaamer like, while the Huayra R is like that of a refined classical instrument piece. Both sound characters I really love and it's a hard choice to choose between the two of em
It’s like two flavors of V12 to me. The Huayra R is loud yet smooth, like a ‘sweet’ flavor of V12. The T50 is visceral and raw, like a ‘sour’ flavor. Both amazing in their own right
I can imagine the T.50 is basically Gordon's ultimate wet dream made physical, a seamless combination of his masterpiece F1 and his forbidden art of active ground effect.

It's like people don't hear those wicked Pagani downshifts and definitely don't remember the Zonda R, which is every bit as brutal and angry sounding as the T50. In fact, I'd say that the T50 stands in here for the Zonda R's "naked brutality" role perfectly. So different in r refinement? A bit. But one being hands down better than the other? No. And whomever called the Huayra "one tone" should visit an ENT sooner than later because he's gone tone deaf.
I think the Pagani sounds better. Thr T.50, whether the road car or the T.50S , actually sounds too perfect. It has such a smooth engine note that you can’t hear each individual revolution of the engine (that’s heard as a bassy undertone) like you can in the Pagani. I will say, you can hear some of it coming from the intake of the T50, but not from the exhaust.
