Freeze dried is optimal. Dehydrated bone is as bad as cooked bone. Freeze dried retains almost all the raw qualities of bone so that it doesn’t sit undigested in the gut.

It’s the best decision I made for my German shepherd Rottweiler. He had terrible stomach issues prior to eating raw. I found a local company that makes dinner blends - meat, organs, bones, fruits, veg, vitamins and minerals. They’re pre-portioned. It makes my life easier and he’s as happy as a clam.
Now he actually eats his food. He’s put on muscle, his coat is softer and overall he seems much happier.
I know people find raw controversial but it’s literally changed our lives for the better.

I have a golden retriever. He has hips problems that are very common for his breed and that will inevitably kill him. Our vet told us the only solution was prosthetic hips, eventually when it gets bad. We put him on raw meat, and he stopped limping. I don’t know what kind of magic this is, and it’s purely circumstantial evidence, but if your dog has health problems that only have drastic solutions, it might be a good idea to try raw meat for a while, it might help.

My 3 yrs old maltipoo had stomach and skin issues too although not severe, but hate giving her meds from vets all the time. She was on wet food when she was a puppy and then kibbles and then home cooked. Still constantly having issues. Until I came across raw-feeding last year. Did extensive research on it and tried on her, never looked back. The transformation is amazing. She's a lot healthier and happier now. Then my neighbor told me she's been feeding raw to all her 9 dogs since puppies. Her current dog a poodle is a gracefully aging at 18 years old.

    • @Helvetica.16
      @Helvetica.16 5 місяців тому

@@lonestar3737 You don't cook raw food. The dogs naturally have stomachs built to digest raw foods, their stomach acid is stronger than ours and breaks down certain food born pathogens.
To ensure your dog doesn't get icky from raw food keep your station clean while prepping meals, try to get fresh meats, check for parasites, smell test, and freeze meats like wild game/pork/chicken/certain fish (ex. Tuna,Salmon,Bottom Feeders) for a few days to a week to kill off parasites.

    • @krazus2036
      @krazus2036 5 місяців тому

@lonestar3737 The chances of your raw meat having bacteria if it's fresh is really low, just freeze the meat before hand if it helps ease your mind. But the FDA is so strict on sanitation that if there's even a small sample of something they won't allow anything in the factory to leave and everything will be thrown out and cleaned for days

I also use air dried meat as training treats. No smelly farts and poos and firm normal poos. Just be organised and extra cleaning with your preparation area.

Grocery store raw meats are out. You need to have a good butcher with fresh stock. Followed that up with 4 sick dogs that had issues with vitamin deficiencies.
I went back to good kibble, royal canin and hills, with random meals a few times a month of a meat, some eggs, and rice and some sweet potatoes and such.

This is a really good example of how knowing about one piece of a puzzle is not a qualification to talk about all the others. There are important reasons vets who specialize in nutrition, doctors in metabolic health, researchers in canine feeding, do not recommend feeding raw. Your dogs health is not benefitting from an unbalanced and uncooked diet, not to mention it’s a potential public health hazard. And before you start saying I’ve had X and Y change, anecdotal evidence is correlative; meta analyzed, controlled data is causative. I’d highly recommend looking into really well informed vets with nutrition specialty like Dr. Lindsey Bullen who have taken the time to interpret the entirety of the body of available literature.

They're are pros and cons to both sides. But with a lower mortality rate across all breeds over the last 20 years, increased dietary problems (this info comes from vets), huge changes in industrial dry food companies production to make more profit. As a biologist animals eating what their bodies evolved to eat makes the most sense. You can see similar health issues in humans the more we've moved away from natural. We've selective bred dogs for thousands of years, but feeding them meat mixed with grain cooked for over 24 hours, and then mixing them with chemicals from companies who pay for in house research is fairly new to dogs biology. There is published raw diet research now also, there's even more published biased raw diet research from dry food companies. Personally I use both, dry for training.

She has more confidence and I’ve found her to be, more responsive to training and improved, albeit funnier behaviour! Her energy levels have also risen, and a more consistent stool too! Runa, her name, is an American Bulldog x American Staff! For me it’s been the best food switch for her! It does take up freezer space, two of the three baskets I have are Runa’s food and I shop weekly for her! I’m not saying it is or isn’t for everybody, but for Runa and I it’s a positive, so far!

It's also more expensive than regular kibble. Only thing I have to counter that is go hunting, but leave a tag open for your dogs. Shoot a deer, some squirrels, hogs, rabbits, even an elk or something to really help stock up the freezers for near free. Take the choice meats, save them for yourself, and then let them have the bones and Misc. stuff that you wouldn't normally eat. Go fishing and let them have a couple. Dogs are smaller humans, so whatever you would consume, they'll take longer to consume the same amount.

I found minced beef less smelly than all dog raw I used to buy.

recently bought a pack of drumsticks seperated 2-3 of them into multiple sandwich bags ill give the doggo one every now and again and thaw the others as needed for 7$ i actually feel like im giving him a treat that will actually help his overall health. Naturally he loves this new gig😂 ive recently learned of the benefits a live diet or at least partially live diet is for dogs and if i can incorporate some chicken for his coat and skin as well as dental hygiene for less than ide spend at a fast food place thats good enough for me 😁

I’d love to switch my canine crew to a raw diet, but it is cost prohibitive for those of us who have several large dogs. As a rescuer/foster mom with a love of gentle giants, I’d have to spend a small fortune every month on my dogs’ meals. I wish I could, though.

Worst thing would have to be the price, which I realize is why 99% of people won't do it. I spend $50/week on my two chihuahua. Most people $60/month for their large breed kibble. Raw would cost them atleast $100 week if you don't want to meal prep yourself which most won't want to do either

You forgot $$$$$$ I have 2 dogs one mastiff and one small APBT and it cost $400 a month to feed them pre-made raw chubs. It's always cheaper to DIY but one of my dogs has tons of allergies so it's easier to feed a premade allergy friendly meal but omg the money is mindblowing.

random, not apart of the video. But do you have tips for a new dog owner, who is chasing a mastiff as their first dog?
(I’ve been around dogs all my life, and have been working with dogs for the last 6months to a year)
I have always wanted a Tibetan mastiff, and wanted to know some big tips for big help, with a big dog. Don’t want to mess up my pupper, when that day comes.
Happy new year! And thanks for any help.🐶🐶

I'm personally vegan because I've always had an aversion to meat - so I don't think I'll ever feed a dog raw unless the dog's health requires it. As it is my dog loves his Salmon and sweet potato kibble and his happy and healthy. Interesting info though!

This might be a tad off topic….. but I Cook for my Dog.
When I got my Golden Retriever she was 8 weeks old and had been fed Royal Canin by the Breeder in Bangkok.
When she was about 6-8 months old, I stopped feeding her packaged kibble type “Dog Food”.
Instead, I started cooking for her……every day.
Sandy is now 23 months old….. and very healthy, weighing in at 30kg….. no fat. All muscle.
A typical late afternoon/early evening meal will consist of one type of meat. Every meal is different, so she does not get bored and looks forward to every meal.
    1) Chicken Guts (Heart, Liver, Lungs…etc)
    2) Beef Liver.
    3) Chicken Breast.
    4) Fish (High in Omega 3)
    5) Beef.
With one (1) of the above meats, I will then try to add most all of the following…… if I have it in the refrigerator.
    - Broccoli
    - Carrot
    - Ginger
    - Apple
    - Pineapple
    - Celery
    - Cucumber
    - Turmeric Root Powder
    - 1 Egg
    - 3 Spoonfuls of BROWN Rice (Never White Rice) I cook the Brown Rice and put it in small zip-lock bags and freeze it until needed. I get enough for about 2 weeks (14 meals)
The meat is cooked first in Coconut Oil, then I add the veggies, brown rice and egg. The Turmeric Powder is added to the bowl uncooked, before serving.
Many packaged “Dog Food” brands are responsible for causing Cancer and early deaths in many dogs…. So I feed my dog “Real Food”.
Have fun cooking for your dog. They will enjoy it….: )

When I add an egg to my Golden’s meal….. I also crush up the egg shell and toss it in.
The meat, veggies, brown rice and egg are all then cooks at very high heat for only a couple minutes. Rapidly approaching 2yrs old, Sandy has been on this diet for over 1 year now and is 29kg of solid muscle. No fat.

You’re also going to need to be able to afford around $500 a month in food for that dogs entire life. I’ve heard sooo many stories about owners losing their bigger income but their dogs turn their nose up at kibble, and will only eat it to avoid starving themself
