Considering Spiff is my literal all time favorite content creator, and i am an aspiring content creator, I absolutely love that this video exists. Thank all of you so very much for taking the time to do this!!!!
I agree with the "everyone is copying the other guy" thing... I started a channel 26 days ago - I made home videos for decades and put them online now. I only have like 258 uploaded (from a total of 1,600ish).... And I have no clue really what I'm doing... someone talked me into doing this. But thanks for the "how to" tips... !
Amazing video worth of a sub!! Even though I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, I still remember getting started. It was a tough journey. Of course, things are a lot easier now and I'm super grateful that I didn't give up and stayed patient all the way through. Consistency and hard work (I have also used a little bit of Famester to take off my channel, and I don't regret it) is the key for small channels and, in my experience always pay off.

I'm a very smalltuber, been on and off for like 10 years now with very little groth to show for it, thanks for the good ideas and tips, will be looking deeper into my channel and what things to chnage!
My biggest things I have done was change my thumbnail style. Using more eye catching colors. Another thing is my style of story telling even tho I am just playing a video game. Making every game session an experience or story has gave my subscribers something to look forward to. Even though they have played the same game, hearing it as a story in someone else’s POV makes a world of a difference!!! Thanks VidIQ for providing some key things that pivoted my channel!
I'm growing simply because I focus on what other creators don't focus on. When I started off with UA-cam officially 3 months ago, I knew Minecraft content was incredibly competitive, and a year ago I wouldn't have even considered it. But I have a ton of ideas that, apparently, have not been done before, and 75% of those ideas have not even come to pass yet. I first jumped on trending topics and created my own editing style that outdid other creators in this niche. Not talking about cool edit montages, just a well-led story. After gaining views and more subscribers from that, I switched to ideas that were unique but still relevant to the niche. As such, I now have 10k subscribers and average 100k views per video. And I'm yet to enter the phase (which is planned out) where I'll get millions of views. If you put your mind to it and have full dedication to grow, then you'll succeed, but sadly 90% of youtubers will quit half-way. I've had my lows as well, but I never quit, I change the plan.
I love that this video unifies different ideas for whichever content creation paths you could take. There’s not one perfect path, but the one that is perfect for you.
Spiffing Brit's got pointers, but the UA-cam game's got layers. It's a mix of quality content, smart moves, staying true to your vibe, and really vibing with your audience.

Much appreciation for creators like you for teaching smaller channels the ropes of gaining a bigger audience. Glad that I’ve at least got the ball rolling now though 🔥
I do baking tutorials and i have a homestead (not on my channel though) and i speculated in one video about swapping out the chicken egg for duck egg. I got comments from viewers saying it sounded cool and they had never done it either. So i check around and the only videos i could find about involved hatching duck egg or cooking just duck egg. Even though duck egg is rather common in baked goods. So i made a video for a pancake recipe and i did a double. I made one batch with chicken egg and the other with duck, side by side comparisons and my thoughts and opinions. Its one of my most popular videos And I'm the only video i could find doing it

Okay, I heard "do your strategic thing and just keep going." I am walking that walk, for sure. I recently came to the conclusion that my thumbnails will never be that great, so I stick with telling people what it's about in 5 or fewer words OR playing on curiosity. I am pulling back on 2 long videos a week, especially after my 49-minute comparison one that took me a while to edit down. 2:00 this is kinda true, my channel is poop I upload random stuff in my main speaking language so I get very very low views basically no likes as well, but when I make tutorials, or something in English or popular my views go up way more compared to what I get, one of my tutorial videos got like 50k views and 1k likes, its more basically make english speaking video, good quality, good thumbnail, good title, key words, and that's it.
it does give it a boost similar to all uploaded videos in the world, but if it doesn't bring enough attraction at first, then it will simply be on the grave, I know it's hard to accept but if your video isn't pushed enough, then it's not youtube's fault, it's your fault, either you like it or not.
I like this because sometimes, as a new channel, we think about just getting content out all the time without realizing that quality is super important (unless on a trend that's a good thing to get on top of)
I’m a small fish in the home decor pond trying to find my way. I started my channel to step into full time as I retire from my day job. It’s exciting. It’s fun. It’s a lot of work. I❤love it. Thank you for the advice and encouragement !!
I think everyone is different. I think sometimes it's not always about quality. it's about perfect timing and what's the content.I did a shark video short that gained like 4 million views. I did notice that sometimes videos that are more shocking tend to blow up more.
Okay. But what does he know about growing now? The audience and algorithm has changed a couple of time since his beginning. Growing in 2010, 2015, 2020 and now in 2023 are sooo much different from each other.
The essence is all the same, the same knowledge applies. Pick a pond Throw out good looking bait that matches with the fish you want to catch. Hope the fish bite (increase chances picking the right bait ) And when they bite, you have to make sure they dont break loose and keep that line tight, and hope to reel them on your boat to float around 😂
I wanted to ask, you make videos basically on how to succeed here on UA-cam. But on the other side, even when you have over 1.65M subscribers, your videos usually don't even get to 100K views - Why? Althrough I think that your videos are great, they have good titles and thumbnails, well edited and they make their point. Thanks for answering!
I guess it's because people watch the video, try these things and still don't make it, and then it's not worth to watch another. I take these videos with a grain of salt, there are a ton of big UA-camrs out there who will tell you it's mostly luck and if you have a big subscriber base and don't mess it up much, there is probably no one who can steal that base and small channels stay small because of the much lower subscriber base in the first place. If let's say a German "Gronkh" has 2,2m subs and nearly entire Germany knows its name, you can do better content no matter what, ppl will watch "Gronkh", not the small Channel. They are used to the voice, know the person etc. There are many people who got famous because they randomly met very big established creators or big creators made them big with twitch raids etc. It' like being in the industry, if you're big and you got the money, you got possibilities and much more chances, if you're small you got no power, no big audience, not much chances and rely mostly on luck. Most people don't want to hear that, and I guess even VidIQ would say it's wrong. But thousands if not millions can tell you another story. I also made some videos no one did and earned my first 1000 Subs and many views, and it stopped when some big creators copied my idea and pushed out more videos of it (because I can't do it full time) and they even had not the quality I had. Still, they stole it and dropped my views tremendously. So yeah.
UA-cam tips & strategies is a fairly niche market and vidIQ is very aware of this. The majority of their sub base probably started off as potential content creators but then eventually those viewers move on (but are still subscribed). Vid IQ is constantly serving new viewers, people who become interested in UA-cam, and like the viewers before many of these viewers will give up on the UA-cam journey and move on. Low views compared to subs does not mean they are doing bad, this is simply the market they are in, and it still works for them.
I've questioned TeamUA-cam on Twitter, because I found that my views, likes and subscribers are being subtracted. After confirming that it is shady, they suggested a much shadier solution, which requires me to pay them. As if ads were not enough. Talking about ponds, I'm in a pond by myself with unique content, and my thumbnails are kind of appealing. The secret is not finding a niche: it is being invited to the select club. Many big UA-camrs don't even bother presenting extensively investigated and scientifically correct content. So, no money, no views. And even at that, you may pay for advertising, and not only not getting the views but also get ousted from the platform for any random reason. In conclusion, UA-cam is not worth it. It is better to invest in smaller platforms.
All these advices feels like trash haha. It seems so dumb feels like they are doing it for money by telling us low quality feedback in loops. If you really look at it, don't mind about competition, it's irrelevant totally irrelevant. The truth is you have have to make videos on whatever you like but that topic needs to have an audience, and to get the audience in your video, the main problem j see is, we suck at influencing people's emotions. That alone makes us unsuccessful. I mean thumbnail and title are pretty kindergarten compared to making people happy. Even if you work hard you won't be big unless if you learn to make the people happy. I have been here for 7 years and finally found that truth consciously. I knew it unconsciously long time ago but I know it consciously now, and I have to go to collage and get a big job first, that's my step, I need big budget first for video productions. You have to solve your problem to fix up on why you are incapable of making people not happy from your content. You're welcome for the feedback.
Also competition is nothing to worry, here's an analogical insight: you know there are lots of stores all over the place, but when a person opens a store it still gets sells, sometimes some new stores get so much popularity, it depends on what kind of things they sell, how often they restock and all other small data points. Same on UA-cam there's competition but it's nothing if you focus on how you can serve the people correctly. Unsatisfactory videos are like rotten fruits, people can see it but don't buy it.
So how am I suppose to change the thumbnail after I've edited and re-upload to my channel on my desktop? I know you can pick frames from mobile phones but there's currently no options on desktop to do so.
It's great to hear Spiffing Brits opinions on this. There's a few things that are different to what I've heard. It's something I'll think about and see how I can apply it to my channel.
Being an outdoor creator that started with very cheap and basic camera gear and very limited knowledge of editing I am wondering, Should I refilm some of my older content. Things such as Bush Walks that were done several years ago with very shaky footage. Should I refilm them now that I have much better camers, editing gear, mics and knowledge?
What a wonderful insight. and Spiffing Brit is really great and I love his content. I sometimes just have it in the background and listen to his witty comments. Thank you for the tips and this will probably help me grow as well.
You guys have helped me SO MUCH! I've been watch your videos for years studing and now im putting everything into play and SPOILER ALERT: ITS WORKNG! Just REMEMBER GUYS! ALWAYS TRY YOUR BEST
This video answered so many questions for me as a starting UA-camr I was really concerned about quality vs quantity and I think it will be a game changer for me… thank you VidIQ
I'm Getting 2 or 3 impressions on my YT videos now i used to get 4k+ some even 30k my editing and thumbnails were bad back then but i kinda improved a little bit at this point idk if i should make another channel or just move on, i used to upload daily but waking up everyday with 0 views is kinda depressing
I always have a few thumbnails to prepare, so after I post a video, for the next couple of days, I check UA-cam analytics for impressions and click-through rate. If it's going up, it means all is good; if it's going down, it means I need to change it.
I'm probably not gonna use any of this, but you know what they say "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back again." 9:34 Not only that, but you want to make something that you're proud of and something that you yourself would watch even if nobody else did. I guess that's more the artist's perspective than the business man's... Well said, well said. I guess the reason I'm not the audience for this type of information is because I simply don't care enough. I just make things when I make things.
Thanks for having me! Happy to answer follow up questions if anyone has any in the comments.

UA-cam tips & strategies is a fairly niche market and vidIQ is very aware of this. So, no money, no views. And even at that, you may pay for advertising, and not only not getting the views but also get ousted from the platform for any random reason.
In conclusion, UA-cam is not worth it. It is better to invest in smaller platforms.
Please advise? What if a large content creator hijacks your niche and is now doing it better? Makes me so sad
That's actually a brilliant answer thank you!@@Narayan
Best voice crack at the start 😂
Give us an interview with someone who uses their channel for attracting customers to a real business.
Thanks for your guide was what I needed❤❤
So how am I suppose to change the thumbnail after I've edited and re-upload to my channel on my desktop? I know you can pick frames from mobile phones but there's currently no options on desktop to do so.
Thank for sharing.
Very informative. Thanks for this advice 😃
It's great to hear Spiffing Brits opinions on this. There's a few things that are different to what I've heard. It's something I'll think about and see how I can apply it to my channel.
Go for it!
Thanks for the tips!!!
Just started a channel (graphic design) Goodluck everyone we got this!
Good Information shared.
Thanks VidIq
At first, I thought the video was self-contradictory regarding the thumbnail. I watched it many times to make sense of it.
inbthere a full-length video or podcast of this interview?
Good video I got watch so far🔥
Where did you purchase the led lights?
I will never give up, even if it might look hard i know i will get there one day💪
Being an outdoor creator that started with very cheap and basic camera gear and very limited knowledge of editing I am wondering, Should I refilm some of my older content. Things such as Bush Walks that were done several years ago with very shaky footage. Should I refilm them now that I have much better camers, editing gear, mics and knowledge?
You can just create a new video on the same topic if it performed well.
Great video, keep it up😊😊😊
Very good video! Loved hearing insights from an experienced youtuber that is doing very well.

@@vidIQomg again? Lol since ik Vicky runs the live chat are you Vicky?
I think thumbnails are my biggest issue, i really think my content is good i just cant really get people to click
Great video guys ✌️very helpful
Doing the exact same content of big UA-camrs isn't always the best option. You have to add your unique twist to it and make it original.
Top tier collab
I'll try this thing called youtube 8 months from now 🤗
I always have a few thumbnails to prepare, so after I post a video, for the next couple of days, I check UA-cam analytics for impressions and click-through rate. If it's going up, it means all is good; if it's going down, it means I need to change it.
I definitely follow the quantity advice. Just get going is the way I see it.
Thanks for video, i will try to crack the code to but in my own way. Its hard to get started but hopefully i get there one day.
a bajillion ways 😂😂 love that
I'm probably not gonna use any of this, but you know what they say "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back again."
9:34 Not only that, but you want to make something that you're proud of and something that you yourself would watch even if nobody else did. I guess that's more the artist's perspective than the business man's...
Well said, well said.
I guess the reason I'm not the audience for this type of information is because I simply don't care enough. I just make things when I make things.
I followed since last month 😂🎉
