I love his videos. He gets right to the key points. I am a stihl owner and have been for years. Younger aged with a 441m and later with 261cm. Use both now. Pay the extra money for the professional version, it is always worth it for the quality. Be safe.
Yes you get the anti vib on the 271 but you get a lot more. Yes the chassis is plastic but mine is 4 years old and has never broke using it roughly 3 hours a week. The carb may be mechanical but has only needed adjusted once. I replace the air filter with the 261’s. If you even remotely strong or fit you don’t need a decomp valve on a stihl. And it also is about 3-400 dollars cheaper than the 261.
The MS261C is m-tronic. the C designates comfort features and in the pro saws case that is mostly m-tronic. The non m-tronic carb model is the standard MS261. I have really just gone towards the m-tronic models, though I am a trained tech and understand the components. Either way solid saws

Sound like me years ago when fuel injection was started and I loved my carburetors but now I love injection and hate carburetors.
I love my 271 but it is quite heavy. You feel it after a day of using it. But as far being tuff it's got all the muscle i have ever needed.
That was my second choice. I used the 261 over the weekend and its worth its weight in gold. light weight and extremely easy to start. Do you have any complaints or issues with your 271?
@@OldSoulMillennial no sir. Not a single one. Its going on 3 years now and is starts right up every spring. Its a real good saw.
It's literally in the manual to run it in full throttle but low load.
I agree with you on the carburetor vs m-tronics model. One good EMP and your m-tronics software is fried, your stuck with a worthless saw.

I just got the 261 been running the 271 well all I can say the 261 is an absolute dream to run! It absolutely rips balls and is much smoother than the farm boss! Im not knocking the farm boss its a great saw but the 261 is made to run ALL DAY LONG! Its the nicest saw Ive ran! But I just bought a brand new 462C-Mtron R for my massive pines! I have yet to try it!
Let me know how the M-tronic carb works out
@@OldSoulMillennial my neighbor has the same 462 m tron it ripps balls runs perfect he has several gallons through his runs it all day long! No issues no hiccups but he does clean the saw like your supposed to after every day of use! Thats critical
Don't the MS 261 C saws have a C on the badge? I didn't see one on yours but I'm not sure if they stopped adding it.
So if the saw has a C on it that means it has the M Tronic carburetor, for example ms 261 C but the saw he has in the vid has the standard carburetor so it’s just a ms 261
Will a ms 261 top end fit a ms 271

Every one i know puts the felling mark on their own saws. It's ridicules stihl thinks this is a plus to charge more for it.
