We have two version of these. The newer CM that apparently uses half the gas compared to the old one, but weight 1/2 kilo more. That said, The only reason one would buy a 261CM over a MS400CM is "budget". The 400CM handles much the same. A little heavier, but much much much more powerful and snappy thanks to the magnesium piston.
To anyone new to chainsaw cleaning. If you’re going to sharpen the chain too, do the sharpening before cleaning the saw, so you can get rid of the filing debris off the bar, as you then clean the bar and before cutting. Instead of cleaning the bar, then re-contaminating the chain & bar before cutting.
A Snap-On tool box plus a room full of saws. I'm in love 🥰
Just upgraded to the Ms261C too. Very smooth, Strong , and the Mtronic system is amazing! No more carburetor adjustments! 😁
I got taught/shown how to tighten my chain easily.
Set the machine on the bench, get a block of wood to support the end of the bar with the chain lock nuts let off a little so that it allows the bar to lift a little, thus slightly tightening the chain, adjust the tensioner for the chain, then tighten the lock nuts, job done.
Best wishes with your new saw!
Don't let the sweet voice disguise this pro, guys! You sure know your way around! Keep 'em coming miss. Oh and a trick for the oil cap: This is not Stihl's finest hour, but there are actually arrows and dots on there. Align them, and you should be golden. Don't worry, even the aged fella's are fumbling with these. I always use the 'lift trick'; If you can lift the saw by using the oil cap, it's closed properly and you won't spill everything on your pants. Especially when climbing (my case) that's not what you want. Hope this all makes sense, English is not my native language :) Love and peace from a young Dutch climber.
Thank you so much! 😊 I'm a long way from being a pro, but I hope to get there someday and am enjoying the learning process. Thanks for the lift trick, I'll try that next time an might even clean off the plugs to get a better look at them. 👍
I just got a 261 with a 20 inch bar cant wait to use it
Nicely maintained saw and appreciate your able bodyness
Thank you!
I have one. It’s a great saw. Cuts thru red oak with no problem. Have fun.
It really is, I liked it a lot. Have fun and stay safe!
Sarah, good Tuesday evening from down here in Washington State, USA! I wish to commend you on a SUPERB video, Madam, and well done! You are following most / all of the modern PPE Safety Rules and Guidelines regarding running outdoors equipment of this type, most impressive! If I personally may, I was deeply impressed by your initial starting and brief running of this larger model of Stihl chainsaw there, you handled it with ultra confidence and poise, again well done! Your cutting techniques are constantly getting better, and this is demonstrated by your online level of self-confidence in both handling this larger model, along with the smaller model of Stihl chainsaws there. My sincere hope is to see much more of your enjoyment in operating this form of outdoors equipment, Madam. You and I both share a common affinity, a great enjoyment and individual gratification in operating the same. Looking truly most forward to further videos there in the very near future, good evening and kindest regards, N.R.
Thank you so much! I'm very glad that you enjoyed it and am looking forward to sharing many more chainsaw adventures :)
Man, you sound like a straight stalker, or worse. You couldn't just compliment her and leave it at that, right? No, you had to fall all over yourself and do everything but brush her hair for her. I'm pretty sure we'll be reading about you at some point in the future, the cops will find people's heads in your freezer or something else equally sick.
Good job 👍 Thank you so much
That's a good idea, blowing the crap in a trash can instead all over the garage.
Thought you did really well! Also spot on job of cleaning the saw, the ms 170 good little saw
Thank you! I've had lots of practice from cleaning my 170 over the winter. It's a great little saw and has held up well in the worst cold and wet conditions, a real trooper 🙂
That's a very beautifully saw!!!
"the land" is such a funny way of putting it.
Looks great, nice saw
The real comparison is between the Ms270 & Ms 261. Equal displacement and bar length. The 270 has good power but the 261 has noticeably more power & weighs less. A big difference when using it all day.
I've got a 261cm and I really like it.
It really is a great saw, really fun to handle!
Looks like a good saw
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
The 261 is a great saw. If you have the means I would definitely step up.
It really is! So far it's the saw I've most enjoyed handling. I might be able to borrow it again until I can get one of my own.
Good video, great comment and humour on the 350 F's . Subscribed , and looking forward to more videos!
Thank you so much!
F 250?
I have a ms 271 that I put 3/8 sprocket on and run a square filed chain. I gained upwards of almost 30 plus percent cut time since switching. The vallorbe swiss double chisel bit files are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Plus not every one even knows what square filed chain is. So it's kinda cool to have a little different set up on my 271 and the fact it cuts faster equals less wear on motor. Recently I took a 33 inch tree at the base with this 271 and an 18 inch bar with my square filed chain and my saw ate that tree for lunch.
Full chisel chains are no fun to sharpen lol
awesome
The oil cap can become a PITA to close and latch as it gets saturated with oil and dirt. Once a year or less I take that cap off and soak it in a solvent (gas). Shake it dry and it will work so so much better.
Good idea! I'll remember that for when I get my own 261 🙂
Great video. Love that Kask helmet!
Thank you for this material ... I am not sure, but you should never pull throttle when the brake is on ... it may screw the clutch from what I've heard
While you're blowing off the saw, clean the air filter too.
Wow
I have a MS170 and I'm probably upgrading soon to the MS261C.
What length bar were you using in the video? Thanks.
I got a poulan that cuts soft wood well too, you need hard wood for demonstration purposes, like ash, oaks, osage.
Please do a stihl 400c I think you will like it. It's between 362 and 462
Are you still enjoying the 261 three years down the line?
And if so, how's it holding up?
💪✌
Almost time for a Stihl 500i, Lol 🪵👍🏼🇱🇷
I'd love to try one if I get the chance, assuming I could get it started 🙂
Which gauge bar and chain does the MS261C use?
I have a feeling you would not be impressed when I fill my gas and oil. I can’t do it without making a mess and I have accepted that in life 😂
Can anyone give me details of the refuelling valve seen at 4mins in the video?
make a video on the 550xp mark ii
I would love to, but I don't know anyone who has one atm. I might be able to get my hands on a 562xp soon though :)
Does the caps leak, or is it a good buy?
It's really good, you just have to make sure they're closed properly 👍
@@TheRealSarahCatherineThx. Good to hear, think im maybe buying one :)
Hey Sarah,
Your like a professional lumberjill now!
Looks like you have been starting and using chainsaws all your life ;)
Where did you get the chainsaw from?
Thanks! I'm really enjoying the process. I just borrowed the saw 🙂
@@TheRealSarahCatherine
Your welcome and you can definitely tell 👍😏
That’s cool 😎

The fuel and oil cap design is their worst flaw
Мs261 cm👍💓💗❤🔥
Subscribed. Thanks.
DOUG out
You're giving me the urge to learn how to use a chainsaw! 🌲
You totally should! It's hard work, but really fun!
You seem pretty muscular. Do you work out? Or just work.
Je crois que je vais mourir de rire...
You have a Ford F-350 and you haven’t figured out what ‘F’ stands for or was that a joke.
Just a joke. A lame one, but still less underwhelming than what the 'F' actually stands for 🙂
@@TheRealSarahCatherineWhat does the ‘F’ stand for? I don’t own one.
dich sang tiêńg viêt ₫i miǹh thich xem ko biêt tiêńg
Clean it, lmfao.
