I am happy to see that the killer lions of Tsavo exhibit I worked on in 1996 is still the same. We updated it in preparation for the movie “The Ghost in the Darkness” by adding thorn bushes behind the lions. The thorn bushes were taken from trimmings from trees in Grant Park. We added long thorns to the branches by gluing painted toothpicks to them. The lions could not be moved, so we had to climb inside the case and paint around the lions. This was done during museum hours and I still remember hundreds of school children banging on the glass.
Chicago native here... the field museum has some of the most famous dino murals painted by Charles Knight... all the moldorama dinos are based on his murals!! They were created i believe fior the 64 worlds fair in NY. Happy travels friend.
Can only say this: It is an absolutely beautiful museum, well worth any trip to Chicago.
When you show the mold o rama making the figures I can smell the figure ❤❤❤
Chicago Field Museum is definitely worth the trip.
This is one of the best museums I've ever been too. Actually been back 3 times. This brings back great memories.
Super cool to see you at The Field! Chicago is lucky to have it.
I have been a member of the Field since 1994. I LOVE that museum with a passion and would often just wander the halls and sit to take it all in. All of these years later, I still have not seen or done everything. Welcome (back) to Chicago.
Great to see you making vlogs and spending time in my home City Chicago. The Field Museum is excellent, as is The Museum of Science and History and the Art Institute.
Thanks
Thank you, the visit was very interesting and beautiful, everything you don't see otherwise has been shown here!
Hi, I'm neurodivergent and I loved museums. Thank you for your videos, they allow me to travel with you from the comfort of my home.
I was at the field museum a couple weeks ago, honestly one of my favorite museums out there
Thank you for taking me along on your adventure. This was so interesting. I love the taxidermy. Everything looks so life like. You crack me up with your enthusiasm for the Mold A Rama. Good to see you enjoying yourself.
Went here not to long ago with my family! It’s amazing!
It's been years since I've been to Field. Thank you so much for showing this. I hope to revisit my friend the cat spirit in the Egyptian room soon.
Best wishes!
This museum and the remnants of the worlds fairs and the stadium are the only reason why I would visit Chicago...
“Such a beautiful and colorful pile of dead animals”…. 😂😂 Love your videos!
Not racist. It's not racist to display the awesome difference in the human race.
I really like the nature museums.
Thank you for sharing your visit to this awesome museum!
That was so awesome!! Must put on my bucket list for the summer road trips.
The field museum is so near and dear 2 my heart so excited to see you romp through it
One of my favorites
@@TheCarpetbagger Discovering recently you are from Valparaiso, I wonder if you took exciting trips from the bedroom community to the big city on the lovely South Shore line. I'm obviously a region rat.
Thank you for the tour. I have not been to this museum since the middle 1970's . I lived in Milwaukee at that time. but now Milwaukee is going to have theirs demolished . Such a shame that the building is falling apart. Much of the exhibits will not make it to their new museum, which is smaller than the other one from the 1960's . So much will be lost.
I laughed for a minute straight at the Sue Lynn Panda story. Thanks, I needed that. I like these museum vids, good job. 👍🏼
Born cook county hospital. Moved to Florida when I couldn’t shovel snow any longer but thank you much sir.
Ooh your at the field museum! I’ve been here a lot, great museum!
I remember that I went to the field museum in Chicago Illinois and also I’m from Chicago so I have heard of the field museum
Love this. It's amazing. Thank you for sharing. Please take care of yourself and be safe.
I can't wait to go visit Sue and Maximo and all of the others. Thank you for this fabulously awesome video!!!
Tell them I said hi
@@TheCarpetbagger I totally will 🦖🦕😁
seeing you go to my childhood museums makes my day! thank you for visiting!!
Growing up in Chicago, my 2 favorite places to visit were Field Museum and Brookfield Zoo.
Was always fascinated by the dinosaur exhibit and the remarkable murals by Charles Knight.
This place looks ace! Loving the recent content from Chicago so far!
Wonderful museum. I have not been there in many many years but it is always so interesting and one of my favorites!
We were just there a few weeks ago. Would have been crazy if we saw you there! Love all the info you give in the beginning. Maximo is huge but Sue is the reason we keep going back! It was so much more busy when you went. Always cool to see you at our home town. Happy New Year to you.
My mom and I had a great day, and when we got home we had tea and macaroons and watched this it was super fun
Thank you for this extrodenary trip through a museum that I, a New Englander, had never even heard of before, and is it ever a dandy!
Glad you showed the field museum lived in Chicago for 23 years and were i was born i only got to go there once and didn't get to stay long but I loved it went to the the museum of science and industry a lot and never got to see everything thank you carpetbagger for sharing your adventures
Hell yes dude, my favorite museums. Touring exhibits and sue are always fun to check out
The basement area with the picnic tables was such an odd place to put them. But made for an interesting lunch area on Field Trips
I love the field museum and I have very fond memories of it I remember about 4-5 years ago now I performed in the main room of the museum
This is one of my favorite museums. I haven't been there in years so it was great seeing it again. 😊
This one is close to my heart
It looks a amazing museum jacob, thank you for sharing
i love your museum tours.
*I HAVENT BEEN HERE IN SO LONG IM SO FRICK FRAKING HAPPY!!!!*
Love when you visit our beloved city. Pointing out the positives and attractions. Saw your visit to the torture museum, great work!
God bless you carpetbagger stay safe and i love that you share your wonderful experiences to all the places you go
Wow, I have not been there since the mid 80's as a very young kid. What a great place! I may have to take the kids on the 4 hour drive down 1-94 and check it out again. Thanks Jacob great video as usual.
Don't know how i missed watching this one. Well hope you are recovering well can't wait for you to get better and post more videos
Always nice to see some interesting museums since I am Canadian can't get there just yet. Thanks
I used to watch this person on TV, his content is amazing to watch
Jacob was on TV?
@@nanuqo2006 on UA-cam on a TV you know what roku is?
@@LightDrawsStuff I didn't, but by searching it up, I realised what you meant. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing various museums with us -- I love seeing what each one has to offer
Awe damn, Thats so cool you’re in my city. I’m a Chicago native. I love your videos, you got me through 2020
I love this museum! I grew up always going there. Brings back so many memories. I live in LAs vegas now so it's nice to see it. My favorite exhibit was always the dinos and the mummies. I was always into ancient Egypt.
Never heard of this before, but I would love to visit. You went in during daylight and came out at night. Definitely would have to go at 8 am to see everything. Lol My favorite would have to be the Malvina Hoffman exhibit and the shrunken exhibit. The Malvina Hoffman statues were absolutely beautiful and was done in good taste. I don't see them as racist at all. It's other things that I saw as racist, but had nothing to do with Ms. Hoffman exhibit. I am super surprised to see all the Mold-a-ramas!! And they all worked!!! Lol Thanks Jacob!! Looks like I've added another place to visit on my Carpetbagger list.
Great tour...fascinating..thanks CB you are the best!!!!⚱⚰🗿
Awesome video. It was funny seeing a museum where I've actually been before and took so many photos. Good stuff!
I love your videos and narration. Kudos!
I was there earlier this year and want to go back again so bad. Such a fun city! Thanks for the video
If you ever come to England you should absolutely check out the Natural History Museum in London - it's one of my favourite museums in the UK. I think you'd love it! There's also another, smaller, Natural History Museum in Tring, about 30 miles outside of London. That's also worth checking out too!
I like this exhibit how they have good comparisons to us
What a fantastic museum! Thank you for sharing with us. Also all those great Mold o rama's.
Thank you! Love the Mold a Ramas
@@TheCarpetbagger I loved this video happy new year.
So excited to see you visit the Field museum! I recently went to Chicago and wasn't able to make it to the Field museum, so I just vicariously lived through your experience. Great video as always!
I still get the molds of things😆
Those molded figures would be really awesome to collect
Just about EVERY kid who has been to the museum campus will remember those, they go way back. I think they started out of Wisconsin and are on other institutions in the country. Worth 5 bucks, no?
Jacob has a large collection and never passes up a machine without buying one! You must not sub to him and not knowing about his Mold-A_Rama collection
@@conniecrawford5231 Interesting. I have about 40 of them myself.
I haven’t been to Chicago yet, but I want to get Garrett popcorn and eat deep dish pizza at either Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s. My mom has been to Chi-town before years ago. It’s snowing where I live in Marlton, NJ. Have fun Jake!
Oh Jacob! You can’t be the only human skeleton in a primate display. That would only confuse people.
I’ve been to the Field Museum once, many years ago. It was probably the best museum I’ve seen in the US. And the Science and Technology museum close by was also top notch.
Yes! I love that place!
Field is amazing, this and The Art Institute are enough to come visit Chicago.
Science and Industry and Shedd Aquarium are amazing, Shedd is just gorgeous actually. Adler is ok. I guess it is like Pluto of them all, but great for laser light shows.
In addition to the amazing, traditional artworks at the Art Institute, the Arms and Armor really does it for me.
Loving the daily uploads jacob
That place looks really cool! I think I'm heading to Chicago this weekend. I may have to put this and The Office Experience on the list.
That is a huge Museum. You covered a lot of ground . Some very interesting exhibits . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Have not been here since they got the Beluga whales at the Shed Aquarium, Thanks for the tour. I need to go back. Do the Museum of Science and Industry PLZ.
I'll never make it there so it's cool to see it! Thanks!!!
I grew up in Chicago and went to the museum many times on field trips. Back then, I could have told you where every exhibit was. Lol
THE CARPETBAGGER
IS MY HERO 🏅
Cool place Ty
I didn't know moths had long tongue
I do recommend going to the Science museum that is in Chicago and also I heard of people talking about that awesome museum and I’ve been there two times in a row
Thank you for this video, I’ve always wanted to go there especially the man eating lions
This place is on my bucket list... hoping to get there in a year or 2
If you haven’t read Erik Larson’s book “ The Devil in the White City” about H.H.Holmes and the 1893 Columbia Exposition, do it- fascinating book!
Very interesting read@
Great book. Had to read it for school and hated it back then, then I reread it on my own and loved it.
I agree. The history is interesting in itself and the crime drama is almost so bizarre that it seems made up.
You are hilarious! Just made my Birthday lol. I'm from Chicago 🤣
The original building from the Columbian exhibition is still standing --- it's been the Museum of Science and Industry for decades.
Jacob --- would have loved to meet up with you when you were in town.
Enjoyed replay thanks 😊 😘
Dude I love watching these baked asf
If your in Chicago go to the museum of science and industry. You could have talked about the field museum building being a relic from the turn of the century world's fair.
I've been wanting to go there for years. I grew up in NYC, going to the American Museum of Natural History.
Talking with engineer friends, it's amazing that the tech in those moldorama machines haven't changed in years. The only thing that's changed is they take card now
The sculptures are beautiful and I dont find it racist she captures the different races beautifully and how they were are and looked when she made them.
very epic experience
Hey omg they have a io moth display! I love io moths so much the males are so pretty with the yellow
Interesting nice Jacob ty.🤟
The albino squirrel is my hometown of Olney Illinois hometown animal. Our town is even called “The Home of the White Squirrel”
This is so cool and awesome man
Just GOING to Chicago is A LOT scarier than that dinosaurer.
Love going to the Field Museum and the Science Museum !
Science and Industry is classic as well
Science and Industry is classic as well
In my area we got down to - 43 I'm in Alberta. Just in minutes you can instantly freeze
Went there in October, definitely one of the best, I like that they have 2 african cichlids alive
What a great place , really cool 😎
I love that the giant penny says in soil we trust lol
Jacob hoping for only good things for you this yr.
You mention the Tsavo man eaters coming to life at night. Immediately after, you look at a mummy close up and a child making noise in the background has a much eerier effect than normal
I remember those moldoramas used to be 50 cents and only cost 50 cents to get in the field museum
Great Video!!
I could've went all day with you talking about the moth with a long toung and sticking it in my ear, thanks now I know what I'll dream about tonight. lol Still love the video, enjoy your videos, so keep up the great work.
