@@albertocarvalho8091 I appreciate the feedback brother, could you give me an example of where I talked about nothing. It would really help me in creating future videos
Thanks for letting us know you’re going to include pricing. For someone who’s looking to buy a Type R this year, getting this information is important to me
Hey my dude!!! Jesus here.... I just installed my AWE touring exhaust on my 19 fk8... she sounds super good.. 💯💯thanks for the recommendation.. I’m still waiting on some other bolt on’s from vivid racing that I saw on this video thanks again...
This is great. Thanks for showing the process for an e-tune. Still watching the video as I type this but it's something I've always wondered about! Great content as always.
Is funny cause we were driving up and down down the hwy, street tuning with them(we in New jersey)and the car is running an e20 mix ,is amazing what they can do all remotely from so far away, did 3 pulls from 2nd to 3rd and 2 from 3rd to 4th.These guys are the best on what they do.Had my laptop connected to my phone hotspot and that did it. Car is easily 410whp.I need a Hondata fuel system to get a higher mix of e85. There no way this engine not capable of doing 500hp with stock internals. Car runs beautiful and all this with the factory exhaust cause aftermarket ones don't do much for ya,is all noise.
Very interesting process! I knew that you could get an e-tune by sending in your pulls and having revisions sent back to you over and over until the tuner thinks it is done well enough, but this is something I have never seen.
Nice video man I’ll consider doing what you did as well with that tune, when you shift fast, do you ever get a 2nd gear grind I unfortunately do with mine
Especially with the torque from the turbo, I'd try shifting a quarter of a second earlier so you aren't hitting redline. It's hard initially because the tach seems to lag behind the real engine rpm pretty badly, so you have to sort of anticipate the shifts more than other cars.
Love your build man. Been following your build since before I got my type R this June. I might be getting a street tune by them as well but fired need to install my dp, ic , just installed flex fuel kit yesterday so can't wait to see how that feels once I get the blend in. Keep up the good content brotha!
Awesome video!! Great numbers , I’m excited to see you get the Hondata fuel kit, I just picked one up myself. I’d be interested in seeing a install video of the new Fuel kit.
I’m currently about to have a Jake Torres of JSR Engines in West Covina build my bottom end with Saenz tri beam rods rated for 800hp, JE Ultra pistons std size. I acquired a spare Type R head where he’ll install full Ferrea valve train, he has hand ported this head which he has done countless b series vtec heads with better results than some well known cnc heads out in the market in usable areas in the power curve. As for fuel I went the diy route and acquired the Ford Raptor di 1650cc injectors from Carid for less than $400. I will also be running a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0T mechanical fuel pump which Hondata has stated in a thread on Civicx flows more than the Type R high pressure mechanical fuel pump and was told to me by 4Piston that it is the pump being used in the upgraded Hondata fuel upgrade kit. I’ve already upgraded my fuel line to the mechanical fuel pump using -6an PTFE teflon lined stainless steel fuel lines, PTFE fittings and EFI quick disconnect adapters. I will be purchasing the soon to be released PRL P600 turbo ceramic bb cartridge drop in turbo.
2019 type R owner here and all I can think watching this is : no second gear grind? If I hurry the 1-2 shift too fast I can almost always get it to grind.
I’ve have the Powermetrics stage 2 tune with Daniel Butler. I’ve sent him multiple datalogs of wot runs where he has revised. It does take time due to to his work load. His stage 2 tune does require your R to have certain supporting mods like Flex Fuel, catless down pipe, front pipe, upgraded fmic. I had all this with the stock exhaust. In fact I just sent him a couple new data logs cause I just upgraded to a Fujitsubo ti exhaust which I’m waiting for him to read and give feedback to me. Either a new revision or he’ll tell me to do better wot runs or tell me if there’s an issue like one time he told me there was a boost leak which there was. A charge pipe silicone coupler had been rubbing against something and got cut significantly. I replaced that coupler and sent new datalogs where he revised again. I’ll also give him feedback like I wanted less wheel slip so he has revised that for me too. Daniel also enabled flat foot shifting where you’re able to shift without letting off the throttle, basically flooring the throttle pedal the whole time during wot runs. The car is very fast and running great.
great video. i like your explanations of time differences between the basemap tune and the custom tune. I also like your comparison of your times to honda's stock times. you mentioned doing flex fuel and then trying meth. Could you do both? I noticed that if you slip the clutch in first you get better 0-60 times but obviously you sacrifice the clutch. Another cool video would be getting one or two other tuners and compare the three custom tunes vs each other. Red star vs Innovative vs dream automotive would be interesting. Either way super cool.
How do you put up the display on the infotainment system. That show’s your coolant temp and intake temp? I’ve been like binge watching all your type r videos! Lol love your content. I just picked up my own 2021 civic type r. And i noticed on some of your videos. That you were able to get the display before u had hondata/ktuner
Damn, that’s awesome to see your video to do street tune up to see how Hondata give your Type R more power to run. Street tune up is good way to start first then do Dyno test to do correct tune up with your hp and torque to protect the engine blow up. You should video of your Type R on road after PRL Flex Fuel and titanium inlet pipe with the Dyno test done.
Ordered my PRL turbo inlet tube from Vivid racing on April 28th.... it will get here in August... So I doubt he has a turbo inlet tube... And if he does Tyler from vivid racing has ALOT of explainimg to do
Love the content man! Been following both channels for a bit! Just remember most ethanol in maricopa county is actually e54 also including Casa grande shitty e50 they get. The chevron on val vista and broadway is the only gas station with true e85. The owner even backs it up and will refund if it's not true e85.
won't do 60-120. not sure about a civic but ringing out 4th (when you were street tuning) is usually over 120. still pretty good from stock turbo with those numbers, impressed.

Hope to hear from you guys soon!
Good work on the 0 to 60 , I need to test mine , I'm almost FBO im using the stock box with a K&N filter but I'm using the hondata traction control ,made 383whp 263tq at 88° early afternoon with 93 octane but I need to retune again at cooler temperatures
I want a tune I have a few bolt ons exhaust etc. But I paid for all these warranties and honda told me even if i revert it back they will know i put a tune on it voiding everything.
You can get a Cloned ECU from Hondata, It's little pricey, but it allows you to tune the Cloned ECU while not touching the OEM ECU. Then when you have a warranty issue, just throw the OEM ECU back in
Yeah.... don't worry about shifting. The guys that got this car STOCK @ 4.9 power shift this car... and probably float shift it as well (not to mention perfect road conditions and can do as many passes as it takes but this is real world... not idealistic)... Plus they have the timer set @ 3 mile rollout, drag it both ways and taking the average, and finally making any adjustments for weather... so 4.9 isn't real world on the street driving. Float shifting takes a certain talent... not many people can do it... not many want to try. Not sure if this car can be float shifted... asynchronous transmission yada yada... but I would work on power shifting this car. Motortrend reported 5.4 sec ... that's with very good shifting.
You're reaching out of the car manufacturers specs that don't coincide with warranty :) If you like being under your hood all the time, or constantly tuning it ... why not? If you want reliability then leave it alone. Been around a lot of cases in which oil leaks start, timing issues, air fuel issues, spark plugs, error codes ... list goes on and on for all different types of setups and cars... and I'm talking about bolt-ons and out of the box/custom tunes... nothing major.
I was running e30 for a month and car runs nice, engine runs cooler and smoother, starmotoring did my street tuning today and we had to drop the ethanol down to 20 in order to increase boost levels. You need a sensor connected to hondata in order to run any e85 mix. Im sure i can run this car 100k+ miles without any issues,NOT worried about any bigger repairs not covered under warranty.
Just to be safe with the laptop battery life not kicking out at the wrong time get a Voltage converter there cheap just an opinion to be safe very informative video thanks
Thanks for this video. Very informative and awesome results. I looking for a company to tune my R for me as well. Running basemap here. Will definitely look into Redstar motoring 👍
I love this car to death and had a semi built 99 Civic back in my college days. End of the day I prefer my dual clutch Hybrid SUV. Electric power gives me the same launch 9/10 times. Thanks for the upload!
Use a 12v to 110v converter plugged in to your cig lighter so you don’t have to worry about your laptop battery going 💀. I need to buy a Draggy module. If your in Socal you can go to Irwindale ti datalog on their 1/8th mile track.
Hmmm, that’s weird, because I was hitting 4.8seconds 0-60mph on my MK7 GTI manual with only a tune and downpipe, at 4500ft elevation and 90 degree weather lol. Now my car is faster 🙂
TORQ Toolbox Thanks man! I highly appreciate that! I subbed back! I run just simple 91oct, and my tires are 245/35 19 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S +’s (only because I live in a 4 season state, and I can’t afford to have a dedicated summer and winter setup 😢). Does the CTR have anything to help prevent that wheel hop from the start? Like a dogbone Mount? I would’ve thought the CTR would get a faster 0-60mph time, even in the real world...
I think Nissan could do better for 0-60 test.(but, after 60 it becomes slower!!!) I currently own 2007 G35S(my son), 2010 M35X(my wife) and 2017 GSF(myself). The best time for G was 5.07(4 years ago, 306hp, 100K miles), for M was 5.82(6 years ago, 306hp, 30K miles) and for GSF was 4.93(1.5 years ago, 5K miles). I also tested a loaner 2019 Q60(300hp, 5K miles). It was 5.2. And, a rental 2018 M4(competition, 22K miles). It was 5.05. Right! I'm very surprised about how fast G35S was... I think it was finally break-in(still NO oil consumption) after 100K miles!!! (Maybe not... because I've never done any test on it again since 100K miles) PS: All the tests were done at the same location and similar condition with T/C ON!!!
What's your thoughts on the 0-60 results?
Also links for the Build List are in the Video Description.
