Tip - Next time in a town get a head bug net for like $10 , goes over a hat and covers past neck.

So much wildlife! Thank you for taking the time to memorialize all these critters on video. You will enjoy seeing them years in the future. Well, not so much the mosquitoes, maybe. ;-). I am amazed at how cheerful you remain even with sore and painful feet.....and mosquito bites. You redefine 'intrepid'. :-)

I follow you religiously, because not only do you make me laugh, but your videos also cover so much more than just walking. Scenery, lizards fighting, marmots, all things nature. I would like to see more in camp. Dinner. Setting up tent. That kind of stuff. Keep truckin girl, take care of your feet and for goodness sake, get some bug spray!!! Or a head net!

Marmots got into my friend's pack and ate his granola while we were sleeping. I seldom cowboy camped because of the damned mosquitoes up there. Too bad you don't carry 3 pairs of socks, easier to keep your feet dry. You really need to change out your sleeping bag if it doesn't keep you warm Starburst.

Looks like you got a lot of mileage. Very rocky and a lot of water crossings. Good job! Be safe!!! The moon rising was a cool shot. Keep up the good work. Enjoy!

Jennifer (Starburst), I'm posting this a month late, so you probably have already fixed your foot problem, but for others, you appear to have a serious case of foot fungus, which you may have had for a while. Smelly feet is one of the symptoms. An early symptom is itching. Peeling in areas that have not been abraded is another. I don't do a great deal of hiking, but I do get foot fungus easily, so I think my guess about your issue is correct. A few days using Clotrimazole clears it up for me. I have to avoid letting my feet stay wet for more than a couple of hours, but you are leaving yours wet for days (and hiking on them with dirt in your shoes and socks).

Fantastic footage of the JMT. Just beautiful. I feel your pain! I'm nursing about 30 mosquito bites from being in Lassen and Crater Lake N Ps . I rubbed bug spray all over my body, sprayed myself and my clothes, etc. I have a bite near one eye that swelled up so bad it nearly closed my eye, and about 6 bites on my bum! How in the hell?? They even bit me through my clothes?! Taking mass quantities of Benadryl! Cheers, girl!

Agree totally with you on the bear canister. Blockheads ignore the rules but they are clueless about the effects of their actions.
BTW married to a wonderful lady who used to be Backcounty Guard for the Forest Service. I introduced her to backpacking and she always kicked my butt on the trail.

Starburst "Dolittle",,, Here it come's,again... I learned many moons ago.."take care of your feet, and they will take care of you!!" Check out Jason's advice,,good solid list.. and personally I think terrain like that with lots of rock hopping should be done with good quality hiking boots for stable ankle support, but that's my gripe with many hikers...they don't have to be 10lb. alpiners,,there are a lot of choices in lightweights too..to me trail runners are just that,,day in the park on flat dirt trails...Love the shots of the rushing waterfalls and your keen eye on spotting wildlife..pretty rare to see a marmot that comfortable to be near a human..maybe it's just you..all the gang in the forest heard you were coming by.....Stay Safe and God Bless....

Little lady you have to take care of your feet or it WILL take you off the trail. I know it adds extra weight but it sucks when on trail and you have foot problems.
    Foot powder
    3 pair sock liners
    1 pair sleeping socks
    3 pair hiking socks
    Mole skin
    Duct tape.
    Antibacterial cream and or spray.
    Nail clippers
    Nail file.
    Needle and thread

    • @aeropilot4419

Jason - I agree, a little more foot equipment would be better, I usually carry three pairs of socks and will have one rinsed out drying on the back of the pack, one pair on my feet and the other pair in the pack staying dry

Jason - I appreciate your ideas. As a female I despise being called "little lady", it's condescending.

    • @jhosk
      @jhosk 6 років тому +1

MommaKitty Hiking where I am from calling someone little lady is a term of endearment and respect. It can be used as scolding but generally isn't, an example is a greeting "good morning little lady, how you this fine Texas day?"

I was going to fuss at you about taking care of your feet; but everyone has already done that; so learn from us and avoid the consequences. Don't sweat the few ounces. I always took a pair of wading slippers also for grip. The head net is worth it also. Just sayin' sweetie.
Others have also noticed your video skills as have I. Really well done. Take care & Happy Trails.

You gotta watch out for those “little” thieving marmots. They act all cute and cuddly and then when you aren’t watching....bam!! They jump on your pack and try to steal everything! P.s. didn’t happen to me but I was sitting eating lunch with some people and this marmot jumped on this girls pack and tried digging in it. But I did have one of the smaller ground squirrel things play with my pants that I had drying out. It ran down the pant leg. I didn’t wear them the next day but luckily this happened at guitar lake and I only had 1 more day left

Sounds like you do care if the are female. Why bring it up then. And yes, everyone should follow ALL the rules established by the forestry service. They work hard and always have to deal with that "one" person. I have had to go out of my way to tell people to put out campfires, quit chopping at trees, and not to parking in "overnight parking only" because there are no other spots.
