    Jacksonville, Fla. - UPDATE, 2/18/2021: Judge Jeb Branham has accepted Lee Rodarte’s guilty plea.
    Rodarte, the suspect in 2017 killing of Savannah Gold, has submitted a guilty plea to 2nd degree murder with negotiated sentence of 40 years.
    His sentencing set for March 11 at 2 p.m.

      My sympathies lie with Savannah and her family and friends, not Rodarte. He made choices which placed him where he is. Not even seeing his distress on the police investigation video engendered sympathy for his plight, but instead caused me to feel the panic and terror Savannah must surely have felt as she tried desperately to escape the beating she received at Rodarte's hands.
      What a sniveling coward to try to blame a 5ft tall, 95 lb girl who had no weapon and was no threat to him.

    What’s the likelihood of someone with no history of violent behavior, not only killing someone (for any reason) but then taking the body away to burn, and placing the remains into water? That’s going really far beyond impulsive behavior.
    Humans are a scary bunch.

    • @mistym0rning
      @mistym0rning 4 роки тому +58

      Well, I believe the killing can be extremely impulsive, basically like something snapped and the person went into uncontrollable rage or something along those lines.... and what they do AFTER in order to cover it up is often because panic sets in and they know they did something horrendous, and the consequences if they get caught is that their life would basically be ruined. So I do think that’s sort of (a twisted kind of) self-preservation at that point.
      It’s scary to think about, but I think many of us might react way shadier than we’d like to believe if we ever committed an impulsive act of violence or did something such as drunk driving and hitting someone.

      >no history of violent behavoir
      That might be true, but I believe Rodarte's sister was also incidently found guilty of physical violence in a motor vehicle.
      No individual is identical to their family, obviously, but psychological factors like impulsivity and agression can be inheirited.

    • @christopherg9806
      @christopherg9806 3 роки тому +13

      Lizbet PCB, I'm not a psychologist, but I suspect that most people who have no history of violence who then commit murder have a number of subtle warning signs or personality traits leading to the murder. Willingness to lie to cover their mistakes, justifying bad behavior by blaming others, etc.

      It's not a legal defense but an explanation of why he committed this murder. Most murders are impulsive. Teen males are the most impulsive people on earth so one who is carrying a gun is as dangerous as a Lion loose on the streets. This murder was planned and not impulsive IMO. I think an example of an impulsive murder is when someone gets in a rage over an insult or a perceived slight and reacts by shooting their victim. This murderer drove to the place where he knew she would appear at a certain time then lured her into his car and most likely strangled her. That fact indicates a planned event. In either case he his not in control of his emotions. I would love to know his background.

    • @Meanie74
      @Meanie74 3 роки тому

      The murder was impulsive and the hiding of the murder panic. It doesn’t really change the fact he’s a murderer who attacked and killed a woman bc she threatened his job. He’s nearly just as bad as if he planned it, and definitely as dangerous.

Even people that don’t commit the actual murders are scarier than this guy. I do think he definitely regrets it, more on his part but I think he felt bad for her. Your merch is so lit Dr Grande. Saving my coins so I can finally have my alien lizard moment. I followed this case. I hated how he tried to blame her, blame her addiction problems, and even claim self defense against this tiny young woman, when he knew good and well what he’d done. I guess I just feel for this poor girl because I know what it’s like to work in a restaurant, as I’m a server in one myself, and to become involved with a co-worker in a toxic relationship... it’s hard to get away from them when you have to see them at work every day. And it doesn’t help that when you work in a restaurant environment especially, everyone is in everyone’s business... secrets don’t exist... and rumors run rampant. It’s just so sad because she had no idea that this drama at work over their relationship would lead to her demise. But hey, if Chris Watts can become a cook in prison, I’m sure this loser stands a chance, right?... although I doubt they’ll issue him a chef coat... 👨🏽‍🍳

      Maybe because we have no idea what she did or said that caused him to snap. Was she cheating? Pregnant? Threatening to leave him? Threatening to blackmail him? High on drugs and irrational? Did she attack him, verbally or physically? Sure, none of these things justify murder, but they could explain what happened. He lost it, and now his life is over.

      @@victoriajohnson4420 Maybe she was breaking up with him for good. She was pretty and younger and maybe wanted to get her life together which didn't involve him. Regardless of what she said to him though, I dunno if he deserves sympathy for choosing to tightly strangle her while she did what she could to save her life. I mean then he slashed her tire, burned her body and texted as her to her family. Imagine being them. He lost it because he was probably a calm ticking time bomb. A lot of bottling up, even before her. She might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. It's unfortunate her feelings for him guided her into the car, and it's also unfortunate he decided to go through with every single bad idea he had once he most likely wasn't getting his way.

    • @victoriajohnson4420
      @victoriajohnson4420 3 роки тому +5

      @@aiku111 Anyone deserves sympathy when a single act ruins their entire life. We can never know what combination of genetics, early environment, abuse, head trauma, drugs, mental illness, or myriad of other factors puts a person in that time and place, where they "choose" to react a certain way. This case shows no evidence of being premeditated. It sounds like pure, blind rage, which is extremely hard to control. Apparently, he was triggered by something that she said, or did, or reminded him of. As his girlfriend, she probably knew all of his buttons, and what to say to really hurt him. People do this to other people all of the time.
      So yes, I do feel sympathy for him, because I stop and look at the possible reasons he did it, and don't just concentrate on what he did. I also feel sympathy for the woman and her family, who obviously had their lives ruined as well. It is possible to care about both the murderer and the murdered. Whatever happened, it was an unfortunate event for everyone concerned.

And you seem to have based this opinion on the statement of a known liar and killer, not the best rationale in my mind. She held that job for a long period and her autopsy showed no signs of drugs in her system, not the best signs of an addict.
