I have long legs, have always had problems finding pants and maxi skirts I like, long enough. So even though I haven't been sewing long, I wanted to make my own. I found simple, easy patterns for flowy skirts and wide legged pants and started making my own. Jumpers never seem to fit me right, and I rarely find dresses long enough. I started adding wide lace or a coordinating fabric to the bottom of long dresses. Now, with your idea, I'm hoping to adapt a few long dresses to make jumpers. I'm really excited! Thanks so much!!!

Well, it looks simple enough, I like the idea of doing the wide leg versions.
Any tips for making sure it fits the thighs if we're voluptuous?
I guess just make sure there is enough material to wrap around the thigh, then pin and mark the fabric. Make sure there is enough movement to be comfortable (lift legs, squat, bend over). If it is fitted, I guess just make sure the fabric is stretchy enough to accommodate. I can imagine for larger thighs, making sure you can fit through the neck hole might be a bit of a challenge, so also consider installing a zipper in the back for ease of wear.
Take ur fav pants, fold it like the pattern shape and make sure the cut can fit ur fav pants.
Try it on inside out and mark out the crotch and thigh area

If anyone tries this make sure you are making it really wide and slouchy or else you’re gonna have bunching at the crotch… if you get some bunching you could fold at the crotch to make the new seams meet and take it in a bit… good luck!

I don't know her personal reasoning, but objectively it looked way too voluminous on her small frame. I don't think it's about the skirt being a bad style in general, just not a good one for her.
