Thank you for this valuable knowledge.
Great video. Thanks for the info. Do you think a Mac Studio is too much computer for beginning to intermediate editing?
really really appreciated useful information . thanks a bunch
I’m a victim to purchasing a Mac book pro m3 128Gb 4Tb storage I found it in the refurb section though so I did save some money and my brother works at apple so I got an extra 15% off. But still stung hard and now I realize I don’t even need all that power doing my light editing and design. Oh well better to have it and not need it plus it’s future proof in a way I guess. I’m enrolled in your course and am enjoying it! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
what pouch are you using to stick your SSD to back side of your MacBook screen? 😮 Looks good
I went in for 128gb Ram on the m3. I'm editing a full length feature film in 5K. But the caches being generated are horrendous. And then the computer glitches out till I delete all the caches manually which are upto 100 GB ram. Crazy as fcpx is not able to efficiently manage it. But as long as you know how to delete the generated files I'm finding 128 GB is helping me out big time.
What MacBook do you recommend for editing 4k slog-3 sony footage with colour grading? I have an rtx 2060 super with ryzen 5 3600x and its good. But want to get a laptop for traveling thats why asking?
My base model mbp M2 edits 4k clog 3 easily.
If you upgrade to 32gb Ram, you'll be more than fine.
Battery lasts for quite sometime as well.
any particular laptop you would recommend for autodesk maya.....currently looking at an alienware m18
Quick question. Are intel arc graphics (especially in laptop, I believe they are integrated graphics) similar to M series where it is a system on chip as in the cpu and gpu are in one chip?
Also how good is it for video editing?
Useless for anything other then browsing the internet
Former Apple user. Only left because cost to build a computer and edit video made more sense the PC route. Upgrading to keep up is far cheaper too. My phone is the last hook Apple has in me.
If you know how to build PC is definitely a great route.
What about intel evo laptops like Lenovo yogo 9i? Lenovo Thinkpad
Thank you very much for this very interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What do you think of the yoga pro 9i compared to the xps?
Hi bruh im gonna hold money for m4 pro but i will only be able to buy 18gb ram one since apple products in my country are way more expensive base m3pro 18 gb model is of 2400 dollar
Will 18gb varient will be enough for video editing thats my main need i want to use photoshop davinchi resolve and few other editing software mainly for my yt video purpose?
Thanks for this video
Its very informative.
So nice of you!
Is a 16` macbook pro 1tb m2 max 38 gpu cores and 32gb ram worth it for 2850€ i need a powerfull macbook for the next +5years and i think it would be the best option to work with 4k footage and a lot animations with premiere and after effects, what do you think?
Yes that’s a good deal
Get the m3pro 32gb
Hello
I have created a youtube Channel and am planing to shoot with an iphone so now i am looking up to buy the new HUAWEI D16 2024 i5 12450H ( 8 BG RAM & 512 ROM ) with 2 GB GRAPHIC CARD.
Please i want to know if i can buy it for my beginings ????
As for Mac “reliability” eh!
My 2018 MacBook Pro BRICKED on an O/S upgrade… never had that happen with a PC since I bought my first Compaq back in 1984!
Fortunately, I had contacted Apple Support and got a ticket that quoted Apple “tech” saying “no problem” before the install… they replaced my ‘brick’ but I doubt they would have done so had I not called before…
Reliable?
Great video, which software do you use now? Premiere Pro or Davinci?
Premiere mainly

Mine is DELL inspiron 16 2-in-1, FIngerprinrt, 16:10-inch with FHD(1920X1200) Touch display, Ram=16GB storage = 512GBSSD, GPU of 7GB, with CPU of 12th-Geninter corei7 -1260P with 12 cores and speed of 2.10GHz, what recommendation or comment you give me bro
Would you recommend the new Ipad pro? I like the idea of just using the screen with the pen or connecting the keyboard to it when needed. Looking at the specs, and considering what you said, looks like they are topping these expectations, with 9-10 CPU cores, 10GPU, but it does come down on the RAM to 8 or 16GB.
For basic editing I think it’s a solid machine but you will definitely get limited by that ram if you try to ramp up your editing and get more serious over time
can i use my dell 3310 for video editing
Thank you
So well-explained and put together not just for video editing but buying computers in general, I think. I would recommend your video to any of my friends who don't know much about laptops or are deciding between PC and Mac. Nice work!
Hi bro your killing it !! Do you need a video editor bro? I can do a sample vid
Hi , I hesitate between a MacBook Air M3 with 24 gig of RAM or a M2 MacBook Pro with 16 gig of ram because they come at the same price , what is the best for video editing ( Pr and Ae ) , I’m scared that the M3 air would be throttled by the lack of fan
Thanks for this great video too !
Pro is an exceptionally good machine. At the same price point, I would definitely go for the pro. 200$ more and push yourself to get the higher RAM version of the M2 pro. 200$ in the long run is nothing.
Edit : unless you're making very high level videos, in which case you don't need the Air in the first place.
@@nasdoc1 but the M3 air with 24gb of ram is doing wonders than some M2 pro’s with less ram. The M3 chip is a beast .
MacBook Air m1 with 16gb RAM and 512SSD minimum. Great travel workhorse. 15 inch MBA seems to be a great option too but haven't used it yet. Also for LONG TERM USE..without plugging... you can't beat a Mac.
Agreed, I've seen people edit 8k on an m1, is that even possible...
I bought a laptop for work a few months ago. Great for getting things done on the go, but if I tried using it for editing, the thing would absolutely catch fire.
What laptop did you get?
What was the spec?
Awesome video! Just a question is the link for the Asus vivobook still valid ? AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS Processor, 24GB RAM, 2TB SSD? I was thinking of buying it but it had so few reviews I was Ted to make sure . Thanks again and keep up the great work
Yes, it is
@@MrPaulXavier Thanks a lot... SUPER stupid question... In your educated opinion could this laptop handle Comfy IU/ stable diffusion?
I’m honestly not an expert on those so I wouldn’t want to give you an incorrect answer!
What are reputable sources to buy used Mac notebooks from?
I’ve had good luck on Amazon refurbished and fb marketplace
From a professional standpoint, it really boils down to 3 laptops.
A) Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch or 16-inch.
B) Asus ProArt 16-inch.
C) Lenovo Yoga Pro 16-inch.
Yoga pro was on my list to, amd 8845hs and rtx 3050, going quite cheap nowadays, but with all the new ai talk and the elite Snapdragon coming out next month, I might hold off for a few weeks. Ideally I'd like a m4 but that's another year or so away
great vid, which laptop for 6-8k casual editing?
You casually edit 6k and 8k footage!?
@@MrPaulXavier haha yes, my wife wanted a insta360 for our holiday, had a great time filming everything, Arrived back only to find my laptop couldn't even open a video. By casually, I meant I won't be doing editing as a profession, just for home use, so if I have to wait another 10 seconds for something, is not a big deal. Everyone's saying to pick up a M3 max, but that thing is pretty pricey, I'm trying to find just enough hardware to get the job done. I also need to upgrade my laptop.
Ahh ok that makes more sense haha - if you could spring for an older generation M MacBook I think that would do great. Like a 32 gigabyte m2 for example
Is an M3 air 16gb a good laptop for casual editing, part time editing and not heavy stuff ?
Yes absolutely!
I feel like I should take back my 18GB laptop and go to 36GB, M3 pro chip, while I’m within my 14 days, haven’t even opened the box, problem is they have to custom make it and I travel for work… Would take me a long time to get it…
Hey Anthony, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made.
I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Hey I’m looking to start making videos looking for a collaboration
The specs of the computer i'm interested are these
I9
32GB Ram
Gforce 4060 (8 VRAM)
1 TB
2K resolution 240hz
I intend in working with freelance video editing and also a youtube channel focused in gaming (AAA focused) the brand is Avell (Local brand here in brazil, it has a good reputation)
Anyone have observations to make? right now i'm really not sure about 32 and 64 ram... It is quite expensive in this case to pay for 64.
Edit: another version
I've consideribly reduced the price by having and I7, 4050 (But 6Vram instead of 8) and 1080 resolution instead of 2k, all of that for 64 ram is it worth it?
That will definitely serve you well
An i9 in a laptop is completely pointless. The power requirements and heat output means that you'd realistically get better performance in 99% of tasks with an i7, for typically cheaper. Even highly threaded workloads don't benefit. I'd save the money and see if you can get more memory.

I do more photo editing and occasionally edit videos. What is ideal cpu, gpu, and ram would be for me? Also for my work, i have to do some programming. Are apple products okay for coding and ML/data Analysis work? Or are PCs better for that?
Choosing Mac or windows is your option.
But i personally prefer windows laptops for their upgradability factor.
You'll do just fine with an m1 chip with apple.
And an i7 and rtx 4060 in windows
Always choose higher cpu compared to GPU
As mostly these are cpu bound tasks
**Aso if you're writing huge lines of code and working with ML x86 ( Intel / AMD )CPUs tend to be good**
Is lenovo yoga 7 suitable for video editing?
Yes
We are comparing different arquitectures here Arm vs X86, Apple uses Arm and windows pcs use X86, just wait for the new Arm laptops with Snapdragon X elite inside and then you can compare apple laptops... but the problem here is that majority of windows software is based on x86 aquitecture and they have to change that to arm too, or emulation on top of it.
Waiting for the budget part
Superb
don't forget to check the monitor color gamut/accuracy. it should at least 100% RGB . 100% DCI P3 is better
Yes, I was considering Mac until I realized they don't even reach 95%. I was shocked.

Unfortunately my experience with DELL has been only negative with all the problems I have had. It’s slow and problems with keyboard. My Apple desktop too is very slow. I had great run with HP Envy so far. I am now replacing DELL with HP 14” laptop with 32 gB memory and 1 TB HDD and a separate graphic card. Hope it runs without hassles.
I would really suggest getting a laptop with SSD internal storage not HDD. HDD drives will slow down the speed at which you can edit.

Didn't mention the fact that PCs are no good with the H265 codec. Apple is better at it as the codec is built in. Sure, you can "download" H265 codec but in my experience they never really work well. I guess a lot of this depends on whether the software that you use has the codec built in.
I never have problem with h265 on my machine.
I also forgot to mention most editing software is single thread 🤷🏻♂️

Totally disagree…
My main Laptop is for WORK that pays me money 💰 to afford to play around with Video editing - that has always been Windows running on a PC running on a highend Dell (at a fraction of the cost of the Apple ego-system!)
But I bought the MacBook Pros - specifically - for Video and Audio editing to keep everything… separate!
Now, if Apple tries to charge a subscription for FCPX, then I’ll switch to DaVinci but - still - on a SEPARATE PC laptop… already bought an Asus with an OLED screen for fine tuning Color-grades but haven’t needed it yet!
The idea that you need (or even want) everything on ONE PC is passe (and I’m in my 60s having played with PCs to Mainframes all my Life)
I want the best-bang for video GPS buck to edit Video… and I don’t need that for 99% of what I do to make a living (yet)
Funny - I am a video creator online - I don't use an Apple - and I was trained on an Apple in College back in 2007 with final cut pro. However - I am buying 2 - M3 pro computers for my grand kids going to college with 16 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage - that will cost me $2,000 each.

"Apple has complete control over every aspect of their hardware and their software" Says this like it's a feature....keep drinking the Kool-Aid my friend.
There’s two sides to every coin my friend. I don’t see how anyone could look at Apple performance back with intel versus Apple performance now with their own tech and say it wasn’t an upgrade…
I just wasted 19 minutes of my life waiting for other brands to be mentioned and not just Apple.

Step number 1.... NEVER buy a laptop for video editing. 2... See number 1.
We run a multi-million dollar content studio editing almost exclusively from laptops...
@@MrPaulXavier .... multi-million.... so stupid people can make money. Making your editors work on garbage doesn't speak well about you.
Boomer?
Haha I really don't think what you're saying makes sense. We have laptops with insanely fast CPUs, 64GB of ram, awesome GPUs that can easily be plugged into external monitors to get the screen real estate of a desktop but the portability of a laptop. I'm guessing you haven't tried editing on a modern laptop recently.
Also what a funny use of your time to watch a video specifically on video editing laptops when you clearly already were convinced of the fact that laptops are a waste of time...
@@MrPaulXavier Every few years someone makes a viable Frankenstein laptop. There is simply nothing in a laptop that is going to touch a Threadripper Pro with one or two RTX A6000's.
Hmm...I thought this was a 2024 buyers guide for Mac and PC. Guess I was wrong. Now if I could only get my 20 minutes back.
Not sure what you're saying, we made very specific recommendations for macs and PCs...?
Ok,so this is a commercial for overpriced Apple machines and then pay for some course...I guess when money does not matter or I want to seem cool,I will lose my sense of logic and buy ONE laptop for $5000-7000. The ONLY things they babble about is that Apple let's you have 599 hours of battery time, is lighter, since creators are now weak toddlers. There are so many outlets everywhere, on the bus I am taking this week, in airports/planes/trains, and I will carry my 17 inch monster with no hospital visits, not to mention it costs less than half of the Macbook. COURSE???? Why not just head to B&H or the local spots and take a FREE workshop,or ask questions???So you mean to tell me someone can sell me a $5000/7000 laptop yet cannot give me an editing class???
That’s funny the one major argument we make about macs, you fail to mention here. Apple silicon is revolutionary without a doubt. Everyone who has used it agrees they changed the landscape for computing. Also 5000-7000!? You need to check current prices. You do not need to spend that much at all to get an editing machine. Also if you want a free editing course checkout our channel before you complain. I have a handful of in depth editing tutorials that people have said are the best videos on editing they’ve ever seen
@@MrPaulXavier
How feminine of a response, complete with the ASSUMPTION I do not like Macs, which I do.I love the logical fallacies and the total garbage about Apple Silicon, blah blah blah. First of all Apple is on a DECLINE and the only reason that decline is not worse is because Appleheads are cult followers, even with those silly phones they make. It's the Apple people running around saying STOOPID stuff like that phone they buy every year is 'better' than my Note, even though it has NONE of the features like IR Blaster. Revolutionary to sell the same phone each year?
Revolutionary? What is Revolutionary about long battery life, lighter, and runs cooler when you charge $5000-7000+??? That's like telling me your Audi TT is more revolutionary than my HellCat.I can buy 3 of the laptop I have and a i9 workstation for less than ONE $7000 laptop, and run all sorts of projects at the same time. I can work on sound design, edit 4K, render , and do live music projects/streaming for less. With all that I also have the added benefit of redundancy, which you never mentioned, which is probably more important than the machines themselves.
Yes, you can back them up to drives, and I use WD externals, yet for true professionals,. there's NEVER just one machine.I do have Macs, the older ones i can OPEN and maintain/upgrade, because I do not believe in being a sucker, unable to take care of things without exorbitant prices from 'possibly' qualified techs. Oh you wanna go toe to toe and say I was complaining? First of all, princess, I have no complaints because I live in NYC and I can go TONS of places to get FREE editing courses from the BEST IN THE BUSINESS, in the REAL WORLD ,not the YT world. I also have the option of learning and sharing with local people, like musicians and studio heads who are work in the real world. In other words I can totally SKIP the Internet and experience a REAL life, and I do.
I am sure your course is amazing, yet I just do not NEED it. In fact I have SGIs, SUN, Mac, PC, and my own IT/music studio, and I own it all, along with over 20k records since I DJ FOR REAL. HOMIE, there is NO argument and if you want to dance about Macs, argue with Rossman, who has fixed THOUSANDS of overpriced Macs over DECADES and exposed Apple. ALL you are doing is defending a machine you bought and use, and you do NOT own a part of Apple.
It's a machine, and a tool. Since you live in YT he is right there, since you think you know so much. You cannot rattle me just because you did not like me mentioning that people can get information without some YT fueled course. I did not say they suck I just do not see the point of spending $5000 and then MORE money to learn to use it. If anything Apple needs to GIVE you a coupon or a live course , yet we both know Apple does not give a sh$$$.That's exactly why Rossman exposed them and why Asus is getting exposed lately. Have a nice day and move along.
Oh my goodness. I’m sorry my response bothered you so much. I was just pointing out the area of your comment I felt was missing. I’m sorry the free value we try to put together on UA-cam bothered you so much. Hopefully our future videos will fall in line with your opinions.
@@MrPaulXavier Debate ME with FACTS and nothing less.I can care less about some random man's feelings because he feels he must defend a machine that he bought.Value on YOuTUBE will increase when MEN practice being logical, and not using logical fallacies instead to paint a narrative. My man... I'm truly sorry this debate has irritated you so much, I'd love to watch a video you make on the topic comparing the different machines, I'm always open to learning more and I'd approach watching your video with an open mind, but it doesn't look like you post any content on your channel, instead you comment negatively on other people's content who are trying to provide free value, and then continue to waste your time debating strangers on the internet.
