It's actually quite different from the album version too. Like bruford isn't doing any of the hihat work that is so iconic on this track, instead riding on a small tom it looks like?
Man- you can really hear the influence these guys had on Tool huh. The way he's cross picking those arpeggios- the odd timing signature, the way the bass is playing almost the same thing but not quite- Tool utilizes all this stuff. They're the metal version of King Crimson.
1:13 is a fun bit. Pretty sure the electric pad is meant to be a sampled snare. Instead, it is a "Doo doo doo doo". Then frantically changing the patch and missing a snare hit coming back in. Smoothly done though, with added eyebrow raise. 😏😏😏
My dad saw Adrain belew in concert this year and he’s still incredible. My dads also the one who introduced me to king crimson and this is my favorite song by them. Incredible guitar work
The wild man and the sage, with cosmic Chapman and percussion overlays. To this day I can't believe how little the world seems to know about some of the most incredible music ever created, IMO. God bless brothers and sisters. T
It's a combination of 3 techniques- cross picking, arpeggios, and odd time signatures. Get good at those 3 things and you've got it. Tool kind of picked up where these guys left off if you're interested- they're what happens if King Crimson decides to go metal.
@@stoneysdead689 lmao my playlists have been filling with prog metal and 70s jazz fusion. Honestly this is the style that fucks the hardest. The mixture of really tightly woven rhythms with sequential riffs written at varied intensities. Fuck yeah fucking rock
I saw King Crimson around this time. Here in Seattle at a gorgeous theater called The Paramount from the 1920s. Fantastic acoustics which allowed us to hear every nuance of this unbelievably talented band I have to say that Adrian Belew seemed like a kid up on stage he was so playful and happy. Robert Fripp was so dang serious it was almost funny! Adrian would walk over to Fripp and do something crazy to try and get him to smile but I don't know if he ever did that was a long time ago! Thanks for the upload!

I still don't quite understand how this song was not released as a single....it's their single best song and catchy as hell from this era of KC. They probably would've made loads of money off of this if it was a single back then. Instead it's much more of an underground hit, which is ok as well. One of those diamonds you might come across by accident or chance.
My favourite era of King Crimson. They had a similar trajectory to Pink Floyd. Started out a bit chaotic and juvenile and became a well oiled machine far far ahead of where they began. Clearly tunes like this are why Tool exists. Completely original stuff
In the middle of learning this on guitar and these tabs seem a little wacky. Does anyone know if they are playing in new standard tuning at this point or nah? Cuz I'm watching Adrian and its not what the tabs are
All these comments fail to mention the brilliance of the lyrics and the psychology of women because it causes relationship problems. Her menstrual cycle causing her schizophrenia plagues the man as in all male female relationships.
I'm always impressed by how Adrian manages to deliver his vocals perfectly and effortlessly while playing such a complex guitar part.
He’s a genius!
Sí, es un tema endiablado para tocar en la guitarra, pero cantar al mismo timpo....
@@fernandomarmol4758 y nunca parece esforzarse! siempre sonriendo y disfrutando... ! un verdadero genio.
Like musical machines. you know you're bad ass when you sound better or just as good live. Insane amount of talent on the stage

Ive played guitar for 30 years and i have no idea how they can do this..brilliant.!!!!!!
And they're playing and singing at the same time, yet they make it seem so effortless
Discipline! I also thought it was impossible before
Adrian’s part isn’t that hard. Fripps on the other hand…
We are all so indisciplined
@@Daz912 I struggled even playing AB’s part. Then sing while doing that riff. Unreal.
I love how Bill has the wrong trigger sound activated at 1:13... changes it real quick and then gives Tony the raised eyebrows. Whoopsie daisy!
That was awesome :D
BWOOP WOOPWOOPWOOP
Criminally underrated song.
My two fav tracks are this one and Frame by frame
@@antonstefanov2146 Frame by Frame is soooo good!
A master piece...
My favorite King Crimson lineup.
Almost as good as Wetton, Bruford and the other one
adrian’s facial expressions make me so happy
3:26 i love this performance they seem like they are having so much fun
he just got the ultimate high lol
I really love that moment where Bruford triggers the wrong sample going into the first chorus. I think that was actually the right sample.
Yeah, he seems a bit confused and miss the first snare hit and then he's like 'Eh, it's the right one"
Rest in peace my beloved brother I remember you with this great song

agreed
This could be very possible. Crimson were innovators for sure. I love bruford.
Haha joke. Tool is nowhere near as technical as the KC. I love tool a lot, but that's the truth.
@@_S._S._ no one said they’re as technical but it’s obvious that Tool is heavily influenced by kc.

Just so brilliant and original,NOTHING ELSE like the genius that this version of the band made! Frame by frame also an all time classic!!
Such a fantastic groove, outstanding musicianship !
KC and Rush just nailed the studio versions of their songs live, insane difficulty

To play such odd signatures smiling and singing along. You gotta know your shit.
Amazing
Maravilloso..una de mis canciones favoritas de su repertorio..😊😊😊
Masterpiece!

1:13 boop woop woop woop 😂
Sensational.
Not an Easy song to play on Guitar, Adrian Belew plays it without tinking of is play, Robert Fripp the same. Next level guitarist
素敵な三位一体の賛歌。
It's a shame how Bill Bruford has flown so under the radar. One of the best rock drummers that ever lived
Really? I feel like he's revered!
SNARE TONE
When you're in a band that's so technically proficient it means you don't stand out. Bruford is very highly regarded however.
Remarkable! Saw them twice on this tour. Outstanding! 🎸😎👍
