There is no news about the PU project since at least a year ago. That news wasn't stellar. From Mercedes, Ferrari and RBPT there is sometimes a sliver of good news. Porsche wasn't interested really and now I start questioning, did Audi want really or did they want what Porsche was promised? The FOM (Domenicali ex VW (Lamborghini) executive) wants WV in F1 and preferable Porsche for their heritige in motorsports. Audi does have heritige in F1 as Auto-Union. I don't understand why that isn't exploited in marketing.
Presumeble Andretti was asked to join F1 at the same point in time as Haas. Gene Haas said yes in a time with no budgetcaps and ATR allocations. Andretti wants to join on the cheap now and is pegged back.
F1 (FOM) does want America but not neccecery an Ametican team. American sponsor money is sufficient.

Porsche was interested. They just wanted more control over RBPT than RB wanted to give up. It never made much sense anyway. When Audi has its own team and engine what’s the point of Porsche since both brands are owned by VW anyway?

What was the point of Audi and Porsche competing against eachother in WEC and more specific Le Mans? Porsche never was interested in F1 anyway. The credelibility of Porsche comes with sportscars and not F1. Pprsche only wanted F1 if it could be done on their terms and their terms only. Audi was more compliant in that and the went with a long term backmarker and a second hand PU project (Porsche). F1 wanted Pprsche and got the other VW brand. This brand however has more credebility in GP racing than Porsche has. Audi once was called Auto-Union.

I dont understand why Audi keeps creating drama. I understand, their road cars may be selling slightly worse than expected, but it's a massive car company in the massive VW group. I doubt they are on the verge of bankruptcy. On top of that, f1 teams these days make money, even if you aren't doing well on the grid. But if they really decide to pull out, massive opportunity for Andretti, and I hope they can capitalize.

Sorry but it's not. Blume could have already pulled the plug if he wanted to. Doesn't necessarily mean that it won't happen but if they wanted to, they would've already done so. Hoffman is not really in charge of that decision or is even the reason why this project is still on the table. They don't need to fire him in order to pull out of F1. Also we have to remember that Blume also wanted to be in F1 in a partnership with RedBull when he was still the CEO of Porsche. So he is not against an F1 entry in general. Maybe he would've even liked if it was Porsche that partnered up with Sauber in hindsight. Rebranding everything from Audi to Porsche was even rumored before as well.
Also regarding Andretti: Audi cannot just sell their stake to anyone. There is a 1000% chance that there is a clause in the contract where Rausing would be able to buy back the stake if Audi pulls out. This is a billion dollar company we are talking about, not a used PS4. Audi makes the team immensly more valuable just by their name recognition / brand value and the money / knowhow that will be injected into the Sauber company / the Hinwil base. And because Rausing will still own at least 25% of Sauber, this makes his stake more valuable as well. Andretti doesn't have the same brand value to it so Rausing would never ever agree to that. Especially because firstly, Rausing is not eager to sell his whole stake (which Andretti would want), otherwise he already would've done it with Audi, secondly, Andretti would most likely cut spending or even close down the Hinwil base, making Rausing's asset almost worthless. Rausing has a very hot asset in his hands and could use it as bait to attract other manufacturers that are maybe eyeing on a full works entry in the future. Andretti is just very vocal in the media but there are plenty more interesting partners out there.
Nothing against your video, it's great and provides all the important points for this discussion but i feel like F1 media is just obsessed with putting out headlines about Audi even if there is nothing to it if one thinks about it for a second. And if there is no statement from Audi to some random media rumours everybody acts like this is a sign that they will definitely pull out and if they do put out a statement everybody interprets it as Audi getting cold feet / panicking and therefore pulling out as well. All to further cultivate the topic and put out more articles about it. Audi could pull the plug whenever they want to. They don't need to axe manager xy to do so. I personally don't think it will happen but who kows really. But overreacting because of the slightest thing that is happening in Neuburg is also not that sensible.

Andretti definitely wants to be the 11th team for many reasons 1) In control of all aspects and no sharing with others 2) determined to beat others and show his worth 3) ultimate ' screw you' to Stefano he's tried the other methods before which haven't worked. He's determined to do things the hard way. Also other sponsors/ businesses are more likely to buy out the other teams ( but usually it is when it is more perilous especially with the economic situation will impact F1 over the next 2-3 years)

*sigh* ...and so even if the Andretti name gets in fans won't have an 11th team AND Sauber + all it's employees will be lost!
It's been obvious from the off that Audi's 'entry' has been motivated by "Wouldn't it be nice if Audi won some F1 championships?" Followed by a rummage under the sofa to see if they had the loose change to buy an ailing F1 team. No enthusiasm displayed, no attempt to get ahead of the game with Sauber before they officially hit the track. I expect Audi will quickly pull the plug when success doesn't come, if not before entry.
On a wider front, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Manufacturer teams are poison to F1 - they are only in it for the marketing, and no matter how successful will pull the plug just as soon as said success inevitably disappears, leaving F1 and the bereft team high-and-dry. I sincerely wish F1 would stop perusing major car manufacturers and encourage entries and existing teams that are in it for F1 itself... Oh, Andretti..?

I personally know the Andretti’s, having had business with Michael, and broken bread with Mario. Michael is a very fierce competitor when it comes to business, but I perceive he feels he has always been living under the shadow of his father - and is constantly fighting his way out of that shadow. 👍
He’s done fantastically when he realized that he was an OK driver, but a really good business person.
Being told no is something that his father absolutely will not accept at all, and he has just expanded upon that as he has matured over the years.
He is not gonna give up on Formula One, because he considers it once again him being relegated as an inferior Player in a sport that he feels he is a damn good player indeed…and he truly is😉
I think your analysis is right on the money, and I got a feeling that he’s been banging on that Sauber door the last few weeks…and may even be already in the process of trying to put together a deal.
If he get pissed off, he gets even more focused…Let’s see what happens!😁👌

As for Ford being paired with Red Bull that everyone gets wrong, they are not building an engine at all. RB Powertrains are doing that. Ford are only in it to learn about hybrid systems for use in their road cars.
Did F1 dictate to Audi that they had to provide value and, supply engines to other teams as they did to Andretti?

Do you see the recent celebrity investors being happy with a falling Alpine team? Perhaps they will put pressure on Alpine to perform or sell, so they can get some ROI, or continue on with a team (Andretti), that they feel will grow their investment. I can't see the celebrities wanting their names tied to a losing team. They are, after all, winners in their own genres.

Is Andretti going to have to buy Audi not just the Sauber stake this time? I think that is a bigger investment than the bank... Andretti buying a current team or bringing a new team thing is just a huge farce at this point. Considering Audi got cold feet on their Hypercar project and binned it (that project was one of the reasons they withdrew from Formula E) I'm not surprised that they might be getting cold feet with their F1 project.
Manufacturers come and go in motorsport, in part due to their own economic situations. WEC is in the midst of a manufacturer boom right now (19 cars from 9 manufacturers), especially with the fact that they can build cars to the LMDh spec which can compete in both WEC and IMSA (which Porsche, BMW, Lambo and Cadillac have taken advantage of), but is it sustainable? I'm a little sceptical on that to be honest, the cynical side of me can see some of them (e.g. Isotta and Alpine) pulling out in five years or so if they're not getting results and the top class heading back to how it was towards the end of the LMP1 era. FE's manufacturer boom proved short-lived, even though it still has major players there such as Jaguar, DS, Nissan, Maserati and McLaren, but the latter two aren't building their own powertrains at this point in time.
A championship with a large manufacturer presence is on somewhat shaky ground in my opinion, as people at the top of these companies change and priorities can change with them in terms of whether to have any motorsport programs or not. Look at the DTM for example and how it had to essentially switch disciplines from the (admittedly really expensive) loosest sense of Touring Cars to one among many GT3 series to survive. Manufacturers are powerful enough that if enough of them leave a series over a period of time, it could bring said series to its knees, which is what happened to DTM when Mercedes pulled out leaving just Audi and BMW and indeed in WEC when Toyota were left as the only major manufacturer in LMP1 for three years and promptly cleaned up the competition.

It would singlehandedly get more hype than any of the antics they have been pulling out (the football helmets, rapper intros, etc.) - because let's be honest, as entertaining as those are, nobody worldwide (INCLUDING THE AMERICANS THERE) thinks it looks good.

The lack of appreciation and coverage for "little" General Motors and the "hardly known" Andretti name is all we need to know about F1's xenophobia. Meanwhile they fawn all over Audi with their "historic" record in F1 (that is, none). Bottas and Zhou are "big names" to F1, whereas Andretti is small potatoes, in spite of Mario having been Champion of the World in F1 (and an Indy 500 winner). Plus, F1 wants a bigger bribe to allow Andretti to enter. If an "honest politician" is one who "stays bought" then F1's rulers are not even up to that pathetic standard. They named a price to get into GP racing, Andretti met their price (extortion) and then they changed their minds and asked for more. Apparently, Andretti raised the pay-off money too easily so F1 decided to ask for more. The F1 statement citing their reasons for not allowing Andretti to join was just flat-out insulting and demeaning to Andretti, General Motors and the United States.

F1 backing Audi to the hilt only for them to stab them in the back after spitting in the face of Andretti and General Motors is the most delicious case of schadenfreude ever to happen to Stefano Domenicalli and Liberty Media. They talk all this nonsense about needing to be financially viable and bringing something of value to the brand of Formula 1, meanwhile Andretti and General Motors have jumped through hoops and shown a detailed road map on what they will do to meet what the FIA and F1 wants. Audi? They, along with Porsche, demanded a seat at the table to get their needs met and to be catered to only for Porsche to quit trying for an engine agreement after Red Bull didn't bend over while Audi have now had one boardroom change potentially lead to them backing out and throw in the towel before their first Grand Prix. As far as I'm concerned, Andretti and Cadillac should sweat F1 out and tell them to pound wet sand unless they give them a discounted rate for Sauber.
