Hi Ashley, thanks for the review, I've been eyeing the 4070 model with the 64 GB Ram, wanted to ask you about the touchscreen and the windows experience. I read a lot of documents pdfs and need to scroll and mark/write notes. Do you think this would be good for them? I do play sim games like cities skylines from time to time so am interested in knowing if this would fit the bill.
Good Review, 11:44 if you really want to optimize for that screen you should go basic or min on the graphics. You can probably get well over 140-150 fps making true use of that 165hz screen. Fidelity doesn't matter much in comp shooters where everything is moving so fast.
I'm always curious who are all these people rendering videos on a laptop that's not plugged in. Like are they waiting until they're on an airplane to edit videos?
Us full time nomadic working creators are out there. 95% of my time I spend it outdoors sitting by a beach, looking at a mountain, sitting by a river, on a bench in the middle of Paris, or moving in a train. The only time I spend indoors is to sleep which is when I charge my laptop and my power bank. But hi, it’s us you’re wondering about. Nice to meet you (:
@@tripas421what do you do as a nomad? I assume it's so fun to travel to new places. Can you please tell how you did it. I want to travel and explore new places.
I'm a diehard desktop guy. I don't care about battery (other than the odd occassion where I need to unplug to move to a different room) and trackpad, since I always use a mouse. If I can't use a mouse, it means I am not in a good enough position/location/time period to get any work done anyway :)
Great Unboxing and reviev! Maybe you can borrow much more interesting tech stuff like headphones, smartwatches etc. from friends so you can make many more tech videos and save a lot of money.
I bought one for my daughter. She's an interactive media designer. What I noticed first that there is no PEN compatibility, tested all of the lenovo PENS, although 3.2k touch and while she was using Blender or Adobe PremierePro, battery would drain even with the 170-watt PSU connected. I had to buy a new 230-Watt PSU (02DL144) to avoid this. I bought the one with the RTX4060 but else is same as yours. The screen is top notch. If RTX4060 is active rendering, the battery drains in about 2-3 hours.
I would primarily do PLC programming in "Logosoft", which with 32Gb of ram memory, is not too demanding for this computer, which also has an extremely good screen.
Every review i see is making a remark on the battrery life, how bad is it? I do carry a battery around with me and i am looking to do around 4 to 5 hours of work (not gaming) with having to plug it in
Doing normal "office tasks" right now I'm getting 2-3 hours lol if I adjusted some settings like bringing screen down to 60Hz and dimming the screen etc I'm sure it could last a little longer. I just don't want to have to do that each time.
@techwithashley hanks for the reply. I see, that isn't very good at all. Have you noticed any battery draining even when plugged in under heavy load. Apparently according to few reddit posts, some users are experiencing that even when plugged in and they are claiming it's due to the 170W Adapter and the solution was yo swap it out with a 230aw Legion Adapter.
Yeah it’s a great laptop, but the battery life just isn’t the best. I haven’t noticed any issues on the unit I have, so for me right now it’s just the battery drain.
i owned this laptop it really is nice so is the ips just one draw back for me was how fast the battery drains so went with the new asus pro art p16 for 2024 but good review by the way
It depends on what you're using it for. I don't have experience with the pro 9, but it probably runs cooler. Intel is usually better with multicore performance.
@@techwithashley Im probably gonna wait for the Zephyrus G16 to go on Black friday sale and buy the 4080 version, I tried both Legion 7i and G16 (both 4070) for 30 days before i returned them, and the G16 feels so good, Legion beat it in every area, but sitting in a coffee shop with the G16 grabbed more eyeballs from the ladies than the Legion 7i (granted i got the black version) So i think the power comprise will equal if I get the 4080 G16, it would give me around the same FPS as the Legion 4070 given the power its fed. I do recommend trying the G16, it felt like a macbook pro that you can game on

I agree, thanks for the recommendation
@techwithashley No problem, I'm working on my review of it too so just something I noticed. Awesome laptop 👌

Is it that surprising of a thing to do on a portable device? An outlet is not always easily accessible.

Thank you!
And that would be nice, maybe one day!

Yeah battery life sounds right. The touch screen is nice, but pen support would have made it even better.
You look just like Sofia from the Danish tv show heartless, a compliment though :)
Hahaha thank you, I'll have to look her up
Good review. I think this laptop is great for coding and programming.
For sure! It's a great choice.

Got mine 3 weeks ago 😢 poor battery life and the touchpad going crazy when it's plugged into charge
So you wouldn't recommend this? I really like the mini LED
@@allworksnew it's a great laptop but you have to carry your charger everywhere

Yeah, the battery life isn’t my favorite. How’s the battery on the asus? That one looks nice too, but it only has a 60Hz screen 🥲
@@techwithashley it has been great battery last all day and you really cant till the 60hz its actually pretty smooth
This is a cool laptop!
In India u can get this with a 4070 but my issue is it looks dated
HDMI only support 4k@60Hrz and sd card reader is very slow by supporting UHS I amd the usb A ports dupport 5MB so what is this!
Which one is best yoga pro 9 or 9i
It depends on what you're using it for. I don't have experience with the pro 9, but it probably runs cooler. Intel is usually better with multicore performance.
So which one did you prefer Legion 7i vs Yoga 9i, dont say both
lol if I had to pick one, it would be the Legion 7i. That white color is clean, and I like that it’s upgradable.

The G16 does look really nice. I saw it on display at Best Buy and the OLED screen is gorgeous. Hopefully you get a good deal on it.
Can the laptop be charged from the Type-C port?
Yes, it can be charged with USB-C using the thunderbolt 4 port.
🙏
MacBook Pro 16” weighs 3.5lbs
Pretty sure it's 4.8 pounds
Looks cool but I wouldn't go with an intel based laptop in 2024
