As a player who’s done the 3 Star Ranks in this game, there’s a few things i can explain for those who want to 3 Star Rank everything in Super Circuit: Coins are worth one point each Getting the Starting Boost does give you extra points. Every character gets bonus after finishing the cup which can help (the highest bonus is Bowser, 2nd DK and Wario, 3rd Mario and Luigi and the lowest is Peach and Toad. Yoshi does not receive a bonus tho, the lightweights are the harder ones in the Extra Cups/SNES Cups Avoid using red shells, lightning, star, blue shell to hit AI racers (use the red shell as a shield) Collect items boxes when you already have a item in the slot Getting hit by Lightning gives you points The Extra Lightning Cup is considered the hardest to 3 Star Rank (especially with Lightweights) but there’s a few tracks that have special rules. Mario Circuit 3’s sand and Choco Island 2’s dirt do not punish you for taking the off road BUT the Mud Pool from Choco Island 2 does count as Off Road, best way to take that part is by taking the small island on the left which is faster and you don’t spent that much time in the mud. When you fall off the track, you can do the Lakitu Boost which gives you points for getting it Drifting is really important because Mini Turbo will help with your score Do Not Hit the Brakes it will punish you greatly, i suggest letting go off the A Button on tough turn and quickly press it back. Water counts as Off Road, so avoid it or starting hopping a lot cause the game checks the time how much you spent on the off road.
I did actually end up looking on that forum of the people breaking it down into excessive detail. Probably the same source this info came from tbh. It's so bizarre that getting hit by lightning actually benefits you though
This is an underrated classic in my opinion although it still doesn't hold up quite as well as games like Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8.
I love this game a lot. I'm partially nostalgia blinded, but I lost this game for the second half of my childhood. Either ways I still enjoy this game for its unique quirks. Satisfying in its own way.
Well, I stopped myself getting 3 stars on everything cos it'll probably take forever. But yeah I like to cover the entire game so I do tend to fully complete them for the vids
Sorry but I don't like it, the tracks are good, but the controls are horrible, if the controls were good probably I will consider it a good Mario Kart game

But if by chance you see this I came back to thank you for the childhood of gameboy games and laughs you brought me. Im glad you’re still passionate about what you do and even if you don’t know it you’re making all of your loyal fans childhoods memorable!
I just looked it up, and you have to straighten your Kart before releasing the drift button to get a mini turbo. Apparently, drifting is required to get a better rank on the SNES courses.
Yeah. In Poland, I cannot find any players who got any good ranks in this game. Nobody to play with, even tho I have multiple GBAs and game link cables (and about 3 original copies of this game ;)
There is a reason why this is the highest rated one. Shipped with a gba. Everybody played this. As I was a kid, I'm not sure to what extent I unlocked content, but I'm as hell sure I have seen the orange title screen. Edit 2: hold up, I might still have the cartridge somewhere...
Finally, someone that has actually played super circuit and realized that it is great😌 There are so many people that have barely touched the game and say its the worst in the series for no reason... :c
Years ago I discovered this channel while recovering from pneumonia and I’ve always enjoyed watching and keeping up with your videos. I get a nice sense of nostalgia watching your older videos especially the ones I watched when I was recovering. Apparently your account has made me miss having pneumonia
With such a large amount of tracks, it makes Double Dash feel so light in comparison. Thank goodness DS brought back and standardized the retro tracks, only now with all the previous Mario Karts instead of just the one.
Also something you forgot to mention; if you hit certain items or stage hazards, letting go of the gas and braking while you're slipping will stop you from spinning out.
Super Circuit is so great. It was SO gratifying finally unlocking the secret nighttime title screen on my copy. I know most don't even give it a chance because it's 2D and on a handheld, but I didn't even grow up with this game, and I think it's awesome.
That summary at the end about leaving a bit of a bad impression at first, but having great value if you stick with it felt like a great analogy of your channel. I wasn't sure what to think about a swearing Goomba playing horrible video games. But there was a certain charm that kept me coming back for more. Now I get excited whenever you pop up in my feed!

It is a fusion of SMK and MK 64 on one of the best handhelds of all time. It had a minimized 4 player experience with even a single cartridge. And most importantly: You can set red shell traps. Of course this is historically the best MK of all time
Yeah I felt the same way, I went and star ranked every cup in DS and then got this game. I was able to 2-star most 50cc cups in DS in not even a day or two, but with this game I've spent what feels like a WEEK with just 50cc. And I'm somehow supposed to 3-star all of these for 100%? The learning curve for this game in particular feels like one the series' hardest. But even though it's slow I can see myself getting slightly better, and those moment when I DO actually get it and am driving perfect feel sooo good. Even though it's frustrating, I'm gonna keep at this one
I used to think that the only thing that made this game notable were all the crazy commercials that were made for it. But after this video, I can see that there’s so much more to it than that. This was another very good video, Goomba! Well done!
Super Circuit gets no love these days. Once you stop tryin to play it like MK8, it feels great. Still one of the best entries from a single player perspective

Not what you'd expect from Mario Kart these days, and it *Definitely* takes some getting used to, but once you click with this game, it's right brilliant! And before MK8's DLC it really was the one with the most content, it's almost weird to think that this was the one that pioneered the concept of bringing back tracks from previous games! Albeit in a VERY different way...
getting triple star rank in MKWii is just as difficult if not more so due to rng. if im not remembering wrong, you have to not get hit by items, you have to hold 1st place for most of the race, some other absurd criteria that i cant remember. basically going up in difficulty requires the luck of the gods because its Mario Kart Wii, the game that invented "get Mario Kart'd" for getting pummeled by EVERY cpu that was behind you if just one hits you
Wii is pretty tricky but it's not nearly as hard imo. There is a higher luck element with Wii though more than this which can screw up an entire cup. I like Wii but yeah, the item balance is horrendous in that game.
Wow. Lonely Goomba has hit hard times. Peach and Daisy’s assets aren’t even on his reason to live anymore or any Nintendo character. Just the bat and while a good one, is saying something about how much he needs you to watch his videos, hit that like and subscribe buttons and tell your friends about him instead of talking about whatever stupid thing some rich guy with cartoon character plans is trying to sell you now. I’m not sponsored by him. I’m just a fan.
Wow! You actually gave one of Mario's GBA outings positive attention! And here I thought you'd consider it "rubbish" like the advance series... I'm still kinda hurt by that opening line to the Sonic Advance 1 video...
I loved how this game only needed one cartridge for multiplayer! I remember playing it on the bus with buds on the way to school! I also thought it was really cool how if you threw a red shell behind, would stay still waiting for someone to drive by and attack them.
Super Circuit was really good with it’s beautiful colors and design but I never knew they were Retro Courses, that was really shocking! I really think the slippery controls was the huge problem with the game Super Mario Kart.
Truly underrated as hell game. I never got into it when it came out, honestly, but I tried it again like 4 or 5 years ago and put some real effort into it. It really is great once you give yourself time to get used to it. Some of the most fun single player in the series to be sure, while having an AI that's actually POSSIBLE to beat with some technique unlike Super Mario Kart's extremely cheating AI. I'd say the game totally replaces SMK in everything but the multiplayer accessibility because of that damned link cable and no ability to use the wireless adapter because it was a near launch GBA title. I personally would just suggest picking one character you like and sticking with them since they all control somewhat differently. I went with DK because he's said to have the best handling of the heavy characters and gives high bonus points towards the star ranks (also speed in the menu is mistranslated and should say acceleration). Plus I'm used to drifting all the time and it feels really satisfying when you pull it off. At any rate I always lamented the fact that you can't really play multi-player with anyone because of the need for a link cable. That's where GBA NSO comes in, it was great to play 2P Grand Prix with someone and play 3 or 4 Player battle, online, easily.
I always loved Super Circuit. It was my second after 64. It controls identically to Super Mario Kart so Toad is by far the best character and I vehemently disagree with ignoring drifting because that's really important in 150cc. Once you get good at the drifting you basically don't ever really have to brake.
I can see why it's the highest rated: It throws together the best parts of SMK and MK64 (the previous two entries), comes with multiplayer only needing one cardridge (albeit limiting it), and it basically introduced the concept of Retro Tracks by having *all* of SMK tracks included as unlockable - resulting it also being the Mario Kart with the most tracks included by default (40!) until MK8Deluxe (MK8 regular had more with the paid DLC tracks, but less by default). Also, it's portable. I think the only thing it did "wrong" (and that's more in hindsight) is acting too much like SMK in terms of driving.
a little tip from someone that has been playing this game for 20 years now. If you are aiming for triple stars, the heavier the character you are playing the higher your chances will be.
Super Circuit even feels and looks better than 8. 8 is just.. boring. It has no Charme and the Artstyle isn't good. Super Circuit on the other hand has Charme. As all the other games before 8. Goddamn it we need a Mario kart 9 with a more interesting Artstyle. But no more bloom please or I will burn Nintendo HQ down because my eyes are still burning from looking at that ugly 3D Kirby bloom...
Hope the impeccable timing of this game becoming available on switch online + expansion boosts the views on this video! Found it quite interesting, cheers!!!

Yeah. It's a crime that the title music isn't listed in any compilations of best Mario music! And stupid MK8 theme is. This is gotta be the most crazy (and fantastic!) theme song of MK game.
I think Mario Kart Wii is the best Mario Kart! C’mon! It has the cool tricks and the hardest level design in the series! It has the best roster too! Mario Kart DS may have had missions, but half the tracks in that game sorta sucked. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is sorta a lazy rehash of Mario Kart 8, with the new content being very sloppy. Mario Kart 8 was easy and a little bare, with some bizarre character decisions. Mario Kart Double Dash only had 16 tracks, which was pretty meager at the time even. I am tellin’ ya! It’s Wii! That’s the best one!
Wow, that’s the worst Mario Kart to me, how is it the best?! Bad graphics, bad music, bad racing physics, and no features other than race and time trials. Double Dash and 64 clearly beat it for nostalgia, 7 and 8 clearly beat it for graphics and sounds. How is this the best?!
Wow this became...surprisingly relevant, what with the GBA NAO including it as a launch title. ...Does the Goomba have a line to Nintendo behind that bush?
I played super circuit when I was younger, and I HATED IT! But that intro music did keep me coming back. It was one of the only things I had soooooo… I played it.
You might think drifting is unwieldy but what if I told you hopping after performing a drift maintains your top speed and prevents overly sharp turns? Mastering this is crucial if you want to win in 150cc cups!
7:37 Funnily enough, those instructions on unlocking the Extra Cups are also wrong lol What you really need to do is beat all cups on first place first (including the Special Cup), and then beat them again with 100 coins or more. If you finish any cup and then finish it again with 100 coins without having the Special Cup finished first, you won't get anything. Yes, it sucks. And yes, the game doesn't tell you about it lol
Too lazy to make a Scott The Woz reference in the comments, so instead I'm just going to comment about being too lazy to make a Scott The Woz reference in the comments.
This video made me go and boot my old GBA and my old copy of Super Circuit to see how I did with the star ranks as a kid. I three starred all but one cup in 50cc, then many 1 and 2 stars in 100cc.................. But in 150cc I had a star on one cup, and letter ranks on the rest. Guess I never mastered it. Was fun to watch my 20+ year old replays in the Time Trial though! Thanks for the vid Goomba, I really went down memory lane with this one

a little tip from someone that has been playing this game for 20 years now.
Don't forget there's a flying Princess Peach's Castle with Bowser's face & Clown face with Spike balls from Paper Mario n64 in the Backgrounds be hiding the clouds 4:50 if you don't see it I know these References from the back of me hand
This game is... fine. The end credits music is a real bop.
Wow, the timing of this video like 3 days before the game was announced/released on NSO.
The Lonely Goomba Prophet.
7:37 Funnily enough, those instructions on unlocking the Extra Cups are also wrong lol
What you really need to do is beat all cups on first place first (including the Special Cup), and then beat them again with 100 coins or more.
If you finish any cup and then finish it again with 100 coins without having the Special Cup finished first, you won't get anything.
Yes, it sucks. And yes, the game doesn't tell you about it lol
My personal favourite Mario Kart. Played it to death back in the day. Cracking video as always 😂
It’s the best period.
Wow. I used to watch your chanel ages ago, 2015 and such. Im impressed that you're still going.
Mario kart is always fun 💫we need goomba kart ✨️Go super goomba😎✌️
I keep forgetting you're not one of the really big channels.
Too lazy to make a Scott The Woz reference in the comments, so instead I'm just going to comment about being too lazy to make a Scott The Woz reference in the comments.
Heres the deal: the game is hard. It has controls that take skill to learn. But its always fair and you will always win if you're a good player.
Nice clickbait title there LG 😉 Cracking video though!
It's funny how not long after this video came out, Super Circuit came to Switch Online
...I just got the joke with the two green Joy-Cons on Goomba's Switch. Subtle!
We all want Goomba as a playable character in Mario Kart. We don't care if he doesn't has hands, King Boo doesn't had feets and can drive.
Still have my original copy!
This is my least favorite Mario Kart. Kept getting frustrated with the driving physics.
Funny how he released this days before the Direct announced the GBA with Super Circuit in it
I love Mario kart 8 deluxe one of my favorite Mario kart game. I was kinda crazy to buy that game 😅😅
"The mustachioed hero we all know and love.....Wario!"
Pretty much. Mario is boring.
surviving a single turn in Fire Emblem Awakening on Lunatic+ is still harder lmao
Warios speed is super fast nobody can’t control oh also this game should get a update!
Goomba, when are you gonna play Sonic Advance 3 already!?
Wow!!! I didn't even know you could unlock the OG courses 😱😱😱
Always delightfull to see more of our favorite 1-1 enemie
Ooh if you waited a bit longer this could of coincided with it’s release on switch online
