"That moment" about Snorri is in the Dragonslayer book. I was listening to the audiobook at work and just kind of stopped, stood in place, and paused that audiobook. Pancrease is not kidding when he says Snorri's backstory is incredibly depressing. As for Malakai, the armored Hiddenburg he builds isn't a background thing and is actually a major plot point in several of the books. I recommend reading them, even if you don't have any knowledge of Warhammer. They are very good introductory stories into the setting because Gotrek and Felix are in no way major players by both accident and choice. As such, while their actions make them heroes, Gotrek's death oath means he has no desire for laurels or praise, so he keeps on moving.
14:24 Teclis, brother to Tyrion, is a high elf wizard of Aenarions bloodline, aenarion was the first phoenix king during the first coming of chaos and was one of the reasons for why the elves managed to survive. However in desperation aenarion took the sword of Khaine from its shrine when he heard his wife and children had been killed (all gods including the chaos gods were screamin at him that picking up the sword was a bad idea but the did it anyways). Due to this aenarions bloodline was cursed with the curse of Khaine, his descendants are powerful and mighty but there is always something negative too, in Tyrions case this was berserker rages and in teclis case it was an incredibly frail and sickly body, although his magic was immensely powerful. Teclis was convinced that to let the high elves survive they should work together with other species, he aided magnus the pious during the great war against chaos with the twelfth everchosen avazar Khul and was responsible for the founding of the colleges of magic in altdorf.
17:34 Max is a wizard of the light order, one of the eight colleges of magic that studies the white wind of magic Hysh, the winds are everywhere in the warhammer world and are attracted to all kinds of things, Hysh is verry difficult to gather or perceive and is attracted to things like faith and devotion. It is incredibly powerful and can be used to protect against supernatural beings or deal incredible destructive damage to foes. Light wizards are massively anti-chaos. Every species has different ways of using the eight winds, however in the empire where once traditions of hedge wizards existed, now the only legal way to practice magic is if you are a student of the colleges of magic, founded by teclis, he taught these wizards that humans could only handle 1 wind at a time and divided them in eight colleges, each dedicated to the study and use of one of the eight winds. each college has its own culture, traits and so on.

27:31, Be'lakor, the dark master, first of the damned, first daemon prince, a being that haunts the shadows after being punished by the chaos gods for his hubris
As a general rule, characters in 40K are more powerful than those in Fantasy. Its an issue with power scaling, it's mentioned in Pancreas's other video about Fantasy vs 40K, but basically the same threats in 40K capable of destroying a planet can struggle to take over a single city in Fantasy. Orks in Fantasy are held at bay with sharp sticks and single shot gunpowder weapons, while Orks in 40K can shrug off lasers and survive a shot from a RPG machine gun. So characters like Gotrek, Nagash, and Lord Kroak who are all individually strong enough to defeat a Primarch, are pretty damn frightening. If they ever get transported to 40K and boosted in scale to compete in that power level, they would be god-like. Gotrek could likely solo a Black Crusade or a Tyranid Hive Fleet. Nagash would rival a Chaos God. And Lord Kroak would be the single most powerful being in the setting, likely surpassing the Emperor.
Unfortunately, even if someone in GW had this bright idea and act on it, big chaos and cash loving bosses would order to retkon it into Archaon victory. I mean, in initial End Times, before last climatic battle, Grimgor Ironhide a.k.a Da Best fought with Archaon, kick his ass and walk away looking for someone else to fight. Big bosses decided that it is unbecoming of their favorite child to lose like that, so lore was rewritten into Archaon victory even with loss of one of his artifacts. So I fear even Gotrek would end up with same treatment.

The Stormcast Eternals are actually all of the _dead_ heroes from Warhammer Fantasy. Basically, Sigmar made a deal with Nagash where Sigmar could cherry-pick the souls of a few heroes to serve as his champions in the fight against Chaos. Nagash, being allied to Sigmar at the time and seeing no immediate downside to this arrangement, reluctantly agreed to do his good deed for the millennium and help Sigmar. However, Nagash is a goddamn weasel and figured out that even if he can't take the Stormcasts back from Sigmar directly, he's still the God of Death and thus he's able to claim enough of a Stormcast's soul each time one dies that eventually they will lose themselves completely and return to his service. As for Gotrek's quest to find Felix? He has yet to do so, but Felix's ultimate fate during the End Times is a mystery and it's entirely possible that Felix is still alive somewhere.

@@pile-o-nonsense3688 Well that's the thing. Nagash is the God of Death now, so Sigmar had to go through Nagash in order to create the Stormcast, and in the early days of the Mortal Realms the souls of the dead from Warhammer Fantasy were basically all Sigmar had to work with because his living followers in the Mortal Realms either weren't dying because they were too badass or they weren't notable enough to become Stormcast in the first place. The thirsting of Zabbia for Felix in “Serpent Queen” is absolutely hilarious, especially given her “situation”. And on the topic of horny Tomb Queens, and this might just be me, but regardless, I swear that Khalida had similar thoughts as her, but unlike her herald, Khalida had an actual filter whenever she spoke or thought. Also he forgot to add two other characters to the main secondary characters… The first is Kat aka Katerina aka Felix’s future wife who wanted to go adventuring with Felix and Gotrek but Felix said no for obvious reasons. She actually saved Felix when they first met from a Khorne follower. The other being Otto Jaeger, the brother of Felix who got letters from Felix to “hold on to” until Felix returned to publish as a book, but in stead published them as a incredibly successful books series called “My Travels with Gotrek” mostly due to the sheer unbelievability of what they went through that (I think) it was believed that Felix was just making stuff up and no one thought it was actually true in the slightest. Additionally there is Melenath Deathblade a Drhukii who wanted Gotreks rune axe. She is basically female Malus Darkblade who became a permanent companion to Gotrek in AOS and was actually kinda fun to read in books.
If there was one video I would recommend from PancreasNoWork it would be his "What if the Chaos Gods Were Starved of Power ". If not that then his HaloHammer video series where he takes the Covenent, Forerunners, Flood, and the UNCS from Halo and talks about how they would do in 40K. I'm not sure how much you know about Halo but if your interested I believe their worth watching.

Khazuk Khazuk Khazuk-ha. Gotrek is basically a god in AOS almost as strong as any of the other gods thus if we assume that the chaos gods are the same level in fantasy and 40k and he is close to their strenght it would be fair to assume he could beat a primarch on chaos juice

slayers are way too cool in general and lore master of sotek and andy law have a great podcast episode about slayers and why they are. it is such an interesting aspect of the dawi
You might be wondering why an engineering genius is in the Slayers. That's because one of the highest sins to the Dwarves for Fantasy is violating tradition. And to invent in a most heinous violation. To create an entirely new class of war machine, even one with obvious potential like an armored airship, and see it accepted in less than a century was only possible with him entering the Slayers. In a way, Dwarf craftsmen are akin to the Mechanicus. This is how things are done, because this is how they have been done, and this is how things will continue to be done. An inventor is inherently a dangerous radical and an outcast at best. A living stain on family honor past and future at worst.... unless they become a Slayer.
If you want to go on an adventure, you take the Fellowship from Tolkien. If you want to go on a setting defining quest, get Gotrek and the gang (a good name for a band by the way).
What makes Thanquols letters funny is that they're filled with grammatical mistakes, skaven words, naming and insulting the skaven he's targeting, and praising himself.
@@TheLegitWeebs Even funnier is that he believes 100% that they think it's from a human, even congratulating himself for "tricking" them to do his bidding (and at no point does he consider that selling out his allies and their plans might be a bad idea).
Well, there's a bit more to that: The probelm with reforging is that it damages the soul which is then repaired by the people in charge of the process or at least as good as they can. This leaves less of the original soul and it keeps on getting worse. This can lead to a ton of different things and both the loss of memories and emotions can happen. On the other hand, a Stormcast could also be reforged and suddenly remember things they forgot or feel emotions stronger then they eve did before. They could turn into a mindless lightning automaton but they could just as likely turn into a complete loon who's covered in trinkets taken from dead people because they think that these people will otherwise be forgotten by anybody else. How a Stormcast is influenced by the reforging is also heavily depending on who they where in their mortal life: If they where often angry and have a strong connection to their anger it will often lead to that emotion becomes kind of "resistand" to the reforging. This can lead to them being eventually nothing but angry all the time because it's the only emotion that is eventually left as the rest got lost. Generally though, the best way to describe it is like sharpening a pencil: The more you do it, the less you have but the tip becomes more pointy too until it breaks off.
If you have time and patience, I recommend the Lorebeards podcast. In particular, “The Introduction to Warhammer Fantasy” And “Warhammer: The Old World, What Lore has Changed” But a fair warning: These are pretty long videos.
If you haven't gotten into Warhammer Fantasy, I would highly HIGHLY recommend Gotrek and Felix. They're great reads (or listens, if you're using audible), very entertaining and beginner friendly.
you can power compare them rather easily. it's called the bloodthirster scale. since demon's show up in warhammer 40k, warhammer fantasy, and warhammer age of sigmar. the best way to power scale characters from these series is to simply compare their feats against a similar kind of demon, in this case, a bloodthirster. why the humble thirster? because khorne doesn't cheat or overpower his dudes. each one is roughly the same power level each time for the best fights and slaughters.
I haven't read any G&F books, but thanks to her somewhat recent addition to the Total War Warhammer 3 roster, I'm pretty sure I know what major spoiler he's talking about. I know you've been looking into TW Warhammer content (sticking with WH2 should be fine for this) but if you want to stay spoiler free for Ulrika, don't look too closely at her character card in WH3
Age of Sigmar audiobooks have great voice acting. Multiple voice actors and Brian Blessed as Gotrek is amazing. There is a clip of Gotrek ACCIDENTALLY INTIMIDATING A GODBEAST. Really sold the audiobook for me. To anyone interested search Gotrek Badass Boast
The Stormcast Eternal? That detail about them becoming emotionless is because they literally lose pieces of their souls every single time they die after becoming Stormcasts, and this happens due to a mix of the Stormforging process having issues and Nagash being such a petty asshole that he just yoinks pieces of their souls. And yes, it sounds suspiciously like GW tried ripping off Dark Souls.
If you're wondering what the powerscaling is between fantasy and 40k, most blades that have any magical property whatsoever can break a chainsword in half and most named characters could whoop their 40k counterparts. For example archaon could beat the living shit out of Abbadon if he so wished and i wouldn't be surprised if Gotrek could solo demon primarch Angron in under 3 minutes

The first is Kat aka Katerina aka Felix’s future wife who wanted to go adventuring with Felix and Gotrek but Felix said no for obvious reasons.
It's Witchblade, nor deathblade. Her adventure with gotrek abruptly ended in soulslayer but i won't spoil how unless you asked
I had heard she died, but haven’t gotten to that book yet.
If you want something a bit more dark and edgy, I can also suggest the malus darkblade novels. It's a really fun adventure and a look into dark elf culture ;)
That's one of the dlc lords in Total War Warhammer right? Constantly struggling against the demon could make for some interesting stories.
@@TheLegitWeebs he is, he came in a vs pack against deathmaster snikch. Which is a bit odd since they don't have a notable rivalry in lore at all as far as I know
Gotrek the badass that outlived the world, and felix the womanizer. W duo
You k ow that Heinrich Kemmler is an OP wizard when he was one of the foes that came closest to actually killing Gotrek, extra impressive because Gotrek is a dwarf and has natural protection against magic and has the axe of Grimmnir which gives even more protection against it
It's mostly Krell but yeah kemmler is pretty strong too that got mishandled severely during the end times
@@hoshi314 who didn't?
Ah, Fantasies Asterix and Obelix.
There was actual controversy in medieval times about taxes on windows that was met with houses being build with fewer windows, which really didn't help the inhabitants.
Stormcasts aren’t engineered to lose their emotions, it’s a known flaw that occurs over multiple Reforgings that Sigmar and Grugni are trying to fix.
The age of mythology tune takes me back
ive read the first couple of books hwen i was a youngter. nerver managed to have them all though. oh what id give for a full series on my bookshelf. but alas, i am not rich. glad to see someone else watch pancreasnowork. hes legit/10. except for that I think he simps for aeldari.
xD A little simping can be forgiven
slayers are way too cool in general and lore master of sotek and andy law have a great podcast episode about slayers and why they are. it is such an interesting aspect of the dawi
I can’t wait for him to look at nagash or the sons of behemoth
What makes Thanquols letters funny is that they're filled with grammatical mistakes, skaven words, naming and insulting the skaven he's targeting, and praising himself.
Everything I hear about Thanquol just makes me want to cheer him on and see how he fails xD.
@@TheLegitWeebs Even funnier is that he believes 100% that they think it's from a human, even congratulating himself for "tricking" them to do his bidding (and at no point does he consider that selling out his allies and their plans might be a bad idea).
When a stormcast die to many times he loses his memory and emosions
Well, there's a bit more to that:
The probelm with reforging is that it damages the soul which is then repaired by the people in charge of the process or at least as good as they can.
I been playing warhammer 3 for about a year now and I can confirm that I would rather chop off my arm than fightgotrik and Felix.
If you have time and patience, I recommend the Lorebeards podcast.
In particular, “The Introduction to Warhammer Fantasy”
And
“Warhammer: The Old World, What Lore has Changed”
But a fair warning: These are pretty long videos.
If you haven't gotten into Warhammer Fantasy, I would highly HIGHLY recommend Gotrek and Felix. They're great reads (or listens, if you're using audible), very entertaining and beginner friendly.
We don’t talk about warhammer odyssey
Ah, it's one of those games... I see.
you can power compare them rather easily. it's called the bloodthirster scale. since demon's show up in warhammer 40k, warhammer fantasy, and warhammer age of sigmar. the best way to power scale characters from these series is to simply compare their feats against a similar kind of demon, in this case, a bloodthirster. why the humble thirster? because khorne doesn't cheat or overpower his dudes. each one is roughly the same power level each time for the best fights and slaughters.
