I like that little detail with the Kuzuryus’ names. In Japanese, “fuyu” means “winter” and “natsu” means “summer.” Having them be named “Fuyuhiko” and “Natsumi” is nice.

The lead level designer for Robbing The Cradle, Jordan Thomas aka Nullspeak on most social sites, went on to be the level designer for Fort Frolic in Bioshock (the insane artist one), then the creative director for Bioshock 2, and apparently one of the writers for Infinite which I didn't actually know until just now. He's now one of the founders of the studio Question Games, which work on the South Park RPG games, as well as two of their own games; The Magic Circle, which is sort of a meta-commentary on game development and auteur game developers getting way too stuck into their own ideas. It's about a game that's been stuck in development hell for so long it gains sentience and recruits you to try and finish it in any shape. Their most recent game that's not part of the South Park ones is The Blackout Club, a return to horror and stealth it's the sort of "kids investigating a mystery in their isolated small town" that was really popular in the 80s and 80s throwbacks. Like IT or Stranger Things, you know the type. People around you are acting oddly, and you yourself have been waking up covered in mud and scratches, no memory of what you were doing. Gameplay-wise it's up to 4 player coop, which wouldn't normally work in a horror setting let alone one where you need to be sneaky, and I don't know how they managed it but it weirdly does work? You load into the map, complete a few objectives, gather evidence, and skidaddle. The big mechanic, which for reasons that'll make sense in a bit is no longer functioning, was that your game would occasionally be visited by one of the entities that is playing a part in the happenings in the town (or sometimes a person connected to it). These visits were surprise live roleplay sessions where you would converse with an actor in character, try to get some information, advance the plot, or just goof off with. Although plenty of people figured it out fairly quickly it was generally considered rude to acknowledge that the actors in question were most of the cast of professional VAs from the Critical Role group (and if you attempted to talk to them out of character the interaction was cut off and you were blacklisted from further visits). The story concluded in December 2021 and unfortunately the game's been basically dead since then. Which is a shame because the base stealth game was about as close to the Thief series as anyone's done since; light levels, staying in the shadows, even good noise detection for the surfaces you walk on. They're a very, very small indie studio and they weren't able to implement as much as they'd wanted to do, including one last quite large expansion to the map, but what they did have was very fun, and very impressive

He seem so embarrassed by his boss when he report that the orks are near the Titan. Not helped by having to put up with being belittled every time Crull speak and having his skills unappreciated despite doing most of the work.

Both Cathay and Kislev have been let down by the fact that GW has a vice grip on what CA are allowed to implement or not in terms of lore, lords, units etc. As always, the biggest thing holding back creativity is corporate bullshit. As for Kostaltyn, he really needs not just a faction rework, but probably a model and voice rework to make him more like he is in the cutscenes, since right now he's just a less interesting fantasy version of Grigori Rasputin.

Boy also did one better THAN Horus considering he destroyed Earth and defeated Not-God King Supreme (Emperor) pretty decisively to where he had to resort to a Decapitation strike and essentially getting him to quit the UNIVERSE.

Played this as a kid, loved it to bits despite its many failures and missing/changed features from the first games. Maybe it helped that I only learned about the other games much later, but I still recommend playing this, even before the other two, so you don't miss rope arrows too much. I promise there is some peak enjoyment to be had, I remember some spooky part being so atmospheric and effective to my very young self, I had to take breaks and "un-immerse" myself in order to get through. And apart from the infuriating issue of loot and regular assets looking the same, the typical Thief gameplay you want is still totally there. Just don't expect it to be a timeless classic.

You did it, you finally completed another Mandalore series. Now to wait for him to inevitably review Thief 4 (in one of the end-of-video patreon questions, he did say he would much rather review that than review C&C4). Also I think Civvie, even if you don’t make a video reaction out of it, still good content-wise. It’s not just gameplay, he makes it into both a plot summarization and a breakdown of story elements, gameplay mechanics, and development backstory. Also also: I’m sorry if this sounds forceful, but I really do hope you check out the Mandalore Story complication. You’ll get more insight into Mandalore’s jokes and… his very “main character” backstories.

the ork and mostlikly the Human Afterlife isnt that bad and even if not a human Soul and most others arent Sentient in the Warp. the Harliquines have the only Confirmed afterlife in the Warp because there God litterly steals there Souls from Slaanesh. also the soul stones are these Colored Gemes in the Eldar Armore you see most have multipel becaus there is always a chance one is hit by an enemy also they are actualy not that fragile even without the casing we see. also i read a short story of an Human guardsmen that got killed by an Eldar that later was killed because of a crack in the casing of a Soulstone the human was sucked into it after he died. apperantly the Collective wanted him to stay so non living eldar is aware of the Human in there Afterlife. but this cant be the only case that happened. i just imagine a Black templar beeing in there and just hear the news about current 40K from his Hannibal lecter Prison in there

I recommend Warlockracy’s video on Deus Ex if you want to get into it, it’s somewhat long but in depth on the story and philosophy

Once a franchise starts deviating from the formula that made the first N games good and successful in this way, where it starts compromising for a console, or a trend in gameplay, or whatever... it almost always only gets worse from there. The only exception I can think of is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but seeing how Human Revolution went it seems it's a statistical anomaly instead.

So not every fight is of this quality. That would just be impossible. But fun fact, the fight was animated by MORO. More impressively, just MORO. One mad man animated the fight.

39:46: I actually did this. Cause there are areas that straight up become a gang war between the two factions with a lot of civilian casualties. And that's a lot of free loot if I just wait for the dust to settle.

Sseth has a Deus Ex vid but the game is super worth playing too, I played it way after it came out and you forget it's age fast once you get into it.

Accursed Farms has a great series that has reviews on a bunch of games including all the Dues ex games. Would definitely recommend, as Ross does a good job on talking about some of the more abstract parts of the games themes while having a unique brand of humor.

I never understood why mandalore frontloads his review videos with his bugfixing adventures prior to the actual review. It's not relevant to the review and something I really don't care about until AFTER the review has managed to sell me on it, if it even does that.

Civvi's stuff is really good but be advised: some of his best content is also his _longest._ And his most... "UA-cam-unfriendly". As far as those go, the Postal series are the best but the Shadow Warrior series is probably the _safest._

Worry not about Civvie, his videos are reviews and skits, reminiscent of Mandalores.
