This is so real lmao. I saw all the movies on the iceberg and was like.... surely there can't be that many... turns out my idea of what a found footage film EVEN IS, is not the same as the person who made this iceberg 😂
omg, I actually have a bonkers fact for the dyatlov pass incident! They solved what happened in late 2010s thanks to...... Frozen's snow physics engine! The engine was so accurate that they recreated the set up for the camp and found out that because of how the snow surrounding the camp was positioned, it was just the right set up for the camp to be very suddenly covered overnight. Not a proper avalanche, but like, a mini one. So the campers were asleep, a few foot of snow is suddenly on top of their camp, and they very quickly succumb to hypothermia, they crawl out from under the snow and do the crazy things hypothermia makes you do.
I think there was also proof that the specific way the snow banks on the mountains worked - the shape of the slope, lack of trees or ledges - was also linked to another area with the same landscape where the same thing happened, with one survivor? If I remember correctly that part was theorised to be due to the sound/echo chamber of low frequency sound causing issues with people's inner cochlear and disorienting them. Might be wrong about that part though, but I think I remember hearing that being a related theory that recently came up.
Honestly hearing you mention Cannibal Holocaust brought me all the way back to when I first found your channel on my lunchbreak working overnights at a hospital lmaooo
Lake Mungo gets better each time you watch it. It is truly shocking how good it is, and how haunting (ha ha). It makes sense that such a film has a big ol Twin Peaks homage, because it has a similar dream like quality at times. Also, the way the film uses your own media literacy to enhance its story is incredible.
Anubis chasing around a bunch of hapless victims through ruins is peak micromanagement. I feel like an actual god would delegate something like that to an underling. He probably just loves what he does and never wants to lose touch with the little guys.
SO psyched that you love Lake Mungo! it's very rare that any piece of horror media gets to me, but Lake Mungo is the only film that's ever genuinely frightened me as an adult. it's easily a favorite of mine!

Point of order! Robert Englund is not a consultant in Behind the Mask. He is the "Ahab." Literally the Dr. Loomis type that Leslie Vernon needs to complete his checklist of requirements for becoming a slasher. I really like that movie.
@@nyxfears Really digging the series! There's... there's so much found footage/mockumentary stuff out there... The Tunnel has been super hard to find before this past year, only just now has it started getting more opportunities to buy or stream it, so I'm glad that I'm finally able to watch it!
Which is actually kind of crazy because The Tunnel is actually one of the first films to release as a torrent, meaning anyone in the world can freely download it without breaking any laws. I remember my copy came with a torrenting client like 15 years ago

Loving this iceberg series so far. thank u for being a found footage apologist The mere mention of Lake Mungo still unsettles me. I came here to see what you had to say about behind the mask the rise of Leslie Vernon because it's one of my all time favourites because it's so silly at parts and I love that about it, the fact it plays around with all the typical slasher tropes is really fun, I'm genuinely so happy that it was on the iceberg because I feel that it's very underrated, I honestly probably wouldn't have found it or even watched it without the UA-cam channel Dead Meat doing a kill count on it
The gallows being the last on this list is so funny to me. I remember seeing it in theaters and literally forgot about it until now. I suggest watching it with a group of friends who loves making fun of movies
Can't believe 'Creep' and 'The Last Exorcism' were right next to each other in this video!!! Those are like, the main two movies i wanted to hear your opinion on- They're very near and dear to my heart :) Thank you for taking the time to review this iceberg. This series is already so fun ^__^
i hardly, if ever, have watched any found footage movies, and its not like i don't go out of my way to avoid them i just don't know where to start (the only movie ive seen so far from this series is one cut of the dead - and again, NOT really a found footage) so watching your videos and hearing your thoughts give me a pretty good idea of which movies to watch so thank you as always May Leitz !
For one of my editing classes in film school I wrote a final paper on found footage films, what makes them work or makes me hate them and this series speaks to me deeply. Pouring one out for some of the films you have to watch through this but the gems are worth it!
I'm always delighted to see a new video, you're a good hang. "Candles are made to be burned," like I have literally been making candles. I appreciate putting your music video out like this, your talents are so diverse!
I find it super interesting that you found Lake Mungo realistic as well. It got to me in a way not a lot of horror movies have, but I chalked it up to being aussie and that movie looking like exactly the kind of program you’d come across randomly turning on the TV here. Like, the people in it could be people I know in real life. If it has that effect on people outside Australia too then they did an even more amazing job on it than I originally thought!
im so glad you saw and loved the bay. i scream from the rooftops to recommend it every time someones talking about found footage/mockumentary horror stuff. its so friggen good and deserves so much more attention than it got/gets!!

paused this movie TWICE to go watch movies (Taking of Deborah Logan and The Bay) and i am only 32 minutes in! and im gonna pause again so i can waych devils pass probably!! i was safe in tier 1 since I had seen most of them but i can tell i will not be so lucky with the other iceburg..levels...whatever they're called.
I find myself rewatching this tonight.
Its been a hard week- but your content really comforts me. Thank you, May :)
0:07 Was that a joshua schmidt video in the background???
It is!
I knew I heard yugioh terms there
Love to see a May Leitz upload ❤
I came here to see what you had to say about behind the mask the rise of Leslie Vernon because it's one of my all time favourites because it's so silly at parts and I love that about it, the fact it plays around with all the typical slasher tropes is really fun, I'm genuinely so happy that it was on the iceberg because I feel that it's very underrated, I honestly probably wouldn't have found it or even watched it without the UA-cam channel Dead Meat doing a kill count on it
I do hope we get to see more gizmo in the future
The gallows being the last on this list is so funny to me. I remember seeing it in theaters and literally forgot about it until now. I suggest watching it with a group of friends who loves making fun of movies
Can't believe 'Creep' and 'The Last Exorcism' were right next to each other in this video!!! Those are like, the main two movies i wanted to hear your opinion on- They're very near and dear to my heart :) Thank you for taking the time to review this iceberg. This series is already so fun ^__^
the bingo idea is genius! Can't wait for the rest, I literally watched the troll hunter bc of you
i hardly, if ever, have watched any found footage movies, and its not like i don't go out of my way to avoid them i just don't know where to start (the only movie ive seen so far from this series is one cut of the dead - and again, NOT really a found footage) so watching your videos and hearing your thoughts give me a pretty good idea of which movies to watch so thank you as always May Leitz !
need a found footage-esque short film about Gizmo
I like the videos on the lower tiers, but am genuinely hype for when shit just gets unbearably weird
You are literally the entire reason I got into horror films and films in general, thank you for your continued hard work!!!
Im glad you liked The Bay because it's one of my favorites
For one of my editing classes in film school I wrote a final paper on found footage films, what makes them work or makes me hate them and this series speaks to me deeply. Pouring one out for some of the films you have to watch through this but the gems are worth it!
The bingo is so real lmao I think you cracked the albeit simple code to found footage
i can’t wait to get the new cover of your book!
Your hair looks great as always May
My experience with FF got a lot better since I watch them on the internet
Found Footage combines with Fast Forward
It's soooooo good May. Love this vid and can't wait for the next one
Love love LOVE it, thank you for dropping new music!
nyx ily i’ve been watching your acct for 8+ years now and always love to see u upload !!!
i’m also louis from family guy
You make some of the only videos that I consistently recommend to a wide range of people. I'm not sure if that proves you're an awesome content creator or if it indicates I'm kind of messed up.
