Extra note: if you like playing 1v1 but get frustrated by the *insane* person to person skill differences (and yes, you can meet plats here that are way harder than some diamonds for instance) well... in duels you're also going to face people who barely play ones, and get thrown into plat, but are diamond 3 or champ 1 in 2s and 3s. Those will be easy to recognize as they're mechanically very gifted, but might still pass you the ball for no reason - as they forget there's no teammates and that ball that he just shot off your backboard is already well on its way towards his own goal.

No hate but if this is after your placements then the mmr threshold is much lower. Diamond in 2s used to be like 930 now it’s 800 yk?

This video is very underrated. I went from mid D3 to champ 2 in less than a week purely by increasing my speed and challenges. All I did was practice and warm up by smashing the ball around the field at supersonic and pre-jumping for rebounds.
The rest seemed to come naturally.
Fr? i been doing this and still D3 and before this i was D2 for a whole year. Should i stop playing with my plat friends if i want to rank up?
@@JibJabJuice the biggest tip I was given was to watch GC and SSL gameplay and focus on how little hesitation they have and try to replicate it in your own gameplay.
Getting in people's faces the whole game really puts them on the back foot.
But don't forget to rotate out fast.
Ive stayed consistently around high champ 1 / low champ 2 now because of it.

1 tip if your new. make a private match & 1/2 the speed. practice hitting the ball & catching the ball. if you get it down at half speed it'll be easier when your trying it at full speed mainly to help with car control. you can see all your inputs near instantly along with exactly what your car will do if you do a specific things. one amazing tip i heard about rocketleague is its not a racing game. push a button &, release (half release - gas/rev) dribbling is hard if you're trying to be precise with the amount of gas you're giving it. instead of gas, release, full gas, let it up then gas again. or when using your reverse, tap breaks/ keep gas and hold breaks.

Also dont ball chase and know your teammates playstyle and go for passes and be smarter snd faster when playing.

As long as you know these things im sure u will get out.Its not guaranteed that it will work since when i was gold to plat i hit flip resets and air dribbles ;) .

@@mat_s_s1516 the mmr thresholds got changed, my peak last season was around 1285 (champ 1 div3, close to 4) and that is this season c2 div 4

I am champ in 2s and diamond in 1s and I can confirm that the diamond section is 100% accurate. We are just faster plats with the same inconsistency :D

dude im glad you mentioned bad team8ts with the soft reset...i literally went from Plat 3 div 4 to plat 2 div 3 because NONE of my team8ts scored...it was actually pretty amazing, back to ba k games...i would score like 4-6 times and my team8 wouldnt score at all...might i add he had NO assists either. a few games i had opponents who both had the champ season reward banner...but im literally plat like wtf...still scored on them a few times but my team8 said his hand was broken so thats why he was playing bad...i did the unranked games with my friend and hes good but i feel like im a bit better... or at least i dont lag as much so hes at a disadvantage and he whiffed a few times for a save or made a bad challenge that got us scored on. Love playing with him but he lags and it makkes us lose games. I try to blame myself so i can improve...but its really hard when you get games with a champ smurf team8...but since hes tryna freestyle but is bad at it he misses...leaves me in a 2v1...then he rushes back and barely hits it...messed me up so i cant make a big clear...and then we get scored on.
I started in November, it took me a month or two to make gold my permanent rank. Last week I managed to reach plat for the 10th time and I finally was able to stay there. So I’m finally a stable plat player. Now I need to win a play tournament. I got so close to win one last season but there was two Gcs in the finals and it was pretty annoying facing those virgins
This will also help but also another tip is that u should never get off the ball like leaving ur teammate in a 1v2 that’s how tanks above silver lose alot it’s mostly about never staying off the ball no matter what never put ur teammate in a 1v2 and when it’s offense time play with ur teammate don’t leave him in a another 1v2 it’s like a 1v2 for ur teammate the whole game big mistake.
I'm plat - diamond and I over speed flip but when ur plat try and learn speed flips because on kick off you will win most kick offs and probably score alot
So just for reference. I'm pretty new but I'm decent I think at the game. I started playing last season and made it to gold III. In silver we rarely came up against a new that missed constantly. We can aerial, we don't miss nearly as much as you show, we can take shots off the wall, and we can fiick. That's all the stuff I've seen in silver III
I don't know how but at this Time while Rocket League become free i startet at Platinum 1 and after season 1 i got instandly Diamond 3 but didnt Took Long i was between Platinum 3 and Diamond 1 again, now in season 3 i got ranked Into Diamond 2 and rushed to Diamond 3 and im stuck at this point my highest Rank in competiv was Diamond 3 and Division 4, i was Pretty Frustrated because i want to become a Champion. NOW ITS TIME TO RANK UP.

So in essence to pass bronze u need big brain plays like whiffing the ball so many times that the ball grows tired and rolls in the goal
I moved from plat 1 div 3 to plat 2 div 2. I expect NRG or SSG to call soon
For me I went from diamond 1 and finished my placements games and went to Diamond 3 div 3 i dont know how this happened
Rank threshold is much lower now by like 150 mmr

Today I'm gonna share my nostalgic journey from nothing to gold.
Please read.
Bronze
When I first started playing rocket league, I had no idea there was something called ball cam. I'd be stuck to car cam, and sometimes question how my opponents read the ball behind them. I still have trouble using ball cam. I can't hit the ball, my flips are scuffed, and my aerial is like a bronze's.
That was the main reason why I was better than my fellow bronzes. They can hardly hit the ball, as I noticed hitting the ball is harder with ball cam. But I was a full car cam player, and I had no trouble aiming the ball, and flipping into it.
Silver
Believe it or not, I actually learned to speedflip while I was a bronze, which was the main reason I reached silver after just a month of playing the game. I'd win every single kickoff, and if it is angled correctly, I'd always score a free goal, making my opponents forfeit after 4 or 5 goals. But keep in mind that I don't angle it correctly every time.
When I reached silver, I had just 10 hours in the game. I went from silver 1 to silver 3 in a few weeks. I learned how to aerial , half flip (a pretty bad one), etc. I currently use the paladin, just because I got a decent decal for it, and I didn't for the octane. So far, I haven't seen a single other player that uses this car.
Gold
I haven't reached gold yet I'm Silver 3 division 4 lol

Honestly I'm not qualified to give tips since I'm gold 3 but I just recommend playing a lot with ball cam and eventually you'll just get used to it

I got from gold 2 to plat 2 in 3's in 2 days just by learning how to shadow defense and powershots and from gold 3 to plat 1 in 2's and 1's
Getting out of gold is not that hard you just have to master a thing or two I recommend getting better at accurate powershots
I think that playing to get better rather than winning can be helpful for all ranks

Did you see the change for elo? The previous elo from d2 is now c1, and everywhere has moved the same. My friends and I have all placed much higher than ever before, and I feel like it’s taken away the sense of achievement when we’ve just been handed a better rank from epic
I'm a plat who do unhesitated prejumps, speeding alot, flips. But i use keyboard, the main challenge to get more consistent directional. I need to learn using controller and it sucks for me.

@Mark Donald it really did this is the thing with plats they think that they’re so good because they learned how to air dribble or whatever but what you need is speed, brains and consistancy
lmao i had the best reset ever.I was stuck in gold 2 even though i was plat 3 i 1s and now im in plat 2 div 3 after the reset. Note i played 5 matches after i hit plat to get myself higher.

I joined my first match in 2v2... one of the opponents was in S2 Plat, the other one was in S2 gold... and my teammate was in S2 silver and I was in S2 also Gold... pretty fair...

They also widened the range of diamond champ and gc as they were under populated so it should be easier to get there. For example last season in 2s 1515 mmr was gc1 i think and im 1458 mmr right now and im gc1 div 1 already.
Last season I was Diamond I Div IV stuck between D2 and D1.
Now in season 3 I'm Diamond III Div III
I'm almost champ and I'm actually excited to be considered decent.

last season I was champ 1 div 1, I didnt do my placement matches yet, but I'm with around 1200 mmr, that is around c2, and it actually worries me
s1 I started and touched plat in 2s at the end of it.
s2 I went from barely plat to barely diamond in 1s and 2s.
s3 I WILL touch champ. LET'S GO it's gonna be hard.

Since there's a soft reset every new season what I do is play casuals for 1-3 days and then I start doing placement matches so most of the people I go against will be my skill level and not sweats/ high ranked player
Don't know if it's just me I played my placement matches got diamond one but I was plat one last season have I got better or did I get carried?
Your the same. Rank threshold lower so it’s easy to hit diamond when diamond mmr now was the same as plat in a sense

I deserve gold 3, because I’m silver 3 in 2s and 3s, but gold 1 in ones. I am much more mechanical than regular silvers, I can half flip, arieal, speed flip, and air dribble of the ground. And my game sene is pretty good, too. I have plat friends and i sometimes get MVP. Back to my game sense, I have good rotations, and boost saving.

As a plat, I can say there are those who blindly challenge the ball and miss, and those who can actually air dribble and flick the ball top left corner 30% of the time. There is 10% of us plats though that on some days, can beat grand champs. Don’t know how, the 10% are just cracked. I’m in the 30%, once beat a GC, haven’t since.
As a plat, i always do ground air dribbles as my opponents in 1s cant save. Its so easy and effective
