    With regard to the 'slow' shifting, I have the current EPS and via the app it's possible to set the speed of shift to slower, normal and race, which is quite a bit quicker than the slower settings. Maybe your bike had the speed set to a slower setting.

      Vaughan C are you happy with how fast the shifting is when it’s set to race? How does it compare to Di2?

    As others have stated, you should’ve inquired about the shifting settings. There are three modes, with the raciest setting shifting very quick and hard.

    Question! I'm thinking of EPS as the component for my next build. However, I wonder if you can customize shifting functionality via Campy App?

    • @wss327
      @wss327 3 роки тому +1

      Yes you can, but… I built my SR EPS about the time when iOS 15 was rolled out, which I think was about 5 weeks ago. Not sure if it was the Campag App and iOS 15 incompatibility or the rear derailleur, of which I later found out to be faulty, that caused so much grief. My newly replaced rear derailleur works perfectly but rather than screwing with the app and Custom settings, I now just leave it on factory default of Race Shifting and Standard Lever set up. The SR EPS looks great, more unique than Shimano or SRAM and runs incredibly smoothly… except a few loud clunks downshifting in certain gears.
      Oh, as for integrating it… your mechanic might curse you a bit… it takes hours….

    Cant wait to see which direction the Moral Compass falls by the Cycling Tips Podcast Team on this product after recent episodes. When Campy has an Ex-doper as their tester/Ambassador of the product !!!!!!!!!

      I'll pass this question on to the podcast guys. It's actually a good question about brands on a whole. He was there as the guy that was part of the test team, not so much as an ambassador and he's not used in promotion material as far as I know. It's certainly a tough call. All I can say is that he was a pleasure to be around at the launch.

    Thanks for that Sir, ill stick to my R/SR 12v mechanical. Im sure a bit of software will change the actual shift speed. id have thought that only fast and really fast would be on the test bikes.....

  • @waynosfotos
    @waynosfotos 5 років тому +6

    I will have to say a pretty disappointing vid by cycling tips, very on the surface and really told us nothing new.
    How about how the software works, what can be changed. Response from Campy on the slow shifting?
    More technical information like SRAM provided for the ASX.
    The old EPS was lightening quick, If electric is slower than mechanical what is the point? Same with SRAM, slow shifting, well I will not be spending thousands more for a slower shift and more expensive parts.

      A lot of guys are saying that there are three shift speed settings to choose from when you’re setting up this group. It’s possible his particular group was set on one of the slower two settings. Seems as if he wasn’t even aware shift speed is adjustable.

    • @giovanniGLR

      the reason to buy a top level groupset with a '''just average powemeeter '' ? inclued stages and quarq are not on the same level of sram red and dura ace groupsets , campagnolo is doing the right thing , the other two are wrong
      if you want to buy a freaking power meter of the same level of the groupset , you don't buy the stock crank ring and instead you buy the srm campagnolo crank(yes ther is an offical crank for campagnolo by srm) ,same brand and 1% acuracy ,both brands(srm and campagnolo ) with a lot of heritage, if wanna spend less and have similar results you can buy a ng strada by power to max .
      if you don't care about top acuracy is better buying a pedal based powermeeter(like asissoma or srm ekat) instead of spider based one because with pedal based one you can:
      1)use any kind of crank even ultralight ones
      2)change chainrigns 15 mintes before the race
      3)if on your next bike you are gonna change the ''groupset brand'' you can easily keep your powermeter(they are not cheap )
      but most important
      if on the day of the race(or for any reason ) you don't give a fuck about data and you wanna use your feeling , you don't have to carry around dead wheight,if you leave all there somehow you are gonna check your stats
      you need just an Allen key to remove power meeter and head unit and break free
