    The HK 416 was an amalgamation of the M4 and G36 (AR18) gas system. The current standard issue for the Norweigian Armed Forces, and soon to be for the French Army. Developed for the express purpose of supplying a reliable and accurate firearm for US Special Operations Forces, the HK416 is also known for taking down Bin Laden.
    Later adapted by the USMC as the M27 (with modifications), the HK416 serves as a main weapon for many forces around the world.
    Unfortunately H&K does not sell the original HK416 parts to civilians, but we were able to get a Brownells "kit build" BRN4 (it's actually their rifle that they display at expos) with all HK parts except for the reproduction lower receiver, barrel and bolt for legal importation reasons.

    Cleanest run I ever seen. For the Semi-Auto rifles. Indeed, good optic, good rifle, and good ammo, and of course a pinch of Henry Chan make a formula of greatness. XD Especially in those weather conditions! Love it!
    And it does recoil recoil more (MR556) and is crazy heavy in its balance as you guys said. Oh and that take down tool needed for it... Kinda annoying, imo. Especially, if it doesn't really give the rifle anything, but a plecbo effect for people who get bothered by the slight wobble that AR receivers have.

With no formal training at this time I’m impressed with what I can do with it at 200 yards I would love to see what you guys could do with it. I would love to see you all discuss/compare the LPVOs on the market for different budget categories. At least of the one's you have had experience with. It seems they make a good difference with your course of fire.

    • @GunFunZS
      @GunFunZS 4 роки тому

      I don't think they do low budget category. I would like that too.
      I can say that I really like the Primary Arms 1-8 ACSS illuminated, particularly the side zoom knob version (unless I'm misremembering that feature.) It is really good, and about the right size etc. With the tube zoom ring, you want to throw one of those zip tie things like Russel Phagan uses on, as quick lever. I wish it went up to ~12x, but it is very hard to beat. ~$300-400 depending on which version. It really is almost an eotech on 1x. The bottom post is too thick at longer ranges, but all in all, it's my pick if you have the budget.
      I have a nikon 2-7 variable with a BDC which is kinda goofy, meant for 300 BO, but no specified setup. It does similarly, but lacking the horseshoe bit. Also pretty good for around $130 on ebay most of the time.
      - Note, in general, I would rather have mildot or mrad than some BDC, but any of them still provide a useful reference, even if they don't actually correspond to the trajectory of your specific ammo barrel combo. Nikon has great scopes, but some of the dumbest BDC nonsense. The quick measuring features are generally Okay, but the ACSS system is really well thought out and a nice balance of having useful things which aren't in the way or too distracting or complicated to actually use on a quick shot. Eye relief is very forgiving on 2x, but it isn't going to compare to a red dot. You can have about 1" of linear slop on your cheek weld and still take the shot. That's a lot, but infinite is a whole other deal. So they don't exactly replace a red dot, but I think they cover more applications, and are still better than irons up close.
      People rant a lot about optical clarity and first focal plane. Nice things for sure, but the real thing you ought to care about is 1. Field of view at distance, bigger being better 2. having a large functional eye relief range, so it's forgiving about awkward firing positions. 3. Clear glass comes next and doesn't make much practical difference until after ~300 meters or so for most people. 4. Whatever the zoom knob position, if it is very stiff, it is almost useless. You find your shot on low or mid, then zoom in. But with a stiff knob, you will lose the target while wrestling with the scope. I've seen this be a problem on some really expensive optics. Made them less useful for practical stuff than a basic tasco whatever.
      I took it as given that starting power is 3x or lower.
      Bottom line, I would take a $35 walmart 3x9x40 over iron sights any day. Any glass that you can get properly located relative to your eye is better than any irons. There are a lot of good choices. Get one of them and shoot, rather than not getting one to save up for whatever the internet thinks is the awesomest coolguy gear.

    • @alienmediapro
      @alienmediapro 4 роки тому +1

      @@GunFunZS thank you for the great info... I agree with everything you said. I'm sure they do not do low budget. But whatever categories they have experience with. I'm sure I have not.
      I have a cheap 1-4 that well at least holds zero. Eye box is terrible. I don't have the resources to buy different options to try so I was hoping for some good comparisons.
      Of course I've heard of Primary Arms and vortex. It seems one may have better glass but the other better reticle. And maybe there is an option I've overlooked?

    • @GunFunZS
      @GunFunZS 4 роки тому

      @@alienmediapro Probably many it's a fast growing segment. I personally hope Nikon catches on to what we want. IMO their glass is best per price point.
      (And I have played with stuff made by Bender and Schmidt and Zeiss and other things of that tier. They are excellent, but if they are optimized to ELR, they suck for any thing else. IMO the price isn't what makes the optic. Being designed for your particular use is. )
      Here's the competition grade universal quick zoom lever: www.amazon.com/dp/B009SPDU3C/?coliid=I1CYX2F9N7I384&colid=1WFKH33RH593J&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

      Stick a 6" piece of yarn on the front of your forend as a wind gauge and you cover a lot of bases for being able shoot better a little bit further than is easy to do, while still having a light handy rifle. (trick stolen from the chanel of a guy who does a lot of camo content, and a lot of videos about ACSS, etc. Brent????) It works when I think to use it.

    • @GunFunZS
      @GunFunZS 4 роки тому

      @@alienmediapro I can't think of the name, but there is a company with etched reticle scopes under $300. They have a more complex reticle, but it means that you can have really clear glass, and very accurate holdovers for long range stuff, without the cost of having super precise click mechanisms. Basically, put it on full zoom, and you can always trust your holds to be correct. Kenny at Eagle Eye shooting did a few comparisons of extremely low price point stuff that was letting him shoot past 1K reliably. Look at his earlier vids to see some options. That's more budget long range oriented than the LPVO thing though.

      I'm using the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 on my MR223A3 (the European version of the MR556, which is actually closer to the current HK416s) and I'm very happy with that one. You can get them on sale for under 300 bucks (I paid 330 EUR, including 19% VAT and shipping). There is also a 1-8x24 version which is a bit more expensive (which was part of the reason why I went with 1-6, and because the 1-8 wasn't available over here in Germany when I was looking for one) but obviously offers a bit more magnification.

      M16 is as good as it needs to be. It will shoot better than the operator @99.9% reliability. Anything 'better' is just weighs and costs more, with no practical benefit. The flattop is probably the single biggest improvement that's been made to the platform, since the A2 sights.
      You can afford a PSA build, that will be the equal of a used Colt A2. Mine, with a MOE stock, Umbrella Corp grip, round handguard and surplus carry handle, is about $375, all in. Just buy a cheap MILSPEC lower from someone, assemble it and wait for sales to finish it out.

    I know this may be a bit out-of-the-way, but i was wondering if you guys could do a comparison of a free-floated and non-free floated barrel using the AR platform (seeing as it's one of the most commonly owned guns in the U.S. nowadays) in both the 20" and 16" versions with Gov't prof barrels. Not only that, but i would also like if y'all did a camparison between the two when using accessories such as a bipod and sling to show how much POI shift would result between them. I think the info would be especially useful for someone who's trying to decide which route to take for what they're going to be doing with their AR, as well as those who like to argue their points on the forums lol.
    Think that'd be something y'all would look into doing?
    Edit: The same guns should be used to eliminate as many variables as possible, and to use non-free float rails would mean guns with FSBs installed have to be used. But i think you guys get that. :)
