The CZ 806 "BREN 2" is the latest and final (so far) iteration of the Czech Military's formally adapted weapon system. Greatly improving up on ergonomics and decreasing more than 1lb of weight, the BREN 2 has a nickname as the "SCAR killer".
So did the weight loss come at a price with accuracy or usability? How would an ideal setup for a mid-distance range be like for the rifle? What type of practical accuracy could we expect from it?
Ammunition used:
Magtech 55 grain .223 ball
Scope used:
Trijicon TA31 ACSS Aurora

It's amazing how different the Bren looks when you move the mag from the top to the bottom of the weapon
I non-ironically do proclaim this man to be one of class and sophistication.
That was BrEn with uppercase E (Brno + Enfield). This is just a Bren.
@@honzabalak3462 the joke went over your head like a plane heading for 2 towers
Dude, I get it, that was funny, the theory of the top mounted vertical mag, to help you get lower to the ground-must have sucked at mag change time.
@@btfup nope, it was actually even better than a bottom magazine. The gunner could easily grab the magazine and change it while walking with the gun held low, instead of having to raise the muzzle of a fairly heavy gun to grab a bottom mounted magazine (think walking fire, sort of) _AND_ the magazine in the the perfect place for the assistant gunner to strip it from the gun, hand it back to a loader, and slap a new one in while the gunner doesnt need to move the rifle off his shoulder or change his sight picture. The top mounted magazine, _as the gun was designed for_ was superb. Now, are top mounted magazines better everywhere? Heavens no, but they are better for a light machinegun of this era.
The Czechs are master small arms makers and you can see it here in the Bren 2. It can be argued they have the most modern rifle out of all NATO members
And the price is a bargain
Bren 805 was converted to STANAG magwell after the first two deployments in Afghanistan, at least for soldiers on deployment. Also, Vz 58 is still "in service" in active reserve forces (Czech equivalent of National Guard)
Sometimes we still use Vz.58 at the Officer's Academy.
@@anordinarytrooper507 Not anymore. University of defense also switched from 58s to Brens. Not sure how it is in Vyškov but as far as I know all units including reservists should have issued 805s.
@@Likosak First and I think the second grade too still use vz58 for training. Trust me I ran through the woods with that gun many times this year. 😀
First edition (805) was or is piece of sh*t. The worst rifle I've ever had in my arms. Everything was wrog. So in nowadays is 806 masterpiece. Why? Because this rifle was improved by ex-czech MP SOG. It's meat that U can built everything what can shoot but without real experience from war it gonna be *ucking piece of metal...
@@martinl1422 well I have heard that the development of the 805 was rushed a bit and that they needed some extra time and resources to fine tune it
I really like the honesty in these videos when they make a mistake, most people won’t admit it or they would just edit it in post.
Great video... I like that you guys keep it short sweet and to the point. The additional cut scenes helped me learn some things about distance shooting thanks.
This is why I love the channel. You really get to see how accurate a rifle or pistol can be. Grade A stuff gentlemen!
Your production / technical looks of your video is some of the very best I see on YT. Congrats on that, plus a very informative spot as well.
I love these guys discoverd them a month ago and have watched every video they got... where have I been. Henry makes me smile just on the intro
2:07, me the day after eating hot foods, on the throne.
The CZ 806 BREN 2 is a good-looking piece of kit! And it shoots well, too, it would appear. Great vid!
should have paid attention to the thing in the top right corner, that would've told you it was hitting :3
LOL
Amateurs
Well done. You all make fantastic content, always happy to see it.
Great video and shooting excellence in motion. Great work gents! Looking forward to the next great one.
Good review gents. I am a big believer in that ACSS reticle!
Really enjoyed hearing the thoughts of the iterative improvements/differences between this and 805 rifle.
I really wish CZ would just mass produce this in .308 already. I have been waiting for that for years now.
I mean they do but like the bren 2, It'll takes a few years. Bren 2 introducted in late 2015 and we got it in 2019. Bren 2 BR showed up in 2018 so we should see it sometime next year. That would be a reasonable assumption before Covid-19 and America's new administration became a factor.
Omg I love seeing this honestly in your videos this helps me out so much!
now this what i was waiting 4
Can´t wait for that G36 in the background.
Hello 👋
Czech guy here. Thanks for nice review of the gun. I own a civilian version of BREN 2 myself but I didn't actually knew that it is possible to shoot on such a crazy distance. But when you give a good gun to a good shooter, everything is possible apparently 😁
One more detail: CZ actually developed a marksman version of BREN 2 called BREN 2 PPS (.308 cal). But I'm not sure if it's available on civilian market 🤔
CZ makes some of the best firearms on the planet
Big CZ fan I’ve shot my 14.5” Bren 2 out to 700 yards with 77 grain rounds. Amazing weapon
I measured the trigger pull on my Bren 2. From the center of the trigger with a Wheeler electronic gauge, 3 lb 4 oz.
Love to see you guys do a lever rifle in 30-30!
got to this about 5 seconds after catching up on the 805 video. Perfect timing lol
Awesome shooting! Love the part where you killed the target and #%*+

I want to see it melt.
MrBsct is that your fetish? Firearm meltdowns?
No, the G36 has a record of the barrel getting loose from the receiever under fire due to the plastic melting.
@@MrBsct that has been disproven quite a few times
loved the humor, great info

Too bad my local store only wants to stock the silly 8" version of these. I'd go for one of the 10.9 or 14.2" versions.
Toki -EJ1 I can’t stand sub 10 inch 556. Honestly I prefer 11.5 and longer, but that’s mainly because of ar15 engineering
@Smoov Cat be sure to measure it first because the Bren 2 has a 14.17" barrel not 14.5
@@johnnybagofdoughnuts4193 I'm pretty sure 10.9 and 11.5 will have hardly any difference in velocity. They label them as 11" because it practically is.
I have the 8” it’s awesome
@Smoov Cat good shit, I feel that but be careful where you announce that and who you tell about it. People are sheisty out there.
I can see why the military wants a 6.5 round, at distance there's virtually no energy left.
62 and 77 otm does a lot better at longer distances. The army mainly wants a *6.8* cartridge for armor piercing abilities. Current m855 a1 cannot pierce Russian lvl 4( I think) body armor. Inrange has a video about it with the test.
@@godwinjoy9730 im very curious how a 6.8 cartridge can penetrate lv4 armor ,even a 3006ap bullet in wsm still can not penetrate lv4 armor
That is the reason..Especially for places like Afghanistan where they have been fighting for like 50 years now and know our weapon capabilities and stay outside of that range and shoot at us with Dsska's.
@@sampjm1898 Russian level 4 is not the same as US level 4
nobody in the military wants 6.5 the 5.56 is perfect just need MK262, people aren’t steel they are soft flesh and 5.56 rips it a part just fine
Good video and interesting commentary my dudes
can't wait to see psa's jakl on this channel. yall are my favorite channel now btw
See! This is why y'all are great. The deep dives into why the rifle performed a certain way. Plus the amazing Henry Breaking Targets snafus. I love it, even if you didn't mean too. lol
I definitely want a CZ 806 myself! But I kinda want the Bren 2 BR (.308) too haha. 806 did amazingly well and the ability to use AR mags is just the cherry on the topping of the 806. Oh, and love that they added a non-reciprocating charging handle to the 806. *STARES AT FNH'S SCAR Mk. 16 & 17 WITH MALICIOUS INTENT*
That G36 at background though, can't wait for that badboy to be used!
Nice work i wish all the best, i have one suggestion that you use tracer ammunition it will will be easier for the viewers and you to chase the round and the impact point
I wish you guys would have talked about this vs the SCAR 16 but great episode as usual!
Loved the edits and back and forth cuts, nice work piecing this vid together!
Still waiting on that AI you guys teased during the Q&A's
Thumbs up.
I'm sure you're aware of the Romanian WASRs reputation..but I've found that the WASR is surprisingly accurate for akm standards.
I'm glad that Hungary decided to produce these.
The cycling action looks pretty brief and solid.
I just ordered a bren 2, I don't know anyone else that has one so I was taking a risk on a rifle i knew SHOULD be good lol. Glad to see it perform as I would expect.
Did you get the Bren 2 Ms carbine?
jirax14 pistol
Great analogy!!!! It was really funny and I almost choked on my crayon....
I love this channel so much but if I may add a small request, maybe use the same 556 with each test, it creates an even baseline for all rifles
no, it doesn't. identical Ammunition may perform very differently in another rifle.
Accuracy is always a result of a combination of factors, including the weapon, the ammunition and the environment.
When you own a gun you're likely going to shoot it with the off-the-shelf ammunition that produces the very best results with that particular gun.
@@metallkopf988 no shit🤯 but when you run certain platforms with match grade rounds and others with the cheapest crap you can find your not being fair to certain platforms. 9 holes generally is running what they can find not what’s best for the gun.
love the g36 in the background
I know ACOGs are supposed to be old school tech, but that ACOG you were using with the ACSS reticle was quite impressive.
that’s what I said, big advantage there.
@@brassvulcher8207 dude, you almost had me ready to run out and buy one of these things.
In the words of my old homie spongebob, I don't need it. I don't need it. I definitely don't need it.
Fantastic video! I'd be interested in seeing you test the 7.62x39 model and your hearing your thoughts on a comparison of the two.
Love that rifle. Wish it had a longer hand guard. Looks kinda strange so short. Could you all do a bushmaster ACR?
I got the HB Industries 11” hand guard and it really makes the rifle complete
@@longrangeirons2524agreed, and they now have a 13.8” and 15.8”. Do Europeans have t-Rex arms?
@@HunterMikeWI evidence suggests they do haha
I don't have a spotter so I use Plasti Dip on a steel target that way I can confirm my own hits. On a overcast day I use orange and when it's sunny I use white. Makes a world of difference and it peels right off when your'e done if you have to remove it!
When I lived in Washington state we used to shoot across canyons a lot.
Once we tried shooting after a heavy frost.
The frost was thawing and evidently the thermals were going crazy. After 15 rounds
We went home. Nothing repeated at all one shot would be as much as 4 feet from the other. Normally at 1100 yards the rifle I was shooting grouped between 4 and 6 inches.
Not that day.
Henry senpai is a very good saleman. I have to stop mid video to look for a Cz bren 2 locally. Please make more vids, I can’t go through a month without your review. You are like har gow for my shu mai. I love you Henry dage.
Be interesting to see an episode revisiting some of these older trials. Just a whole video of systems like this, G36, AUG, galil arm, videos taken before you guys upgraded the filming and spotting equipment
Agree
The "pistol" with the brace and 14" barrel is a nice setup.. Although the 11" is also nice
Saw Robski rock’n Slate Black gear ! 👍
Now you have to do Bren mk.1 ;) Or ZB vz.26 to make it complete;)
this man knows.
I want to see the 7.62x51 version run the course. I think lots of us do?
Tis a good rifle
ACOG with ACSS reticule is bootiful. Perhaps adding one to other rifles for testing purposes? Like if you were to add one to something like a classic Colt style rifle, a Kalashnikov or whatnot, I imagine it'd be an interesting test.
It is imperative that CZ bring Bren 2 BR to US
they have
I want a bren 2 14.5 pinned and welded muzzle break to 16" barrel length so I can put real stocks on it.
Looking forward to the Beretta ARX-100 magnified optic practical accuracy test with barrel swap zero hold test.
So what did you think of the elevated offset stock? Did it help reduce muzzle climb?
Love the CZ range
My shop has the 8.5 barrel version and I’m seriously considering it
I had no idea that Magtech now had .223 loads. I had only ever seen the full power 5.56 stuff. Maybe sticking to 5.56 loads would make it easier to see the hits at long range?
Negligible difference.
I hope to see the G36, if everything goes as planned, will be my service rifle. :)
Henry always breaking targets XD. Good video though !
Will you reshoot the rifles in which there was heavy wind? If I remember right, the m4, m16 didn’t do so hot in the wind
Hi guys, superb video of the Bren 2, Which scope are U using? I ordered the Bren 2 in caliber 223 REM (Belgium).
just to let you know that army wersion still have a rail on handguard so... we are not that much foward leaning as it seems im afraid
civilian rifles have M LOK beacause its cool and handy but army ones gets rail for more common accesories and NATO standatization
anyway nice video and great shooting
I guess I should clarify... the rifle can easily swap over to MLOK (or other interface systems) at a low-cost option, providing the most versatility... though the NATO rail standard is still taking some time to move forward as we've mentioned.
@@9HoleReviews oh i see now
thanks for reply i love you channel profesional and friendly at the same time
Did you know, that the Hungarian Army got this rifle as a service rifle?
i thought its in preparation but not in servise yet
did the cz 806 come to hungarian soldiers allready?
not VHS2?
Austro Hungary comeback
GIGN uses some weird 7.62×39 variant
@Smoov Cat Not true actually :))
"806" - BREN 2 chambered in 5.56 - also can be chambered in 7.62
"807" - derived from BREN 2 and it's chambered in 7.62 and can be chambered in 5.56. It was originally developed for Indian army.
What would you rather take. Acog acss or EOTech with magnifier? I’ve heard the EOTech with magnifier is better for moving targets at distance because the field of view is larger and allows you to maintain a wider field of view.
ACSS Acog with RMR on top imho is the best combat optical set up. -Dimitri
Cz is hard at work guy's..great job cz..👍👍👍👍
Good shooting by the way..👍
This model's full name is Bren 2 Ms, the M stands for "modular" which is a civilian model with a removable handguard. I have one of the "2S" models that came in the US in early 2019, that one was the actual service Bren 2 platform with a non-select fire lower, and a non-removable handguard and less ergonomic design. And all of those service Bren 2 doesn't have m-lok rail pieces instead of 3 pics of Picatinny rail (Even the GIGN model). And this modular handguard concept was actually suggested by CZ-USA, not CZUB(From 2019 shotshow). It looks like the American markets have more experience on firearms' ergonomic designs.
Any chance for an M1 carbine in the future?!
I agree, the bolt hold open inside the trigger guard isn't the greatest idea. IMO, they should have taken a page from the acr and put it just outside of the trigger guard on each side. That's one the things the ACR got right. Actually, I like the ACR, but it's nose heavy and that kinda kills it. SBR ACR would be nice though. Anyway, the Bren 2 (MS) looks killer! I'd love to get my hands on one. I like the looks of the 14" bren 2 ms they imported sometime last year better than the 16.5" one they had at Shot Show 2020.
That is a beautiful tool!!!! 😍😍😍
How much do they go for today??
Nice work.
You did however point out why light weight pills should never be used in a .223. Just not enough kinetic energy at the target.
I guess the comparison would be, fast moving ping pong ball or medium moving brick!
stop teasing us with the g36
Please test Multi Caliber Rifle like a Robinson Arms XCR L up to 500 (.223 / 300BLK/ 7.62x39 /6,8 SPC) or the M to1000 (6.5CR / 308) ! and tell & explain about Twist / Stabilization and Barrel Length!
I was watching both vid CZ BREN2 and Galil ACE Rifle 7.62x39. And now question to Henry and Josh - What would you choose if you have to from these two rifles BREN2 or Galil ACE ? by overall points which gun you liked the most.
Thanks.
very nice videos!
Can you please do a review of bren 2 ms carbine.
the biggest noticeable difference for the better is eliminating the reciprocating bolt from the the bren 805 the improved accuracy is a bonus but the bolt release is a negligent discharge risk
I would like to know how this compares to the Sig Sauer MCX?
I need to get a Bren 2
That Aurora 😍
Will you be remaking the video with the bren 2 carbine variant? Since it has a heavy barrel and 4 pound trigger.
I thought they came with the space boot. You guys change the stock? Change anything else?
That is one awesome gun platform with your shooting Henry, makes it deadly at any range with less shots fired?
You’d know you hit nearly every time with less rounds fired when the target in a battlefield dosent get up again? Have you proven this weapons system is like a squad of snipers when faced with a combat scenario? This would make your contact to break and retreat Henry, with soldiers competent in using it to start with?
How does it compare to the 805? I remember it was windy that day but cant remember the results
Hope to see that HK g36 in practical accuracy test
7:18 i see what you tried and did there Henry

Does the Bren 2 have a polymer lower? Besides the obvious difference in shade of black between the upper and lower, the lower @0:35 looks like it has a rougher finish than the upper.
Polymer lower, carbon fibre reinforced
Hey fellas any suggestions on a range for shooting distance I’m in central Texas, or I don’t even mind a few hour drive
In all your field pics I saw they were running picc rail forends on issue rifles with STANAG AR mags...not the MLOK
How does it compare to the SCAR 16?
