I'd take ECBP over StaggyJ all day. I understand the high proof hounds but While ECBP never disappoints for me, I can not say the same for StaggyJ, and I don't have to stand in a stupid line for ECBP. Cheers Great Review can't wait to grab one or two or three or... well you get it.
Elijah Craig is generally a super smooth bourbon !! 123 is a beast !
I blind A123, C922 and a 10year BP. A123 won for me! Good stuff
Just got this bottle for 59.99 at Costco, after the first pour I think I got a steal of a deal!
I find the “neck pour” to be the worst pour. Most of my bottles get better after being open a few days. Maybe it’s in my head. I’ve already had the first pour of my A123… looking forward to the second. Very good.
This bottle is known to get MUCH better after just a week or 2 open & down the to the "E"
New to bourbon and showed up at open for the first time and scored an A123. To be fair I only have tried maybe 30 bourbons, but this blows everything I've tried out of the water. Wow. First elijah craig ive tried and ill be buying many more!
Found one yesterday. It's always an exciting day when you see it.
Great quick review, thank you. Yes if you two could please review it again later on to see if / how the flavors change, that would be great 😊.
I’ve been able to secure these for $75 in San Antonio and Austin… fairly regularly.
They really are remarkable.
I picked up EC A123 yesterday in Indiana on my way to KY. I found a bottle of EC B522 and a bottle of Larceny C922 in Florence, KY. On to Louisville tomorrow.
Just found this one today! Glad to hear your review. I can't wait to try it.
You're spot on with this category of stuff that keeps pricing in check (to the extent bourbon pricing can be considered having been kept in check), because these are very consistent hitters, even at 8 or 9 years for store pick barrel proof bottles.
Honestly, it could be a great show topic to expand on this idea and identify more bottles in this category.
For the price point these are absolute killers. I buy every single one I see.
Did a blind with a store pick single barrel against A22 and C22 and it was a coin flip who chose the store pick or C22. Everyone put A22 in last place though.
Maybe tell them "Bar-ometers" or something like that lol
Popped the cork tonight… it’s as good as you said!
Solid. I finally had a taste and while I liked it, it did not hit as hard as I had hoped. Cheers!
I love ECBP and really think Heaven Hill is underrated because they make so much value whiskey. 2022 was an incredible year for them and hopefully they are taking up in 2023 where they left off in 2022. I hope the Larceny BP is as good as last year. Cheers!
Was lucky enough to snag an Elijah Craig Private Barrel, Single Barrel uncut at a barrel proof of 124.5 this weekend in Virginia. Wow! That's good drinking.
I need to go back to my bottle. The way I described A123 was like a bookers if it came from HH. Tasted younger than the age statement, maybe 6-8 years old. Had the grain and a good bit of heat. Not in a bad way, but absolutely something different from even the newer ECBP's
A123 I have 2 bottles, well now a bottle and a half. It is damn tasty! Yes, Mikey likes it....
ECBP have yet to disappoint me. Routinely kills stuff twice the price.
I’ve been disappointed with roughly 7 ECBPs haha
@@brendankimif you have been disappointed with 7… the only logical thing I can deduct from that is you are disappointed when the bottle became empty. Lol
I love the long and sweets! Chad looked like he was in another place when he was nosing the glass! Haha!! Great review! Glad I found a bottle!
ECBP, along with Rare Breed and Four Roses Single Barrel are definitely "Puncher Uppers". They hit way above their price class.
I just grabbed one from King's Liquor in Kingman, AZ for $50. They also had a BUNCH of allocated, but at top secondary prices.
I got quite a few ECBP...they consistently knock it out the park!
I was doubly lucky to 1) purchase a bottle of the A123 2) at retail!
I have not opened it yet as I have about 6 bourbon bottles open that are less than 30% and time is a tick'n.
Thanks for sharing . . .
Damn delicious bottle… just popped it… my goodness.
Just picked one up from Kroger yesterday, VERY excited to open it after this review 😄
Just got it, and I love it... very nice, especially at 68.95 msrp 🎉
Been looking for this one down in GA for a few weeks and as far as I know hasn't hit here, very excited for this one after your review. On another note, I can't thank y'all enough for the Saints Alley Nobleman review.......WOW!!!!!, that bottle is sooooo awesome I went back out and got 2 back up bottles.
Its in Milledgeville right now just got 1
@@jakew6782 sweet, thank you for the heads up.
Both the EC and the Larceny barrel proofs are excellent.
Hope I can snag one. The larceny A123 was great!
Got ahold of all three batches last year, and as a newb on the bourbon journey over the last year and a half, the ECBP really can do no wrong. The new batch apparently has notes of oak and alchemist sorcery given our charming guides' review. I guess I will keep following Pan's flute where this particular brand is concerned. Cheers.
Really enjoy every batch, and its' something that comes to PA. Definitely keeping my eyes open to the FB posts to see when it drops in stores.
Thank you. Hope I can find a bottle in Montana!
So good. It’s like the Uigeadail of Bourbon.
ECBP is just the standard. It’s your favorite local steakhouse. Not the place you go for a super significant occasion. Not somewhere you would travel to just to dine there. But always great.
Call it an $80 bottle. Is there anything better at or below that price?
ECBP is creeping up to @ $90 with tax included in WI. It’s one of my favorites, but at that price, getting to be a 1-2 bottles per year purchase.
So hope to be able to review this one ourselves. Thanks for sharing.
C922 was great so if this is just as good then I’m getting 2 of these.
Good stuff, good review and painted nails! Well done y'all.
ECBP is hard to find in KC. too many "i want it cuz other people love it" peeps around here. when i've been able to get a pour, love it. never had a bottle of it tho.
If “A”, which is usually the lowest ranked of the yearly releases, is this good, can’t imagine what the rest of the year holds.
Lower age statements? 😂 To be fair they’ve said that they don’t want to be limited to 12 years so even though B was less maybe C will be higher?
Can’t wait to find one! Hasn’t dropped in my area yet
I've passed on most of the 21s, and 22s, because I have a good stock of B520 and C920, which I think are the best in the last few years, but I did like A122, and will probably pick this one up based on your review.
Hmmm might need to go back and get the ECBP I saw at my regular haunt. Had the larceny BP too. Both at price you mentioned.
Was going to get it but found a Blantons instead. May go back now
"Blantons instead" LOL 🤣
Sorry... couldn't help it
Thanks for the video 🥃
The C922 was excellent.
"The first sip is the best sip". Sounds like a country song.
Only two bottles left on the shelf, a C922 and a A123, and you can only pick one…which one are you reaching for?
These have been getting harder for me to find but I have been able to get several ECBP store picks. But they are typically only 8 years old and a bit more expensive.
Lmao love these reviews! Gives me this oaky charr, earthy, leaves, twigs, dirt and rocks kinda taste!😂🤣😂
Mmmmmmm sounds good! 😄
I would be all over these, but I never see them for less that $99. I don't mind paying about $10 over in my area, but many bottles of these types are +$20-$30
My store gets store picks of it for $99. That's why I haven't bought it yet
I got my first bottle for $120 when I didn’t know the MSRP.. still love it but man it’s hard knowing it’s like ~$60.
@@JustSomeTests it's not $60 anymore... unless you find it at Costco
I thought A123 was a bit muted. I never got a hug, which I really look for in ECBP. I enjoyed the sample I received but I preferred the 2022 releases. I agree the first sip is the best, because the oak gets a bit astringent over time.
Which 22 would you say you favor most?
@@BourbonFirst I like A122 the most because it has this apple note on the nose and the palate, but in blinds B522 and C922 have won for me, so it An a bit of a toss up. They’re all great.
So EC a123 is 130 around me but i can get the c922 for 110..... which should i pick up? 🤔
Peter tingle, there's a joke in there somewhere but im trying to find it! 🤣
Think HH read all these comments from you all, about them never missing, can't go wrong, always great, etc. & decided to prove you all wrong w B523 😂
Category for ECBP: Hero
LOL! $70! I've found a few bottles here in Florida. $100. Nothing less then that.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
CarAmel. Carmel refers to a location. CarAmel is in reference to flavor. (Care- uh - mel)
I'm sitting on 4 from previous releases. Likely will pass on them this year.
Idk about y’all but after a glass or two… it starts tasting like water.
I missed C922😢. Sure hope I find A123
C922 has not even been released yet here is Colorado
@@MW-lw8em Finally saw it in MD in late Dec.
Was that a Goonies reference? 😂
You two are a Great Team! Sara is much easier on the eyes than you are Chad.. Jussayin
Here in upstate NY I just bought my first bottle at $95.99 plus Tax 🙄 gotta love NY not
👍🥃👍
ECBP's place in the bourbon market is a reality check for all of the overpriced/overhyped special releases which come in at twice the price and half the quality.
The price stays the same because there is NO REASON for it to increase. The brands that raise prices do so because of…..
1.Infulencers…..I’d pay this much. This is way under priced
2: because the new consumer doesn’t know better
What needs to happen is for all the UA-cam influencers to come together and after the review. Don’t state a “fair price”. Tell everyone they are stupid if they pay over. That’s it’s NOT worth it especially if it’s sourced. Just get it straight from the source. Then the uninformed viewer won’t pay over the msrp because you told them so. And yes, this would work because the average person normally only does what they are told. These bottles aren’t the best thing that will ever come along. There are literally MILLIONS of barrels that will ALWAYS be coming along. Don’t believe the hype train
Again... Becoming the over-sought, over-priced lemming magnet. "What does UA-cam tell me is good? Got it (buys it all up, tells everybody they have 3 bottles, forces it into allocation and/or enters into the bourbon museums of greedy liquor store owners)". What a sht cycle.
I get your complaint but it doesn’t apply to ECBP cause its everywhere and never goes for secondary prices because of that.
@@jasono.1629 😂👍
It’s $99 here behind the counter if you are lucky. I’ve never seen it on a shelf in Texas.
@@jpcampbell We saw it a few times when we bourbon hunted in Austin for a pretty decent price if I remember right.
@@jpcampbell $99 is normal price for it here in CA too. It never goes too much higher than that anywhere as most major metro areas get a ton of it.
Still requesting videos with just Chad.
Seriously? Oh well, different strokes. . . . .. .
WTF?
Haven't been hearing the best things about this first release. Several reviews saying the tannins are heavy and it's extremely drying which is pretty much in line with your take. Maybe it opens up better with time. Will be interesting to see your next take on it but so far I think I'll pursue other bottles and wait for 523.
