Just picked mine up today and I don’t care about the age and proof on these bottles. This one is sweet up front and a nice spice finish and I think it’s a really nice pour. Paid 55.00 for mine!!! Cheers!
Good review. Seems to be the general consensus that it falls short a bit but still a good bottle. Hate the price went up but what hasn’t!
I just "bought" (ordered for pick up at the store) my A124 for $60.00.
I don't get distracted by all the negativity surrounding proof and age. I've dug every EC Batch that I have had so far (B522, B523, C923), and I expect to dig this one, as well. I've heard "butterscotch" in other places, and that's bodes well. Thanks!
In Iowa, we don’t see the numbered Elijah Craig releases like A124 but do see barrel strength store picks which suit my palate fine. Another UA-camr, Beyond the Row, just did a 6-way blind of 10 yr bourbons between 90 and 100 proof. Results were interesting.
Not true - found C923 in Ames last fall, not a large quantity drop by any means and had to pay a hundo but can be found if you know how / where / when to look
I actually saw A124 in HyVee today in eastern Iowa, a first!
I’m just happy I might be able to find one unlike C923
Will be interested in your head to head but for my money I'll be buying this at MSRP over 1924 at secondary all day long.
This stuff refuses to sell out around here... C923 was sold out in hours and this has stuck around for a month. Worried we wont get B524 on shelves because of the backlog of this stuff. It's almost $80 here, @$55 some people are saying they got it for, I'd buy it.
Just picked one up today. I’m excited to try it out and see how it opens up over time.
Perhaps I will pick this one up. Finally seeing on the shelves up here in Northern MN.
1st time watcher. Liked the video! Looking forward to more!
Awesome, thanks so much! Glad to have you aboard.
Good fair review!
EC BP’s are all good; some just better than others. 🥃
Very informative video guys!
The only Elijah Craig I have had is a sample of of the C923 and it definitely was excellent. I’ve had way worse that I spent the same money on. Just based of that sample I would not hesitate to purchase any EC barrel proofs.
Good video 🥃
🥃🥃🥃 See you all Friday!!
Thanks for a fair review. Others have been unfair towards those of us who hold the “pedigree” of ECBP in high regard and are upset about the decline of the product, and we end up getting labeled as “snobs” or other things in that vein, or they make fun of us for getting our panties in a bunch. As you said, ECBP is not something you just measure against the entire market, but you measure it against itself. Yes, measured against the market it still looks good, but measured against itself it does not, and we shouldn’t be pleased about that. Hopefully B and C batches do better. I’m skipping this one.
No one should judge someone’s taste/palette. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. It doesn’t make you a snob! I get this in the single malt scotch world. Having good expectations doesn’t mean someone is a snob.
@@christinecamley thank you
Pearl clutching is allowed with ECBP. I preferred the A123 over C923 last year but doesn’t seem like that will be the case this year. I bet they make the C batch another long age stated high proof again
@@stevefromchicago8277 A123 was soooooo good.
@@DaveH8905 You are so welcome! Thanks for the kind reply! 🙂
Got one of these at my local Costco (only 4 left on the shelf) their price was 66.99 and even though this was a little disappointing, the price softened my hurt feelings.
I thought MSRP was 79.99 last year. Guess I was wrong, or more expensive around here...lol
Not sure they'll get another banger like C923 soon, but it's not like EC puts out a bad bottle...
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Unlike Wu-Tang Whiskey is not for the children.😂. love the shirt!
Lets get nutty with EGA124 woo #Nuttysquad
So basically snatch up all the C923 you can find if there's any still out there??? 😆
But which laser code? 🤣🤣😜
How does it compare to Larceny A124?
Have not tried them side by side yet. Typically ECBP wins over Larceny, but for these 2 A124 releases, I would say the Larceny shows more promise.
What? I still have C923 to drink 🥃🤦♂️ I need to drink more often
“I get wood”. Nice Chad!
I'm wondering if ECBP is falling victim to the "Bookers Effect"? Hype driving up expectations but the quality will vary based on the releases over the year? I know a few people that now take a hard pass on Bookers because of some poor releases.
Honest question: have you tasted the A124, or is this comment based purely on the age statement and whiskey tube talk about it?
I can't necessarily fault HH for doing this, but it does stink. These have always been an incredible value that people pay more than double for on secondary and non-control states regularly mark them up 150%. But seeing the price go up, age go down, and quality go down, hurts. Objectively it's still a great bottle for $75, but you can't help but compare to the last 3 years of releases and be disappointed. Robert Tepper was right, HH, there's no easy way out.
I wish they would lower it to twice/year & keep the 12 yr age statement.
Does anyone know what quantities of each batch of ECBP are released? Is it relatively consistent batch to batch?
It’s been $75 here for quite awhile
I want to see it blind for full perspective. I feel like it’s possible (unlikely) that knowing the proof/age could have bias. It’s possible 😀.
Exactly, it exposes these UA-camrs
You can’t expect every bottling to be 13+ years old.
Nope, not at all. They can’t all be C923.
Also, not every barrel is best at 13+ years, AND these are batches that are legally only allowed to show an age statement of _the youngest barrel_ so not every batching SHOULD show 13+ year age statements. The whole pearl clutching around the ECBP age statements is ridiculous. For all we know, it's largely 14 year barrels. In the end, who cares? Does it taste good?
The ECBP party’s been over since A121 honestly. Still, it’s a good bourbon, just don’t ever compare them to the pre-2021 ECBP flavor & spice monsters of the past.
The 1924 will not be on my shelf. That much for a relatively young whiskey? Nope…
More money for a lesser product versus prior releases. Sounds like only the greatest EC fans will be satisfied?
Nicht schön so was
